    The reason you don't stick beans up your nose (or raisins, for that matter) is that they're a pain in the ass to remove. Peas are round and will form a good seal with the inside of the nostril, so you can get them out by plugging the other nostril and blowing real hard, but beans and raisins don't and need to be removed by a doctor, with tweezers, from the face of a frightened and very uncomfortable toddler. I don't remember but apparently when I was little for some reason my dad was putting peas up and nose and shooting them out and me being just a kid I decided to give it a try, only I put the pea too far up my nose and we had to go to the hospital to get it out. They apparently had a sucky tube tool to get it out.

Nepo Slian is def a close second for me bcuz he didnt know it was upside down and for garys "where did you get that!?" but the fencing gag on its own cracks me up more still just cuz its just a quick cutaway and no one rly aknowledges it and its so easy to mime alongside watchin it

    My girlfriend has 345 followers on Instagram. It's getting more and more quickly since she picked up an analog photocamera, interestingly.
    Still, not exactly a shocking amount.
    We were at a concert and this guy came up to her 'are you Sandstormwoman on Instagram?'.
    Totally out of the blue. Luckily she knew what the account belonging to his Instagram name was too, so it was all very pleasant, haha.
    Yet it's so weird, the concert was 200 kilometers away from our home which is a lot in the Netherlands and she had no obvious connections to the guy. Also there were 1600 people at the festival and it was inside and quite busy. What are the odds?
    I'm in no way famous but people somehow always know me through other people or they've seen me before.
    I have quite a recognizable face combined with a beard, long hair and a distinct clothing style of bandshirts and jeans. Apparently that works.

      @@choc795 Three years later, I think physical copies are still going strong. It will be interesting to see what it's like in, say, ten years, but I don't expect much of a sharp decline at this point. There are things you can do with a physical book that you can't do with an e-book (including lending it to a friend perfectly legally), and seeing things on a page and turning pages gives a different, more structured reader experience. Also, at this point physical books are an escape from the ubiquitousness of screens in all aspects of life.

    So, presumably, that story is actually in a superstate of being every story possible. And, since we're "not supposed to do it", but also supposed to "go do the thing", I am left to choose whatever story I want it to be, not do it, but also secretly do it. Nice of you to tell a story about how I should go out in public dressed as discount somewhat out of shape Spiderman, and how in a chance encounter I won a contest I didn't know I was a part of and became a millionaire and got a crazy hot scientist wife. If you'll excuse me, I'm off to the Dollar Tree / Poundland.

    I saw someone break down Ghostbusters as a movie from, I guess, a film student's perspective, and how Ghostbusters falls into the plot device of "Whatever You Do, Don't Do This," namely, in terms of "crossing the streams" as it were, which means inevitably, they will end up doing this thing.

    Know a time when the internet and reality were entirely separate? How old are you, 40s? Since I'm 31, met my husband doing Deal or No Deal live commentary in a weird comment-thing, and when I was in my late - around 16-17 or so, started hanging out with a guy a year younger than me I met on IRC and we somehow learned we lived about 5 miles from each other.

    • @nemnos
      @nemnos 7 років тому

      Gizensha Fox He's 32, same age as me and I remember the internet being separate from reality. I also remember it not being a thing that everyone had access to. Surely you have memories from before you were 16?

    • @Stephen-Fox
      @Stephen-Fox 7 років тому

      Yeah. Before I had the internet. There were maybe a year or two between getting the internet and starting to meet people I met online in person, but... Really not long enough for me to really have ever formed an idea that the two were separate.

    • @Poldovico
      @Poldovico 7 років тому

      So in a sense when they were separate, you were part of the reason why. When you finally got access and entered the "in-group", it was already big enough that it wasn't so much of an in-group anymore.

    • @beth12svist
      @beth12svist 2 роки тому

      I suspect this is dependent both on how inclined you are to be social and meet people off the internet, and what spaces you frequent (and how the people there are inclined to be social and meet people off the internet). And sometimes just sheer blind luck. You got lucky that a person who shared interests with you lived nearby.
      For me, for most of the time it's been "we might meet" and then nothing happens for various reasons (most often to do with distance, and sometimes just the busy-ness of life). I think to this day I've only met about three people that I know from the internet.

      I was wondering the same thing. The guy who walks in front has a rather big hose in his hands, pointing down. So I guess this may be some sort of gigantic vacuum cleaner to suck up dirt and waste? Berlin has vehicles like that, but different: they are intended to suck up dog poop, and they have a small 1-person cab where the driver sits and besides steering the vehicle, also controls the sucking hose to where a spot of the pavement needs to be cleaned. I guess it's something like that, just with a person walking in front instead. Here are some pictures of the things I am thinking of: www.tip-berlin.de/wp-content/uploads/kot_fahrzeug.jpg and another model: www.bz-berlin.de/data/uploads/multimedia/archive/00256/wuerstchensauger_256871a-768x432.jpg

    We became aware of the peas my toddler daughter had stored in her nose when the smell became evident to us, I cannot imagine how bad it smelled for her. The look on her face when the doctor appeared with the largest pair of forcepts I've ever scene was pure terror, a nurse saved her by handing the doc a small vacuum line which sucked out what she couldn't blow.
