Another made for TV SyFy movie, Pterodactyl first terrorized the world in 2005, with the tale of how paleontologists have no idea what is or is not a dinosaur, or that maybe you shouldn't be poking around certain areas of the world while there are bad dudes about. Luckily, one of them has a military background which is far more useful than the "scholars" in this situation...

"The suicide part of the suicide mission worked out, at least" - Decker Shado, the most positive man ever...
he's the internet personality with the best outlook
I admire their restraint for not calling it "Terrordactyl."
If they did that, they’d get sued.
I remember an old HotWheels playset that had that name.
I’d rather watch THAT movie.
@@joshuastrittmatter4188 Like some sort of Hot Wheels version of The Lego Movie except it's a horror movie? I could get into that...
...There is a film called Terrordactyl. It was made 11 years after this film, but it exists.
@@alienicarus I am Jack's complete lack of surprise...
@@GriffinPilgrim Surprisingly enough, I'd actually consider it better than this film. It pulls a Sharknado & doesn't take itself seriously.
I like how they wrote the female protagonist - "So this psycho lied to get funding, dragged us in a restricted zone without telling, watched his students getting eaten and showed no sympathy and went on a rant how the lizards are beautiful, AND is going to jail for life once back, but yes this is the guy i want! " Strong independent character right there :D
I think i remember seeing this as a kid! Man, sci-fi would show alot of good and bad movies
I remember watching this as a kid at the apex of my dinosaur obsession. This has brought back some odd memories from my childhood.
Were they good?
"But, professor... I don't have any friends..."
Okay, that quip made my day! XDD
I would LOVE to see a 2020 film called T-Rex: Pterodactyl 2, taking today's technology and making a contemporary style film with some of the remaining cast. An actual, good film where the original is in canon, but the sequel is good.
Because the script wasn't really bad. The setup wasn't that bad either. It was all down to execution, budget and the fact it was made at a time when the good effects cost more than they had the budget for, a problem that is easily fixed today.
If it had a bigger budget, the same CG effects of the Pteranodon in Jurassic park III and big named actors, you'd have another good dinosaur movie in the same vein of Lake Placid but with dinosaurs.
@@brandonspain12345 And despite the title, there won't be Pterodactyls at all in the sequel as T-Rex are major focus of the movie.
I would be forgiving at this kind of clickbait.
Those aren't Pterodactyls, those are definitely Pteranodons ... with teeth, these are Pteranodons with that can hover, have teeth, and act like psychopathic rabid animals.
Tell that to the filmmakers.
Well there was a species of pterosaur that basically looked like pteranodon with teeth, they’re called ludodactylus. They still most likely weren’t able to hover and only ate fish but at least there was something similar to these „pterodactyls“ although they could have just went with dragons instead of pterosaurs.
I was raised on the Syfy chance when it was Sic Fi. The movies were what kept me up at night. Just love watching your videos. It's like Cocaine for Nostalgia.

Decker: "That's what YOU think"
This part still leaves me in stiches from laughing
This movie such a big part of my early childhood back in like 2003-4. Cool to see you review it!
He says his intro faster every time. He’ll eventually say it faster than light
Helloworldwidewebi’mdeckershadotheinternetpersonalitywiththebesthair
Please no, I already have to watch his videos at .75 speed just to understand him.
Ah, like a lot of SyFy movies,: "that sounds like it would be interesting," later "WTF did I just watch?"
The dinosaur bedroom scene killed me literally I’m dead this is my punishment for everything I’ve done to type UA-cam comment for all eternity
"We've been wastin all our lives,
fightin in the 'Dactyl's Paradise!"
noice
That's a good one!
😂
Wait....one of the character's names is Lovecraft?
I...feel like Howard's rolling in his grave if this is a part of his legacy...
Of course he is; they have a heroic black guy among the cast...
@@GriffinPilgrim Well, to be fair, Lovecraft did develop more tolerance towards the end of his life.
@@purplehaze2358 I hadn't heard that.
Dr Bright he wasn't fond of mixed races tho
Lovecraft was a kinda of a mess, hell he dated a jewish girl and when she asked why he said "you are diffrent" now *thats* charisma 10
I'm feeling like they missed an opportunity to call their movie Terrordactyl.
Nerd Musk there's already a movie called that
So...just watch Rodan and forget this movie? Gotcha.
I wonder if he’s gonna review that movie on the 26th.
@@joshuastrittmatter4188 ...nope...
@JurassicHero 3 which one?
Rodan has his own movie?
dear god that saucy dino skit BROKE ME XD
Oh, fun personal story about this movie!
In my youth (7-8) there was a meet and greet with someone who claimed to be Ms.Frizzle from the Magic School bus in our little town. When the meet and greet happened, I told her I really liked the Dinosaur episode, and after sending a thank you note, she sent me back a box FILLED with dinosaur stuff! Mostly documentaries and...THIS MOVIE. So, 7-8 year old me, put this movie in, thinking it was another documentary, and NOPE. Tiny me was sobbing from actual terror (I grew up with old school consoles and thought the effects were legit since, ps2 graphics). So, I ended up refusing to leave the house for days because I thought the 'documentary' was real.
So, thanks Ms.Frizzle cosplayer, you made small me have a panic attack and get slight agoraphobia for nearly a week over a scyfy movie. It's hilarious now, but I can't rewatch this movie without cringing. This review made me feel loads better though because Decker's Decker, and made a bunch of it better XD
Bless
Awesome review Decker your humour always manages to cheer me up.
nice to see coolio gettin some movie action, dude is hardworking and didnt deserve to be forgotten like that
"He's just a big....birdy. We better get outta here!"
Hey have y'all moved SCP 682 from site 12?
Thanks for the video
I needed something to do.
I love your channel!!!! Been growing up with it since i was obsessed with predator (which was like 11 years ago) Keep it up!!!
Yknow, Decker, there are certain Toho Kaiju who are basically evolved dinosaurs. Godzilla, Anguirus, Baragon, Gorosaurus, Rodan and Varan. This provides a perfect opportunity to review every Godzilla film, along with Frankenstein vs Baragon, King Kong Escapes, Rodan and Varan. Hell, throw War of the Gargantuas in there too.
The hunters at the beginning were hunting pheasant with shotguns( well, one was. The other had a short barreled rifle). The shotgun was likely loaded with bird shot, so, no surprise that a much bigger animal than a pheasant could pretty much shrug that off. Simultaneously, the other guy was using a short barreled rifle to shoot at a flying, moving target, while he was likely surprised and afraid, what with facing supposedly extinct , giant flying reptiles, so, its no wonder his aim may not be spot on. Later, the ones shooting are trained military/mercenaries, who are much more likely to be comfortable shooting at targets in a chaotic, even dangerous situation, It all tracks Decker.
FINALLY YOU REVIEW THIS MOVIE. WE LIKE YOU WHEN YOU ARE REVIEWING THIS SYFY OLD DINO MOVIES. YOU ARE A GIFT TO MANKIND. YOU MADE MY DAY
I loved this movie as a kid I wanted a pterodactyl as a friend for years.
"Dinosaurs are delicious". Couldn't agree more.
I genuinely remember when this came out on scifi. Idk why but I used to tune in to these cheesy bad films as a kid, and this video is giving me that nostalgia. Another great video DarkerShadow. Look out for two month old Pterodactyls in 2020.
Rodan is a better Pterodactyl movie than the actual movie itself.
The ending is the best, no really the last scene of the rodans made me love that movie. 😥🥺
I’ve been wanting someone to do this movie for a while, thank you.
There is also a movie called Terrorodactyl, which is a more comedic take on this concept while still being a syfy level movie. I’ve never actually seen it, but don’t have the time
These "dinosaurs" remind me of the toys my towns fair sells every single year, T-rexes with wings. Two arms two legs two wings or as the rest of the world calls it a dragon. But the nail in the coffin for the toys is the fact they are sold by "paleontologists".
... ... ...meh. These aren’t the worst Pteranodons I’ve ever seen. Or the worst pterosaurs for that matter.
Legend of the Dinosaur has seen to that.
i remember when the sy fy channel was the sci fi channel and showed this movie semi regularly. making me feel like a boomer
you know decker lets be glad there's no squeal i mean it has been 14 years since this movie came out and sometimes i still question why i even watched it all those years ago
I was like 12 when I wanted to watch this one, but I snuck the one about a wyvern instead. Equally crazy but somewhat easier to suspend disbelief when dragons are involved
Hey, the scientist talking about the earthquake at the beginning on the movie - wtf, are they in Czech republic? It looks like small Czech city for sure. Even the old cars... :D
One of my favorite sci fi channel movies from back in the day haha. Loved the review and bringing back that nostalgia.
Decker.... Don't you dare... 5:38 😂😂😂😭😭😂😵😵 Also.. 10:50 😂 where he's going? He's looking for Jason too? In a mall? There's no way Jason can be in the mall 😂😂😂
R.I.P. Coolio; gone, but not forgotten
The specific species are pteranodons they eat fish and have no teeth...
Pteranodon is a genus not a species.
@@Charley_Goji oops typo

In my experience it’s the other way around
Still waiting on that King of the Monsters review
Oh, he’s gonna tear that movie a new one.
If I did, he sure as hell will.
... ... ...unless I’m a harsher person than Decker.
That would be something. 🤷♂️
@@joshuastrittmatter4188 I thought it was a good movie. Yeah the human plot is stupid and that automatically prevents the movie from being great but I personally think the moster designs, fights, and expansion of their lore more than made the movie at least good in my eyes.
@@randorantos eh tbh i don't think it saves the film enough. It won't get it anything higher than a 3/5
Can you look at a shark movie called Creature🦈
@Fascist Future what lol
That sounds awesome
"guys guys sunset, its time to turn into a pumpkin"
Decker Shado 2019
Love when Decker Shadow pops up in my notifications! Would love it more if it was critters but that wouldn't mash well with dinocember but one day my pleas will be heard!
They literally stole the origin of rodan for the pterodactyls.
And handled it much, much less competently.
Aw, a childhood movie of mine being reviewed by my favorite movie reviewer ever. I guess it's already Christmas.
YAAH another Decker Shado vid!!! Bring us into 2020 with great laughter Decker !
Oh those Pterodactyls. Such pranksters. Always hiding bits of their kill and random objects around for people to find.
The dino bit about loving paleontology was so good man! So sensual.
I left "the hub" for THIS DECKER!?!
Alright I'll stay
Same
Remember the pterodactyls at the end of jurassic park 3? Yeah, this is the aftermath
The guy losing his head is pretty funny.
Pterodactyldemic
But this movie is still 100.000% better than birdemic
@@CristianoRC 100.000? lol
@@GodzillaProductionsTV yes
thanks for an amazing review shado, i loved this movie when it first came out, i enjoyed seeing your own take on it as well, always enjoy your content please keep it up bud :D
That Heavy Rain clip was amazing. Thank you for that!
lololol the Heavy Rain joke was gold
You know I feel really bad for that woman in the tent not just for what she probably went through but probably what the terrorists guards probably did to her when they discovered their boss missing
Holy fuck this is gonna be a nostalgia trip. I watched this a SHIT LOAD on Sci-Fi when I was younger...
Keep spendin' most our lives, living in a Rodan Paradise!
8:00, looks like the Pteranodon from Jurassic Park 3.
Deckers coolio joke >"they fly now"
"explodes like beef stroganov"? Decker, did you just sneak in a reference to The Gamers? Because, if you did, I think I may be in love...
"You have those!"
I will live by these words.
What makes me feel pain the most is Pterodactyl was the smaller than a chicken.
Shoulda been called... "TERROR-DACTYL!"
This was one of the first “horror movie” a saw
It was a bit traumatic
Anyone else hear the Dinosaurs theme start playing when that cartoonishly large egg rolls down the incline?
*NOT THE MAMA!*
Really shocked you didn't point out how they had teeth. Seriously, first Jurassic Park III, now this. _Pteranodon_ did not have teeth!
Hell, the very name Pteranodon means “Winged and toothless”!
If you wanna get super pedantic, there was a species of pterosaur called ludodactylus that resembled a pteranodon with teeth. But it was also rather small, and didn't have hawk-talons.
@@Biochemitra Well, yeah, some species had teeth, such as _Tropeognathus._ However, as you mentioned, the only pterosaur with teeth that even remotely resembled _Pteranodon_ was much smaller. I'm just confused why _Pteranodon_ keeps getting teeth in fiction. I'm not expecting 100% scientific accuracy, but come on...
@@wd3185 The simple answer is that pteranodon is the most iconic looking pterosaur, with the most immediately recognizable design. But when you monsterfy something, you usually want it to be scary, so it gets teeth.
The more complicated answer is that since "pterodactyl" is a soft and largely outdated term, but it's what usually gets tossed around in fiction, one could make the argument that it's the semi-official term for toothy, scaly, retro-style pterosaurs. Sort of like how "brontosaurus" was the semi-official term for fictional sauropods before it... uh... turned out to be valid after all.
@@Biochemitra Yeah, that's fair. I mean, I'm aware that I'm just bitching about a non-issue, and I even admitted that scientific accuracy isn't a must-have for dinosaur movies (though it is appreciated). But still, I guess I just needed to voice my annoyance.
It's a Woodland Paradise
To be fair decker, there was a species of Pterosaur that was massive. But, still made to be a glider.
To be fair he was talking about Pterodactyls and not Pterosaurs in general.
I saw this one and it was all so dumb. I was only a teen but I thought the funniest part was when they are walking away at the end and laughing. They just watched tons of people die! What were they laughing at?🤣
Remind me never to go camping with Decker! He'd leave me behind in a heartbeat.
Hey decker you really should review the movie mutant chronicles with Thomas Jane, Ron Perlman and John Malkovich, love to see your thoughts on the movie and MERRRRRY XMAS
That movie is so good, always wish it got a sequel
So not only am I supposed to suspend disbelief that eggs from millions of years ago are somehow able to still produce living pterodactyls. . . But I'm also supposed to suspend disbelief that those hand puppets are somehow able to survive long enough to grow to a size large enough to hunt WITHOUT any sort of parent to provide them with food until they CAN hunt?
Also, pterodactyls have about a 2 foot wing span...
Godzilla Productions TV these are like Pteranodon
5:45 i really did not need to see that...
Fun, the timestamp is the same as the ak74u's caliber
Dawg yes! This was my favorite dinosaur B Movie when I was a kid!
Decker gave that Dino the long decker if ya hearrr me
Hey, Decker! You get around to watching the trailer for Starchaser: The Legend of Orin, yet? :P
Now I want some beef stroganoff...😅
You made it sound so good!
1:44 Pterosaurs also had soft-shelled eggs.
Coolio vs Flying Reptiles. That's a movie right there.
I'd love to see your reviews of the following: Storm of the Century, 1408, The Mist, Cujo, The Stand...
Walk ten feet, find some pterodactyls, fight them, rinse and repeat... I think they found the best place to grind XP.
the second i heard my last name in one of the characters i just went "welp. shit. if a character named blake dies someone with that last name will as well."
5:45 is the true nightmare
Decker really deserves a mil subs
So somehow the pterodactyls in this movie used invisible lightsabers, judging by how they were able to slice people up as they flew by.
When I saw that first egg, the idea came into my head for some reason that it was a huge _candy_ egg.
True Pterodactyls is as big as a bunny or so, but it's not uncommon for people to call all pterosaurs Pterodactyls.
And the biggest pterosaurs have wingspans of 11 meters or more, or over 35 feet.
So the pterosaurs here is simply misnamed, it's probably Hatzegopteryxes or Quetzcoateluses.
I remember watching this when it premiered.
Pterodactyls are not actual animals, Pterodactyl is used to describe any pterosaur with a crest or to describe Pterodactylus/ Pteranodon Longiceps due time their name and simular head shape
You must be a real hit at parties.
Viriathas fuck yeah, I’m the guy who walks up to random people and tell them the death rates of alcoholic poisoning
Hey decker
I have a movie that i cant remember the name to but it would fit the dinocember thing youve got goin.
The movie was on syfy if i recall correctly
The plot goes as a navy seal team lands on a island trying to kill terrorists or somthin and they find a plane carrying radioactive material and get attacked by raptors and a t-rex. It takes place on a island with a volcano.
Dont remember the name. But if you find it and review it i will be greatly pleased.
Merry Christmas and happy new years decker!
This is why I have watched your show non stop since I found your vids, the best reviewer...and should of been Creator of the year!!!
24:39, yes, it is, because
that's what makes it so good/bad.
19:17 Oh shit the Pterodactyls were arming themselves! I’m glad biology thwarted the revolution by not giving them fingers.
12:34, You leave Tucker and Dale out of this!
My third favorite reptiles, and my favorite internet reviewer. A match made in watered down heaven.
