if you put observers over the pistons in the sugar cane farm, you don't need the Redstone.
I think it was because automatic farms are banned on the server but I don’t know since he doesn’t seem to care about that too much lol 😂 Aldough I was thinking the same thing

In you’re sugar cane farm you should put a observor bellow the piston so when the sugar cane grows it immediately sends a red stone signal to the piston and breaks the sugar cane and you can also put a hopper below to immediately collect it

The way this works is when a sugarcane grows 3 blocks tall it triggers the observer and the observer fires the redstone which fires the piston and tye sugar canes get broken

Instead of repeaters, place any block to replace them, then put redstone on the block and behind it, so that when the redstone line needs to be re-powered using a repeater, it won't block the piston next to it.
Or just use observers
