  • In Part 3 of this video series on making a plug, Stephan is fairing the fiberglass on the foam to get the form just right so he can get a perfect mold off of it. Using TotalBoat's Total Fair Epoxy Fairing Compound, you can easily fill and smooth out any imperfections without a tons of difficult sanding.
Use this video to make your own plug for a mold for any kind of part. Ask us your questions below and we can help try to translate this for your own project.

Awesome Videos! :) I'm considering using this product to build a full set of custom fairings for my motorcycle, that's the front fairing, sides, fender, and tail section. I'm not sure how much I will need, would a gallon of the fairing compound (resin and hardener) work? And would I need the same amount of epoxy or could I get away with using a quart? Thanks!

You're confusing epoxy resin with polyester resin (which too many wrongly simply call fiberglass resin), which contains styrene monomer and is catalysed with methyl ethyl ketone peroxide among other strong solvents that will eat polystyrene. , . He's using epoxy, which has none of these problems.

There are books covering the technique used by the styling departments of auto manufactures and speciality companies.
