  • A lot of people struggle with a standard bowline, but this easy thrown bowline is a simple fixed loop that is easy to untie after its been under load. The Angery American learned this knot in a shipyard, and now you can master the same technique.

This is one of the best tips I've ever seen in almost 20 years in the industry

It's amazing to watch some of the commercial fishermen around here throw a bowline. I haven't mastered it myself.

Been doing the throw bowline (cowboy) where you throw the bitter end around the line then flim flam twist and pull and you’re done.
I like this one for shorter lighter line. Thanks for teaching me.

Great video! Going to practice this knot right now. Learned about this on the Survival Dispatch Insider Facebook page. I agree; AA's books are outstanding. I'm rereading them now and taking notes. The SD website and newsletters are a great source of information.

Yo, just made a video about the flying tugboat bowline and stumbled on this looking for vids to hyperlink in my blog post. I'm glad I stumbled on this GOLD! I've never seen a bowline tied like that but its so fast and easy. Nice trick buddy, thanks.
    Nice intro graphic too btw!
