other than lighting, what other factors can affect the accuracy of its scanning, would help tremendously if there is a link or research about it since we're exploring the potential of the application in our dissertation

In addition: The 2D preview now highlights rooms that were not scanned successfully, so if you see any orange walls, just repeat the scan in that area.
If you have a large room, you should scan it in two parts. Scan the first half, close it, then begin scanning the second half. We are using the Apple Roomplan Technology. So there is no official communication for a “size limit”, but Apple mentioned the following in a forum: “We recommend limiting the scanning to less than 10 minutes for a room smaller than 30 ft by 30 ft (10 by 10 meters)”

does it still scan room by room?
I love animations of scanning where lines draw itself. Because sometimes clients think that i record video, but now they will see that i made work. Also it look much better with furniture.

I've read that the new iPhone 15 has an improved lidar sensor, by Sony. Is that true? Will it enable more accurate scans in the new MagicPlan update, so a separate lazer scanner tool is not needed to increase the accuracy?
Hey! We read that too. No official information from Apple though. We will run some tests on new devices and update with results!

@@carltonblack2008i heard it just don't overheat and less battery consumption version. Inaccuracy can be made by shaking hands for example and new lidar didn't help with it even if it will be more accurate. But i see video where one guy use gimball to significantly increase accuracy of iphone (in different app), so you can try it.)

Did you run those tests on the 15? What were the results?
Unfortunately it doesn’t work in big rooms with different heights, yesterday it failed (1300m2)

There is the possibility to edit the room height after creating a room (or a floor), take a look at this article help.magicplan.app/setting-the-ceiling-height-for-a-specific-floor - If you are having problems with the scanning instead, feel free to contact us at support@magicplan.app and we can check, because once you have good light in the room, the Lidar Auto-Scan works also with different heights.

Unfortunately the scan will not work with external LiDAR sensors. It is designed to work with the built-in LiDAR sensors in Apple Pro devices.

I want to use magic as a contractor. I like iPad, so I don't mind buying a new one for this, but I refuse to buy a windows device for seeing up service items, etc. - I use Chrome book. It was also kind of difficult setting up the "if thens" Have you guys changed that at all? I'll admit, it's been a few years since I played with your software.
Hi @@carltonblack2008 ! It is currently possible to edit projects only from the app on a mobile device (Android or iOS). You can visit this article to see the different functionalities between the app and Cloud: help.magicplan.app/the-magicplan-app-vs.-the-magicplan-cloud - you can then access the Cloud on a regular computer then.

Does this work for caving or mine exploration
Hi there, unfortunately not, because magicplan is an app intended to scan the interior of a house. Also, you need sufficient light to scan the surrounding environment, so I bet that in a cave or a mine, you will not find this condition, unfortunately. 🙂 But still, you can give it a try! I had just opened the app. Realized you need to add a floor and then add a room and then once room is added you can then do Lidar scanning@@magicplan
the application should add a feature to draw wall in a free way except of being tied to special fomr
Hi there! Please add this as a feature request, our product team will then be notified automatically. Go into the app, tap on My Account (bottom right) then select "Suggest a Feature". In this way all the users that are interested in the same feature, can also add their votes.

Unfortunately, this does not depend on us but on the device manufacturer. At the moment, only iOS devices have a LiDAR sensor built-in, so you need an iOS device (PRO version) in order to have this scanning feature available on your app.
So you can make it 10x better: make it available for remote work with a customer. Make sure the customer gets the data and capabilities the owner of the app wants him to have and does not get the data and capabilities, he does not want to have. Like; I do not want my potential customer to have an easy way to search for competitors, but I want to spark his imagination. So I want your program to easily scan and transfer data to me. I want the customer to be able to play around, but not be able to give the results away to somebody else. I want an easy export into my furniture planning software.
Hi there, well, you could tell the customer to download the app and use the free version of it (with 2 free projects) so then they can share the project with you and you can see and edit it in your app. As explained here >> help.magicplan.app/share-floor-plans-with-other-magicplan-users
