I know I've said this a bunch of times but seeing this reminded me of my score, I got 8.5 in speaking on my first IELTS test.
Here's some of my tips:
- too fancy words are not needed Ex icing on the cakes, raining cats and dogs...
- relax and don't stress too much about not knowing the topic, remember the examiner is going to grade you on speaking. In cases that the topic is really out of your knowledge, you can try to change the topic during the speak. When you are talking try to slip a few things and talk about that.
- if you get stopped midway and asked to talk more generally etc, don't worry that happened to me personally, I believe he did that so he can score me higher
8.5 speaking is my dream scoreeee ;;-;; you've done such a great job!

actually most examiners do that it's a common practice in the ielts examination now. Last time I experienced the smae
As someone who stutters, I recognized right away that Steven has a stutter too. The reason why he didn't say "chipped in" is because he simply couldn't get the words out. I feel his pain. :(
But he still owned his test and did very, very well in the end.

Need more videos like this. Feel like English native speakers are not used to giving long and complex answers to questions like "Do you like surprises", "Do you enjoy studying?" and "Has anyone ever surprised you with something?"
It's really true - even native speakers find this skill daunting sometimes.

Of course band score not depend on being a native English speaker but it is totally depend on systematic and accuracy of the student's effort in exam. Steven is a little bit nervous with IELTS mock test and Maddie encourage him with a supportive expression. Even though he had nervous with a mock test I love his confident on speaking fluently. I do love his critical thinking in speaking exam his fluency is great to look back.

it's too difficult to self prepare a transcrip to show how good you are ( it will not make sence if his performance is not good or even have some mistakes:)) ) just my opinion :)

Regarding his speech, it is quite evident that he was hesitating a little bit although he knew what to do basically.
Just received my IELTS Results. I scored an overall 8 BAND with 8.5 in Listening, 9 in Reading, 7 in Writing and 8 in Speaking.

I love Maddie! She is really cute and nice person as we can see. I wish to get an examiner like her caz she is really friendly. And what about Stiven I think he has good language, but yes he was nervous (and it is not unusual or weird thing, all of us know this). I felt comfortable while watching videos. Because it shows us that we are human and taking exams are really hard thing (especially when it is ur first time). Stiven is really cute! Good luck Stiven!!! You are good at all

It's so awesome to see the guy as to what he did in the speaking exam. Although being an native speaker, he still managed to get a pretty decent score which is more than enough I've ever anticipated

I just got my IELTS speaking result with an 8.5, overall band 8 as a native speaker. I feel that I definitely felt like steven half the time, as I ended up dodging two questions because I misunderstood LOL

I felt like the examiner sometimes just reading the written questions whose answers are previously mentioned by the speaker. She needs to be more flexible I think. I’ve been in the situation before where I answered and explained things in details for one question but then the teacher asked me another one whose answer is pretty obvious as I’ve told it right before. So I have to either repeat what I said or thinking something new to say :(( and sometimes I don’t have much idea to share.

I think he's introvert that's why it's so kind of embarrassing or uncomfortable for him to flow ,... Same happens to me but I have tried to learn how to lie and acting out 😅which come very useful to be "normal" 😂
