Hey Chris, I just wanted to thank you for your speaking videos. I watched all of them 2 days before my IELTS exam and got a perfect 9.0 score just today. Thank you!
Ishani Saxena Congratulations! If you don’t mind, can you please share some tips and tricks that helped you ace the speaking test? Do you think it’s better to speak naturally or incorporate formal connectors such as moreover, furthermore, etc. in your speech? Thank you in advance and once again, congratulations!
@@lenteraterang4148 Thank you so much! The most important tip that I would give you is to stay calm and collected throughout the speaking exam. What helped me stay grounded was imagining my best friend in the place of the examiner. Make eye contact and speak confidently. I would say that your speech has to be natural, but it should also incorporate grammatical complexity. That shouldn't feel forced and it comes only with practice. Another tip (which Chris gave me and it proved to be really helpful) is to always give elaborate answers. Give examples from your life to backup your answers. This allows you to emote. Lastly, watch all the IELTS DAILY videos (not a paid promotion lol). They are so helpful and to the point. All the best for your test!
Being a burmese, I must say only a few can speak fluently in English. This brother and other students in this channel has always fascinated and inspired me to speak fluent rather than native English speakers as English is not their mother tongue. I bet he will use his skills on good deeds.
Jed is my favorite among all the participants I've seen in the mock exams. The way he talks is so natural, that at times it's hard to believe that he's not a native speaker. His answers are well thought-out and cohesive. He really knows what he's saying and owns the conversation. Love that guy.
You say at 12:18 that he could speak faster. How fast does someone has to speak in order to communicate effectively and make themselves understood? I believe your words could bring people into confusion, leading them to believe that they have to speak as fast as a hare running. If speech speed was an assessment criterion, then Sir Christopher Lee would probably fail a speaking test or would never achieve the maximum score. And he was a native speaker and a very intellectual and well-learnt person!
Oh, wait he said “When you get the results, knowing that you tried your best” that’s what I actually heard off… and not the “When you get the results.. and making your parents proud”
Oh, I really inspire Jed. Being a Burmese, I really proud of him. He has charming pronunciation, top-quality grammar use, great confidence. Although English isn't his mother language, he can speak fluently and simply. As a Burmese, me, I'll try my best in my English like him. Thanks for this video. I also hope other Burmese will watch this video.
Honestly, I feel like u're not like other english teachers on UA-cam. They just mark the band and sometimes this makes me confused why do they get band 8 band 9, what are their problems and strengths. But u can address all my questions 😭😭. Thks for doing all of these videos. Next month, i gonna have an ielts exam huhu, hope that i can target my aim 🍀🍀🍀
Hi Chris ,, i hope you are doing well thanks for your wonderful and exciting videos i scored a band 6 in speaking and hopefully your videos will help me to get 7 or even higher in speaking test
He surely deserves band 9 omg. His answer is SOO IMPRESSIVE like he was looking at the script! Love his mindset and mood that he expressed. Awesome job!
that was not a live IELTS examination though - of course they prepared everything - they prepared everything pretty well and the answers are solid enough - however please don't think that this is an official live exam with off-the-cuff answers. Also, don't believe people who say they haven't prepared anything at all and got a 8+ band score, as it is just is not possible for 99.9% of foreign students to achieve this score on their first attempt, regardless of their abilities.... just be aware... there are no shortcuts
Previously I thought that in order to get a high band, you need to speak fast like a native. But after watching this video, I believe that it is more important to be calm and think before speak, and most importantly use a range of vocabs and grammar accurately 👌🏻

I have to say that this channel is so so great. The content is good.
