Don't forget guys we aren't in a recession
An economic recession is way, way, way overdue, bring it on! The longer we wait, the more painful it's going to be!
Lately I've been losing hope for the future of this country as I watch what's going on. Less teachers means less educated people. What are kids going to do in the future without education???
You can thank Greg Abbott!
The teacher to student ratio has less of an impact than the troublemaker/violent student to student ratio. When you have a classroom full of kids that want to learn they are more productive than when the students have constant interruptions from their peers.
Of course, piss poor teachers are an issue as well.
@@mastakush4272Democrats run Houston. Taxes keep going up and the kids keep getting worse. Is that Abbotts fault to?
They have tic tok and social media influencers
Home school is where it should be anyway. I was home schooled and know a hell of a lot more than these kids today. Kids these days are idiots even upon graduation
Layoffs aren’t unusual, I’ve been in the oil industry many years and when they want to cut back they don’t worry about your feelings. I believe most of these people will bounce back, but they need to look forward.
Tell that to the thousands keep getting "cut off" without hopes of retiring. Tell that to the 60 year old still working to survive. Just because a problem doesn't affect me shouldn't be an excuse to look away from the root problem. The fact they can just fire people when ever they want, and/or find any excuse to do so: Is the "glitch".
@@michaeloswal9847Do you want to pay more taxes, another $1,000 a year so they can keep their jobs?
I would agree. Good thing about Houston is there is always an abundance of jobs, even during a recession, e.g. 2008.
@@hmata3 Houston is energy center. You do realize they're trying to kill the oil and gas industry. The city will start to decline when that happens.
I understand their situation and wish them the best. I would encourage anyone that English is not your first language please take advantage of learning the language fluently. I am disappointed that in 10 years HISD didn't offer English classes. 😇

In a city like Houston you could live there your whole life and not need to learn English. Every store and business has Spanish speakers.
Nobody speaks English anymore
20+ years and never learned to speak English.
Weren’t we just in a teacher shortage??
It's a student shortage less students means less money for the district and they don't need as many employees parents are fed up with public education and finding alternatives
We still are, its a nationwide problem. Who'd want to teach these days when you can't control your classroom and the curriculum is so watered down.

I have a question: How much does the Superintendent make per year?
They will bring in low paying employees and outsource the cleaning. That the new trend
Every school, city, library & parks department formerly had janitors & cleaning people. Now they have independent contractors. The janitors had stable employment, good pay, annual leave, sick leave, healthcare & retirement. Contractors have none of that.
@@wayneanderson8034 Those contract companies cause big money And they also need an audit and go bacl at least 10 years and see where all the money mismanagement went to
They never bothered to learn English, but have no problem complaining. They should be grateful they were employed without being able to speak this country's language.
Exactly 👍
Half the students didn't speak English so they needed Spanish speaking teachers.
The crazy logic of this finally caught up with them!

Public school district. As someone not originally from TX this also confused me at first, as that always meant a private school where I’m from.

No offense, but as an American, I'm more so wondering why they've been here this long as English as a second language learners but have not learned the English language and are still speaking in their native tongue without speaking fluently in English during this news report. What is that promoting? What message does that send to other second language Learners regarding their employment here in the United states?
