The teleport attack seems to be very temperamental! Sometimes they use it to attack and other times they don't so if you're having that issue, you can always leave one side of the trap open, let it follow you inside and just net gun it to trap it, place the missing walls down then fly out of render to de-aggro it....you will take some damage but if you're wearing flak you'll be fine! :) Also good fishing spots: ua-cam.com/video/1pY2hS1UYpg/v-deo.html

I forgot to thank you this is what I ended up doing. I tried from all different heights for hours and the shadowmane refused to teleport. Eventually used myself as bait, shot it with a net gun and built the last 4 walls and it worked like a charm. I tamed a ton of them since then and am now breeding 8745 health and 396 melee ones with no mutations. They're going to be beasts when I start going for mutations. Still building up my females.
Bit of extra info to help. 2.0 and larger fish do not drop the taming effectiveness so you can get a 100% effectiveness tame if you have enough. Also, Asgard East SHOULD put you on the edge of one of the shadowmane ponds. At least, it does on my server. Hopefully this is a bit of extra help :)
You're right! (about both) :). I don't recommend teleporting east though, it's too close, I never teleport there as I died one time to Shadowmanes before my game even properly loaded in haha. I'm on a 3x taming server so my aim is to always get 1.5 or above but if I was on official I would definitely only tame 2.0 or more and stock up at least 10-15 before trying to tame a high level!
I was getting so frustrated after feeding the shadowmane without a trap and it noticing me and I forgot traps were a thing until I found this vid, thanks mate I just got a clean 150 female!
I'd suggest just getting however many you need and going into water when spoil gets low. As long as they're in your hotbar, they will refresh the spoil timer. Easier than making more baskets imo
They weight 15 weight when full though and doing it with cryopods you can stock up on a load! It’s hard to find those big fish a lot of the time so just much better to store them in a cryofridge where you know they are always there ready to go!

Haha no worries! I will add that sometimes It hasn't worked for me and sometimes it has, bit weird really. If they don't try and eat you off the grapple you can always bait them into the trap from the method I added on the pinned comment in the comment section! :)
you can use a wooden cage and out it over the fish then put the basket next to it, wait for the trap to initialize and catch the fish easy peasey. then pick it up and repeat.
I’m not sure it would work on official surely? Because when you try to place a foundation or structure on the ground when a creature is in the way it will not let you so surely it’s the same thing with a fish? Maybe I’m wrong 😁
Tips use a prison cage to trap wild fish then put fish cage next to it for easy trap. look around the beach edges of the smaller lad in midgard I usually find about 10 fish above 1.5 every time. Also dont use elixar until last 30% encase you mess up tame you cant reuse elixar if tame resets
@@cusker33 The second largest one on midgard I fly the oceans edge on a maywing and find them. Occasionally they are a bit futher out in water so i bite them to force them to swin inwards. I use awesome spyglass mod on my servers so it helps but they will still be there just harder to find
I have a level 456 Shadow mane on official, It has 23K HP 2.4K Melee and it's mutated with Slime green colors. It's badass, one of my favorite dinos. My other one has 30K HP 1.5k Melee. These things can be strong ASF. I three tap Alpha's
Second update. We avenged the death of my shadowmane and slayed the broodmother 💥🎉🎉🎉 I now have a 50k shadowmane with 1500 Melee. A glorious ending to the broodmother Story
Yeah you don't need Ghillie, I just use it for preference as sometimes Mantis spawn around there and their aggro range is pretty high so I just wear it for that reason really, just makes life easier :D.
Yep :)...I always go for around 1.8 but i'd probably catch 1.5 nonetheless as I normally play on servers that have about 3x taming :) Caught a 2.4 while making this video and it go eaten by a Hesporonis haha. I was pissed!
I improved upon your guide buy just netting the shadowmane and building the trap around it. It probably requires adjusted collision settings to be able to place foundations on shadowmane idk I only play on unofficials. But if you can do it you dont have to do the circus number hanging from your bat.
Yeah it's a better way to do it, I only did the bat dangle in the video because it's the safest way to do it without the risk of dying but in the pinned comment that is how I always do it myself, let it eat my face, net it and place the walls down behind it then fly out of render XD

I normally check both Redwoods lakes then go around the center of the map where all the shallow streams and waterfalls are, can normally find a good few chunky ones!
Afaik, shadowmanes do not use teleport attack on official servers since sometime after gen2 was released, because I guess too many people complained it was too strong(?) so devs removed it. Ive tamed them on official and unofficial and they never did the teleport attack post nerf. Are you playing single player in video? Good guide otherwise, though to capture the fish I would suggest using a net gun when the fish is close to the ground :)

please help, whenever a shadowmane is sleeping i go to him from his back and try to feed him, but he always wakes up and starts sniffing around , please help me this is not even fun anymore
This is great but everyone everywhere misses one crucial point, how to GET a fish basket, I'm on ps4 and don't see it anywhere in the engrams. Can anyone help???
@@marcusmoreno5090 Normally you shouldn't have to but in the engram section there's the icons at the top which show or hide DLC engrams so try clicking some of those and see if you can find any hiding!
It's slightly closer yeah but I don't recommend spawning here unless you want to get instantly mauled by a group of Shadowmanes lol...that is what happened to me, i always go South-East after that, it's barely any further anyway!

Haven't had that one before! But the teleport attack does seems to be very temperamental in my experience! Sometimes they use it to attack and other times they don't so if you're having that issue or the one you're having, you can always leave one side of the trap open, let it follow you inside and just net gun it to trap it, place the missing walls down then fly out of render to de-aggro it....you will take some damage but if you're wearing flak you'll be fine! :) this method is easier to trap it but ofcourse you may take some damage but then again if it's breaking your grapple you're probably taking some anyway haha.
Not normally unless you fed it later on in the day? You could always try flying out of render distance and coming back if it was early in the morning and that was happening!
Check the pinned comment method if you're struggling to get it into the trap, this will always work because it will follow you in, Fjordur is a little odd and they only seem to use that teleport attack occasionally so I usually just use this method for trapping them easier!
I haven't had them stun me yet! A lot of people have said they removed the wild ones being able to stun you! If you're having trouble with the grapple you can always use a net gun, leave one side of the trap open, run into the trap and let it eat you, net gun it then place the missing walls down after and fly out of render after to de-aggro it, that's what I do if their teleport attack isn't working as it should!
If it's not available when playing Fjordur normally you need to go into your inventory, go to engrams, check the dlc boxes at the top right of screen! I've never had an issue unlocking it if on maps where they are available but this worked for others, if not you will have to transfer to one of the DLC/later maps to unlock it.
I found a max lvl female Shadowmane last night. I've never tamed one before so I tried to net it and build a trap but I wasn't fast enough. I ended up knocking it out entirely (do not recommend, it took a literal hour to wake up lol), built a trap around it and when it woke I was able to feed it one fish before it aggro'd onto the trap. Didn't matter if I left render distance, it continued to attack the trap. Then it got out of the trap but it kept coming back to attack the trap. So I tried to dismantle the trap to see if I could break the aggro cycle - She killed me and went right back to the trap. I lead her away across the map, she went on a murder rampage, only to turn around and come right back to the trap again. Bitch is bugged.
You netted it before building the trap? Try the box with walls around it in this video...you can build a ramp up to it and lure it in and net it or just leave one side open, net it and place the walls down and leave render, this trap and method has never failed for me, has worked every time!! The box is great because you can feed it through the wall an dit can't see you so will not Aggro!
@@Nukawin Sorry I must have missed your reply, and I'm sure you have tamed a few by now but incase you haven't you don't even need the bat at all to bait it in if the grapple hook dangle method doesn't work, just have one side of the trap open with the walls on your hotbar, run inside and let it chase you in, netgun it then place the missing walls behind it then go out of render to de-aggro it.
It is definitely best, I always try to aim for 2.0 too because it jumps up the taming bar so much more but I settle for 1.5s too only because I play on a 3x taming server!

Which part? I still tame my Shadowmanes like this and it works a charm every time, the only thing that doesn't work all the time like it did in this video is the Shadowmane using its teleport attack which there's a better way for baiting them into the trap anyway! @@BEYPlaysGames its just that when it gets into the trap and i go out of render to de-agro and go back into render the shadowmane starts fleeing, it cant get out of the box so its just fleeing infinitly i can do whatever i want punch, it go near it, it wont attack. that happens everytime i do this
@@PD_Logoxd That is very odd and I have not had that happen once to me before! Maybe try out consuming a rare flower next to it and trying going out of render then, or replace all stone walls on the trap when it's in there and see if any of that works! Is it also the correct time of day too?
@@BEYPlaysGames yeah i'll try that. it doesnt matter what time it is or smth but when its fleeing its gonna flee and not sleep, its like example: you have a goal to run to the other infinitly long place of the world and you need to just focus on that and not do anything else until you finnish your goal. so yeah...
It's quite an annoying creature to tame in my opinion, being able to feed it through the wall and stocking up on good fish in a cryofridge instead of carrying around heavy filled fish baskets is way easier to be honest, sorry you feel that way! How do you tame them?

This was done on 1x taming which still takes a while and creatures tend to just spawn out of nowhere which aggro the Shadowmane making matters worse, I personally tried doing it the conventional method a few times before and some times i'd lose all taming progress going behind It to feed it and it wouldn't have even aggrod on to me and it was very frustrating. And you need like 1.3 - 1.8 or above weight fish to properly 100% effectively tame it on 1x rates which I can never find right away, takes a long time to find those which is why I use cryopods to stock up.

Taming from underneath still works perfectly. That removes the need for ghillie and the trap is pretty similar to a 2x2 box set up.
You don’t need ghillie for this trap either btw, I think he just uses it to make it harder for potential hostile creatures in the area to spot him.

You really want to look for fish 1.6x+. The game rounds up, so a 1.5x could actually be a 1.45x and give less taming than you expect

I think telporting to east would probably be a little faster but I haven't tested it. However the forest seems to be between the ne and se points
It is closer but you could also risk having your face ripped apart by a group of Shadowmanes :D

Desmodus is not the only flying tame. I’ve gone with my Argy multiple times.

The 3 zones are considered caves. The only reason you can fly in them on anything other than the bat is because your server allows cave flying
anyones fish keeps apeearing outside of the trap on land but not dead can recapture but no taming progress kept happening help

You should just be able to unlock it on the engrams? Make sure it's not filtered and stuff from other maps show up! Let me know if it's there or not.

Not normally unless you fed it later on in the day? You could always try flying out of render distance and coming back if it was early in the morning and that was happening!

This didn't work for me. I set it up exactly as the video and the shadowmane just ran away when I shot it
Check the pinned comment method if you're struggling to get it into the trap, this will always work because it will follow you in, Fjordur is a little odd and they only seem to use that teleport attack occasionally so I usually just use this method for trapping them easier!

When I’m above the trap it stuns me and breaks my grapple any idea why
I haven't had them stun me yet! A lot of people have said they removed the wild ones being able to stun you! If you're having trouble with the grapple you can always use a net gun, leave one side of the trap open, run into the trap and let it eat you, net gun it then place the missing walls down after and fly out of render after to de-aggro it, that's what I do if their teleport attack isn't working as it should!

How to get fish basket engram
If it's not available when playing Fjordur normally you need to go into your inventory, go to engrams, check the dlc boxes at the top right of screen! I've never had an issue unlocking it if on maps where they are available but this worked for others, if not you will have to transfer to one of the DLC/later maps to unlock it.
I found a max lvl female Shadowmane last night. I've never tamed one before so I tried to net it and build a trap but I wasn't fast enough. I ended up knocking it out entirely (do not recommend, it took a literal hour to wake up lol), built a trap around it and when it woke I was able to feed it one fish before it aggro'd onto the trap. Didn't matter if I left render distance, it continued to attack the trap. Then it got out of the trap but it kept coming back to attack the trap. So I tried to dismantle the trap to see if I could break the aggro cycle - She killed me and went right back to the trap. I lead her away across the map, she went on a murder rampage, only to turn around and come right back to the trap again.
Bitch is bugged.
You netted it before building the trap? Try the box with walls around it in this video...you can build a ramp up to it and lure it in and net it or just leave one side open, net it and place the walls down and leave render, this trap and method has never failed for me, has worked every time!! The box is great because you can feed it through the wall an dit can't see you so will not Aggro!

@@Nukawin Sorry I must have missed your reply, and I'm sure you have tamed a few by now but incase you haven't you don't even need the bat at all to bait it in if the grapple hook dangle method doesn't work, just have one side of the trap open with the walls on your hotbar, run inside and let it chase you in, netgun it then place the missing walls behind it then go out of render to de-aggro it.

What time is it on the game? you'll have to go out of render distance to lose their aggro and I think they should start sleeping around 8/9am in-game!

Go for 2.0 weight fish. Very time consuming and difficult but you’ll appreciate the outcome… promise.
It is definitely best, I always try to aim for 2.0 too because it jumps up the taming bar so much more but I settle for 1.5s too only because I play on a 3x taming server!
I can't get it to teleport at me
The teleport attack seems to be very temperamental! Sometimes they use it to attack and other times they don't so if you're having that issue, you can always leave one side of the trap open, let it follow you inside and just net gun it to trap it, place the missing walls down then fly out of render to de-aggro it....you will take some damage but if you're wearing flak you'll be fine!

Which part? I still tame my Shadowmanes like this and it works a charm every time, the only thing that doesn't work all the time like it did in this video is the Shadowmane using its teleport attack which there's a better way for baiting them into the trap anyway! Hoping I can help you out with whatever trouble you have! :)
@@BEYPlaysGames its just that when it gets into the trap and i go out of render to de-agro and go back into render the shadowmane starts fleeing, it cant get out of the box so its just fleeing infinitly i can do whatever i want punch, it go near it, it wont attack. that happens everytime i do this
@@PD_Logoxd That is very odd and I have not had that happen once to me before! Maybe try out consuming a rare flower next to it and trying going out of render then, or replace all stone walls on the trap when it's in there and see if any of that works! Is it also the correct time of day too?

it doesnt matter what time it is or smth but when its fleeing its gonna flee and not sleep, its like example: you have a goal to run to the other infinitly long place of the world and you need to just focus on that and not do anything else until you finnish your goal.

U managed to overcomplicate a simple process u doing too much for no reason
It's quite an annoying creature to tame in my opinion, being able to feed it through the wall and stocking up on good fish in a cryofridge instead of carrying around heavy filled fish baskets is way easier to be honest, sorry you feel that way! How do you tame them?
@@BEYPlaysGames hopefully I’m not being mean at all I’m just pointing out what I see but all u gotta do I use the net gun throw a net over them then wait for them to go back to sleep give them a fish while crouching and move out the way , repeat untill he is tamed , you can get the fish right there where they spawn no need to capture them and cryo them either
@@thepillgrim5286 nah that's fine haha! Depends on your taming rates really? This was done on 1x taming which still takes a while and creatures tend to just spawn out of nowhere which aggro the Shadowmane making matters worse, I personally tried doing it the conventional method a few times before and some times i'd lose all taming progress going behind It to feed it and it wouldn't have even aggrod on to me and it was very frustrating. And you need like 1.3 - 1.8 or above weight fish to properly 100% effectively tame it on 1x rates which I can never find right away, takes a long time to find those which is why I use cryopods to stock up.
