To many on the market they are over produced and people’s collections are full of them. Unfortunately I think they eventually crash hard. There will always be some that are sought after especially ones that are truly rare. Just my opinion
Gonna be honest here, to me Funko is the most consumerism centered hobby, people collect all this shit from every franchise, in every "limited" color from a obscure event and it just stays there on the humongous pile of wasted cash, I build gunpla and I have very specific memories of every kit I've build and painted and they are all from shows I love, so when i display my mecha, I do it with pride because i made those little guys and learned a lot while doing so, a funko collector feels pride at how much money he spends and how much he harassed a famous person for an autograph to increase value lol 😅
To clarify, while I think Funko are ugly I'm fine with people enjoying them, I've even seen 1 or 2 that look decent enough that I would like one (I really like the big alduin Funko pop), I think small time collectors that just get a bunch of stuff from one or two franchises are ok, my biggest issue is with people that collect Funko pops because they are Funko pops and nothing else, no connection to the character/franchise, no personal memories, no actual investment besides talking about the monetary value of their see through bing bong Funko
The issue ISNT the Pops, its that Funko ......exaggerates how much of them are on the market. I was a Funko dealer waaaaaaaaay back in the day (before Pops), and what ever they made - if they told me there's "1000 in the warehouse" there ended up being way more (and that was lamps and headphones). Then I got in on the "ground floor" with Hikaris. "Limited Edition of only 500 made", yet it was like Tribbles or Gremlins - they were EVERYWHERE and you couldnt keep up. I got out ages ago and STILL have Hikaris that dont move .... I'd loose sleep at night sitting on so much product. I wish Eternia the best of luck with it all .....!
I stopped collecting ALL physical items such as videogames, funkopops, toys, anime DVD, pokemon cards etc, because I got so sick of these resellers overpricing and ripping you off, especially if you want to sell some products, you know there's only going to offer 10% sometimes less for hundreds of items of what they sell them for, left a very bad taste in my mouth, and I stopped collecting after selling all my items for a bad price, I just thought, what's the point? I think these stores are their own downfall imo.
I have just started watching your videos. Besides the gorgeous products that we see with our eyes and fun personality, your genuine perspective and insights are so helpful when thinking about the hobby or just business in general. It is true that it is not all of your hard work but sound business approaches that makes watching videos what you built so exciting. Thanks for taking the time to put them together. Wishing you continued success in your ventures and I hope my travels take me to one of your locations in the future! With regards to Pops, I don't collect them but I agree with your assessment - I think of them like Hot Wheels where their longevity comes from a conveniently sized medium that incorporates such a wide array of IP that can appeal to so many niches.
My coworker husband has over$60,000 to $50,000 on the high end. $30,000 to $20,000 on the low end. He just sold it $17,000 just to get out before he gets stuck with them if it pops. He was a manager for a book store at the mall and he got first pick every time new ones dropped
Yup! Funko Pops are here to stay. They have a license for almost everything and don't take up too much room...unless you have to own multiple stores to house them. 😉
Also seeing this guy saying signed pops don't have as much value because a lot of people want to get them signed themselves when the girl was trading pops in... but when they sell them they will price them often ten times as much if not more, if the funko is signed. It's just obvious the resellers are scamming and ripping off their customers, that's why I like no longer collecting because truth be told these resellers do not deserve the business, they are more like scam artists than small businesses.

Once Pops went anime it was the downfall of the hobby. Suddenly the pop market was wayyyy too saturated with overproductions and 10 variants of each character for each show that was out there. Before all that the hobby was actually kinda cool because the pops felt rare. No offense to anime but that was the moment pops became uncool. Anime definitely isn't the only genre that has a ton of variants. You might be right on the variants (similar problem with comics now), but I don't think that can be blamed on anime, specifically.

It’s not the pops themselves because “bobbleheads” have always had following it’s the fact that Funko doesn’t give the pops time to gain followings….. they’ll have something out and before people can know about it it’s either sold out, poorly advertised, vaulted before people can get their hands on it, or variants are sent out waaaay too fast and it overwhelms the fans. Same thing that happens to a lot of tv shows nowadays. They spit out too many things at once and fans don’t want to spend the time on jt Personally I only buy the ones that I like certain themes or characters. Keeping stuff organized also makes for happy customers. I’m happy also to see there are businesses who are still thriving. I hope to visit your shops someday. Cheers ❤
It's interesting to hear they sell so well. I see them at the show I go to here in the UK and many a geek store. They just have not interest to me at all, but can see why people like them.
Problem w Pops. There are just too many. None of them are special any more. I have the same feeling w Star Wars now. There is just too much of it. The Collectible Market is totally saturated on both.
They are absolutely nothing like Beanie Babies. People have been saying this for years. Already Funko Pops have been popular at least 10x longer, not to mention all the big name licenses… totally different demographic/target audience. The issue with Funko recently has been over production. They’ve acknowledged this and are (hopefully) making changes to adjust.
The few that I do are displayed out of the box cause I always knew they wouldn’t be worth anything and that’s cause I don’t buy funkos they’re gifted to me. Now my other stuff that is valuable is definitely kept safe and displayed in boxes.
The only place they beling is in a landfill. I get depressed when I see these ugly plastic things take up a large space of a store. I just turn around and walk away.
I gotta know…do you have the Slipknot pops in stock?? If so how much coin would I have to drop?? Damn I’d travel from Ireland 🇮🇪 to get those in my collection at a honest, fair price 👌loving your content and badass stores, most of all is how y’all carry yourselves and treat people, with that I’ll leave y’all with best wishes and continuing success 🙌😎 Stay stellar and keep on keeping on 🫶🏻🇮🇪🔥
Why wouldn't you do it based on the number assigned by Funko? I mean, it might be better for the customer to "browse" by type....but would be WAY easier for you to do it via numerical value.
If you only collect one category of pops you don't want to look through every single pop to find the ones your collect. Most customers are looking for certain characters.
I am a funko pop collector and i think the problem is all the new funko pops being released depending on what they are, there not worth it, a lot of the more expensive or higher end price pops are a lot more popular, the only pops that sell out are con pops or funko shop exclusive pops that everyone really wants because its a big character. Newer pops just aren’t worth it while the older pops are cooler and hold more value, most commons just drop in price as soon as they come out because they have lazy designs or the show/movie it came from flopped eg. new aquaman movie.
I think Pops are like sports cards, they make way too many of them and they flood the market with the common pops that most people do not want. I do not own any Funko Pops, because I live in a tiny apartment and I do not have any where to put them. It also scared me off of buying any of them when Funko put $30 million worth of inventory in the trash. When a company throws $30 million dollars of their own products in the trash, that is not good news. Then you talk about a store in the mall, that seems to be a bad place to sell them. Most people I know buy from local smaller stores, like Walmart, or local coin and hobby shops, or online at Ebay, Whatnot, etc. I buy almost everything I need from Ebay, and get it with the free shipping. I do go to Walmart, but just to buy food, and Kroger too. I am 63 years old, and I have not been in a mall in 30 years. I do not collect cards or much of anything, except I do have 5 graded by CGC Spiderman comic books, and 4 graded by CGC Batman comic books. I bought them about a year ago as an investment, because I saw theyr were going up in value every year, and I plan to sell them in a year or so, most likely on Ebay, or Craigslist. I do also admit I am not the target age for Funko Pops, so I really do not know a lot about them. My brother had a place that sold Beanie Babies, and he had a ton of them, they were big for a while, then they went bust, and he lost a ton of money on them because the prices dropped to almost nothing. I fear the same thing may happen with Funko Pops one day, then again, I might be wrong.
Funko Pops could die tomorrow and I would not care that much. Is it cool my collection is worth a lot? yes. but thats not why I have them. I have my Pops cuz I like them. lets say Funko went bankrupt tomorrow and Pops became worthless, it would not affect me cuz I wasnt gonna sell them anyway. My philosophy is collect what you like, and since I like all my Pops and plan to keep them, I dont really worry about their value too much. in fact! it would be nice if all Pops were worthless cuz theres a bunch of super expensive old ones I really want lol. good luck on the stores and good luck on the youtube channel! I love Funko and anything involving toys or action figures or collectables so ill keep an eye out for new uploads.
Never got into Pops, only have one that I got as a gift. I think some of them are neat, but none of them are worth me spending my own money to have or collect. Your store reminds me of going to my local mall in the early 2000's to this guys shop that only sold beanie babies and yugioh cards, you don't have to put too many pieces together to realize his store wasn't around very long once they hype died...
Man you got a ton of miserly naysayers. Naysayers can really get a person down. Seems like they just assume a lot, while ignoring the fact that you are in an expanding business that is experiencing growth. Obviously that means the business is doing well and you know what you’re doing. People in comments mention saving up to take a trip to the store to make an event of it and drop a lot of money. Maybe if you show some of those happy people supporting the shop more, that will ward of a few naysayers.
they take up to much space, and everyone is going to be trying to sell at the same time. i have never seen a funko collection that don’t look like clutter.. invest in lego. such a better toy and collectible
Funko ruined their business model when they listed the company on the stock market and became beholden to shareholders. Shareholders only want profit, in their mind, volume = profit. So, they just started churning out endless amounts of Pops that nobody had asked for along with sweating the large IP's they hold, like Disney etc etc. It is no coincidence that pre-flotation Pops are far more valuable generally speaking, than post-flotation because the volumes were so much lower back then and lines got vaulted much quicker than today. I collect Pops. I liked the old movies, TV shows and cartoon stuff and only collected what I liked/was a fan of. These days I rarely buy Pops apart from a few, from shows that I enjoy like The Boys. My collection is worth 10's of thousands but I won't be really adding to it as they now just churn out the same Pops with different pain jobs on them, once I have a particular figure I have zero interest in getting the same one again in a different set of clothes..... I am a box collector, and they take up quite a bit of space. I collect lots of other figures too, if I went to your store I would end up having to re-morgage my house! Luckly for me I am on the other side of the Atlantic ocean😂 I like your channel, I subscribed 😊
I'm truly surprised that POPS! are still being collected. You would think that these things would have dropped off by now. I'll never understand why they're collected! Other than there's sooo many to chase down. On the flip side to that... There's at least one POP! that catches your attention. My one and only POP is the Knight Rider piece!
@@eterniadreamshonestly it is & isnt. Pops will be completely dead in couple years. Only the people who’ve invested a lot will be around trying to resell to the others whore still around. Sucks but just feel that’s reality
They won’t die aslong as people keep collecting and oh, it’ll take a WHILE for them to stop collecting because they are so many people that collect. A good example is their annual event “Funko Fundays” usually in July during SDCC the tickets sell out in seconds and there are 3200 tickets!
Sorry but you spoke incorrectly. Hobby DB does not base their prices on GEM 10 Mint. When you see a hobby DB price, that price is based on the average sale over a three-month period. They still have a high and a medium. Based on your information, I can only assume you haven't spent much time on Hobby DB.
The way I see it as a collector (not of pops tho) is it gets old going to a store and never finding anything you wanna buy because all the greedy resalers bought them all up then you gotta pay double or triple to get said iteam, it gets to the point where you don't even care to collect w.e. line it is, honest if these companies would keep filling the stores with w.e. iteam sales out it would destroy the resellers and they would be stuck with a bunch of stuff they didn't truly want but wanted to try and make a fortune off, be a shame also if the government got involved and enforced scalping laws on store iteams
What are your thoughts on Pops?

Keeping stuff organized also makes for happy customers. I’m happy also to see there are businesses who are still thriving. I hope to visit your shops someday. Cheers ❤
It's interesting to hear they sell so well. I see them at the show I go to here in the UK and many a geek store. They just have not interest to me at all, but can see why people like them.
Definitely have a fan base.
I'm new to the channel, does he ever do Toy Federation type videos? trade etc
We have done some in past videos. May do more in the future. Just depends on what walks in the door when our film guy is here
While I'm not the biggest collector or fan of Pops (I only have a few myself), I respect fans who do.
Problem w Pops. There are just too many. None of them are special any more. I have the same feeling w Star Wars now. There is just too much of it. The Collectible Market is totally saturated on both.
I can see that.
They print too much of the same character tbh
I base it on character .. not the franchise
Love pops!!!! They literally make pops for everything. Plus they are all the same size
Yea!
They are absolutely nothing like Beanie Babies. People have been saying this for years. Already Funko Pops have been popular at least 10x longer, not to mention all the big name licenses… totally different demographic/target audience. The issue with Funko recently has been over production. They’ve acknowledged this and are (hopefully) making changes to adjust.
worse than beanie babies, lol, rubes
Worse than BBs.
You keep buying/collecting while the company who makes them can’t throw them away fast enough. Good luck.
Never have been a fan of pops, have a feeling they are going to be be nothing but paper weights here soon
Oh?
I wonder why they never made any M.A.S.K. Funko pops.
Probably because no one buys our MASK figures! Haha
For funko's the box is everything , you never see a collection of funko's displayed without the box . . because many are ambigous looking .
You’re right
The few that I do are displayed out of the box cause I always knew they wouldn’t be worth anything and that’s cause I don’t buy funkos they’re gifted to me. Now my other stuff that is valuable is definitely kept safe and displayed in boxes.
The only place they beling is in a landfill. I get depressed when I see these ugly plastic things take up a large space of a store. I just turn around and walk away.
Right!!!! Our stores stopped getting funkos of all sorts. I'm so glad, too
I work at a GameStop and every week boxes of funko pops arrive, like wth we should be getting video games, consoles not this crap
I gotta know…do you have the Slipknot pops in stock?? If so how much coin would I have to drop??
Damn I’d travel from Ireland 🇮🇪 to get those in my collection at a honest, fair price 👌loving your content and badass stores, most of all is how y’all carry yourselves and treat people, with that I’ll leave y’all with best wishes and continuing success 🙌😎
Stay stellar and keep on keeping on 🫶🏻🇮🇪🔥
the best toy store in the world.
Great video can you do one on your star wars stuff
It’s possible!
Why wouldn't you do it based on the number assigned by Funko? I mean, it might be better for the customer to "browse" by type....but would be WAY easier for you to do it via numerical value.
It’s not how people search in the store
If you only collect one category of pops you don't want to look through every single pop to find the ones your collect. Most customers are looking for certain characters.
@@nwach-g6t I’m not sure I follow
Great Point ...but I think they still sell..cheaper probably
Very true
You think Walmart is a small store?
Funko Pops are nothing like Beanie Babies.
Awesome!
Thanks for the support.
Not all pops are as collectible as others. I only collect a few lines now. Music Cartoons ad icons horror. I don’t buy very many anymore.
I hate the sports pops. Very boring 🥱
I never got into funko pop figures really. only certain ones. I really, really wanted.
You should have bought Bitcoin last year instead of Pops.
they take up to much space, and everyone is going to be trying to sell at the same time.
i have never seen a funko collection that don’t look like clutter..
invest in lego. such a better toy and collectible
You don’t think Lego takes up space!? 🤣🤣
@@eterniadreams i think lego actually looks good, and is a real investment..
@@retrorampage9015 but pops are more uniformed and take up less space compared to legos
Luckly for me I am on the other side of the Atlantic ocean😂
I like your channel, I subscribed 😊
Thanks for subscribing!
Didn't funko destroy a bunch of pops
But either way, funkos went pop
Yea they did but every toy company does that. That story just made the circuit for some reason
Dime a dozen even the so called rare pops are garbage.
Yep. People like to collect what they like to collect
There isnlike 100 new pop release eaxh month and 70% are shelf warming junk lol
🤷🏻♂️
Remembered to sub this time
Nice!
They were always kinda lame figures.
All of them!?
Never liked the proportions of them. The super-deformed figures don’t do it for me. I agree with the Beanie Babies comparison.
It’s not a great comparison. Beanie babies lasted a summer.
Lazy products.
Pops are?
Plastic waste
I said the same thing. Their basically this generations beanie babies
That’s actually not a great comparison
@@eterniadreamshonestly it is & isnt. Pops will be completely dead in couple years. Only the people who’ve invested a lot will be around trying to resell to the others whore still around. Sucks but just feel that’s reality
They won’t die aslong as people keep collecting and oh, it’ll take a WHILE for them to stop collecting because they are so many people that collect. A good example is their annual event “Funko Fundays” usually in July during SDCC the tickets sell out in seconds and there are 3200 tickets!
Yes I think they’re here to stay
I’ve heard this comparison a lot, but it’s not accurate at all. The licenses alone make Funko Pops more collectible/better than Beanie Babies.
I agree with half of what he's saying
What half?
The people that have some issues are resellers. If you are a collector is all about fun and not buying all of them! Because are a lot!
Damn Charizard 9.6 lol hate those 😂
Sorry but you spoke incorrectly. Hobby DB does not base their prices on GEM 10 Mint. When you see a hobby DB price, that price is based on the average sale over a three-month period. They still have a high and a medium. Based on your information, I can only assume you haven't spent much time on Hobby DB.
Love seeing Allan being Allan. More monkey suits 😂
May have to!
Once U pop U can’t stop
Do they make a Pringle’s pop!?!?
Not for me, never rated them.
Rated?
As in "not highly rated"
😂😂😂funko pops 😂😂😂😂😂just the name 😂😂😂is a new way of saying "wabble heads" 😂😂😂😂 the only value is -7 sale them $1.00 each 😂😂😂
Love'm or Hate'm. THey're here to stay.
Where are we really as a society when grown men deal in used plastic toys for a living? God help us.
Eventually you won't be able to give them away.
😂😂😂 I know right... I'm a female and I used to buy these hideous looking things. I trashed them after I realized what real art was.
Boring designs made in China. I love toys but mine do things. I’m not into collecting things just to see if the prices go up. Stop buying now.
Never understood why people liked those things. I got a couple as gifts and they went straight into the trash
Could’ve sold them
Ok that’s just rude..
Why would you throw them away? You could have sold them or even better, donated them to some kid
To a point....to over saturated
Maybe so
Depending on which category you're looking at. I agree with marvel being over saturated. The ad icons are amazing
The ad icons are our best sellers!
Yeah funko is a sinking ship, ive been selling off any pops i have good thing there all old ones and are still kind of desireable.
You really think it’s sinking or it’s just been exaggerated in the news
