    Good video, thanks. Is that a cx carver truck you’re using. I have a c7, but told that a cx might be better for this type of riding. Or will it not make too much difference to a relatively new surf-skater?

    • @ChrisGenau
      @ChrisGenau  2 роки тому

      Yes those are the CX trucks :) well I’d say especially for this kind of skating the CX I suited a lot better.
      Mostly it is more stable so I think as a beginner you’d even benefit even more.
      In the flats you won’t be able to make as tight turns as on the C7 truck anymore however :) there are pros and cons to all things

  • @corymeyer9394
    @corymeyer9394 2 роки тому +3

    Can you do a video on backside transition carving, and how it is different from frontside? Particularly about weight distribution. I feel like I stall to much st the top of the arc and sometimes I shift my weight to far forward causing the front truck to turn in too sharply resulting in a sudden stop. Thanks for the content.

    Hi Chris, You say that timing the extension is the most important part and I totally agree as Im having problems with this. But I'm still a bit confused about when exactly to extend. Can you elaborate? Do you wait until the board is already up the slope? Is there a rule of thumb? Love the channel!

    • @ChrisGenau
      @ChrisGenau  5 місяців тому

      Hey there, first of all: sorry for making you wait a full week before getting an answer. But now on to your question. I think it is important to develop the correct feeling, but of course that doesn't help much early on obviously. BUT I would like you to start playing with your extension. Go out in your next session and try to extend at various moments. If you do it, that way you will hit it right a few times, thus giving you the feeling that you are looking for. And I promise, you WILL feel it, when you hit it. So experimenting and developing that feeling is absolute paramount.
      But now on the answer that will help you find the right moment. Looking at myself I think the moment I'm looking to extend is in the apex of the transition. So just when you boards hit the middle curve in between turning from flat to up-slope. And at exactly that moment try to think of your extension as if you we're jumping up and forward on your board, throwing your arms into the direction and help you project up the wall.
      I'd love to draw it out and get my thoughts down in a video haha, but unfortunately for now, here on youtube I can't answer questions with a video I think. So I hope my above thoughts make any sense at all to you.
      Let me know, if that was helpful, or if you have any remaining questions? I'm happy to try my best and help you.

    Hey mate! Is there a specific reason why you're using the CX truck as opposed to the more "surfy' C7?

    • @ChrisGenau
      @ChrisGenau  2 роки тому

      hey mate, sorry for the late answer, I’m currently in the process of moving 500km across the country :D so sorry again for not seeing this earlier
      most of my skating is done either in the bowl or in town when going from A to B so I like the added stability of the CX truck especially at high speeds - also I feel more comfortable power sliding to break if necessary in the city jungle on the CX trucks :)
