Hi Lucy- you claim not to be a perfectionist, but you most certainly timed this video to perfection. My recurring knee injury went again last Monday (04/07) forcing me to miss the gym for the last week. What I find truly inspiring about this video is your section on “being a beginner again” , something I’m already looking forward to doing. Cheers my friend!!!

I don't think I've ever nodded along to a video so much! So true about the empathy for other people.

I had a similar injury it was my L4/L5 disc bulge. It got so bad that a sneeze put me in so much pain I couldnt walk. It was really worrying and fear of the unknown. Luckily I had a very good oestpath who helped so much. I did lots of gentle stretches, my body was tight. It was a really bad time, even sleeping position was uncomfortable. I hope it never returns and yes NHS is useless. Glad to hear your recovering.

I had the same disc injury except mine kept moving out of place until it was more than halfway out of my spine and pinching off my nerves. I had to get a disc removal and spinal fusion surgery. Now a year after I had to stop training because of the injury I was approved for light workouts. The down time of zero exercise was really hard for me. It really became a mental struggle to not get depressed from not being able to train and seeing my body lose all the progress I'd gained. Thanks for sharing your struggle and how you pushed through it. I still have 6 months before I'm truly healed from my surgery so motivation is still needed!

Fantastic video!!! U explained everything perfectly. Thank you! I'm positive this will help many mentally.
I got sick for 2 months. I lost muscle, was scared to over eat. Once better, I started with just walking and yoga. Took me a month to get back on track. But I really it wasn't the end of the world 😩💕 you do appreciate everything much more!

Thank you Lucy. I got into a little accident and I won’t be able to workout for awhile. It’s so hard to change the mindset like you said. Thank you for sharing this. ❤

Hi Lucy! I JUST found your channel, and I'm so glad I did! I've been interested in calisthenics for maybe three weeks now, and I've been doing your workouts. I love them! They're perfect for me when I don't feel like using heavy weights, and I just want to move. Also because I want to improve my pushup form and eventually do my first pullup! I've been working out for two years, and I developed the same mindset that you began talking about. The fear of losing everything you worked for if you suddenly get injured. It gives me sooo much anxiety, and sometimes I'm nervous to miss a workout, and I actually have to remind myself too, that I won't lose anything. Thank you so much for making this video for us! You've been helping so much. 😄🤗

Have a disc bulge and waiting mental health therapy in a rural area without a car. So was really relying on picking up exercises and had to try to reduce the 30-40lb of fat on my body which is mostly upper body. Also struggle with pcos issues so always hungry 😢 when this disc bulge flared I was totally lost! Had torso numbness and sciatica but it improved in a few days.
My life is very sedentary with activity in the day. This has helped me so much x thank you x I see improvements already - hopefully can get back into something. As still pretty unfit tbh. One health issue or lifestyle change and mental health crisis recently has meant I’ve barely managed to establish a foundation of fitness. (Did lose two dress sizes tho before all this) and was in gym for a year

I understand what you are saying. I fractured my lower back and big tear on rotator cuff from car accident some years back. Little by little my body is adjusting but the mindset was key to not giving up.
I had this fear of learning to do headstands or a full non-assisted chin up but now I’m working at doing so mentally and taking baby steps leading up to doing so.
Will power is my key to making improvements and that moving the body assist in the healing process. Love your stretching routine and will incorporate more of that daily. Thanks so much. I’m addicted to chicken too🤣💪🏾😂

This video couldn’t have come at a better time!! I just had my second mri today. I have a disc bulge L5S1 as well and every single thing you mentioned from socks to the toilet is so on point. Its been about 8 months for me and it does really weigh on me mentally. Thank you for this video and bit of renewed hope!!

I am astonished!! I followed you from just a couple weeks as I also suffered from two disk bulges from weightlifting (L4L5 and L5S1). I was searching for an alternate activity mostly bodyweight as I am still pretty scared to get injured again... It's reassuring to know you can deal with it and recover from, also still pursuing a fitness passion! I'm soooo glad to have found you 🥰

Hi Lucy, I had a microdiscectomy for L5S1 disc bulge in November last year, I was 6 months unable to walk properly the pain was unbearable in my left leg and foot. 8 months later I am relatively pain free I get some slight discomfort in my foot and still have altered sensation in my leg/foot but back training 3 days per week with a PT and able to function as before, just having physio on my leg to rebuild strength. The hardest part for me now is getting the weight gain off and believing in myself, but I say to all my friends listen to your body I didn’t and pushed through my back pain, I’m thankful I have my mobility as before

I have been having the same struggle since November, it is simply not improving. NHS is useless, nothing has helped. Thank you for sharing your routine. Would love to see any more advice along the way.

thank you so much for this. I'm dealing with a herniated disk right now. Been in bed or on the couch for 3 weeks, just couldn't move because of the pain in my leg. Grateful that I can walk, stand and sit again. Not for long but for a little while so at least I can have diner with my family, and bring my son to school wich only is 300 meters. And it will get better, patience is the key but in the beginning it is so hard to believe that it will pass. I hope to get rid of the pain and the medicine in a few weeks but I will be carefull in my activities for a long time

When i was 15 i had a car accident and 15 years later im stl suffering with chronic pain in my L 4 & 5, S1 & 2. I recently had to stop walking on the treadmill as it has caused more damage to my body and npw trying to implement yoga, pilates into my day but struggling to accept my body changes and its inability to do as much exercise as it use to be able to. Im also a qualified nutritionist, yoga teacher and Personal Trainer but its difficult to accept for yourself. I no longer train others but I need to learn tobtrain myself now

Wow! I really needed to see this video ❤️.
I had to take a break (~3 months) from training because of a family event. And now I got covid. So probably another 1 or 2 months without working out. I feel so sad... And I really want to train, but my health currently makes it impossible. I am sure I will appreciate much more moving my body again once I restart training 💪
BTW, do you happen to know if there are any training restrictions once you get covid? Thanks and I wish you to get healthy and keep healthy 🥰💪❤️

I feel your pain 2 back injuries last year, a bad acupuncture session shut off the signals to my right leg and led to me collapsing on it and a partial tear of my rectus femoris affected me for over 6 months. I'm only able to begin working out now. I've had to take it slowly being in my 50s.
