You are the only person who talks about exercise and weight loss that I can relate to. Your view, from personal experience, about a long process that requires persistence and self-forgiveness and incremental change is wonderful. And you deliver in such a calm, encouraging and lovely way. Thank you! One example - I decided to cut down on sweet carbs during the week but make us some cake or cookies on the weekend. This morning I was craving chocolate so badly that eventually I said "screw it" and had some. More than I'd usually have but it's just one day and I didn't want chocolate all through the rest of the day. And tomorrow will be another day of no-choc and that's fine, we go on.
Hi Rose! Thank you so much for such a beautiful comments and sharing your example about chocolate too! It means a lot that you find the presentation of my videos calm and positive as I have always been nervous I talk too much, too fast or unclearly 😅💕! I think you have a fantastic mindset based on your example. Life is too short to berate ourselves for a day here or there where we indulge a little more and it is actually a good thing! Thank you for the reminder and I hope you have an amazing day! ❤️ xx
1. Categorizing foods as good/bad etc. 2. Eating back the calories you burned. 3. Relying only on scale weight to track your progress. 4. Having unrealistic expectations for yourself. 5. Keep it easy so it’s easy to be consistent.
Since I'm addicted to sugar, I go out of my way to avoid it completely. No ice cream, no chocolate, no cake, no you-name-it. It strongly depends on your personality type, I could never just eat a bit of chocolate. This always ended up in binge eating on it over and over again so I quit it 7 weeks ago. I cut back on hidden sugar such as toast bread, mustard and so on. Going cold turkey also worked when I quit smoking cigarettes in September 2020.
I quit bread a like a year ago, i just got fed up with it. Sugar sucks because when i eat candy, i notice that the next day i have a craving for it again. I just crave it more if I eat it. I haven't gotten rid of it yet at least and i don't know if i will. I have lost 11kg (24,2lbs) in a year! 🎉 Even if it's slow, it's still progress which im happy about🎉
Thank you, Lucy! You are the only person I have found with such a simple relaxed approach to health and weight loss-your videos make me feel calmer and less stressed. I have been tracking my calories for about 7 weeks and I lost 8 pounds very quickly, but the scale has been pretty stuck for the past 4 weeks or so. This video was good motivation for me to keep trying. I go to spin classes 3x per week, which I have been doing for a long time, but I am trying to incorporate some other things too like yoga, Pilates, or dumbbell work 1-2x per week. I have noticed that my endurance has improved in spin classes. Hoping I will see some more progress soon!
Yessss I absolutely loved the last sentence and it really put a smile on my face! You should be super proud of seeing increased endurance (spin is no joke 😅🥵)! Well done for all the progress you have made so far overall too! Give it a few more weeks and keep an eye on the other metrics (measurements, photos etc) and if it continues to stay the same just double check your TDEE at your current weight just incase that has dropped. Everyone is totally different though and it is probably just your body doing its thing - they do know best after all 😁! Thank you for sharing your comment and making my day! 💕💕
I am SOOO glad I stumbled across your videos. My doctor wanted me to completely cut out carbs and, as a pescatarian, I felt like that was impossible. I started to go down this path of really unhealthy eating patterns because I felt so defeated. Your short videos make so much sense and have made me feel like I can actually get back to my pre-baby weight just by being consistent and reasonable about my expectations. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
What you say about exercise is sooo true! I’m on a weight loss journey and I was facing a kind of “dark exercise moment” because it looked like I didn’t find the energy to workout! Then I saw videos about calisthenics (that’s how I found this channel) and I started to train because I wanted slowly to be able to do it. I’m far away still from doing calisthenics poses, but I’m so enjoying the workout (I really look forward to it)! I see daily improvements on my strength, I don’t care about my weight, I’m just focusing on how my body feels, stronger and stronger! I workout everyday at home and twice per week at the gym. As soon as I switched my way of thinking I changed my approach to it, I like working out for the benefits of seeing improvement and getting stronger and having the calisthenics as a goal, weight loss is just a nice “collateral effect”. Anyway great message in the video! Great and important tips!
I LOVE this video..as a PT and coach my self i still have to pick my jaw up off the floor when i see diets that demonise and moralise foods. I love seeing more and more popular platforms like this shine light x
This is honestly the video I didn't know I needed! I'm in a building phase at the moment and have been struggling with my body image as I've gotten 'fluffier', but knowing that part of it is water retention and inflammation has really helped me feel more at peace with it. Thank you Lucy!

Hi Lucy! I found your videos last November. It was Fate! I had just acknowleged to myself that I had put on 5 kg in the last year due to stress eating and my winter jacked did not fit me anymore. I was planning to go by a new bigger jacket when I stumbled upon one of your videos, and you inspired me to make a change in myself instead of my wardrobe! Something just clicked! So with minor changes in my diet I lost the 5kg in 2 months and I have managed to keep it off. You have totally changed my attitude towards food any myself. Thank you!
oh my goodness well done on your journey ... I just love that people are finding quality content creators that are shedding light on outdated and harmful weight loss practices and promoting health and strong mindset with a sustainable approach. I wish back in the day when i battled with yo yo dieting and all sorts of issues surrounding my body image and food that this sort of information has been available. I'm pretty new to this channel, what do you resonate with? x
I never leave comment on any videos but I watch a lot of weight loss tips and everything you have said basically hit the nail on the coffin. I have started my journey as of today with such aspiration and not so scared of being a failure like in the past. I've literally just walked around the room with headphones in my ears listening to your videos. As you said through your video of your routine during your journey , more simple movements and less food. So in love. Thanks so much for doing this. I wish I had a chance to be your client. I will share my journey 😊😊😊
Aww thank you so so much May, it absolutely means the world to me that my video helped in some way and that you took the time out of your day to comment ❤️❤️❤️! I look forward to hearing about your journey in the future xxxx
Thank you for encouragement . Going overboard on diets -restricting ourselves the foods we really love- leads to eating disorders. Yes, cut back but we need to give ourselves a break or we get so discouraged when we fail .
I really needed this today! I have been working extra hard taking a new boxing class and a new barre class and I’ve seen the scale go up instead of down and felt very unmotivated, but you helped me understand why. Thanks Lucy!
Yayyyy I am so happy it helped and you are totally right if your training has changed then that could be it! I hope you're absolutely loving boxing and barre! I would love to get into boxing classes too! 💪🏻❤️
Hi Lucy - thank you for your videos! You make things very simple and sustainable - quick question… hunger. When you were reducing portions, did you a)experience hunger pains and if so, b) what did you do about them?
This was so helpful. I've been bouncing around 2kg for 12 weeks now, and I'm so tired of it. Thanks for explaining that it will take time, it's normal. And yeh, I have seen other good changes.
This has helped me so much , I have been trying to lose 20 lbs since February.. I have walked weight trained and tried to put myself in a calorie deficit . At 48 and 49 I was in the best shape of my life and then I was blessed to find my new hubby and turn 50 together …🎉we have enjoyed some wine and good food 😂❤️. I struggle with never feeling thin enough and definitely some body dysmorphia😔I weighed yesterday and needless to say I spiraled with emotions and food. I had the worst day I talked terrible to myself and I felt hopeless. But the truth is I know what works and when I looked back at my log I realized I was not consistent in my calorie deficit. I was not eating terrible I was not necessarily over eating but I wasn’t consistent with the deficit I set for myself. Thank you again for always bringing perspective and balance back to my mindset. When I get stuck and can’t process through my thoughts especially regarding diet food and exercise it’s nice to know that we have you to coach us through! ❤️😘
Awww I can totally understand how you felt yesterday and you are definitely not alone with feeling that way 💕. It can be so easy to be hard on ourselves and for the negative thoughts to spiral quickly but you should be so proud that you were able to take a step back and assess everything impartially - well done ❤️! I have no doubt you will achieve anything you want but also remember that you are awesome right now too! xxxx

The past 20+ years yoyo dieting. I went between eating 1200 calories a day to lose weight and binging. Most recently I decided to pick a current goal weight, about 40 pounds less than my current weight, and calculate the calories used to *maintain* that goal weight. I am slowly losing weight and able to either turn down or moderately consume former binge foods.
THis is amazing. well done you - how are you doing with it...im well on the other side of binge eating so i know there is light at the end of thee tunnel, how are you doing it x
Thank you for talking about workouts temporarily increasing weight! The other week I weighed myself and I was so upset to see I’d put on 8 pounds. I’d done two workouts in the previous days and my period was about to start… a week later the weight had fallen back off. A previous me would have seen this as a failure and given up altogether. I love your videos and your realistic and above all super healthy (mentally and physically) approach to all of this! I'm curious about something of your own journey: you mentioned in another video of yours that you lost the weight without counting calories, just by reducing portion sizes. Did you ever experience a plateau? How did you manage? Greetings from Germany 💐
Hey Dorotea! Firstly thank you so much for your super kind words 💕! To be honest I didn't really lose a whole lot of weight for the first 6 weeks and then it came off relatively quickly for several months. After that it slowed down a lot because I was getting closer to a healthy weight and from there until today it has fluctuated loads due to various reasons! I hope that helps! ❤️ xxx
Hey Lucy! My name is Maybel, I’m messaging you from your old hometown, Melbourne. I have been following you for 3 months now and just want to thank you for all your inspiring content, I’ve lost 17kg since Feb this year. Love all your recipes and exercise videos, I’d love it if you could do some videos about how to eat and maintain weight loss during an injury. I over did it with running over Easter and for the first time in my life I injured my hip, recovery is slow but going in the right direction, still eating in a calorie deficit, but it’s the mental stuff. For someone who love HIIT type of training - walking 30-45 minutes each day is a buzz killer.
Aww Melbourne 💕💕 - have a good Melbs cofffee for me! Thank you for your kind words and congrats on everything you have achieved so far this year - you should be so proud! Oh that is a great idea for a talking topic and something that I too have struggled with! I'll plan to talk about it in a video soon but I agree the mental aspect can be super challenging. One silver lining is knowing how much you will appreciate it and how good it will feel to be able to train again in the future! Keep strong and get better soon! ❤️❤️
I like your videos. You are very nice, inspiring and always smiling person, which is cool. Bu the Best part of this video is your cool and cute cat. 🐱💖 I love cats, so it's very cool to see. 👍🏻😊🎉🍀💖
I know the usual advice is not to eat your exercise calories, but it just doesn't work for me. I rarely find myself hungrier after a workout, but I really value the extra leeway I get on days when I've been for a run or a swim! I aim to mitigate the overestimation effect by not tracking all exercise (I never connect a step tracker, track a walk or my really variable and ambiguous dance class) and then not deliberately eating extra if I find I have calories left. It's worked for me so far and I'd miss the flexibility I get from that extra 200 or so kcal!
Maybe you can swap high caloric foods to low caloric options? This is not sweets, but just for example: Eating cucumber with hummus instead of chips with aioli/cheese sauce/... Of the cucumber with hummus you can eat much more and be full and satisfied after less calories as with chips. You could search for other healthy food swaps on UA-cam. 😊
I find if I need comfort a nice hot cup of tea (lemon & ginger for me) gives me that. So if I go looking in the kitchen for food I just have tea instead.
Oh I 100% agree and I think it is important to consider whether weight loss is something that is the priority to focus on if someone has an ED or addiction. Our physical health and mental health are both as important as each other and I would always suggest, if possible, in that scenario that someone seeks support regarding an ED or addiction as a priority over weight loss and often can get assistance from a professional regarding both! Thank you for asking this question, sending all my love ❤️
I honestly disagree on the first point. Regarldess if you are trying to loose weight or not, there are foods which are simply unhealthy and in some cases even life threatening and should by any means be threated this way. Trying to loose weight should not become an excuse to "unlable" and consume those foods and while loosing weight, cause another serios damage on your health. my personal opinion is that loosing weight should always go hand in hand with trying to improve our nutrition and our general health. it makes no sence to try to loose weight and damage your health.
😁 You don't have to follow any specific diet but it can be a very overwhelming area for many people to navigate. Everyones diet looks completely different too 🙌🏻🤩

Loving the cat featured in the background 😻😻
As I’m on keto and fasting, I avoid bread 🍞 pasta and spaghetti which often left me bloated and extra hungry
I’m just like Lucy! I too like chips, coffee, chocolate, and carbs. Whoa! Everything fun starts with the letter C. That’s weird.
🍫👏🏻🙌🏻
But what if you have ED and food addiction :( its so hard to eat moderate anounts of sweets..
I am not a native speaker, and I really like the word tinkering. I am not sure though that it means what I thing it does...❤❤❤
I honestly disagree on the first point.
Thank you! I hope it helped ❤️
You are so cute i don,t follow any diet. Why diet is important
😁 You don't have to follow any specific diet but it can be a very overwhelming area for many people to navigate. Everyones diet looks completely different too 🙌🏻🤩
