Koko's Choice - Alligators or Snakes?

This video shows Koko (age 30) interacting with Penny and making choices about her preferred toys and her time. Koko’s caregiving team provided novel objects for her to interact with as a form of enrichment. Given the choice between snakes or alligators, Koko takes a few seconds to decide, then selects alligators. By expressing her preferences, Koko demonstrated that gorillas, like humans, can form emotional attachments and have individual preferences.
