Great video...I own all 3 plugins. Have been leaning on Silencer a lot, but am now curious to test Saturn and ProMB. Thanks as always for the great video and walk-thru.
In my opinion, Silencer is the best. I use it in combination with Sound radix drum leveler. Drumatom is an excellent but somewhat forgotten tool. With it, we can de-bleed and in addition even remove or silence, for example, snare or kick (or any drum instrument) from overheads or room tracks
The snare sounds great! Saturn 2 sounded the best in the context of the mix, the most natural. Silencer was the most artificial sounding one, Pro-MB was ok but wasn't as consistent
Oh absolutely. Metal/punk drummers of the less experienced sort (in the studio) are the worst at this. Also a great tip is use larger and thinner cymbals.
Yeah for inexperienced drummers it’s kind of overlooked, they just think it can all be sorted out in the mixing - bit a huge part of a quality drum recording/mix comes down to performance and the drummer balances their playing!
I never thought of mixing and matching these :) Any thoughts on oxford drum gate? I dont own saturn and now you're making me rationalize getting yet another plugin!! Love the channel man, cheers from new jersey.
Cool trick with Saturn 2. I use SD3 so, all I have to do is turn the 'bleed' dial down. If I ever join the human race and use real drums, I'm definitely trying this. Cool vid as always, Rhys.
Love your videos! So helpful and inspiring! Thank you for all you do. From one drummer/producer/mixer to another, keep up the great work!
Thanks so much Chris!

Always good to try different things! Some situations Saturn or ProMB is better than silencer and vice versa.
Thanks!
Thanks legend!
This video is a game changer. Trade secrets given freely. Thank you for this
Thanks mate!

Silencer works well!
broo everytime i watch your videos i learn so much!
Thanks mate! So happy to hear that!
Can you make a mixing video with stock plugins in logic pro?
Definitely something I plan to do
@@spinlightstudios It would be very useful for beginners, you have very good plugins and not everyone has them.😎
Very good videos, keep it up 🚀🚀

Yeah Saturn 2 keeps it sounding pretty natural which is impressive
Great advice for drummers to mix themselves during the recording performance!

I love sonnox drum gate! I use this and silencer! Sonnox's leveler is great as well!
I’ve never used it, but it looks good!
Please show also a mixsession from start to beginning with preproduction please. thanks
Good job!
Thanks!
I’ll rewatch this
Nice Video! What snare and what snare samples do you use on this one?
Hmmm I think maybe my Yamaha recording custom 13x6.5. Not sure about the sample!
do you gate before processing eq and comp? or after? cheers legend
Usually I gate early in the chain! But still might have EQ before it sometimes
Sonnox drum gate is excellent too
Yeah it’s a good choice too!
Thank you
No problem!
Wowwww Thanks ,!!!!!
You’re welcome!
