if i make canada as my location the picture work but whene i make france as location i have bing icon in windows 11 23H2 but in windows 10 all work fine @@TheBrokenTech
@@zekkarboualem I'm still not sure what your desired outcome is. Do you want it to stay there in all locations? Do you want a Bing icon in all locations? Do you not want either of them at all? In truth, I leave my location set to automatic, which defaults me to US, so I really don't have any experience with what you're trying to do no matter what that thing may be.
Just so you know, you're the top Google search result when searching how to get rid of this thing. It shows a large version of your video and a timestamp. At least for me, I honestly expected wayy more views.
I'm in the top Google results for a handful of things (all of them weird) and I'm _very_ amazed by that. It's like, "Hey, the internet called and needs your advice about something." It's completely bonkers to even consider that as a concept. 😂 As far as the views, the original version of this video is for Windows 10 and has about 3x the amount (and is also the top result for that the last time I looked). Still not many. I guess most people either figure it out on their own or don't mind it? In any event, I'm happy to help and glad Google noticed. I thought if it annoyed me and it wasn't dead obvious to defeat, it probably annoyed other people who also found it non-obvious to defeat.
I don't mind the picture but would you happen to know where it's pulling from? The image there is a very old, temporary logo for my company and I can't find where it's coming from to get rid of it. It shows up in several different places.
The picture I'm talking about in this video is served to you by Microsoft. If you're seeing something that is familiar to you on a personal basis, it's probably coming from something else.
This tutorial isn't for removing the entire search bar, just the "Search Highlights". To remove the search bar in Windows 11: 1 - Right Click the "Start" (Windows) icon 2 - Select "Settings" 3 - Select "Personalization" 4 - On the right, select "Taskbar" 5 - The top selection will be for "Search", change the drop down menu from "Search Box" to "Hide" If at some point you _do_ want to search for something (particularly a Windows setting), "Search" will still be available at the top of the "Start" menu. Just left click the "Windows" icon and start typing.
GOD THANK YOU!!! It was easy to remove in Windows 10, so they hid it in II trying to push BING crapola. You just saved me from having an aneurysm!
You're welcome. Glad I could help! 👍
Thanks for a quick and simple solution without a lot of bloat.
You're a lifesaver, and dear me that image in the search bar thing is just plain awful.

Thanks, man! Nobody wants to come into work and see a different picture on their desk every day. Those who do buy those tear-off calendars.
I'm surprised your IT group hasn't locked you out of being able to make those sort of changes. Glad to hear I could help! 👍

What outcome do you desire? Are you trying to change your location or are you trying to disable the highlights?
when I change my location to Canada or United States or another country set aside from Europe it works and the image appears@@TheBrokenTech
@@zekkarboualem Are you trying to disable it in all of those locations? Does it not preserve the setting it you change from location-to-location?

hi, if i whant that the images apear, but it only shows the bing icon, what can i do? help please
You can manually run Windows update and see if the option appears.
so it appears in some of the newest windows updates?@@TheBrokenTech
That's how it worked for me. One day Windows 11 didn't have it, and then after a Windows update it did.
I don't mind the picture but would you happen to know where it's pulling from? The image there is a very old, temporary logo for my company and I can't find where it's coming from to get rid of it. It shows up in several different places.

Thanks this was annoying the hell out of me. Like do I really need pictures of animals in my search bar?
I think one of the last ones I got was a Narwhal, which was also one of the least offensive things they pumped into my desktop. 😂
Glad I could help! 👍

Didn't work. The search bar is still there. I want it completely off of my task bar
This tutorial isn't for removing the entire search bar, just the "Search Highlights".
To remove the search bar in Windows 11:
1 - Right Click the "Start" (Windows) icon
2 - Select "Settings"

If at some point you _do_ want to search for something (particularly a Windows setting), "Search" will still be available at the top of the "Start" menu. Just left click the "Windows" icon and start typing.
