That's very unfair to Cavill considering being angsty is just one of the many sides of the character. Many other scenes had him acting hopeful, happy, series, etc.

ever they say its a bad superman reboot... it gets better in time .... great music, great scene its funny what ever marvel does... it will never be superman level if its at its best....
This scene was topped though when Superman defeated the World Engine in Man of Steel as he was being crushed by the astronomical pressure force we clearly see 2 seconds of Cavill's Superman turning into Christopher Reeve's Superman. A passing- of- a- torch so to speak scene!
I'll never forget seeing this in the theater. I couldn't wait to see it. Some guy ran into the theater on the way in and stumbled into a garbage can and it fell all over him. Turned out, that was the best thing to happen that night. I've never been more disappointed in a movie in my life.
I always used to be so sad as a kid when Superman says “Goodbye Lois” I thought he was gonna die and then watching this as an adult I realised that he was prepared to die, because that’s how strong he is. Despite his God-like powers deep down he’s human, he cares and would sacrifice his own life for these people, these people who are infinitely less powerful than him. In my honest opinion Superman is one of the most bravest and selfless heroes
Before man of steel, this was my favorite movie and my favorite Superman. I noticed lots of people who grew up when it was just Reeves (RIP) were the ones really talking down about it, but I grew up when this was the movie around. I’m sure kids who grew up around when man of steel released feel the same for that Superman in a way.
I am VERY agree with you . 100% . I saw this Superman with two months before in cinema in 2006 , and then I saw it again in cinema . It's the only one Superman movie I had in original dvd . One replica that in evident mode my thoughts was look to The Father God and His Son , Lord Jesus - You wrote the world does not need a Savior . But every day I hear people crying for One .
Even this original super man was the amazing one on here when I saw this movie, he reminds of me when I wanted to restore my own kinda power and use it to stand up for myself and take down my enemies that's tried to take me down as well.

If only my cell phone charged that quick...
I’m glad Brandon came back to the role, even if it was just for tv.
ever they say its a bad superman reboot... it gets better in time .... great music, great scene
its funny what ever marvel does... it will never be superman level if its at its best....
Routh did a great job.
This scene was topped though when Superman defeated the World Engine in Man of Steel as he was being crushed by the astronomical pressure force we clearly see 2 seconds of Cavill's Superman turning into Christopher Reeve's Superman. A passing- of- a- torch so to speak scene!
I just love this scene and background music
Such a freaking underrated movie. The feats alone in this movie are legendary 🙌 👏
Movie was stale at times but this was a great scene. Plus, Brandon was a pretty good Superman/Clark Kent.
I like how when he looks at Lois, the lightning flashes and the light reveals his full mouth and it gives the illusion of him smiling at her.

Hope cuts through the darkness. We need a superman movie with Brandon Routh now.
Beautiful imagery and emotional feeling.
Such an underrated film. Loved it. The soundtrack is epic.
This is actually a good Superman movie!
Love that part of the movie when he powers up from the sun. I was hoping they would do something like that In the new movies.
Imho, the best scene of any Superman movies.
This superman movie was epic
A massively underrated film
l love this scene. Superman in all his glory
"What are you doing?!"
"Gotta photosynthesize"
Superman is the inspiration behind “I can do this all day…”
This superman is jus great,an the most powerful superman of all the others that play superman in the movies..
I remember seeing this scene in the the theaters and got chills.....love it!
Me too
When Superman was on the other side of the clouds it looked like The Kingdom of Heaven
I'll never forget seeing this in the theater. I couldn't wait to see it. Some guy ran into the theater on the way in and stumbled into a garbage can and it fell all over him. Turned out, that was the best thing to happen that night. I've never been more disappointed in a movie in my life.
Love the scene. Religious symbolism is there but not overdone. Brilliant.
Honestly, I see him as Superman than Henry Cavil.
This part of Superman returns is my favorite part🤩
That’s the most inspiring scene I had ever seen , gave me goosebumps when I saw on the Theaters
I use to watch that movie just for this scene
I always used to be so sad as a kid when Superman says “Goodbye Lois”
I thought he was gonna die and then watching this as an adult I realised that he was prepared to die, because that’s how strong he is.

One of the best scenes in a superman movie.
Cyclops be like, "I'm sitting right here, Lois!"
The best Superman movie ever created
I am VERY agree with you . 100% . I saw this Superman with two months before in cinema in 2006 , and then I saw it again in cinema . It's the only one Superman movie I had in original dvd . Contain two discs . One is 2 hour movie , and the second is 3 hours documentary and behind the scenes , making of , and others . One replica that in evident mode my thoughts was look to The Father God and His Son , Lord Jesus - You wrote the world does not need a Savior . But every day I hear people crying for One .
And I have the soundtrack CD in original from 2006 and now .
I like to think that heat vision is as hot as the sun in this scene. Must be so hot to cut through the ground underwater like that.

I wish we could have had one more with him.
This scene is even better than the one in ZSJL! The music is outstanding
Nope
Yes
Son of sun
Son of God= Jesus Christ
One of my favorite epic memorable scenes in " Superman Returns". The Power Of The Sun scene.
Even this original super man was the amazing one on here when I saw this movie, he reminds of me when I wanted to restore my own kinda power and use it to stand up for myself and take down my enemies that's tried to take me down as well.
This movie is Amazing 🔥
Fantastic movie
Oh my god guys scene at 1:22 was perfect how powerful was the moment that he opened the sky Omg
Underrated movie along with Man of Steel.
