@@Abarenboshogun000 well to be completely fair, I don't think any sensible fan would deny that XG, like most kpop groups, have separate lyricists and writers. But out of all the ghostwriters in the kpop industry, whoever XG is working with, are the real deal.
She's so slick with the rhymes. "Put it on repeat like an encore" making a reference both to Jay Z's classic and literally doing an encore. All the references to Jay-Z overall sheeesh , 99 Problems, La familia, Empire State of Mind, "Like a rock fell out of the sky/ Roc-a-fella", "Gift and a curse", Blueprint, "C to the Izzo". I love how they are using each beat and their context to adapt the lyrics to it. Same with Maya and her "Million Cash" with all the money references.
Thank you so much for this comment. I caught a few references. Apparently their raps pay homage to a lot of rappers, especially old school.
I really like the way XG teases their fandom by continuing to increase the adrenaline starting from Harvey's rap as the opening and getting hotter until the final boss Jurin. They are just warming up before releasing their comeback Woke Up in May where all the members will rap, this is crazy.
"Show & Prove" could also be a reference to Big Daddy Kane's track of the same title, a posse cut featuring Jay-Z, among other MCs.
I definitely thought this was written as an homage to Jay-Z.

I swear, all of XG are absolute hitters, but if this young lady ever decides to go on a solo career she's gonna be a superstar and a new benchmark for female rappers. Immaculate style, immaculate schemes and real appreciation for the scene. Coco #1.
XG is extremely talented but K pop now days is all about marketing&promoting. Sadly the company didn't do a good job in the terms of marketing.
@@linyun842these are Japanese artist and their parent company is brand new. XG is there first and only artist so actually they aren’t doing badly at all. They’re doing very well the girls only have 12 songs out and remixes. So they are doing great. All their songs are just samples and test for what works and what people like. When they gear up to release an album they can take the marketing more seriously. And they’re all super young too so they have plenty of town to try more sounds and just build a fan base. It’s been really organic so far which is best in the long run

@@linyun842 i think they're rebranding their audience to international fan base now more than korean. But I think they're still doing fine especially when they make remarkable exposures like these covers. They're just not widely promoted/known like Hybe groups.

one thing I love abt XG is that they really require us to have hip-hop literacy and they just don't let us be like "oh Y2K flow~" but they literally make you listen to the classics from that era. They even pick up songs that are kinda lowkey now and show us they are actually fire. that I think is a form of their true respect.
