Brilliant! I’ve only made one and I used the vinyl method. Was so hard that my other blank doormats have just been sitting in my craft room waiting for me to have a desire to fight that again. Now I’m excited to try this method! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity….in a manner we can all understand!
Looks great! Great job! It's not easy to get the vinyl to stick to coir mats - paper is a good choice! I used freezer paper and actually ironed it in place on the door mat and than applied the paint. It peeled off pretty easily - just a few spots needed to be encouraged to release with a damp sponge.
This worked like magic! I wish I could share my photo cause it's flawless!! Do you know how the paint generally holds up over time? Thinking of adding these to my website, but I don't want to waste my time if they wear easily.
Mine held up last season, but it wasn't outside for very long before I swapped it for a Christmas mat so I am not sure if I can really speak to the longevity!
I'm so glad I came across your video! I just got a Cricut for mothers day and Ive been debating on trying to start a business. Im huge on throw pillow cases and doormats so I wanted to make them. Do you think those are good to start off with?
Actually had some oracle on hand so tried this method. It did not cut well, have to throw away and try again. But glad it worked great for you. What did you do with the paper you removed from the oracle?
I used exterior latex wall paint - i.e. the same kind of paint I would use to paint an exterior door or the outside of a home! I would make sure to use a paint that is meant for exterior use, acrylic craft paint might work for creating the design but it would probably not hold up very well.

selecting construction paper as material is not cutting through the vinyl backing. any advice?
Love it!!
Thank you! :)
What kind of paint did you use?

Wow, that's amazing. I think those would be excellent choices to start off with!!!

I threw the vinyl out that was attached to the backing paper since it couldn't be reused.
Can we use transfer tape backing? Also, is acrylic latex paint the same type of paint you used? I can't seem to find just "latex paint"

I love that idea! It looks great. Were you able to salvage the vinyl that you used the backing from?
Thank you!! I was not able to salvage the vinyl.
