The hardest thing is knowing that you screwed up so badly that you not only messed up your life, but injured others who trusted you. The emergency proceedures are real and would have avoided all of this if you had followed them. You are not heroic so much as a perfect example of what NOT TO DO.
This must have been extremely hard to talk about so... Thank you for sharing. This is my opinion on (Depression)... People don't really understand it because nobody talks about it or because they haven't gone through it. Depression is many things .. It can be... Grief, injury, guilt, trauma, loneliness... It's like a puzzle, you have the struggles of finding where the pieces fit and as you are finding more and more pieces, the easier it becomes! I not only wish you and your family well but I wish The Mikesell family well too!
Depression is such a mind blowing disease. Nothing worse than feeling alone in a room full of loved ones. More power to you Shad. Sharing is the most wonderful way to head towards healing. One little second at a time is how i make it some days.
You have been blessed to move from student to teacher. Motivational speaking is right up your alley. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your updates.
First off, remember you save six lives that day! I was a private pilot for many years but honestly, never loved it. Mainly did it so I could be a good co pilot for my husband. What you did was a miracle. Hope you continue to improve and if you want, fly again! Even if you have to get an instructor to go with you, do it. You saved everyone, including two children! God speed!
Thank you for sharing. I’m right there with you I’m a 1 year breast cancer survivor. What you are say resonates with me because just before my reconstruction surgeries I was going through that depression and then I went to horse therapy and that helped a lot to work through those BIG emotions. Sometimes when I least expect it those emotions hit me up the side of the head comes out of nowhere I have to deal with it. A lesson one of the many lessons I learned is I want to live my life with a purpose not just floating through it anymore. So thank you for sharing I appreciate it.
Very inspiring. You (personally and the Feild Family) and the The Mikesell Family will definitely have a huge positive impact on my life. And without the plane crash I would have never discovered all of you. And by the way with your skills and great decisions you saved 6 lives that day. Be proud of this. Kindest Regards! -- François in Montreal, Canada 🎼🃏🎶🎵🙏🌠
God is working through you to show empathy and love to others. You are such an inspiration to so many. You already are a motivational speaker. So proud of you!!!!
God knew you could handle this you inspire me the world can always use more people to share their stories .God knew that He could use you and Jazlyn , Betsy and Gentry , Brock and Boston for his glory . I have hard days as a ovarian cancer survivor this inspires me
Your honesty is a blessing 🕊 the book of Job helped me through a lifetime of suffering with chronic illness and many other things. The grieving process feels neverending sometimes. Grieving your old life or the life that was planned for you and finding the lessons in the pain and purpose on the new journey is raw and rough. Celebrating small victories helps alot. I found that happiness is fleeting but real peace and joy that's everlasting only comes from our Father in Heaven. I started to feel real joy when I stopped focusing on being healed or cured. And asked God to show me where he wants me, even through the pain. This world is not my home. We are just passing through. I know my eternal home is in heaven and I plan on enduring the suffering until that day. God bless you.
Most people don’t understand depression unless they’ve been through it. I’ve lost many friends because I have depression and anxiety. It’s hard for others to get it. Most people say “just be happy”. If only it was that easy... God speed to you.
Nothing’s ever boring when it comes from the heart❤️ Thank you for sharing, I’ve followed your story since the crash and find you very inspiring and now very relatable as well. We all have our own hard things, thank you for your encouragement today❤️
So amazed my your strength and perseverance, keep up the great, hard work. Those guys that heard your story, you know you may have saved one of their lives with your story! You may have convinced one of them to stay and fight. Alway tell your story with pride ❤️
Thank you for sharing your story and being so honest and vulnerable. I have also suffered from depression and have always said it is unexplainable - you did a great job of describing it. I love your ending, if you see someone who looks like they are struggling, reach out to them, notice them!!!
Your honesty and trials are an inspiration to all. You have a platform that can help so many. And I thank you for that. I pray for you and your family. Keep up the good work!❤🙏❤ God's work is in you!
I've been struggling with depression for the last year due to family and health issues and sometimes it's hard to just get up off the couch. There's nothing funny about what you're going through, especially the sexual dysfunction. I'm a prostate cancer survivor and fully understand that. But here is what is important in my life and has brought me great comfort, knowing my faith in Christ and he has supported me and has my back. He has yours too! Thank you for sharing your journey. Thoughts and prayers for you!
spinal injuries are different for everyone! people can have the same broken bone and have completely different injuries. i get it as someone who is living with a SCI. i have a very incomplete T6 i can walk some but am in a chair for the most part as it is easier. stay strong you will get thru this! you have a huge family and friend support system!
Shad you are amazing, thank you so much for sharing your story and I am so glad to get to watch your journey. You have come so far and your outlook is Awesome, so many people would just give up, thank you for showing us what it looks like when you stick it out!!!!
Thanks for sharing your story man, Your an inspiration! I’m 31 and had GBS from covid, which has caused severe nerve damage. Been really depressed so thanks for sharing your optimism and god bless bro!
Thank you for doing this video. I related to it and I’m sure there are many others out there that will also. Gabapentin is awful as are the other ones that fall into the same category. It’s a drug that has historically been used for people with seizures because it basically slows your brain down with the hopes of decreasing the seizure activity. I’m so glad you made it through that nightmare. I wish more healthcare professionals would really take time to educate there patients about the risk vs benefits about this class of drug. I’m glad I ran across your channel today. Hope you are doing well and continue to progress in your healing journey. Blessings and Happy New Year! 🎉
I’m inspired from people not being afraid to be vulnerable and real, sharing the good and the bad. Everybody has a struggle with “something” in life. Listening to the details of someone else’s emotions and struggles and how they feel and cope is inspiring and uplifting. There are a lot of lonely, depressed struggling people in this world for various reasons, and your correct, if everybody took time out and looked around to notice someone else and actually speak to them, it could impact someone’s day and be uplifting to them. Never know what the person around you is dealing with in their everyday life. Thank you for sharing your story and being real about your emotions and details on how your coping to get through the depression of your injuries.
Thank you for sharing Your journey. I know you are kick butt at everything you do. And if people think you are looking for a hand out they don’t know you. You are one strong man and the Lord has put all of your trials and tribulations to help out who ever walking in your path. Thank you stories. 🙏🏻
Finding this video tonight was no coincidence. Thank you, I needed to hear this more than you can ever know! You are truly an inspiration. May God continue to bless you through your healing. ❤️❤️❤️
Man, I won’t go into my story... but yeah, until you’re there and stare that unwarranted suicidal depression dead in the face and ask yourself why in the f*ck?! .... you just don’t get it. God bless friend, you made it! A lot of people don’t, and I hope you’re able to help others who struggle while going through that kind of horrible experience. Just like you said, unless you’ve experienced those feelings, you really don’t get it. God bless
You are an inspiration. Never stop being you and pushing hard and being true to yourself. Thank you for your family and the Mikesell family for sharing this crazy journey. Everything happens for a reason ❤️
Thankyou for being so honest and real about all your trials. It is so important that other folks do know and understand all the things you are dealing with. See the things you are making progress with and the things that are out of your control. You are indeed an inspiration. Don't feel you have to understand depression. It is an illness. You don't ask for it. You don't cause it. It just is. But with medication love and an excellent mindset you set your self up for success. X Ps how could I forget about God. He is holding your hand always!
Wow you’ve explained it really well. I dont like to hear it but it’s true how you explain depression and anxiety . I did the same tried to come off medication myself and boy did I suffer. The doctor told me I definitely need to stay on them to at least feb 2022
Thank you for this -such an inspiring video to watch. Please don’t stop sharing your journey and your struggles -it is amazing to see you achieve what you have through sheer hard work & prayer.
Keep fighting! Thank you for sharing. You are blessed with amazing family, support and a spiritual foundation that helps us all, through you! You got this, even when you feel like you don’t!! 🙌🏼🙏🏼
Thank you for sharing your story! I’ve followed you and Jaz since before the plane wreck and I’am so impressed with how you’ve all moved on and shared your stories! We need more families like yours today! You are an inspiration! Sending you and your family 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️!,
First off I’m so glad that you and your friends survived, such an amazing story. Secondly great video. Depression is a hard disease you can have a smile on your face and still be hurting inside. I personally struggle with depression and anxiety attacks. You take it day by day or like you said steps by steps.
Shad, if you get amazon prime watch the movie "The Map of Tiny Perfect Things." I think you can really relate to its message. You are now so aware of Tiny Perfect things.
Shad, I in no way think you’re looking for sympathy. We all love you and are concerned about you. I appreciate you updating us on your journey. Depression is awful. I’m happy you are getting help for that. I think it would be awesome for you to become a public speaker. You are so inspiring. Although I don’t comment much on your platforms, I do enjoy keeping up with your family. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers as you continue to heal. Shelli💕

You continue to show love, inspire & uplift. That’s all that Heavenly Father asks of each of us. Thank you for empowering us by showing that we CAN do hard things, and that life is still good & worth living💙 You are so brave & strong, keep it up!!!
Gabapenten changed who my husband was ! He’s off of it cause I told the doctor how he acted! He has back pain that he can’t get under control and has stopped living ! My heart wishes there was another doctor that we could get a second opinion! If I could take his Pain I would! He fell six years ago feeding cows from the barn and broke his femur and hurt his back and cant feel his foot! It’s hard seeing your hard working husband who lived and breathed farming to figure what to do next! Living each day as it comes! Depression is hard !
Continued prayers for you and your family Shad. Life has such extraordinary circumstances, and paths to journey through for so many different reasons. He put six lives in danger through sheer negligence and complacency. He should never pilot and aircraft again.
He nearly killed himself and a family. All his fault, quit being so dense
Shadrach, you are a better man than I could ever hope to be.....Keep on Keepin' on. Great video!

Continued prayers for you and your family Shad. Life has such extraordinary circumstances, and paths to journey through for so many different reasons. Bless you and your family Shad!
They will be impacted right along with you for forever changes in their lives!
My husband has MG head drop syndrome, and loss of muscles everywhere, We struggle with life changes more each day, but like you we keep going forward, and pursuing the best life possible with happiness!🙏🏻
Thank you for your inspiration and love for all!🙏🏻
hello i just land on your channel keep it up
😌
Or maybe you just screwed up in a big way~ forever altering the lives of two families. I hope you don't pilot another plane with passengers onboard.
John 16:33 “ In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
God never promised that our lives and what we may go through the challenges we may face aren’t going to happen. He did say he has taken care of things and he’s overcome this world.
I know semi what it feels like to not be able to do the things you loved doing due to an injury. Nothing compared to what you’re going through but I have broken my foot in the last 4 weeks and the challenges that come with not being able to walk really got to me more than I expected it would. I cannot imagine how you feel day to day but I really do like your positivity in such a hard moment in life. I really value that it may be hard but you push yourself through the hard things.
Praying for you that God continues to heal your body and the feelings and functions return at some point in time. ( his timing is best I’ve learned)
Amen!!!!
