Hey, Roy! I just wanted to pop a note saying how impressive your channel has become. I've been watching you since the beginning and it's pretty amazing how much you've grown as a smith, a teacher, and a content creator. Bravo, mate!
Your hammer kit would definitely save on the arm and the wallet. 😉👏👏
Great video Roy! Your recent tooling videos are sorely needed for beginners like me!
There’s no power/treadle hammer on the market that a beginner can afford like yours Roy! A high quality drill press or belt sander can cost more.
Great video comparing the different hammers. I cannot wait to use my Roy hammer as soon as it cools off in Texas.
This was a huge help to me. It really helped me understand the use and finances of a power hammer and come to terms that my hammer will need to be my primary means from bashing steel until I get more business and have a better need. Definitely looking at a treadle hammer for when I need a striker.
I have a tire hammer from Raymond Head that works amazing. Also pretty affordable
Awesome Video Roy as usual. lol If shipping to Australia didn't cost so much and I wasn't hoping to move over there sooner rather than later I would get one, and may when I move. I actually have the discontinued 9kg 20lb Anyang power hammer that I got off my Uncle, but can't set it up in the suburban situation I live in as it would just be too loud, whereas the treadle hammer would be perfect due to the lower noise that they produce. Oh well things for the future shop in the States.
On a side note did you get those bender photos I sent through?
Sorry been missing the lives lately but they start a bit early with our daylight savings times reversed.
Very interesting and very informational video today Roy. Thanks so much. Can't wait to see more videos soon my friend Roy. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Forge On. Fab On. Weld On. Keep Making. God bless.
Great comparison vid if you will.
Lots of options available, however for the hobbiest tools running 3 to 10,000$ are not within most All of our budget points.
That said your design is miles closer to being a viable option.
Then ingenuity sets the mind in motion. "Just a 12lb sledge..." Then the blacksmith gets ahold of it. Next thing you know the sledgehammer gets replaced w a head designed for replaceable dies design for drawing out or setting certain fuller's ECT ECT. Then the list of options seems to grow the usefulness a pretty good bit I'd reckon!
Blessing abundant Roy
Crawford out 🙏🔥⚒️🧙🏼♂️
Jamie has the 88lb model, which is now the 106lb I believe. Good stuff, I'm looking at the 178 but I really want a 250 mechanical hammer.
Nice price point comparison Roy. Could you do a comparison of your air assistant hammer, your power hammer that you sell plans for and say a tire hammer??
Good video Roy, I am currently building my inline treadle hammer using the same post thats the backbone of my power hammer, also home made. Its going to be a bit of an oddball machine but see no reason it will be anything but serviceable! There is a bit of monkeying around to get the desired stroke length with limited space between the ram and post but I have time and desire to see it working and will get it there!
Nice fare comparisons!
Thanks for the comparisons. I've wanted an in-line treadle hammer for years; I think they're inherently more versatile than swing arm hammers, but yours is certainly less expensive. I suspect you're thinking of making an in-line kit down the road, at least I hope you are!
What’s your opinion between a hydraulic hammer vs. hydraulic press?? Thank you for the vid. Roy!! 🍀🤙🍀
Would you need to buy bigger springs for a hammer of 20+ lbs, or can the ones you supply handle that heavy of a hammer?
I noticed that your last "Hardy Hammer" video was 5 years ago. Would you still recommend that as a way to get started with a power hammer or would you suggest your treadle hammer design?
Thoughts on a tire hammer?
Just FYI, if you check the Connect Automatically box it will attempt to reconnect on it's own. Good information though.
makes me REAL glad i got an ew bliss 1922 10 punch press for 80 bux with arbors and punches to convert into a powerhammer. i mean 80bucks... it aint quite the right tool but wow was it the right price! ( still considerin a treadle... help is hard to find and the punch press only has 2inches or cam movement so it wont serve well for some die work... )
🍻
Sounds like a tool they could use at Apple computer co.🤣😂
*LOL* Googles damned attempts to translate everything on site.

no one mentions christ in my ironhut
big blue hammers are garbage in their die retention. Massive liability. If you want the potential for your ties to fly into your body, buy a "big blue"
