Okay so I'm not a tattoo artist but I am a regular artist and for the girl who was quoted $500 and had to go back another day, I'll say this: If a client and I have agreed on a price, that's the price! Even if it takes me longer than I thought it would, that's on me for not taking my own skill/speed into account or managing my time properly. Yes, it's an inconvenience to me, but it's also an inconvenience to them, and it's one I caused. They shouldn't be punished for my mistakes.
But its not as set and the length of the tattoo can be dependent on how much the individuals skin can take, some can handle more than others and some skin is easier to work with. With that being said tattoo artist can give approximates so they shouldn't have to pay for the art per say but maybe considered tipping for the material cost. Also its never usually a set cost, someone can only estimate so accurately especially since this person knew they were going to an apprentice i.e. someone still progressing. But the artist should have known to give themselves a bit of wiggle room. idk I feel like since we only hear their side it's not something I want jump to assume they are in the right.
As a freelancer (writing and digital art) this is how I do it as well. I've definitely done work for far less than it was worth before, but it was a learning experience for me to better plan for the time and work that will go into a given project. Also, if something comes up that is definitely not my fault, I make sure to clearly communicate why I might need to charge more and it sounds like this artist did not do that.
This!! I’d say it’s way better giving an estimate instead of a set price. My tattoo artist said my tattoo would be a maximum of $500 and the price ended up being $450, I was well prepared to have it be on the higher end and the price ended up being fair to both of us.
Well I am a tattoo artist, and yes the skin and how the person takes ink affects how long and how difficult it will be for a tattooist, that is something we have no control over and can't know ahead. But if I tell my client that there tattoo will be 500, it's gonna be 500, I don't care if I have to tattoo them 1 day, 3 days, 5 days or even 10 days that tattoo will still be 500. For that reason, and especially if I don't have in person consultation I will tell them that the price will probably be 500 but can wary from 400-600 depending on the size and how the tattooing goes.
Yes. This was a learning experience for the apprentice. I’m a hairstylist not a tattoer but there’s a lot of crossover business-wise. When you are new, setting prices can be a challenge. I used to under estimate my timing all the time! That’s not the client’s responsibility. It sounds like this guy has a lot to learn about customer service, professionalism, and pricing appropriately. Hopefully his mentor checks his attitude.
About the girl that was quoted the 500$: The thing is she wasn't sure if this was the normal thing, paying extra because the tattoo takes longer. So, she did the exact right thing, she asked the shop (the shop owner I guess), the one person other than her artist that should know everything about their pricing. And they said no, you don't need to pay. So she didn't. I would have done the same. I'm sorry, if you and your boss aren't on the same page about your pricing go find another shop, or sit together and talk about it, but don't fight it out on the clients back.
The artist's behaviour made the whole 'who's right or wrong' thing pretty easy. Lauren seems torn but she's also not acknowledging the whole part where the artist is calling his client a scammer/thief unfairly
@@Tommyboypsp Or the part where the client actually made sure with the shop owner that she doesn`t need to pay beforehand. It seemed to have been a communication failure between owner and artist, which again, not the clients fault.
For the $500 tattoo one, if I were the artist I would've said "hey, this is going to take me a little longer than I thought and you'll have to come back for a second session. I quoted you the $500 for the whole piece, so today it'll just be $400 and then pay the remainder at the next session". If the artist had communicated their quote was hourly based, he should've given a range and made it clear like "I estimate this to take x number of hours but I charge per hour so it could go up to z number of hours too". If the quote was based on the piece of lion, cub, and flowers, it should stay $500 and that's a whoopsie on the artist part for not estimating and quoting properly. I wouldn't change a quote because I didn't realize I was biting off more than I could chew
With the lady quoted $500 and then asked to pay more, I absolutely think it should be the set price. Otherwise it could easily be manipulative. If she’s part way through the tattoo and then suddenly gets told it will be more, the tattoo is partially finished and you’re being pressured into paying more. Its a slippery slope if you start adding more once the tattoo is already started!
Exactly this - I’m about to get a rib piece done by an apprentice. She thinks it’ll only take 4 hours (~£175 for her); but she also provided me with cost info for hourly rates/what a full day would cost should we overrun for any reason. I’ve been quoted about £175, however it’s not a final agreed price because we had that discussion about how long it may take. She doesn’t include any breaks I need to take etc in the price, which is also lovely. She’s not taking any more clients that day just in case
As a queer, POC woman who lived in Ohio, I really hope that young artist is safe. Ohio is a scary place for a person to be any of those three; she's very brave.
Yes!! I'm from Kentucky, right below y'all & it's the same in KY. I moved 8,000 miles away the FIRST chance I got! I love KY, gorgeous countryside, but a lot of the ppl & mindsets there are tragic. 😭 I felt her story so hard & she's spitting absolute facts ☹️ Feels like we're going backwards. Fk, depressing! In Eastern Kentucky, we're basically ground zero for the 0piate epidemic. I've lost 8 friends to OD since 2014. There's def more that have died, but I stopped counting for my mental health. It's a battle for whether you stay to combat the mindsets, or leave to save your own life. Had I stayed, I'd legit either be dead or in jail, from addiction. God... I hope her & anyone who's able to leave, does if they want to. If they're lucky enough to. God that's heavy, sorry. I don't even have tattoos yet, I've decided on one. It's going to be the hammer & sickle, prob with roses(socialism). I just realized that esp if I got it in KY, that some may deny even doing it bc they're ignorant politically. Luckily I'm settling in India & it's not as taboo here ✊ I'll prob get it here then, now that I think about it, lol. Sorry to ramble lmao, sending love to all of you & that wonderful tattoo artist in the vid!! ❤🙏🏻
Exactly And if ur anything that isn't White, Christian, and Male I'm a woman and Im obviously not a guy I'm interfaith My dad is Christian (hes a white native american with irish ancestory) and my mom is Jewish (she's white with a complex family history) And my god there's an Asian family 17 houses down with pro Trump stuff all over the inside and outside of the house and all over their car including tons of Trump 2024 flags and signs They even have tons of Trump merch they carry around and wear constantly It's TERRIFYING The guys daughters literally harass me on the daily it's insane Edit: Yes, Mayfield Heights OH Yes the Trump lovers city
Certain parts of Ohio are getting better, but overall it’s a bright red conservative state. It’s self sabotaging too, because all those farmers/ industry workers are supporting republicans who are funded by the big lobbyists - lobbyists who’d wipe out those farms or close factories in an instant if they stood in the way of making money. As far as the tattoo community goes, it is still on the fringe of “normal” to all the conservatives so I have no idea why those artists feel they can judge anyone - let alone people in their own profession.
I had an artist quote me $500 for a piece. He couldn't finish it in one sitting and wait until after my second session, to then tell me that I owed him another $500 and it was in fact $500 for a day. I felt manipulated because when I originally asked for the price, he just said $500 and never mentioned that it would take more than one session. He was also one of those old school artists who treats others like crap.
I agree. Have seen some stunning Hellraiser ones but that's a movie series and it never harmed anyone irl. But if someone puts Dahmer or Manson on their skin imma judge.
I have a friend who has horror movie characters tattooed on her, like Jason, Kruger, and various others. Someone told her that it is basically the same as getting a real Serial Killer tattooed on you... I-... How do you even explain to someone like that, that it is not the same thing?
explain that no real people were harmed in the making of this movie and ultimately it’s entertainment. the victims where all paid actors. ultimately fictional horror is the most ethical way to engage in these topics especially as true crime has gotten more popular and exploitative. while someone can be similarly disturbed by a fictional killer as a real one, they are not the same.
Yk what that’s exactly what I was saying to my mum earlier today. I was talking about how some people get tattoos of serial killers, and she was just as disgusted as I was. I said that if the tattoo is of like- Ghostface, or Jason, or Freddy then fine that’s whatever. They’re fictional characters. But real life serial killers? Yeah no you don’t get tattoos like that if you have even an IOTA of respect for the victims.
My understanding is that a quote is an estimation of what it might cost, not a final price. My opinion changes depending on if the shop decided that she would be paying a flat rate or an hourly rate for the piece. If it's a flat rate, then the artist should have understood that is how much the piece costed, period. If they were working based on hourly rate, she should have paid the extra.
That's what I was thinking too. I have tested all of the options basically. Got my first Tattoo with an estimate price. The second one I paid for hourly (100€ p/hr) and since it took 1h longer than expected, I had to pay the 100€ more. But we did talk about that before and she gave me an estimate time with an hour give or take, so I was prepared for it. And the third I then paid for the whole day, so we could take as much time as we needed. Took 7h + 2h touchup a few months later and it was all covered by the flat rate.
This was my thought too, ive always taken quotes as estimates, though they do usually end up still being the price they initially quoted. I can see both sides personally.
Agreed but also, his attitude and the way he made her uncomfortable I wouldn't have given him a tip or the 150 he was demanding and unprofessionally talking about. There's a way you have to talk to clients about price and that ain't it
Personally, I do my best to give as close a quote on time as possible, for example 1.5-2 hrs at whatever the hourly rate for the piece is (my rate for custom & already drawn is different) I will also do flat rate pieces for select designs but only on arms or legs as other parts of the body can be more difficult to tattoo & take longer. My estimate for flat rate stuff falls between the longest & sortest amount of time I estimate the tattoo will take & don’t forget to add tax. A big piece like the lion in the video, I’d charge an hourly custom rate & give a bit more room on either side of my hourly quote. For example 4-6 hours, so the client is prepared to pay the max amount, or in some cases, pleased that it took less time than the max quoted! If I go over what I quoted, I will usually eat the extra or charge very little extra if the client is in the financial position to do so. Side note: I’m 10 years in & I’d say it took me almost half that time to learn the speed at which I’m capable of executing a tattoo & feel confident in my quotes. This will, of course differ from artist to artist ❤
If she has a rose tattoo or a butterfly tattoo, or a quote tattoo, …. She’s probably 99.9% of the adult female population w tattoos, so find someone who’s not tattooed.
Okay roses yes, super common (peony roses are particularly popular atm).. But butterflies, quotes, lions? Those are generally just kinda old fashioned but not insanely common among younger people. But this stereotype works 2 ways, if we're gonna apply this back to men it'd be; A compass or watch tattoo, a dagger or sword, or again.. a lion. It's dumb to generalize, these are common tattoo themes but they don't really say much about someone's personality, whether someone got a tattoo on a whim or went for cheap over quality.. That DOES say something and is a reason to stay away.
For the tik tok with the girl and $150 'scam' i think she was right to only pay her initial $500, i understand he's an apprentice but he should have planned for extra time then if he's still learning and i can understand not tipping him for all the attitude he gave her. Its a service industry and whether you're having a good day or a bad day you shouldn't take it out on the client or make them feel like they're a burden
Waiting for Lauren to become my sleep paralysis comfort demon 😂 blankets and candles plz 😅 loved this video also “crossed” is when you’re drunk and have smoked weed - gives you the spins - yikes lol
My most recent tattoo artist told me that her previous employer would massage her while she tattooed people. So glad I found her at a local place that puts an emphasis on creating a safe space for both women in the industry and women getting tattoos.
The amount of times you said shower when referring to the second skin stuff, reminded me of Elle woods in court when she keeps asking the defendant about being in the shower washing her hair 😂
The intro and outro were hilarious. Also I feel that lesbian artist would be such a safe person to go to. I'm queer, trans, a PoC and neurodivergent myself and it does affect the way I look at possible future artists because safety is a concern.
The thing that genuinely makes me wonder, after noticing a bit of a pattern through these videos, is that do people honestly not check what the stencil/freehand looks like on their bodies before starting the actual tattooing? Because in so many of these "I didn't get what i wanted" stories the tattoo artist wants to make it a bit bigger for the tattoo to be more legible/age better etc. and the end result is huge and nothing like what the customer wanted. Like not seeing the shading etc I can understand, because there are areas of your body you won't be able to see during the tattooing, but the picture itself, do people not look at the actual designs and sizing before giving the tattoo artist permission to start, or how do so many people end up with tattoos 5-10x the size from what they actually wanted.
I think some people just really need to learn to speak up for themselves. Like it's going to be on you forever, if you don't like the design and the artist is not willing to change it then you shouldn't just get the tattoo anyway. if there's a million red flags with the artist you shouldn't get the tattoo. tbh at 18 I probably also would've been a pushover and scared to say something so I'm glad I waited until I was a little bit older and more confident to start getting tattoos. To some extent I get what people are saying about "they're the artist I trust them" and I definitely do trust the artists whose work I really like or who I've been to before, but also if you don't like a stencil you're probably not going to like the tattoo!!!
In London, I was in the exact situation where the artist chose the size and didn't complete in 5 hours. When I went back for another 1.5 hours, they didn't expect any more money. I paid a tip though as they were amazing.
I also appreciate it! I follow another content creator whose "signature signoff" is to just stop mid sentence, and their videos are very frustrating to listen to
Lauren you always make me laugh but this episode in particular, has just had me cackling. You’re more unhinged in this one but absolutely in the best way possible 😭
I would say there is quite a problem with someone like the guy who got addicted to the aesthetic of tattoos (only front facing for selfies). In 10 or 20 years this person will likely regret all these things he did for a trend. He doesn't have an appreciation for tattoos, he has an appreciation of himself and wants to look cool. Interesting video thank you. Just randomly came across this. I have been collecting for about 23 years now.
When i was a fresh tattooartist/ apprentice, i was very bad at estimating how much time and effort a tattoo would take. I made an entire leg (from ankle to bit over knee) for 300€ and because i was so slow, it took me 7 or 8 sessions. It was also highly detailed, dotwork, blackwork, schading, lines. I didnt have enough guidance and for a long time, it happened pretty often i would take wayy to low of a price. Then, for those clients, i got even more insecure to tell them the next price, because they were used to that extreme low one. I now am a pretty good tattoo artist and have learned a lot, i still lean on the lower price end for the quality of work that i do, but im fine with that. I learned pretty quickly, so the sleeve turned out well, considering i was an apprentice, so the guy got lucky. He said i was way to cheap for the work i did, but didnt offer to pay me more. What im getting at is, apprentices lead to undervaluing themselves i think.
I had a similar situation where I was quoted 500 dollars for something (and on top of that- it was to match my other leg with a similar design by her that I DID pay 500 for) but she didn't finish. She asked for 700 at the end despite not finishing. I mentioned that we agreed on 500, and the last tattoo was 500, and 700 wasn't in my budget. I had gotten 600 out of the ATM (money I was planning on tipping with) so we settled on 600. However since she didn't finish and I had to come back, the shop minimum was 100 so I paid another 100 to come back another day to have it finished, so 700 total. I love her work, but I did feel kind of jipped since one side cost 500. Still paid it though
I’ve had two tattoos that I tapped out and had a second session. Yes it cost extra both times as a day session is often a discounted price to get it done in the day. A second appointment is more set up and cleaning, more time that could be another appointment, more ink and equipment used which is why it’s charged on top of what was already paid. If it’s not done in the day rest was charged a per hour rate over. Plus I was advised it would take longer in the second day that it would in the same day as they have to be careful not to go over healed areas or discolour the linework. All agreed upon before leaving the first session.
I am so sad that she is going through this but I am so so proud of the Ohio woman, she is phenomenal and so inspiring to other queer/gay women and artists in general !!
Lauren, I love how you passive-aggressively threaten to be my sleep paralysis demon to make sure that I'm comfy and cozy 😂 I had a bad day, so I needed that! Thank you ❤️
On the $500 tattoo, I would have likely tipped $150. And not tipped any more. But I also understand how she felt like he was rude and the shop was awkward. So I get her not tipping. But I think any tattoo that size should probably be quoted as a price per hour. Then give an idea of how long the artist thinks it will take with a clear indication that it may take longer than that. That situation could have been avoided with a per hour price.
Gotta admit, that pumpkin flail was brilliant. 🤔 Also, the mised horror and respect you have for the person who got all those tattoos at once and then dry-removed the Saniderm . . . ! 😂
I’m excited Bones was finally in one of your videos (the chic pulling all the 2bd skin off) she gets full day appointments and fits in many tattoos. She’s such a cutie.
I think it depends on how the shop handles quotes. For some it's an estimate for some it's THE price. Best to clarify, however, IMO, it's up to the shop to make that designation and not leave up to the client to assume. It does seem like it's a quote not an estimate in the shop's eyes so the the client is off the hook and the artist should be pissed at the owner not the client.
I've had the situation with having an appointment in which my tattoo wasn't done and I had to go back to get it finished. I think it depends on your experience, because my artist was so nice to me and very caring, I didn't mind paying more. She also apologised multiple times but to be honest, I get art in return that's on my body forever with an amazing experience attached to it. If I had refused to pay, the tattoo wouldn't have turned out that great because it would've spoiled the experience. Nothing worse than working on something without getting payed I imagine. But in the case of the tik tok, the fact that they were being quite rude, it would've made me salty and annoyed as well, I would not pay more than the quote they gave me in advance. I mean, most artists don't give an exact price tag because it depends on the situation and client's skin etc, but he made the mistake of putting a price on the art so he should not get mad if she only pays that amount.
I love the aggressive cuteness of making sure I‘m cozy. Lauren, I really love your videos and the way you come across. You definitely manage to calm me down after a long and exhausting or anxious day. So than you a lot really
Thank you for your videos Lauren, thank you for keeping me company during my panick attacks, especially the night ones which are pretty scary. Thank you for not making me feel alone, I love you and wish there were more people like you ♡
The kitty is fine! I found a comment from its human. This was taken after kitty had already been to the vet & cleared…like, a week after 🤣 Stencil paper is carbon based & NOT carcinogenic like some were saying in the comments just fyi 😉 but it do stain like a mofo 😂 🎃I have some of those pumpkin ink caps too & they are adorable as heck!
The 'owed' tattoo money would totally depend on the fine print of the shop. I know some do a one and done price and other specifically charge by the hour/time. If it wasn't specified that if the tattoo took longer then estimated there could be an extra charge then Id say the lady was in the right. I know I would be pissed if someone tried to charge me what is esentially a 'hidden fee' that wasn't mentioned anywhere prior.
That look when you said "oh dear" at the end 😂 I saw the plan manifest in your head! But can't blame you, that is such a cool tattoo idea! Great video as always and really love your hair colour!
When you started looking whether you had space for a pumpkin flail style tat i felt that. I only have 3 tats myself currently (tats are expensive i cri) but i have so many planned that i immediately start mentally tallying up whether i have space for anything else lol
You know what no matter how shit my day was you always make me smile and I always take my time to watch your videos at the end of the day. Thanks for making my day a little less shit and making me happy.
The $150 dollar bit omg that’s crazy. I had a tattoo where neither me or the artist knew how long a tattoo would take but we stuck at the price quoted originally. Ended up being lot more dot work, also had to come back for another session which I also paid for. The first one I was also unwell and couldn’t do more than 5 hours. But asking for more money then bringing it up again with clients bf is a total red flag 🚩 (May have misunderstood the situation, please don’t hate me) The dry saniderm one was cringe! 😣 Poor girl @ 27:00 😮😢
That sun looks like it's opening a portal to the Abyss. Also, I'm more than positive that Will could make a noise like that if he tried! That dude has some serious talents.
love you, lauren! also when's the last time you've done an updated tattoo tour? also would love a q&a or video of some kind about your blast over sleeve! i'm super into black work and considering a sleeve of my own. i'll stop rambling now lol :)
Idk if it's just me, but I've had cases where Saniderm has bruised my skin, mainly because of the adhesive, so after watching all of the series it has been my number one priority to remove it under the shower. It left marks around the tattoo about three times so I've been careful ever since, so seeing the person removing it dry was painful.
So "crossed" is being under the influence of alcohol and marijuana at the same time. I've heard of being "cross faded" but never heard it referred to as being "crossed"
With the $500 quote - I think I would be fine paying extra, but that’s because I generally understand quotes to be an approximate. My last artist gave me a range instead of an exact quote, and it ended up being in the middle of that range. I think that system works great because it can be hard to know exactly how long something will take. But she asked the shop, and they said the quote should be the price, so if that’s how it works at that specific shop her artist had no right to be rude about it. As a client that must’ve been so awful getting tattooed by someone who is pissed at you, I wouldn’t go back there ever.
I think where she went wrong was not saying anything when he first told her about the extra time and 150. I think if she had spoken up they could've even found a middle ground and maybe done another 100 or something. It was worth a conversation. The $500 was supposed to cover the entire tattoo. She didn't ask for anything extra; the artist didn't book enough time, so it shouldn't really fall on her to pay more because he didn't anticipate enough time. One could argue that she also needed to use her gas and time coming back for another appointment when she was expecting the single visit. But since she walked away having agreed to pay the 150, I think for that reason she should have paid it. The shop's voice shouldn't be louder than the artist's when he didn't do anything wrong. I don't think his sour attitude was appropriate either, but I do think she was in the wrong for not speaking up right when he told her.
I don’t believe she agreed to pay the $150. She didn’t say anything because she was confused and didn’t want confrontation. She messaged the shop to clarify. It definitely would’ve been easier to have spoken up in the moment but I also understand where she’s coming from. It can be extremely intimidating to speak up for yourself in a situation like that.
I think the problem with the tattoo apprentice is that they are still learning how much time it might take for their tattoos. Maybe he quoted based on the fact he thought it would take five hours and then realizes at that point he needs more time. He should have given an approximate quote……$500-$600 depending on the length of time. It happens a lot in house renovations. Someone quotes you on a job they think will take a day and then the job is not finished in a day. I think if it’s an exact quote they have to absorb the loss. I think with time he will realize maybe to quote a little more based on a time factor. She was very quick to jump at booking the tattoo when she heard the $500 quote. She knew it was a good deal so personally I would have met him halfway at least.
I've never felt as wholesomely threatened as in the intro of this video 😆 Would be a great idea for your ASMR channel, too, something like "sleep paralysis demon aggressively makes sure you're cozy" 😆
@@cat.book.nook. I'm okay now, my anxiety has just been so bad these last few weeks and I have NO clue why. I did get in touch with my therapist and have a session on Monday. Thanks Boo ♡♡ I appreciate you
@@autumnbranscome1741 I feel you :( I also get some periods of feeling down or anxious without a reason, even despite going regularly to therapy sessions. It's the hardest I think, because not knowing why you feel bad makes you feel worse. But UA-cam really helps me to forget and feel better for some time! All of the best to you! 💕💕
Thank you, Lauren, for being our comfy cozy sleep paralysis demon 🖤😂💜 also, love how you shared finding a spot for that tattoo idea, from start to finish this video honestly saved my day, thank you 🤗
As an artist, if I quote an amount to finish a tattoo and they need to come back, I won't charge them more A pack of needles and a bottle of ink dont cost $400, and sometimes I underquote pretty bad, but tattoos are expensive enough as is, and the underquote isn't by any fault of the client so just gotta suck it up It is what it is
That was my fave intro to a video ever, how could you be that wholesome 🥺 Also I love how long you leave your caption clips on for so I can actually read them without having to fumble around rewinding and pausing just to read what the heck somebody has typed
As someone who does art commissions, I give a quote before I start work and if I end up working longer on the piece than I had anticipated, I personally do not ask for more money. With pieces that are larger or more complex or im not sure how long they'll take, I can set a price range so the client at least knows about what to expect and then quote them when it's finished. But once there has been a set price agreed upon, I dont change that because it's not fair to the client who thought they knew what they were agreeing to
The whole paying $500 and then being expected to pay more: my thoughts are if you’re quoted a figure than in my opinion that’s the figure, if an artist potentially thinks it could cost more then they should quote between figures; $500-$700 etc I have paid a little more at times due to that range quote
lauren : out there threathening me till i get cozy me : took the habit of waiting to watch her videos because i love watching them while having breakfast for cozy reasons* this might sound a bit much but you don't even know how much i love the cozy part of the intro, it really warms up my heart and make me feel like someone cares
My tattoo artist touched up the tattoos she gave me while working on a new tattoo. I asked her how much it would cost beforehand and she straight up told me that nah it's perfectly okay that she'd touch up her work (small bits really) and I just bought her a gift on top of tipping her. The fact that the tattoo was basically a month after the previous I think made the difference? My tattoo artist is fantastic though
Touch ups are generally free though, especially within a year. Every artist I've been to has offered me at least one free touch up. The only ones who haven't have been guest artists, which makes sense bc 1. they probs don't even know if they'll be back, and 2. they're only in one place for a few days so having a bunch of touch ups wouldn't make much sense
as an ohioan i've never had an experience like this with a tattoo artist personally but im glad she said something cause if that is something going on it's super important!
i have never been told i had to pay more, but my last tattoo was originally quoted for $200, but he took his time to give detail and fit my theme enough that it took 2 hours. So for adding a tip I paid $300, but i also would of been willing to pay more because i just love it!

Lauren: Oh, you "love" your best friend? Name five of my tattoos.
Yasmin: Roses.
Lauren: ...that's on me, I set the bar too low.
LOL!!
I agree. I really hope she makes it far in her industry to. She has passion and that's what we need in this world right now for various reasons.

I am unable to not leave a healthy tip. I would consider any extra, a tip and I'd have paid $200 more.
The only serial killer tattoos I’m ok with are the fictional ones like from slasher movies.
Yes! The horror tattoos are 🔥 but actual killer tattoos are 🗑
This, if the artist was thingking 500 for 5 hours he should've specified that that quote includes five hours of work only
That's what I was thinking too.
That DOES say something and is a reason to stay away.
lolol right!
I have a rose and a butterfly lmao
I have three tattoos - rose, butterfly and peony lol
I’ve got a quote. Damn me and my love of books. 😂

My most recent tattoo artist told me that her previous employer would massage her while she tattooed people. So glad I found her at a local place that puts an emphasis on creating a safe space for both women in the industry and women getting tattoos.

Oh my love 🥹🧡 sending you a huge hug!!
I loved the stencil but the artist was so rough that it all blew up
I can't think of a less sanitary place to get a tattoo than Walmart
In London, I was in the exact situation where the artist chose the size and didn't complete in 5 hours. When I went back for another 1.5 hours, they didn't expect any more money. I paid a tip though as they were amazing.
That opening bit about us being cozy had me CACKLING

I'm actually having a horrible time, my depression is just... not good. You saying you'd find me and make me cosy made me smile. Thanks for that
I wish I could bring you tacos and a blanket. hope you feel a little btr soon
The intimidation to get comfy 😂😂😂 actually laughed out loud
Thank you ❤️
Honestly a sleep paralysis demon of comfort sounds like something we all need
On the $500 tattoo, I would have likely tipped $150. And not tipped any more. But I also understand how she felt like he was rude and the shop was awkward. So I get her not tipping.
But I think any tattoo that size should probably be quoted as a price per hour. Then give an idea of how long the artist thinks it will take with a clear indication that it may take longer than that. That situation could have been avoided with a per hour price.
Gotta admit, that pumpkin flail was brilliant. 🤔
Also, the mised horror and respect you have for the person who got all those tattoos at once and then dry-removed the Saniderm . . . ! 😂
I’m excited Bones was finally in one of your videos (the chic pulling all the 2bd skin off) she gets full day appointments and fits in many tattoos. She’s such a cutie.

@@LanaAndJen most artists call them tap out sessions, and you pay a flat rate and get as many tattoos as you can in 8 hours💖
Your comfy cozy monologue at the beginning always genuinely puts me at ease 🥰🥰🥰

The sleep demon segment was one of my favorite Lauren segments either. The cozy demon would be a great tiktok series.

The coziness threat 🤣 okay okay I got my snack and blankie now!
@@Kunstenaarus agreed. it'd be one thing if she didn't even contact the shop at all, but she did.
no he fucking pulled a bait and switch she shouldn't had paid the extra quotes are the agreed on price you can't charge more after it.
To take this stance feels like saying "silence means yes" which is incorrect. She said nothing, so she agreed to nothing.
I disagree

It's the hardest I think, because not knowing why you feel bad makes you feel worse. But UA-cam really helps me to forget and feel better for some time!
All of the best to you! 💕💕
You'll be ok. Talk to us.
it's snowing where I am, and that aggressive coziness was exactly what I needed
Thank you, Lauren, for being our comfy cozy sleep paralysis demon 🖤😂💜 also, love how you shared finding a spot for that tattoo idea, from start to finish this video honestly saved my day, thank you 🤗
As an artist, if I quote an amount to finish a tattoo and they need to come back, I won't charge them more
A pack of needles and a bottle of ink dont cost $400, and sometimes I underquote pretty bad, but tattoos are expensive enough as is, and the underquote isn't by any fault of the client so just gotta suck it up
It is what it is
That was my fave intro to a video ever, how could you be that wholesome 🥺
Also I love how long you leave your caption clips on for so I can actually read them without having to fumble around rewinding and pausing just to read what the heck somebody has typed
But once there has been a set price agreed upon, I dont change that because it's not fair to the client who thought they knew what they were agreeing to
Your videos are literally so wholesome and I do have my snacks 😄also I was having a bad day and this video made my day better so thank you!
Best intro ever!!!💕😊😊😊
I’m very cosy btw and covered in my blanket 👍☺️
Lauren is extra spicy this episode and I am so here for it
Oh La La thank you 😄
That whole introduction 10000/10 love the comfy vibes 😂
The whole paying $500 and then being expected to pay more: my thoughts are if you’re quoted a figure than in my opinion that’s the figure, if an artist potentially thinks it could cost more then they should quote between figures; $500-$700 etc I have paid a little more at times due to that range quote
lauren : out there threathening me till i get cozy
me : took the habit of waiting to watch her videos because i love watching them while having breakfast for cozy reasons*
this might sound a bit much but you don't even know how much i love the cozy part of the intro, it really warms up my heart and make me feel like someone cares
that intro 🤣♥ i love you!
I’m loving sassy Lauren today.🥰😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I also love Lorna Shore, so props to the reference! 🖤
