We agree. There are so many cities in Europe that are like museums with a lot of fancy buildings but not a lot of day to day culture. In Naples people still live in the alley and streets around the old part of town and everyday's a happening.

I know foreigners who actually moved to Naples just for the food :) Of course Naples has a lot more to offer as well.
That pizza looks amazing! And such an unassuming shop from the outside (when the crowds aren't there).
Napoli is a relatively unassuming city but da Michele is a really large place with a flurry of activity once you enter.

Thanks so much! We try to be as nice as possible while we're eating our pizza. Naples can be crowded for one week after Christmas but after that it's easy to get around. Have a great trip and check out our pizza guide on the website.
we were in Naples for only a split second, but when we were in Italy it was amazing to see how many pizzerias there were, and how tasty they are! your videos make us miss Italy! and great lesson not to trash a place unless you've tried it! that was cool that they use an actual wood burning fire.

It's just one of those combos of bread, tomatoes and cheese that can't be beat. We have a new rule that states that we can't eat pizza anywhere else for four months after we've been to Naples.
Ooooh I didn't know that pizza place is in Naples! I visited the city when I was 15 - I guess it's time to go back!
The pizza is fantastic and there's some even better pizza all around the city. There are also so many more things to see if you travel to Naples. It's a fantastic city.

There is a council that applies certain rules for pizza margherita but just about anything can be placed on a pizza as long as it tastes good.

Actually Margherita is 100isch years older. The story about Brandi invented is fake. He just dedicated to the queen bcs they have the same name and bcs the coulor like the flag. The name came from the flower: Margherita means deasy

What is the best time to arrive at Da Michele. We may in Napoli again early 2019 or late 2018 Just me and my Philly Blue Eyes,
The best time to get there is at 11am when they open. A crowd may gather early but since there is ample seating inside you should get in pretty quickly. You'll also get in almost immediately in low season (Winter, after Assumption Week which is a full week after New Year's Day.) Warning: Late 2018 into week 1 (Assumption Week - See above) of 2019 may get crowded because of the holiday season.

So sorry, guys. You’ve rarely steered us wrong but this one is a definite “blah.” Have had a better pizza in New Jersey. The dough was chewy, not well done. The flavor of the sauce and cheese were average and unmemorable. We waited 45 minutes - we didn’t mind that part - while my husband searched stressfully for parking. Three people, two Margharita pizzas, two beer = 18 euro. Left with one of the two pizzas uneaten - that’s how “meh” it was. Leaving this review so you don’t feel bad if you eat pizza elsewhere. It’s probably better.
So sorry that you’re not fans of Da Michele. We filmed this video in 2017, returned in November 2020 and stand by our opinion today. Pies cost €5 during our last visit so we’re not sure how your bill added up to 18€. We’re glad you found a parking space but would advise most people not to drive a car in downtown Napoli. It’s an ancient city, not a shopping mall. 😁
