I was Pagan specifically I was a Norse Pagan, I went through some health issues that made me question my beliefs… During this time a good friend of mine recommended the chosen as a starting off point into Christianity. I now read the Bible, Sundays start with church and I’ve accepted Jesus into my hearts as my lord and savior. This show gave me the perspective that when I was a child in church I didn’t have, and it made me want to dig deeper to see what the Bible says. I recommend this show to anyone, and use it as a tool to bring back the lost into the light.
I don’t like how they disrespect John The Baptist by calling him “creepy John” John The Baptist had followers also. And by the mouth of The Messiah he was called the greatest born among woman. Let’s not forget, he was also sent by God.
@@peace7384 I’d agree without context but think of the context of that… They weren’t following Jesus yet, and back then to the Jews John was just a man preaching essentially what was considered blasphemy back then.
That is wonderful. I pray you continue getting into the Bible and developing a relationship with Jesus. That's what I love about The Chosen, that it van draw anyone to read the Bible and get close to God.
With 99.9999 of the junk coming out of Hollywood you would think that we would be thankful that there’s something finally on TV the whole family can watch together
Exactly! Why do we tear down something that’s actually wholesome but then some of the critics are the same ones watching game of thrones and justifying it.
@MC-bp1dm IF, you saved and in the Lord Jesus Christ, filled with His Spirit, you would know, not to openly support anything the devil crowd does. Praying and reading the Bible is a must for a strong Christian believer. Lots of deception on tel lie vison.
I've always been a believer of Jesus, but not a follower. It wasn't until I began to watch The Chosen that I began my journey of being a follower of Jesus. The show led me to the Bible, and the Bible is leading me to my journey to righteousness. Unless Jesus Himself tells me not to watch The Chosen, I will support them 💯. Thanks for your input.
If you have found Jesus, then you have found Righteousness. His Righteousness is the only one that matters to God. Therefore, we can have our own righteousness or HIS.
My fiance who is not a Christian has started to go to church, has started to listen to worship and is praying with me. He has even started to read the word as he wants to follow up on the episodes in depth. it has been a great source for a new believer like him. i can see him becoming that man i prayed for.
Did you convert after you were together? That’s amazing that he’s finding Jesus. I have been watching the chosen and I’ve cried so many times- God really touched me while watching it. I’ve felt his presence in the room with me. To all the naysayers- I will just tell them that God used a donkey to deliver a word so I’m pretty sure he can use what he needs to so he can reach people! Praise God! 🙏🏽💜
@@jenniferdiaz6675 i hear all these people saying- you should just read the Bible. But for all the non-believers out there this is a great way for them to hear the word of God that they might have not been open to any other way! Smh. I’m glad your fiancé was touched and is seeking God!! 🙏🏽💜💜
Then keep praying for him because this show is not based on Christian principles, it came out of some guys imagination. Don't be deceived. Practice your God given discernment. Read your Bible!
@@grumpyomas now he is picking up the bible and he can see reality from fiction but i do believe it helps spark an interest. For a non believer these words are like another language. God can manifest in many ways and if this was the way for him to meet Jesus then glory for that
I went back to church after being out of church for several years by watching The Chosen. I found Jesus being human and having emotions just as we do. I personally loved it.
I that is similar to my experience. Before I even had heard about the Chosen, I saw an ad on Facebook. I clicked on it saw Jesus telling Matthew to follow Him. In that scene, Jesus laughed and smiled, and that helped me to see Jesus as real and the earthly side of Him.❤
The problem is that shows like this are not biblically accurate, and often create false ideas not found in scripture. Then these false ideas tend to persist and are a hinderance when people are shown what the word of God actually teaches. At the end of the day, its a tv show that is made by people that are either unlearned in scripture or purposely deviate from scripture for financial gain and wide acceptance among religious groups. The Methodist church also believes in a works based salvation, something that Bible refutes over and over again. The Bible teaches that salvation is not by works at all. It is a free gift given to those who trust Christ and his sacrifice as the only atonement to save sinners.
After the death of our son, my husband had an existential break with his faith in God. For the next eleven years, not only did my husband not have a relationship with God, unable to pray, unwilling to go to church, failing to read his bible - all things that were not his norm - we also didn't even have a picture of our child in the house. Our marriage was breaking because we could not mourn together. Two years ago, I asked if he would watch one of The Chosen programs with me - and it broke his hardened heart - He returned back to God, and within the year our marriage began to improve, and now in the second year, he is attending church and praying with me at night before we go to sleep.
I am sorry for your loss. I had a similar, I lost my father. He was my best friend, my rock, my spiritual guide, and the strongest Christian I know. I needed him SO much when he died. I couldnt understand why he had to take him then when I needed him the most. Thank goodness for this show or I may not have found my way back. Hugs.
Ignore the last comment of ignorant scottstar. Nothing in that comment was mormon. The chosen can spark the interest for people to read the bible go to church and fall in love with Jesus and that is a blessing.
I agree - and Reading the bible through about 10times the last 5 years - this is a very good portrayal. this is not perfect no - but it looks like many people have started so many people in reading the Bible!
Since my wife started defending Christianity against some local Mormons she and I are very cautious with anything Mormon related. They don't believe in hell and say satan promised the truth when he said we can become like God. They say that God planned Adam and Eve falling in sin and that this event opened for Mormon believers the way to become God's on our own. Mormons contradict the Bible in almost every Christian teaching. If you talk about grace, Jesus, Holy Ghost, God the Father, marriage, heaven or any core believe they have their own understanding for these words that have nothing to do with the Bible. They try to make disciples within Christian communities. Btw Mormons watch The Chosen although they are a completey different religion. This is a warning sign for me to not watch this show.
True, but should we take the Muslim position and say any depiction of God/Jesus/The Holy Spirit is a sin? Or should we appreciate The Chosen as a man made (and therefore imperfect) version of the events described in The Gospels?
The chosen literally brought me back to christ!! Brought me to tears, and I never cry. I'm as tough as they come, but this literally brought me to my knees and made me love Jesus mote now then ever before!!!
And where do you think Dallas got the script for the show? THE BIBLE. WHOA! AND, historical context learned through research! WHOA! Why do you think God gave man an imagination?! And thinking ability? And reasoning ability? Please exercise those skills.
It took a movie to get you to read the Bible? How about the conviction of the Holy Spirit? If you want to know about who Jesus is, read your Bible. We don't need a movie to know who Jesus is. The Chosen takes way too many liberties and doesn't point us to the real Jesus.
@@gregmatz3693 let's be kind here. God uses a variety of ways to draw His children to Himself. The proper response here is to celebrate the fact that Dana is now reading the word however she got there.
@@thebeatagp the truth is the truth. I just finished reading the Bible in a year and I have been so blessed by it. I don't need a movie to motivate me to read and study God's word. It was the conviction of the Holy Spirit. A brother in Christ asked me if I had watched it and I said no. He actually got upset with me about and I told him as I would anyone else, if you want to learn about Jesus, read your Bible. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth.
@@thebeatagp what does the Bible say? Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God. I have never read in the Bible that faith comes through watching a movie.
I’ve shared this show with my mom who is/was and atheist. After the 3rd episode she turned to me and said, “That’s a Jesus I could believe in.” This has helped me lead her into some very important conversations about faith. She has even started to ask questions about scripture!
Now I want to watch all three seasons again. I don’t think there was an episode where I did not shed at least one tear. Very deeply spiritual and high quality production. I’m glad to have seen it and my expectations are at an all time high. The Chosen brought more thirst for the Word of God to me.
I have never commented on any topic before but I must as a Christian make a comment on the Chosen. I am 68 and been a Christian for over forty years. I have never, doubted, question or misunderstood anything about the Father, Son or Holy Spirit except one thing, His Humanity. Yes, He is God and yes he is a man but it was always difficult to wrap my Mind and Heart around that. The Chosen has opened my Mind and Heart and I now understand it. Now I know and understand Him in a way as I never did before. I can’t wait to hug Him !
Let me make a comment here to you, and explain something to you that you might not already know: Jesus has TWO NATURES! A HUMAN nature, and a SPIRITUAL NATURE! Jesus was born a human, with feelings just like you and I! He felt hunger, thirst, anger, ect, all the emotions that we feel! However, the Holy Ghost, The Spirit of God, that lived WITHIN Him, did the work! John 14:10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. There are many more verses I can post to prove this, but this should be enough. Just in case you don't already know this! The Trinity Doctrine was invented by the Catholic church hundreds of years ago, and is NOT a Christian Doctrine! The Fact that The Spirit of God, lived IN the body of Jesus, does NOT signify that there are two PERSONS in the Godhead! God IS the Godhead! Jesus Christ is the physical embodiment of God! 1 Timothy 3:16 God was MANIFEST in the flesh! God was SEEN in the flesh! Isaiah 9:6 says, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." This verse is speaking about Jesus! How many Fathers do we have in heaven? How many Jesus's do we have in heaven? ONE! RIGHT? Now, if Jesus is, "The mighty God", and His FATHER is God, then you have TWO gods! The Bible is CLEAR, however, that there is only ONE God! PERIOD! Not one god consisting of three persons! Is God a PERSON? NO! God is a Spirit! John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Is the Holy Ghost a PERSON? NO! The Trinity Doctrine is a blasphemous, Satanic, Heretical Doctrine, invented by the Catholic church! I have many more scriptures to prove my point! If you are interested! Read and study the word! God's word! Do your own homework, as I have! It will open your eyes to the Truth I speak of!
@@sirhood1848 I'm not Catholic by any means. I believe Catholicism also has a different Jesus by exalting Mary in the way they do. However, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Trinity) is indeed presented in Scripture when the disciples are instructed to baptize in the name of the three. Several times Jesus received worship, and Thomas called Him "my God". Jesus never tells anybody not to worship Him. He was and is God in the flesh. Finally when the Trinity doctrine refers to three Persons, it simply means three entities with their own personality. Like it or not, the doctrine of the Trinity is Scripturally correct.
My husband is being baptized this Sunday and I have no doubt us watching the chosen was the spark that initiated this journey. My father in law has watched it all and started his journey and I am rewatching with our 10 year old and it has just been an amazing tool! I tell everyone about it. Thanks for doing a clip about it and love your videos and ministry!
There are at least three scenes in The Chosen where the content can be called not just extrabiblical, but unbiblical. (spoilers if anyone hasn't watched all three seasons) 1. Peter's anger at Jesus. Peter was rash, he was stupid at times, and he denied Jesus. But nothing in Scripture depicts any direct anger or hostile defiance toward Jesus. 2. Jesus questioning John the Baptist's rebuke of Herod. This is not just putting words in the Lord's mouth (which itself should be a no-no); it's adding ideas about His will that He never even hinted at. 3. Jesus asking Matthew for help preparing the Sermon on the Mount. God the Son needs no one's help to teach. His teachings are His word alone. These are neither Biblical nor "plausible." The show can make all the disclaimers it wants, but it claims to present the "authentic" Jesus. There is nothing authentic about a show that is mostly fiction, including the Jesus character. If a dramatization is mostly fiction, then it is all fiction. A man-made representation of God can never get Him right. It will fail to capture all that He is; or, like The Chosen, it will add to who He is. It will reflect us more than God. It will be something we can control. It will be made in our image, reversing the order of creation. The only acceptable depiction of Jesus is the one God Himself has given us: the Bible. Only the Bible captures Him perfectly, and tells us everything He wants us to know, and everything we need to know. God doesn't give us "plausible," He gives us truth. "Plausible" is worthless. The Bible does not need to be made more "interesting" (Allen's word) or be "brought to life," as many people put it. We don't need to see Jesus. We don't need to know anything else about Him. The Scriptures alone are all we need. If anyone reads the Bible because of The Chosen, that still doesn't justify the show's distortions, and we don't know whether those people's perceptions of the Bible are being influenced by The Chosen instead of vice-versa. That justification is pragmatism; we're not at liberty to do anything that works in reaching people.
It's great to see someone speaking and defending the truth about this show rather than compromising with it. A lot of "Christians" are showing which Christ they are truly following by defending this show harder than the Bible.
Thank you for speaking the truth of God! Thank you for being bold in your faith! There's too much compromise today within the body of Christ. Personally, I think this show is to help bring in the one world religion, and most, if not all, involved don't even have a clue. May God bless you abundantly in your walk with Him! ❤️✝️
My father left the church years ago. He came to visit, and I had him watched the first few episodes with me. He continued to watch on his own, and reported back to me that he had been studying the gospel as a result. I think it is safe to judge the Chosen by its fruit....more people looking for a relationship with Jesus.
You just hit it out of ballpark. We have the Holy spirit, this seems shocking to some Christians. Christians who constantly need to be told what to do need to allow the Holy Spirit to mature them. Influencers, UA-camrs and others give their opinion. It's up to us to search the scriptures for ourselves. Some of the previous, not all, love to stir up strife in the body. Let's all just be careful. Thank you brother Allen
The problem is, if people don’t know what the Truth of God’s Word is then how will they know if it is the Holy Spirit or not? Let’s keep the Word of God pure and our minds sharp so we know the difference.
I poersonally did not need any of the UA-camrs to tell me the wrongs about the chosen. The Holy Spirit most likely showed me. Jesus is misrepresented in this show. Did the Jesus of the Bible need to practice the sermon on the mount? and on top of that need to ask his disciples for advice?! That turned my stomach. God did not give us creativity to misreprent His Word.
I’m 73 and trusted at 19. I believe it’s different for a babe in Christ and someone who has walked long with the Lord and has daily been taking in His Word. The Lord can and does use this series. But to one who has long been studying the scriptures, it’s too grievous when liberties are taken. This has nothing to do with legalism, but with having a greater understanding of His Word because of growing up in Christ. Babies need milk. I can understand there is milk there in The Chosen. Let’s pray it draws people who don’t know Him to seek Him; and that those who have been nominal believers or new Christians, to come to the “table “, where the Lord feeds His people: His precious Word. “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4)
The chosen is a wonderful production and is drawing in people who would not otherwise even concern themselves with the life of Jesus and would never even consider themselves reading the bible!
I must admit, I did not look at it from that angle. I heard a pastor say once that people can be saved DESPITE the sinner's prayer and not BECAUSE of it. If God can use a speaking donkey to get someone's attention then the Holy Spirit can certainly use the Chosen series. I see there are a lot of comments praising the Chosen series for positively influencing them towards God and that is absolutely wonderful. PRAISE THE LORD!!! My hope is, as they grow in spiritual maturity they will see the Chosen series as the tool God used in their lives and put the emphasis on God rather than the series. God's richest blessings on their walk with the Lord. 🙌🙌🙌
Well done. I have read the scriptures, but this production has sent be back to a deeper dive in study. I don’t know how many times I’ve paused the show, picked up my Bible and checked out what was in the show. I have watched the three seasons twelve times: and each time found something new. I echo all your comments and watching this video has been a blessing because it introduced you to me and I look forward to your message in other videos. God bless.
Saying you shouldn't watch The Chosen because it takes creative liberties is like saying you can't appreciate Da Vinci's The Last Supper because it's not an actual photograph of Jesus. This show has brought me and many others closer to Jesus, and that's a good thing.
As long as you do the studying on your own to make sure what the show is telling is accurate right? Because believing in a false Jesus will get you nowhere. Muslims believe in a version of Jesus too and it’s definitely not correct 😬
U can't accidentally doom urself becuase u misunderstood something how people before Jesus saved? It's Becuase they wanted to seek God and Gave their life to him The same way for people like the commenter who misunderstands the concept but wants to follow him
If Christian that have been in THE SCRIPTURES long before the came out are saying they will not watch it.Alot of things in this world a writer can take liberties with...Not God's word. Satan from the start has been dedicated to Twisting the Scriptures and Mankind has had a history of buying into Hook,Line and Sinker. All you need is the Bible and all you will need for the rest of your life is there.
Well if you don't mind blasphemy then you be you. False teachers are subtle. The more you know and understand scripture the more you see how Satan works his deception. We are commanded to not misuse the name of our Lord. What did it for me was having Jesus asking a disciple how he should write the Sermon on the Mount. The goal of this show, and this new He Gets Us movement is to humanize Jesus and make us comfortable in our sin. It's about showing the loving forgiving side of God and deliberately omitting the God of wrath and judgement side. This is promoting the new false Jesus movement. Far too many people are experiencing emotionalism and not experiencing the true nature of Christ. Scripture warns us of this great deception in the last days. "Having a form of religion" but not knowing Him at all....
Dont watch it, the vibe, the spirit in it seems different than the Holy Spirit, its subtle but pray for it to notice., for example Peter's brother says, “He said ‘behold’...” and Peter interjects, “I am eating a bug”, thus nullifying the moment
I actually cried alittle through certain scenes because the show really makes you feels as if you were there with the messiah in the flesh. It’s good stuff❤️
Matthew 13 - The Parable of the Sower 13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 2 Such large crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat in it, while all the people stood on the shore. 3 Then he told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. 4 As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. 5 Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. 6 But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. 7 Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. 8 Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop-a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.” 18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”
What a crock. There's a lotta deception in christianity... too much... We're fast moving into Matthew 24:24 territory... Basically, Allen's a businessman lookin to improve his bottom line by pandering to naive, undiscerning christians/the Chosen fans... but, *like Jesus said,* we can't serve both GOD and Mammon. Simply put: the Chosen presents ANOTHER Jesus (2 Corinthians 11:4) - NOT the Jesus of the Bible. Allen's utterly BLIND if he don't see that..... It's no surprise Mormons are involved... they present ANOTHER gospel (Galatians 1:6-9)
A personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, reading His words in the Bible, knowing what Jesus really said, not a show putting words in His mouth is how we truly know our Savior. If you need a show that over and over again portrays a pretend Jesus with pretend words to make you feel closer to the real Savior of the world, then there is something wrong. Scripture says to examine ourselves. 2 Corinthians 13:5 Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you--unless indeed you fail the test?
I actually like the Chosen I’ll keep watching the whole series…I think it’s well done and it’s not to replace the Bible of course and with anything you watch, watch with discernment
Absolutely the best scene! Also, the scene later where Nicodemus was reluctant to follow Jesus, while not in the scripture, helps give us a window into the mind and heart of Nicodemus and the internal struggles he endured as a believer of Jesus.
If something isn't in the Scriptures then would you say they are adding to the Scriptures? I enjoy reading Scripture everyday and I'm not lead to watch mans version of God's Word but I also believe it could be what God uses to encourage others to read the Bibical accounts so I don't tell anyone not to watch it.
Although when he falls down on his knees to worship Jesus in the scene, Jesus tells him not to do that, which is obviously an attempt to make certain cults who don’t believe Jesus is God happy.
Someone told me that the scene involves Nicodemus kneeling to worship Jesus and Jesus refuses the worship. Is that true of that scene? If so, Jesus refusing worship would be un-Biblical.
After watching several shows of the first season of The Chosen, I felt compelled to pick up my Bible and read the New Testament again. The fact that they made the disciples and others multifaceted people, instead of just flat characters made me feel like the people in the Bible were real people, and I wanted to read and study with the new understanding that I was reading about real people with weaknesses and strengths, just like people have now. It also convinces me of God's love.
Jenkin's comment made me react with annoyance and alert as well. And it's a typical case of pandering to me. There are some Christian men and women who believe they're doing good by being all "koombaya" with not just people, which the Bible does command, but with their erroneous beliefs as well. "Oh muslims and Christians worship the same god, it's all good, all is love, I have such respect and admiration for Islam, SUCH RESPECT and admiration, I might even just as well have been muslim" etc. etc. This is the same thing. It is not a good thing to try and bridge differences by discarding the very pillars of Truth. We are set apart for a reason, because the Truth is singular, and cannot be adjoined with lies. But sadly there are Christians who prioritize a false sense of unity above the unchanging truth about who Jesus is.
I loved the chosen. I was hooked by the first episode when Jonathan's character said you are.mine. upon reading my Bible, I came across a verse that just stuck out to me and I couldn't shake it. It was make no image of anything in heaven above or anything below.. I felt that I shouldn't be watching the chosen and now IDont.
I watched the first season and before any influencer started giving their opinions the Holy Spirit discernment caused me to stop watching it. For me I must obey God rather than man and be aware of the Biblical warning to walk in personal Holy Spirit conviction doing otherwise is a sin. I've found that even in my circle of friends who watch the show that they're more passionate about defending the show than they are in contending for the faith, and also tend to label those like me who choose not to watch the Chosen as legalistic or judgmental. This in itself makes me question how this show has become an idol even if some have claim they've come to faith because of it. May God keep us from making an idol of anything or anyone regardless of how instrumental these may be in introducing or reinforcing Biblical truth after all it is ONLY the Holy Spirit who leads us into all truth for the glory and honor of God not of man. Also the love of Jesus compels us not to live for ourselves but for He who died for us. Truly the Chosen is just a TV show but believers as stated in 1 Peter 2:9 ...are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light." Blessings to you all in Jesus love and name!
You believe in the real Jesus brother and follow the true God and his holy spirit. Let the deception of the world consume the gullible, they were never meant to reach God either way, not the real one at least.
I used to love the old Jesus of Nazareth movie until one time I believe God showed me there was something not right I googled and found out the Roman Catholic roots I never watched it again
I've seen fragments shown on youtube and was disgusted: Jesus teaching children con men's game 'three shells'. Mother Mary telling He was born in poo. All actresses are pretty, charming but not Mother Mary. These series are blasphemous and disrespectful to Christians. Similar is 'Journey to Bethleheem: Archangel Gabriel depicted as a demon & nobody seems to notice. Here many comments sound phony as written by '50 cent army'. They show how little people know & love God.
Allen Parr I really respect and watch your channel but since you missed something when watching “The Chosen” in your section where you said none of the details added were unbiblical I wanted to let you know of a very unbiblical aspect of “The Chosen” in the Chosen during the childhood of Jesus he asked his parents for forgiveness, which means he had trespassed AKA sinned, and as Christians we are very adamant about Christ being sinless anyways have a good day Allen!
I am not trying to be argumentative because I haven't seen the Chosen. I just want to offer another thought. An apology doesn't necessarily mean a person has sinned. It could mean that they are sorry for having made that person feel a certain way, cost that person something, inconvenienced them, etc.
Forgive me for not recalling this, but I would like to offer a few points for consideration. Are sins the only reason we ask for forgiveness? At the beginning of the comment I asked you to forgive me for not recalling watching what you are referring to, which I don't think would be constituted as a sin. Additionally, is asking for forgiveness admittance of guilt or wrong doing? Some times you may ask for forgiveness even though you know (or think) you didn't do anything wrong. For example to preserve friendships, or your marriage. Lastly, if we are willing to claim that Jesus was 100% a man, is it far fetched that he would have a normal childhood development in which he may have done something (not out of malice, but just being a child) that he may have to apologize for? Thank you for your time. God bless.
My wife and just found this show and I agree with you 100%. Character development for all the apostles. Not the bible but highlights of the gospels. LOVE IT.
I love the show. Of course, it should never replace feeding on , reading the word of God. There are A LOT, so many shows drenched in debauchery. The Chosen is a breath of fresh air, imo. Many of the allegations have even been addressed by Dallas Jenkins, the director, himself.
Just a thing to consider. Your comment around 22:30 about Jenkins "not biting the hand that feeds him" in a way explains why the first concern (partnering with a Mormon production company) actually is valid. The parallel you made to needing money for a business is not apples to apples. Partnering with a company that worships a different Jesus on a project about "the authentic Jesus" (as Jenkins says) is not wise. That would be like trusting your business competitor to help you with your business.
Dallas actually contacted Allen to let him know he was wrong about that. And brw, they no longer partner with Angel Studios. It is The Come and See Foundation. And Angel Studios played zero part in content and what have you in the show, they started the Crowd funding, developed the app.
Latter-day Saints don't "worship a different Jesus" just because Allen says so. They worship the Jesus who descended from Heaven, was born of a virgin, taught the Gospel in his mortal ministry, suffered in the Garden of Gethsemane, was denied by many of the Judeans and condemned by their leadership, was scourged nearly to death by the Romans, was compelled to bear his cross to Golgotha, was crucified to death by the Romans, was buried, descended down to Hell for three days, was resurrected, and taught his disciples for 40 days afterward. That's not "another Jesus" unless you don't accept the Bible as telling the truth. Have a good day, though!
In John 8:58 Jesus tells the religious leaders, “Before Abraham was born, I am.” Jesus is identifying Himself as the eternal God quoting the words from Exodus 3:14 For this reason the Jews were seeking to stone Him for the crime of blasphemy. The words “I am” or “Yahweh” in the Hebrew language is the verb, to be. This name conveys the meaning of eternal self-existence. Yahweh, whom Jesus is identifying with, is eternal and beyond the realm of time. Abraham came to exist at a point in time, but Jesus never had a beginning. He is uncreated and eternal. Since the Bible teaches the eternal nature of Christ, He cannot be a procreated being as Mormon doctrine teache.
Thank you Brother! I see The Chosen exactly the way you do. Thank you!! I have watched Season 1-3, 5 times. I have been going to theater to see Season 4, just finished up episodes 7-8 last weekend. WONDERFUL! I think this could be the greatest witnessing tool ever. God Bless 🙌 🙏 ❤️
If you want to produce a show that entertains, then choose different subject matter. The life of Jesus is not meant to be entertainment. What concerns me is that so many Christians do not see The Chosen as entertainment. For example, my parents' church simply watches The Chosen as their Sunday school class, like it is some sort of Bible study.
Also, Mr. Parr, I am a Christian artist myself, and I was recently discussing with a colleague of mine that when it comes to presenting the actual Biblical events in entertainment form this is where the buck needs to STOP! Most people who consider themselves Christian barely read God's word, and most people who watch this show won't understand what is the creative license and what is Biblical doctrine. We need to treat God's word with reverence and NOT as entertainment. Both in the Old and New Testaments it is given explicit command to not alter or take "Creative License" with God's word. Revelation 22:18-19 "And I solemnly declare to everyone who hears the words of prophecy written in this book: If anyone adds anything to what is written here, God will add to that person the plagues described in this book. And if anyone removes any of the words from this book of prophecy, God will remove that person’s share in the tree of life and in the holy city that are described in this book." If we, as Christian artists, are going to use the entertainment industry to preach, in a palatable way, God's holy word then we need to create original compelling content to do so. Jesus laid a perfect road map of this when he gave us stories such as "The Prodigal Son" and "The Good Samaritan". He would say, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like . . . " This is how true Christian entertainment needs to be done. Anything less and we are in blasphemy territory. The God of the Bible and His word is NOT something to play with.
The verse in Rev is referring to adding/taking from Revelation, not the whole Bible. Should we alter or change any part of the Bible? No, but the "this book" in Rev was a reference to Revelations, the Bible didn't exist when it was written.
Spot on, the only correct biblical comment on this forum. I would add that the ruler of this world (Satan) has his deceiving way to water down, manipulate the true word of the bible. He has deceived many through movies, music, false teaching etc, So be careful
What unbiblical doctrines are being portrayed / taught by The Chosen? The verse you quote from Revelation may be taken out of context when trying to discredit someone's storytelling of the gospel. I respect the opinions of those who do not approve of The Chosen as I have questioned it myself (and still do), but I want to be fair in how I evaluate things. It is easy to point out how the Mormon's and JW's have added to and taken away from scripture which has lead to false teachings, but to criticize ones creative license on a character, I believe, does not interfere with scriptural truths. Many have been lead to Christ through this. Many who have labeled themselves Christians have now realized they have been lost and now follow Jesus having a desire to read His Word and draw close to Him. This series has opened the eyes of many. No one is drawn to the insignificant details that are argued over, but rather, to the core message of the gospel being delivered.
@@BooserBoi I am aware how the canonical Bible was put together, but the statement of "adding or taking away from God's word" doesn't need to be stated in every single book in the Bible. This principle is obvious principle and common sense. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 " All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Also, Matthew24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."
Youre analysis is so true and right on. Discernement is the key word. The Chosen is a tv show that makes you go back to the Bible and have great conversations. Thank you!
agree. for Christians discernment is everything, as we can easily be led astray without even knowing what's happening. anything that makes you go back to the bible and thirst for His Word is a blessing!
The reason I quit watching the chosen is because of what Dallas Jenkins said about the Mormons and how they worship the same JESUS. When I saw that I said I can’t trust him. Up to that point I saw some minor things that bothered me like John the Baptist arguing with JESUS, which I don’t think he would have done but I didn’t make a big deal about. But when he came out and said that I said I can’t trust this guy. Also no I don’t have to separate the producer from the production. When bethel is teaching blasphemous heresies why should I support that or allow anyone from their church lead me in worship? Why would I ever trust them? I can’t even listen to their music without thinking about what they teach and do let alone worship GOD while doing so. Now I don’t judge other Christian’s for consuming these things but yeah it bothers me. Our worship leader at my church wears a bethel shirt and I cringe every time he wears it. If I don’t know him and his love for CHRIST I would be concerned. When I hear that they teach grace soaking and the tunnel of fire, you tell me why I should listen to or pay for their music? Same goes for the chosen. I don’t trust them, he has never apologized or addressed it so I’m not supporting it. Many I know do and I don’t usually say anything unless they ask me why I don’t.
It’s a lot better than watching some of the junk that’s being shown on television, I guess. But for me, I tried watching but I couldn’t get passed some the artistic liberties the writers and producers took in filling in the gaps that aren’t mentioned in the Bible. And it seems that as the series has progressed so has the liberties they’ve taken in making the show. It should come with a disclaimer: Based on a true story. If I were a new believer or even an unbeliever, and didn’t have a good understanding of the Bible, then I could see how this show would appeal to me. But having a deep understanding of Scripture, those extra biblical portrayals stand out like a sore thumb. I’m sure there are mature Christians that are able to overlook those things, but I tried, and I just can’t. So, if I’m going to take an hour to watch a show that’s based on the life of Jesus, I can use that same hour to read the actual truth about Jesus based on the word of God. But to each his own.
I stopped watching after season one. Now there was a few little things in the show itself, but what really turned me away was when I ordered the Chosen Daily Devotional and on day three the put up a scripture and changed where the scripture said "man" to read "woman" seems small, but also puts a light on the progressive nature of the show
What about the part in the show where Joseph tells Jesus that he “transgressed” against his mother? I thought Jesus was sinless. Am I missing something?🤔 And then there’s the verse in the Bible that says not to add or take away from the teaching of the word. Does the “net positive” effect of the show warrant breaking a biblical command?
@MadMatzuki I don't mind the filling in the gaps as long as it does not pull away from the teaching of scripture. But it is definitely not done well. Allen seems to be selling it foe some reason. This show seems to make Mary more important than the 12 and treater her like she was one of them and that is worrying, plus they made it sound lime Jesus needed His moms permission to start His ministry.....
I've watched The Chosen i can't say how many times. It's beautifully done, has so many Biblical references, the characters are so real, and i love the story of Jesus Christ within the world of the 1st Century - it has helped me understand more what the different perspectives were - which we don't necessarily get from The Bible alone. Thank you Brother Allen.
I have watched the first 3 seasons and as a christian who was raised in the church and have heard so many of the stories in the Bible and to see them played out,my Bible has become more alive. As I watched each dvd,I looked to see if there were any differences from what I was taught, what I read and what I viewed on my tv and nothing stood out. I'll be watching them over and over, looking for any and all differences. One year ago I was divinely healed from incurable stage 4B esophagus cancer. To watch each scene of Jesus healing people was special for me as I put myself in the place of each one of the actors and actresses being healed and the conversations that took place. I had many people praying for me and I remember my prayers asking and believing for my healing. I believe every person who believes in Jesus who is sick can be healed. The series shows exactly what the Bible teaches. I'm surprised people haven't testified of healings after viewing The Chosen.
I've tried to watch on several occasions and couldn't. I've prayed about it , tried to watch again and couldn't. Pray and wait for answer. Discerment is mandatory . Read your Bible Matthew 7: 13 -14
There is no 'you must watch these episodes'. Did you ask your neighbor or colleague to watch some and tell you how she feels about? For questions you open your bible and show good hints to find peace and answers! If you prefer bumper stickers over The Chosen, stick more of them ...
Sometimes it is the devil fighting with you, because he knows if you do watch it, the devil will lose his hold on you. Pray and ask God to remove the veil from your eyes and heart. We watch normal Hollywood movies all the time, how bad can one about Jesus be? The same way we as humans say, we will try something once, try The Chosen.. The same way we go into a restaurant and not sure the food will taste good, but we go in Faith, try the CHosen. And Just find one thing to like, eg. cinematics etc and then slowly, you will see you made the right choice. I 100% sure that after the 3rd episode, you will change your mind. There are worst things to watch. 🙏

When I was new in faith, I have “The Fifth Mountain” book by Paulo Coelho. Its first chapters include names of prophets from the Bible and it creates confusion in my part as I was also studying the Bible at that time. I decided to stop reading Coelho’s book (which I learned few years later that his work is more of new age) so I can focus on sound Biblical doctrines and account. Same as “The Chosen”, I watched the trailer and saw some extra biblical dialogues which of course they would add to make stories out of the chapters. But for me, I would rather stay away from it to avoid myself from mixing what is really in the Bible and any extra biblical ideas/ events. I personally choose to stick to the Scriptures first. I am a work in progress and I want to be careful what I take in.
This is how I am. I don't trust it. I'm contemplating it not that Allen made good points. I still have my guard up though because I do only want scripture in my mind and heart. I also don't want an image of Jesus in my mind. I'm against any images of a fake Jesus because none of them are Jesus.
Thank you Allen. I have asked God for discernment concerning the film the chosen, and after hearing you, I can also say that it's good. I live in Belgium, and havn't had a chance to see it. But I hope I will soon. ❤
All the books in the world couldn't contain everything Jesus did if they were written down. There is no way Jesus could have kept fellowship with twelve ordinary men for 3 and a half years if he never demonstrated his human side.
I haven't seen this series, but it sounds like the scriptures are not being twisted, added to or deleted. They are not rewriting the Bible, just fleshing out the characters, coming up with possible dialogue and day to day activities. The Bible is packed with 5,000+ years of information and was necessarily written in a very sparse format. if every conversation were written down,it would fill hundreds, maybe thousands of volumes that no one could r and in a lifetime. As I said, I've never watched this series since I'm not a tv watcher, but I trust this pastors opinion. Hope I'm making sense but I do understand where you're coming from.
This series never claimed to add or take away anything to the scriptures. This is not a rewrite of the gospels. It’s a visual portrayal of the gospels. This was not meant to mislead. But to encourage people to read the gospels. Period.
Personally, I stopped watching the show. Not because of the criticism, but I was a new Christian. Because of that I found that I was having trouble differentiating if it was in the Bible or not. So, I had to stop watching and read the scriptures. Now that I've read all the gospels I feel like I could handle it. However, I used to be a Jehovah's Witness and started to watch it right when I was saved. It wasn't for me. It confused me. Now I don't think it would.
I have to say that I am greatly disappointed in this video and your take on things! I started out being thrilled with it and very touched at certain scenes for example when Jesus meets the woman at the well. However as things progressed I started seeing things that just don't fit. I think what tore it for me is where they show Jesus getting advice from Matthew on writing the Sermon on the mount! Really? He needs help from a sinful tax collector? If they had shown that he was just bouncing thoughts off him to get an idea how he would respond that is one thing, but it was presented like Jesus was stuck and Matthew had to help him write it! You expect me to believe that. It's a lot of little subtle things that don't just add or embellish the Biblical narrative but fly in the face of it! Yes I can see where it may inspire some and I was taken in at first but in the end it is like giving someone the Heretical NWT Bible and expecting them to come to true salvation from reading it! You've lost me, not sure I can trust your judgement after this!
I have to disagree with you on your interpretation of the scene with Matthew. He never asked Matthew for advice, nor did he take any of Matthews words and implement them into his sermon. He simply asked Matthew what he thought of the sermon and if he had any concerns about it. Matthew offered feedback, and Jesus answered his concerns. Btw, Jesus was not born into this world with all knowledge and power (see Luke 2:52). So, why is it surprising that he might ask someone else their opinion? As man, he had fears and concerns just like all of us. Recall the night in Gethsemane? The ultimate point of the series is to bring more people who aren't saved into His kingdom by retelling the life of Jesus in as truthful way as possible. I doubt that you could do it any better.
Amen it was the HolySpirit that gave you discernment because you are a child of God im not saying Allen isn't but im very surprised he supports this very thing and it's disappointing but we are human but he should know better being a child of God.
Wow, you missed the whole point of what Jesus was doing for Matthew. Of course Jesus didn’t need him to write the sermon. But Matthew needed to hear Jesus asking his advice, he was building Matthews belief in himself. Matthew from that point on was very assertive with his own writing. Matthew realized Jesus didn’t need his help but that Jesus was helping him. He also realized it was Jesus that Matthew needed to lean on when he needed help. Which is what the Bible teaches. 🙏🏻✝️❤️
Agree with all of this! I LOVE this show! It has helped me to visualize life in the days of Jesus and learn so much, and understand so much more! I love The Chosen. This show has brought these stories to life! And, it does make you want to go back to scriptures and find out more.
If you are true believer Stop watching the Chosen One. What draws you to Jesus is Have relationship with Jesus talk to him everday, pray and Read your bible that what true Believer means. Watching it is a distraction
I love seeing a growing interest in our Lord Jesus Christ. I don't watch The Chosen, but do enjoy Biblical commentary of different types. One of the things I have to remember (we all have to remember) is that nothing replaces the divinely inspired, authoritative, and complete word of God that we find in Scripture.
I enjoyed watching "The Chosen" production. I would read my bible to see if it relating to the word of God. I am looking forward to more episode seasons of "The Chosen". I love seeing and hearing bible scriptures and pictures on TV. We need more positive movies and shows concerning the Goodness of God and Jesus Christ in this sinful world. I agree with you Allen Parr with your honest thoughts. Amen!!
Allen my man this breaks my heart. I don't know how anyone who calls themselves a Christian would watch or recommend this show based on season one episode five alone! You know, where they wrote into the script that Jesus broke the fifth commandment.
For me this show helped bring the bible and stories I grew up with to life in a new way. Sometimes it's hard to imagine Jesus actually walking as a man on earth or even seeing his disciples as more than saints or far off leaders of the church. Alot of time has passed between their lives and our own and I think this show helps show their humanity. And there are so many powerful scenes. I've watched the series twice thru at this point and gonna start again to refresh before season 4 but every episode has moments that make me cry. Happy and sad tears alike. Its a truly powerful show that I believe will help lead many to Christ.
But they are inaccurate.. They do not depict accurately the bible stories.. we do not get the liberty to add or take away from the bible stories and MOST of the public watching this show will not understand that there has been SO MUCH creative liberty taken.... We should not need a tv show to get close to God.. GOD gave us HIS VERY WORD..
@@samanthahammondsrealtor that's the point. They put a disclosure in the very beginning due to time constraints and other variables it is not precise to scripture and they recommend you read the scriptures for yourself. For non believers or people struggling to find their faith, if this show helps them find interest in actually reading God's word I see nothing wrong with that. And I've read the new testament (working thru the old now) they follow pretty closely. They've added nothing to God's word and just show what day to day life could have been like for Jesus and the disciples and their families. That's not adding or taking away from scripture, it's giving an idea of all the things the Bible doesn't tell us. Again the disciples were real men with real families and real lives. Following Christ may be the biggest aspect of their lives but it certainly wasn't the only part. The fact is they sacrificed much to follow Him. This gives a slight idea of what. So maybe some have no problem just picking up a Bible and reading, for others maybe they needed help to lead them in the right direction. You don't get to judge how people come to their faith. What's important is they find Christ and the way thru Him. And again the creators are not saying this is 100% accurate and no need for the bible but they say the exact opposite before the show even starts. They want people to actually read Scripture for themselves. And the way this show has plays out, I have no doubt many have been led to Jesus and perhaps even converted to Christianity thru it. That doesn't mean they rely on the show for their faith or their faith is somehow less than yours. It's simply another tool to help lead the lost the Christ.
Allen, you don't think that some things portrayed in "Jesus" in the show aren't worth warning people about? Things like when Jesus is practicing his lines for his sermon (wouldn't God have given him everything he needed to say?) that might take away from his divinity?
The thing that makes it especially problematic is the messianic prophecy that says the Messiah get His theology straight from God. The idea of Christ having to practice a sermon or struggle with His words ought to highly offend any true Christian. I find it extremely nauseating to be told that i have to support it simply because it's supposedly Christian, even though the content is transparently blasphemous.
Brother Alan, I have given a hearty “Amen” to so many of your presentations, but I must make an exception this time. We are ALL imperfect humans and tend to justify those things we like or enjoy, while objecting to what we find offensive or not included in our worldview. We don’t have to be twins to be brothers. Blessings
Love the video - one point of disagreement: I’m not sure we should take it so lightly that a drama about the Bible would use creative freedom. Of course a show like this would require creative freedom, but because of that, should it be made at all? It’s possible that we should refrain entirely from making dramas about the Bible that require that creative freedom. I’m not saying this is for sure the case - just that it’s the actual issue at play here. Instead of merely asking if something could have happened or if it was in total contradiction to the Bible, perhaps we should also ask whether we should be extrapolating out biblical texts and embellishing them at all.
I tried watching the chosen last year, and I could not get past the first episode, but because of your video, and thank you Alan, for that, I decided to try again, and then I got hooked, absolutely love the series! It was so good and since I was studying my Bible, anyway, it made it all that much more intriguing
There was a part in Season 2, I think episode two. Jesus had been laboring all day, mean while the disciples were sitting around a camp fire arguing over who was worse, who had better ideas , etc. To the point of physical fight. Then Jesus shows up dead tired after doing all his work. They all felt that self shame . I feel like that is us as the church today. All sitting around like Pharisees arguing legalism while Christ work has been done.
Yes I have seen the show, and as much as they are allowed to have artistic license, it can be a stumbling block for a new believer. Some people will not read the Bible because watching it on tv is more “interesting” or “fun”. Some people may look to the man playing Jesus and start to idolize him, some people may actually believe the story line for some of the episodes are actually true. For example with the sermon on the Mount, no where is scripture does it say that He practiced or rehearsed, but yet that is shown in the show. Why add that to the show?? I understand it’s media, but we also need to be careful for anything that has a Jesus sticker put on it. Yes there are many shows out there that are evil, but we mustn’t make the show a replacement for actual time in His word. I watched a video in which some women would think of Jonathan Roumie (man who plays Jesus) anytime they pray!! This is not good, for some it may be a stumbling block.
It's always hard finding a balance. Must be good enough for entertainment while be true to the bible. But overall I think they did a great job in season 1 (that's all we have seen in NZ) ❤ Hopefully it will encourage people to find out who Jesus is and what his message was.
My thoughts exactly. My brother in law just recently got saved and is watching the show and he loves it. The problem is he is being fed mental pictures and character portrayals that are not from the Bible but from the artistic license of man. I think the potential problems out weigh the potential benefits. He now reads his Bible with the mental pictures of the chosen. The sermon on the mount episode made me mad. My Lord Jesus didn’t need help putting the sermon on the mount together. The canvassing of the villages by the disciples with flyers, the giddy girls around Jesus “backstage”, his slow mo nods to the disciples as He is getting ready to go “on stage”, it was portrayed as a rock concert.
And as a Christian example, Roumie, personally has some really bad theology. He talks about things like his practice of “soul soaking” and other really unbiblical practices and beliefs.
The problem with this take; all this would happen anyway. There has been paintings depicting Jesus for centuries, this is not first TV show or movie depicting Jssus either. There are countless plays and theatrics that have been and will be performed. Even the Israelites after witnessing the hand of God himself rescue and lead them built for themselves images. Discipleship is what matters here. Christians needed to do less complaining about such things as this and do more discipleship. Have you befriended new believers? Have suggested and helped them study and emulating Christ? Everybody wants to be a commentator but few get in the field. This show is a great tool in the right hands.
It sounds like to me that excuses are being made as to why we should go along to how this show is produced and who is producing it. One must ask the question as to why a Mormon company would help a Christian director with a total disagreement with who Jesus is. If the director is promoting the fact that he isn't against gay prided doesn't that say something about how is is afraid to stand up for what the bible teaches. Sounds like he is kind of selling out to keep the production going. The bible did not take poetic incense so I don't think the show should either. If you want to learn about the true Jesus, how about people reading the bible first. It's not about us its about the scriptures and what it means to us.
Absolutely agree. He is giving Dallas Jenkins alot of grace here. When this first came up with the pride flag Dallas' responses about this were pretty atrocious compared to the clip shown on here. I was dissapointed with them allowing the flag to be shown which seemed to be on purpose during pride month. Impeccable timing right. Even if it was an independent camera man it is still a sad excuse to let the whole world see it. They definitley got peoples attention though. Isn't that the way they showed us how to infiltrate even a show about Christ. One of his producers was asked if it was shown on purpose and he just laughed and said well of course not. I really did like watching and supporting the show.
I am suprised you endorsed this movie fully. My issue comes down to creative input about a real story. The bible is a real story that describes actual events in history. To say a director can add and subtract from scripture under the guise of artistic interpretation is extremely dangerous. Where the Bible is silent or omits a part of the historic story. I don't think we should assume and interject what the director feels Jesus said or done . There are warnings in scripture about adding to this book. We shouldn't tolerate it under the umbrella of theatrical or creative freedom. God's word in enough and sufficient. We don't need people trying to make the greatest story ever told more fun to watch Stay biblical and perserve the truth.
Let creators of the show tell me that teaching children by Jesus con men game 'three shells' was a popular pass time and right thing to do. NO way. There are more blasphemous moments in this movie. The Bible, Jesus' teachings are twisted in Chosen. Otherwise it wouldn't be allowed on Netflix.
One thing i can say is the producer and production really can't be separated due to the fact images, movies, and messages are powerful. Its easier said than done to ignore propaganda, propaganda is a powerful tool no matter how small one may think it is. So whatever the message is in a movie, producer/production are on the same team, its who approves the final cut.
@@jennywidner4889 For starters the appearance of all the characters. People really believe those ancient people looked like that. Secondly people often conflate the word jew for a group of people when in reality it's not. The people in the first century didn't look like those of today, and lastly where are the other tribes of Israel? You do know it's 12 tribes right? If Jewish people are descendant of "Judah," well Judah is just one tribe, people often forget that, I could go on and on, but UA-cam will just delete my comment.
@@thechi2848 uh, seriously? Sorry, but thats a really dumb accusation. Just what did “ancient people” look like? Please provide verifiable proof of your assertion. I’m pretty sure they had hair, eyes, two arms & legs, etc. and dressed very similarly to what the show portrays. And lemmeseeee here, believe in the show Matthew is from the tribe of Benjamin, so there’s one more. Ohhhhh, and the priests are from the tribe of Levi. There’s another. Nowhere in the show is a roll-call of the tribes given, your assertion is utterly ridiculous.
@@kdhander I mean you stating the obvious they Had eyes and hair, that's a very elementary rebuttal. Secondly my point of mentioning the tribes is many say Israel will return to that land, well the Europeans who's their now aren't from Israel, and if that's fulfilling prophecy then we're are the other tribes today? Lastly you can read scripture yourself and get an idea of how the people look. Didn't they say Blacks are descendant from Ham? Isn't Ham from Noah? Ephraim who they say descendant from Ephraim? So your response isn't as deep as you think, all it takes is common sense and research. And the people of that region did not look like they are portrayed in that series, just like they don't look like an hells angels member which I'm sure you have on your wall, or those images in your Sunday school book, imaging is powerful. I would also go on about your common sense or lack thereof, but UA-cam would only erase my critique of your not so good assessment.
Me and my wife watch this show together and it is amazing. We have cried, had great dialogue and be encouraged to go and dig deeper into our Bibles. I recommend this for every believer the production is beautiful.❤
I'm about 10 seconds into your video here, so I don't know what you're going to say, but I just have to say that I am beyond thankful for The Chosen! It has renewed my love for the GOSPEL! It makes me want to read THE WORD! Just watching the series and really seeing a depiction of the reality that these were real men and women, not just characters in a book, has been such a thrill for my walk. I don't treat this series as the Gospel, but it leads me to it time and time again... Bottom line- I know that The Chosen is not a documentary. Did everyone else forget that?! Bless you brother, and merry Christmas!
You may know it’s not a documentary, but lot of people think that this is 100% scripture. And that all the scenes are being portrayed accurately. And certain mindset about certain people are being formed that are not scriptural. For instance, Matthew being autistic and James being a cripple.
all things new, find me one person who thinks this is 100% scripture? Tell that person to read the intro (if they can't read then they are to young to watch the chosen)
The people that wrote it know that it's not scriptural It's like trying to give a descriptive account of Jesus when we really don't know how tall he was but the Bible does say there was nothing that would attract us so we don't know if he was autistic you don't know if James was crippled but it also just ministers towards their God to use anybody regardless of their purple or they're not or autistic I think that's the message and it is showing the grace of God and I think God is glorified at the end of the day and it doesn't really matter. Many of us have a lot of pepsiology but no hearts theology that's pretty sad and to top that off people with bad theology still go to heaven.
Do you ever do business with people who are not Christians? Have you ever had someone come to your home and provide a service who was NOT a Christian? If so, you too have been "in business" with people who are not Christians. The Bible doesn't teach that we not be IN the world but not OF the world, correct?
@@thebeatagpif my business involves the Lord or is my literal ministry, yeah I think I wouldn’t associate with someone who is not a Christian. I think that’s pretty obvious. A business that is not solely based on the Bible is free to do business with whomever they choose. But Christians, we aren’t to surround ourselves and our ministry with those who have false beliefs. The Chosen is Dallas’ ministry and he allows a lot of outside input and ideas to flood in.
Thanks for your fair review of this series. I feel it has been created with care to bring people a better understanding of how Jesus teachings can be applied to life. Much of it is taken directly from Scriptures but the creative parts are used to show examples of how His teachings can affect our lives and to explore the difficulties people had and still have understanding God's ways. All of it is respectful of the purpose that Jesus came for . Yes, it is imaginative , but useful the way parables are to make a point. It is a Biblical historical novel, not a literal documentary. It is not meant to replace Bible study.
Just cause it looks good, it's produced well, and the characters are great, doesnt mean its good for your spirit I believe in order for the show to be successful, they have to get into the lives of the disciples and other characters, and this is what I dont agree with. You can't make a soap opera out of God and Jesus. Tell the story of love, grace, and hell. After all, doesn't everyone believe in Jesus? Unless you're an athiest, Jesus was a regular man or the Son of God. Reveal to the world His love, His mercy, His grace, and an eternal hell that is waiting for us if we don't believe in the true God. The pretty picture doesnt keep people out of hell! The gospel does.
One example of how it's "not biblical" is the scene in this video @11:35 Jesus asks for Mathews opinion on His teachings and changes what He says because of Mathews input. Isaiah 40:13 states "Who can fathom the Spirit of the LORD, or instruct the LORD as his counselor?" meaning there is no one who can teach or counsel God, for He already knows all things perfectly in His infinite knowledge and wisdom. So I would say that's largely against what is actually IN the bible. Adding things is one thing, rewriting what is written is a very dangerous act.
Agree that one was a little weird especially if a non-believer took it to mean Jesus needed help from any man to teach. But,Jesus clearly chose to bring his message to the world thru these men. Is it crazy to suggest Jesus may have been teaching Matthew by asking his thoughts? It has been a long time since I saw that episode. So, of course, make up your own mind. I just think you can insert sinister motives where they may not exist.
I watched The Chosen, when my husband was an unbeliever... he absolutely loved it and little by little the Lord began drawing him in. He believes in Jesus now, he called himself a Christian last month and he said, "I realized that the moment God was brought into a conversation, or I spoke about Jesus, people would get angry, offensive and hostile.. it was the strangest thing." and that paired with other things helped open his eyes and embrace the true Biblical Jesus -- found in The Holy Bible and not in Mormonism I should say. So personally, it helped our household a lot.
There's a lotta deception in christianity... We're fast moving into Matthew 24:24 territory... The Chosen presents "another Jesus" - NOT the Jesus of the Bible.
So where is the line for "who cares where the funding comes from"? At what point does trying not to "bite the hand that feeds you" slip into the content itself? And at that point how many believers will be strong secure and sound enough in their faith to turn it off? Saying Christians need to basically get over it when it comes to music and TV/movie productions seems like terrible advice. Disappointing at the least. Just as your previous videos on worship music have suggested, there is no place for heracy, inaccurate theology in the church or the on lips of its people. Love your videos, but this is disappointing.
My faith was renewed in this show. I had strayed and kept my distance for some time. Not that I didnt believe anymore, but lost that spark. This show brought it back and then some! The characters were relatable and made you feel such emotion. I will be watching season 4 as soon as it comes out and will be rewatching the other seasons with my kids and husband til then. Anything to bring the story of Jesus to life! Just wow!
The Chosen helped strengthen my relationship with Christ. I do not use the show as an alternative to the Gospel, but I absolutely love watching it. It goes no further than that for me. I highly respect you and your ministry Brother Allen, so thank you for taking the time to do a video on one of my (and others) favorite show!
The first time I tried to watch this, it didn’t sit right in my spirit and this was long before I heard any ‘influencers’ talk about it. When I did hear them talk about it, it made sense as to why it didn’t feel right to me. My concern is for those people who maybe aren’t as spiritually mature as you and other strong believers and might be lead astray by the license taken with scripture in this production. Sure, Mr Parr, you are strong and mature enough to know to reference the scriptures, but what about those who are not grounded enough to know to do that? The Bible says that a little yeast spoils the whole loaf. It’s true that you say that we should use discernment in these matters and there are better options, I believe, where we can find some of the same elements that you mentioned, such as a production of The Book of Matthew for instance., Which is a film series that shows the same narrative that you speak of but follows the scripture line by line, precept by precept and I found it very helpful when I was still learning the Bible and I believe because of that, when I see or hear something that doesn’t line up with scripture, it triggers me and for that reason, I found it very difficult to watch this show. I personally would not recommend it to anyone who is not well grounded in The Word to watch this show as there are better options, i.e. the film series I mentioned earlier (Also the series ‘The book of Acts’)which follows the scriptures verbatim via the New International Version of the Bible. Be blessed and I do enjoy your commentary otherwise
Talking about the BIBLE... all human beings are free - to respect and obey the Bible as the Word of God and source of Truths OR reject and degrade the Bible as just worthless book of lies, myths, fictions, fantasies, and fairy tales ATHEISTS versus the CREATOR The Creator KNOWS that all Atheists are opposed and against his Sovereignty, openly insulting and degrading him as worthless, cruel, merciless, and undeserving to be honored and respected as the True and Sovereign God in opposition and defiance of what were written in Matthew 22: 37 and John 17: 3 CHRISTIANS versus JESUS CHRIST Jesus Christ KNOWS that Jehovah's Witnesses, SDAs, Mormons, Baptists, Catholics, Methodists, Pentecostals, Born Again Christians, and even Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions are opposed and against his authority written in Matthew 28: 18 and not believers too of his teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" written in Luke 4: 43, and John 11: 25, 26 but believers of the Unbiblical teachings of his enemies about "Armageddon", "heaven and hellfire", "Trinity", "rapture", and "reincarnation" The FREEDOM of ATHEISTS, CHRISTIANS, and RELIGIONS Atheists, Christians, Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, and fanatics of all kinds of Religions in the world KNOW and are fully aware that they are free to do and say whatever they want.... free to live and exist on earth wherever, whatever, and however they want to live and exist.... no responsibilities, no duties, no obligations, no accountabilities, just free in having all the fun in the world without bothering at all even if their willful opposition, disobedience, and defiance of the Creator's Sovereignty and Jesus Christ's authority and teachings bring them dishonor, disgrace, shame, and cause their own downfall and ETERNAL DEATHS, just worthless and useless dusts on earth forever The CREATOR'S FAVOR and REWARD for FOLLOWERS of JESUS CHRIST Jesus Christ KNOWS that all persons on earth who willingly submit to his authority and put their faith and hope in his teachings about the "Kingdom of God" and "Resurrection of the Dead" as written in Matthew 28: 18, Luke 4: 43, and John 11: 25, 26 are his loving, kind, and respectful FOLLOWERS and believers on earth who can be trusted with anything and are worthy and deserving of the loving, kind, and merciful Creator's favor and reward of ETERNAL LIFE and existence without sufferings, pains, griefs, sickness, and death on a safe and peaceful earth without liars, deceivers, perverts, traitors, and murderers as written in Revelation 21: 3, 4, 8 HAPPY, ABUNDANT, PEACEFUL, and ETERNAL LIFE and EXISTENCE on EARTH for all WORSHIPPERS of the CREATOR The Creator KNOWS that all human beings will just become worthless and useless dusts on earth after their deaths just like the animals as written in Ecclesiastes 3: 19, 20 ; 9: 5, 6 but he knows too that he will not let his loving, kind, and respectful WORSHIPPERS who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Jesus Christ's disciples and followers, and many others to remain as worthless and useless dusts forever, instead, in the right and proper time and as written in John 11: 25, 26, he will let Jesus Christ RESURRECT them back to life so they can all happily, peacefully, and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects of the "KINGDOM of GOD" or HIs Kingdom and fully enjoy his and his Christ's eternal love, kindness, goodness, compassions, generosities, favors, and blessings for eternity under the loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection of Jesus Christ as his Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.
And this is why confusion and division is in the body of Christ. The Word says not to add or take away from his Word. So when a Spiritual person recognizes the things that are contrary to Gods Words they stand for which is right on the other hand those that dont know the Word and have not knowledge of the Word tends to fall for anything. Thats another reason why God says dont make no Graven images in heaven or on earth. Like these black and whites pictures that suppose to represent what Christ looks like causes confusion. We all should be on one accord if we are followers of God. Now we should ask ourselves where is the division coming from in this TV show or why? But Truth will always guide you.
My late wife (passed October last year), are solid in our love for the Lord and have been since 1981. She passed away from cancer, age 59. We read the bible every morning, she would pour hours into study and prayer and as the last several months before the end she was drawn by the Lord even more. Before she became too ill she asked me, "do you mind if I spend the day reading the bible alone?" - I did not and afforded her that - tending to other things, meals and stuff. Near the end she would have me put on the Chosen. She would listen to it time and time again. It was not replacement for anything - her salvation secure she just like hearing it. I have yet to turn it on again and have not seen season three yet...I just can't, not yet but I will and it will be nice to see the story as it is presented. Thank you Allen for your insightful thoughts.
Brother John, I’m so sorry for your loss. How awesome is God to have blessed you with so many years with an amazing woman. She modeled the very essence of relationship with Jesus, and you had the privilege to see that first hand. Know that you have clarity where she is, and who she is with, waiting for you to get there at your appointed time. Thank you for sharing this personal matter with us. It truly has bolstered my faith, and validates what God is doing in the hearts of His people, through The Chosen. Your beautiful wife, to include everyone who’s faith rest on the finished work of Christ is one of “The Chosen.”
I’m not sure how far back you go when you are ready and you feel ready watch the chosen again we are a lot of us are watching the show so you’re not alone you be watching it with a lot of others. I’m gonna watch season four here soon as it comes on, it should be right around the corner here it’s 2024 New years day I’m interested in the next season here again you might she might be looking down and being with you maybe she will if you pray with her maybe she’ll show you that this is something that she would love you to do she gets to being with Jesus we’re still learning when we go home we’re going to go home to family we’re gonna go home to Jesus just think about I know we’re not in the same room but warm thoughts they were all together in spirit watching the chosen. God bless have a beautiful new year I’m gonna pray for you too, in Jesus name amen
I disagree with you on many points here, Bro Allen. I think it is also worth considering that this show is self proclaimed as being crowd funded, and according to you it’s also funded by Angel Studios. The Merch that they sell is pretty impressive. All of the artistic liberties stretch the story so long that it’s going to be 7 seasons long. All of that sounds like big business to me.
Don't be a hypocrite @nancyburge1014. your logic is invalid. It maybe that the crowd funding goes to Angel studios to continue the show besides not all business is a sin. People needs money.
Thank you Brother Parr! Well done and thought out and so appreciate what you do. As an early supporter of The Chosen you confirmed what I have felt all along. Merry Christmas and thanks for all you do!
I have been watching The Chosen and totally agree with you. I love the way he has developed the characters and showed how human they were. But I know that it’s just a show. It can’t and shouldn’t take the place of reading and studying the Bible.
I was hoping you would address this subject, this is my foremost criticism and reason I don't want to keep watching. What about idolatry? We are making an image of Jesus himself, putting a face to him and attributing actions to him. The second commandment is really serious about this, and God even calls himself jealous in relation to that. What happens when the image of that actor is what some represent Jesus with in our heads? I think it's dangerous. I'd love to hear your thoughts on that though.
I was surprised as to how many Christians find no issue with this series even though they admit it strays from The Bible in several ways. Even though we are warned to beware of those false Christs … no discernment
There was an episode where young boy Jesus had to apologize to his parent. Why would a perfect God in the flesh need to say sorry for anything at anytime in his life? 🤔 Not my Jesus !
Bible reader, believing, born again saved by grace Christian here and have been brought to tears several times while watching The Chosen. This show and more like it is needed in our society today. So many people are lost and they don't even know it. Sad...
Allen, I’m listening now to you giving your thoughts on the Elevation Worship song. How does that differ from a whole series on the Chosen that you are giving thumbs up to? This is in addition to my comments on yesterday to your chosen thoughts
Watching The Chosen has given me a greater love, understanding & respect for the men & women I've read about for many years. I love the character Matthew! Reading the book of Matthew (and the remainder of the New Testament books) after watching the Chosen was so intense! They were written by real people with hopes, fears, challenges - people willing to give up the comfort & security they knew for an unknown, uncomfortable and often very dangerous future to follow & serve Jesus. I pray that you & I are willing to do the same.
Great point. I'm a sacrifice type of Christian and believe the American church is too comfortable. I'm glad she show shows the sacrifice the apostles went through to spread the gospel. Maybe I'll give it a chance. I'm on the fence right now.
I’m so happy you posted this. I finished the entire bible for the first time last month in my 42 years. I personally don’t want to watch the chosen one based on me being new to my Christian faith. I committed myself to God June this year. I don’t want to watch this show based how them adding things not in the Bible also their consulting team and I think production company are Mormons which is very different from my non denominational Christian . I don’t want to remember Jesus doing somethings that are not biblically correct.
I would really challenge you to reconsider your position. As I mentioned in the video, watch it for yourself before you form a conclusion. How do you know what was "added" and "not added" if you've never watched an episode? As I mentioned, I encourage you not to listen to what others are saying and judge the show for yourself. Just my two cents. Thanks,
I recently decided that for me personally, I am not going to watch The Chosen anymore since it was misinforming me about various things in the Bible. However to each is his own. I’m just working on my own salvation with fear and trembling.
I'm a 75 year old Southern Baptist, having been born again at the age of 9, and I have watched every episode of every available season twice. It is so beautifully made and the depictions of all of the characters that are familiar to me from the Bible, being portrayed and imagined as to how they may have been was a wonderful way to breathe new life into the Bible and awaken your own imagination as to how the characters might have been in their daily lives. I highly recommend it and agree with everything that you said.
The fact that it's put out by a Mirmon company is NOT my #1 issue. That Studio/BYU has funded other things I enjoy- Clean comedy for example ( Studio C)
Season one was amazing. Season two was alright. Season three was hard to get through. I was a diehard Chosen fan when it first came out, but I've been more and more put off by things that have been creeping in both on and off screen over the past two years. I'm not some crazed discernment minister who's going to call Dallas a heretic, but I am... unsettled.
Praying for you brother. May God will use your life soon for His Glory!
Who are those that they judge?
With 99.9999 of the junk coming out of Hollywood you would think that we would be thankful that there’s something finally on TV the whole family can watch together
This!!! 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾❤
It's deceptive
This
I've always been a believer of Jesus, but not a follower.
This is exactly true for me as well.
Same thing happened to me.
Same. The show led me to give my life to Christ and now I’m both a follower and believer of Jesus. I thank the show for leading me to the scriptures.
Praise God for your new life journey w/Jesus
Praise God! 🙏🏽💜
@@monamarie1984 Amen you never know where and when but his timing is perfect
What church
@@lilylangman5620 I attend Methodist Church
Yeah lukewarm sinful worldly Christians are keen to change Jesus to be more like them. Yuk!
Hugs.
Hallelujah
Bs your sharing Mormon story .
Ignore the last comment of ignorant scottstar. Nothing in that comment was mormon. The chosen can spark the interest for people to read the bible go to church and fall in love with Jesus and that is a blessing.
The Bible is the best source of truth and knowledge about God. You could never go wrong with that.
Of course. Nothing is a substitute. But this is not an either/or thing.
I don't even know if this was an argument or just a statement like the sky is blue 😅
Now read your Bible and find out who He REALLY is.
Where do we get the truth from? From a man's imagination or from God's holy word? Who do we allow to shape our image of God?
Read the bible!
Amen, Amen, Amen!
Amen
If you are reading comments, this show is pushing people to read their Bibles MORE not less.
AMEN!
And where do you think Dallas got the script for the show? THE BIBLE. WHOA! AND, historical context learned through research! WHOA! Why do you think God gave man an imagination?! And thinking ability? And reasoning ability? Please exercise those skills.
The chosen helped me to want to actually read my Bible. So I don't really care what other people say about it. I think it's amazing and so well done ❤
Agreed! Glad to hear this!
Amen🙏🏾🙏🏾
relatable, I'm in agreement with your mom.
Which one, the Catholic or Mormon version? 😂

Now I want to watch all three seasons again. I don’t think there was an episode where I did not shed at least one tear. Very deeply spiritual and high quality production. I’m glad to have seen it and my expectations are at an all time high.
The Chosen brought more thirst for the Word of God to me.
Holy Spirit did that for me as Jesus said He does that for those who worship in spirit and truth
I cried like a baby
Where did you watch all the seasons out so far? I have Netflix but leaving it because they only have 1st season smh
It's not biblical. The writer of the show has admitted this very important fact.
It's not biblical. The writer of the show has admitted this very important fact.
Let me make a comment here to you, and explain something to you that you might not already know:
Jesus has TWO NATURES!
Isaiah 9:6 says, "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."
This verse is speaking about Jesus!
Same!!
@@sirhood1848i honestly think you pay attention to the wrong things. God bless.

I'm not Catholic by any means.
I'm 68, too, and am a convert. I concur.
Make sure you read and study the Bible, John MacArthur has good studies.
What does your husband believe from the Chosen that has motivated him to get baptized?
That's wonderful!
Do you know which content is Biblical and which is made up? Only around 5% comes direct from the Bible, btw.
except he's lying about "Mormons) who are not Mormons. we are The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.
There are at least three scenes in The Chosen where the content can be called not just extrabiblical, but unbiblical.
(spoilers if anyone hasn't watched all three seasons)
These are neither Biblical nor "plausible."
The show can make all the disclaimers it wants, but it claims to present the "authentic" Jesus.
Amen
Agree!!!!
Well said👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿
It's great to see someone speaking and defending the truth about this show rather than compromising with it.
But with which Jesus?
@@roniverson9282 okay, I'll bite. What do you mean "which Jesus"? I only know one, the Jesus of the Bible.
@@roniverson9282 The first thing the producer says about the show, is that it is not a replacement of the Bible, and encourages everybody to read it.
Amen! Exactly!!!
The problem is, if people don’t know what the Truth of God’s Word is then how will they know if it is the Holy Spirit or not? Let’s keep the Word of God pure and our minds sharp so we know the difference.
This one right here! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Yep. Agreed.
Beautifully stated!
The chosen is a wonderful production and is drawing in people who would not otherwise even concern themselves with the life of Jesus and would never even consider themselves reading the bible!
I so agree!
There is also a great deal of meat (flesh). The more I watch it, the more details I see and understand. And when I don’t understand, I research.
God bless.
Same here 🙏
I did that with Jesus of Nazareth...it has more of Jesus' teachings!
how biblically accurate would you say it is
Me too yes yes god is good
Saying you shouldn't watch The Chosen because it takes creative liberties is like saying you can't appreciate Da Vinci's The Last Supper because it's not an actual photograph of Jesus.
U can't accidentally doom urself becuase u misunderstood something
how people before Jesus saved? It's Becuase they wanted to seek God and Gave their life to him
The same way for people like the commenter who misunderstands the concept but wants to follow him
If Christian that have been in THE SCRIPTURES long before the came out are saying they will not watch it.Alot of things in this world a writer can take liberties with...Not God's word.
I said and felt the same way.
"i call you by name you are mine"
When mary cries i cried too. I felt that verse through my heart
Matthew 13 - The Parable of the Sower
13 That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat by the lake. 9 Whoever has ears, let them hear.”
18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart.
Exactly most of the negativity towards it are from people who think people watch it instead of reading their Bible which isn’t true at all.
Agreed !@@ESTalesTyrone
@@ESTalesTyrone ...or people who listened to criticism but have not viewed any episodes.
The nighttime meeting between Jesus and Nicedemus was one of the most powerful dialogs I've ever watched. It blow my socks off.
Brings me to tears every time ❤️
Someone told me that the scene involves Nicodemus kneeling to worship Jesus and Jesus refuses the worship.
Lies
@@ScottStar2023how do u know it's lies?
@@ScottStar2023it made some parts of what I don't undertsnad understand and I read my Bible and don't tell me I dont
Truly the Chosen is just a TV show but believers as stated in 1 Peter 2:9
...are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people of his own, so that you may proclaim the virtues of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
Blessings to you all in Jesus love
and name!
You believe in the real Jesus brother and follow the true God and his holy spirit. Let the deception of the world consume the gullible, they were never meant to reach God either way, not the real one at least.
I used to love the old Jesus of Nazareth movie until one time I believe God showed me there was something not right
I googled and found out the Roman Catholic roots
I never watched it again
I've seen fragments shown on youtube and was disgusted: Jesus teaching children con men's game 'three shells'. Mother Mary telling He was born in poo. All actresses are pretty, charming but not Mother Mary. These series are blasphemous and disrespectful to Christians. Similar is 'Journey to Bethleheem: Archangel Gabriel depicted as a demon & nobody seems to notice. Here many comments sound phony as written by '50 cent army'. They show how little people know & love God.
I can’t agree more with these comments which are the most genuine and real. God bless all of us 🤍🙏🏾
Absolutely agree.
Which episode did you see that? I don't recall that
🤦♀
God bless.
@@paulaj4433 An apology literally implies that someone did something wrong. A person doesn't apologize for any other reason.
Nah. I watched a few seasons. I feel heavily convicted when I watch it.
Agreed there was a lot of little things put into the show that bothered me.
Convicted not to watch or convicted otherwise?
I personally knew or sensed ten minutes in that it was wrong. It is a no brainer.
Me too! 🙏🏽✝️
Not aure how you mean your comment. Are you convicted because ita so good or it is bad?
Just a thing to consider. Your comment around 22:30 about Jenkins "not biting the hand that feeds him" in a way explains why the first concern (partnering with a Mormon production company) actually is valid. The parallel you made to needing money for a business is not apples to apples. Partnering with a company that worships a different Jesus on a project about "the authentic Jesus" (as Jenkins says) is not wise. That would be like trusting your business competitor to help you with your business.
YES ty!
🤷♀️
Amen , it's good to see a legitimate comment on here!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 " All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." Also, Matthew24:35 "Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away."

every movie has done that and passion of the christ was #1 for a reason.
I watch it with my grandkids and we can’t get enough. The bonding and conversations we are experiencing are beyond. So thankful!
💯 💯 💯
Yeah, well put!
They do have a disclaimer
thank you
I stopped watching after season one. Now there was a few little things in the show itself, but what really turned me away was when I ordered the Chosen Daily Devotional and on day three the put up a scripture and changed where the scripture said "man" to read "woman" seems small, but also puts a light on the progressive nature of the show
It's trying to lightly step towards the progressive side. It's sneaky and not good
And their episode called "love is love"
@@Psalm2710_ What?! Yuck!
Great... way to go @Maria
When i saw the trailer i too thought the same thing..
I do like too watch the Gospels in movie form.. Those movies are way better.
That shows so much wisdom. Many people fall by the wayside from watching good shows without discernment.
We are not to add to or take away from the word of God! Period.
It’s a movie series NOT an exposition of God’s Word
All the books in the world couldn't contain everything Jesus did if they were written down. There is no way Jesus could have kept fellowship with twelve ordinary men for 3 and a half years if he never demonstrated his human side.
Nobody added to the word of God because the tv show doesn’t claim to have the authority of the word of God.
I agree 100%
I prefer to not watch it. I can’t get down with make believe or fill in the blank especially with scripture.
Don't be to suspicious.Ifeel the Holy Spirit is around..

Love this comment!!!🙏🏽✝️
Amen 🙏🏽
@@samanthahammondsrealtoroh please tell us what’s inaccurate about it
Then you support Satan and the Antichrist. Smith created his own version of god and Jesus to rip many into hell.
BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS!!!
Allen, you don't think that some things portrayed in "Jesus" in the show aren't worth warning people about? Things like when Jesus is practicing his lines for his sermon (wouldn't God have given him everything he needed to say?) that might take away from his divinity?
I agree I’m disappointed in Allen
Blessings
Agree. Don't agree with him on this one .
It's a second commandment violation. Full stop.
If you want to get to know Jesus read your Bible which unveils the living Word of God.
Love the video - one point of disagreement:
I’m not sure we should take it so lightly that a drama about the Bible would use creative freedom.

👹 This CRINGE show opens with the fake character "LILITH". All you need to know. I bet the Hallow app pushes the FALSE RAPTURE DOCTRINE. 🔥🔥🔥
I found my faith again after watching the chosen. It was lost for quite some time. I absolutely love the show and i can't wait til season 4.
What good is your faith if yoir Jesus cannot save you. If faith an entity or do you need to seek the Truth, the true Eternal Word made flesh?
Same! Welcome back!
Thanks!
We don't need people trying to make the greatest story ever told more fun to watch
Stay biblical and perserve the truth.
Thank you!!!! Amen to this.
They are not adding to scripture. This is a TV show. It is not the Bible. It is done respectfully by Dallas and his team.
So whatever the message is in a movie, producer/production are on the same team, its who approves the final cut.
what propaganda can you not separate from what is portrayed on the screen?
@@jennywidner4889 For starters the appearance of all the characters. People really believe those ancient people looked like that.
Secondly people often conflate the word jew for a group of people when in reality it's not. The people in the first century didn't look like those of today, and lastly where are the other tribes of Israel? You do know it's 12 tribes right? If Jewish people are descendant of "Judah," well Judah is just one tribe, people often forget that, I could go on and on, but UA-cam will just delete my comment.
I agree with you and it's one of the reasons why I won't watch it
@@thechi2848 uh, seriously?
@@AllThingsNew1723I agree.
God speaks to us directly through His Word.
Right off the bat. I have issue with Christians being unequally yoked in business with Mormons who are not true Believers.
Do you ever do business with people who are not Christians? Have you ever had someone come to your home and provide a service who was NOT a Christian? If so, you too have been "in business" with people who are not Christians. The Bible doesn't teach that we not be IN the world but not OF the world, correct?
As long as the truth is being revealed, told to the people………who cares.
What kind of people did Jesus hang out with? It wasn’t the righteous. Love your neighbor, he even said love your enemy. Be the light that shines!
Amen Beloved!!!
He didn't rewrite the Beatitudes. He changed the order in which He stated the speech.
Just now watching this! Soooooo glad that you and Dallas did a video as response!
There's a lotta deception in christianity... We're fast moving into Matthew 24:24 territory... The Chosen presents "another Jesus" - NOT the Jesus of the Bible.
maybe you dont know Jesus as well as you think
So where is the line for "who cares where the funding comes from"? At what point does trying not to "bite the hand that feeds you" slip into the content itself? And at that point how many believers will be strong secure and sound enough in their faith to turn it off? Saying Christians need to basically get over it when it comes to music and TV/movie productions seems like terrible advice. Disappointing at the least. Just as your previous videos on worship music have suggested, there is no place for heracy, inaccurate theology in the church or the on lips of its people. Love your videos, but this is disappointing.
After watching 2 seasons, uninstalled Chosen app, and have "chosen" not to watch it anymore. I"ll stick to the Bible.

HAPPY, ABUNDANT, PEACEFUL, and ETERNAL LIFE and EXISTENCE on EARTH for all WORSHIPPERS of the CREATOR
The Creator KNOWS
that all human beings will just become worthless and useless dusts on earth after their deaths just like the animals as written in Ecclesiastes 3: 19, 20 ; 9: 5, 6
but
he knows too that he will not let his loving, kind, and respectful WORSHIPPERS who died recently and thousands of years ago like Abel, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, Jacob, Moses, Job, Naomi, Ruth, King David, Jesus Christ's disciples and followers, and many others to remain as worthless and useless dusts forever,
instead,
in the right and proper time and as written in John 11: 25, 26,
he will let Jesus Christ RESURRECT them back to life so they can all happily, peacefully, and abundantly live and exist on earth forever as submissive and obedient subjects of the "KINGDOM of GOD" or HIs Kingdom
and fully enjoy his and his Christ's eternal love, kindness, goodness, compassions, generosities, favors, and blessings for eternity under the loving and kind rulership, guidance, and protection of Jesus Christ as his Chosen King and Ruler of the heavens and the earth as written in Revelation 11: 15.

Well said
Thank you for this perspective.
I’ve just watched the first couple of episodes and I’m really enjoying it. The man who plays Jesus has done a phenomenal job
God bless have a beautiful new year I’m gonna pray for you too, in Jesus name amen
My sincere condolences
Not my Jesus !
Anything deceptive does not come from God, but from the deceiver, satan.
You took the words out my mouth! 100% right
Watching The Chosen has given me a greater love, understanding & respect for the men & women I've read about for many years.
Yes I have watched this show and it is amazing. It actually brought me back to Christ! ❤
Say you didn’t watch the video without actually saying it
I would really challenge you to reconsider your position.
Love this comment! Me too♥️🙏🏽✝️
I'm a 75 year old Southern Baptist, having been born again at the age of 9, and I have watched every episode of every available season twice.
Hey, I’m a 75 year old young woman raised Southern Baptist and I agree 100% with you
The fact that it's put out by a Mirmon company is NOT my #1 issue.
I'm not some crazed discernment minister who's going to call Dallas a heretic, but I am... unsettled.
