    i always tie a knot with the tails before weaving them in because i can’t deal with the 0.1% chance of my project unraveling- but i LOVE this method because it’s quick and easy :D

      So I guess just before chrocheting the two ends in your new stitches, you can tie like a double knot and then crochet the two colour as she did?

    Over time and going through the wash enough your project might come loose (and end up frogging) with this technique, so i would recommend doing a box knot to tie the two tails together and than crochet over them. I’ve made this mistake with a really complex blanket that took me AGES to finish, so learn from me🥴

    I love your content! I'm 31, been crocheting for 20 years and I remember as a kid going to the library for crochet books to learn new, fun patterns. I am THRIVING with all the YarnTubers and crocheters sharing content now. 💕 P.s. Look up an OG book called 200 Crochet Blocks for Blankets, Afghans and Throws! So many fun stitches and simple patterns to learn!

    Word of warning: I did this with a blanket I made and those tail pieces ended up working their way out over the course of a couple years and then completely unraveling in some spots, so really be careful doing this. I'd say it might be okay for something decorative or small that gets light use, but for every day items like scarves or blankets, go ahead and tie some kind of firm knot!

    Personally, I also will take the prior tail, loop it over the 2 loops on the hook, then continue & stitch over it that way, especially if it's a dc stitch, looping the tail over the second part of the stitch. This way, the direction of the tail is not just in a straight line & is less likely to be pulled all of the way out!

    • @purpleheart3000
      @purpleheart3000 2 роки тому +5

      Could be a few things:
      -your tension is inconsistent (unlikely)
      -you're skipping the first stitch in the row
      -you're skipping the last stitch in the row
      If it's not your tension, count your stitches per row (or however many the pattern says you need). If it's not the same every time, check to make sure you're working the first and last stitch of each row.

    • @princesspeachypawz
      @princesspeachypawz 2 роки тому +6

      I know this is crochet, but it's the same deal with knitting as well: certain material needles paired with different yarn fabrics can make your needle slip or drag. Steel needles are very easy for the yarn to slide on, while wood and some plastic can make the yarn get caught and difficult to work with. Cotton will be more grippy, while silk will not. Testing out different combos can help you figure out what works best for you!

    How do you change colors in a round?? It looks so odd when I do it! It is such a struggle for me!

    • @purpleheart3000
      @purpleheart3000 2 роки тому +5

      Are you working in rows or spiral? It's hard to switch colors in a spiral because the rows don't close/end and your color change is pretty obvious. If you're working in rows, same principle as this video! On the last yarn over of the row (the one where you slip stitch in the first stitch of the row before chaining for the next one), change yarns to the next color. Good luck!

    • @mkxmaster4482
      @mkxmaster4482 8 місяців тому

      You can make it less obvious by doing a slip stitch. Another way I saw was doing an invisible fasten off when you want to change, then ss join and continue with your new color.

      Mine slip out every once in a while, usually because pulling the tails up to the next row left a loop on the outside that was long enough to catch on someone's finger or a piece of furniture. You can make even more sure they don't come free by adding a trim or edging to your work. It'll also look awesome and stabilize the edges of your piece, so win-win!!
