The tip of having a very short back swing and accelerating through for short putts, is definitely something I need to try. Very good video.
🤔”That Guy” is now known as Mr 58 ! He didn’t get that name missing putts ! 🤣👍
OK simp. Most people know him as something else
It's kind of weird he didn't even mention his name.
@@shmirginhymer1867 Yep, sure is !
Yeah don't pay attention to the guy doing it the best, he's weird.
@@shmirginhymer1867LIV is the Donald Trump of golf 😂
Excellent video on putting Matt! I'll definitely be putting some of these tips into my putting routine! Well Done Matt! Keep up the good work!
I’d forgotten this. Thanks for the reminder. Hat tip to Paul Runyon.
Great tips!! I really appreciated the tip on the shorter putts, and how to accelerate through the putt!!
Step aside Loren Roberts, Brad Faxon, Gentle Ben Crenshaw et al. Mr Short game is the new - BOSS OF THE MOSS !!!! Been golfing 52 years and these and these alone are the best putting tips that I have ever received !! God Bless You Sir.
Awesome Matt, thanks for the tips! "Left shoulder up, in the cup. Left shoulder around, still on the ground!" Always enjoy your videos.
Great lesson Matt. I enjoyed every point you hit.
Good advice Matt. Thanks.
The cherry on top nailed it! It took me a while to figure out that decel was making me miss gimmes left.
Great advice. A couple of my tweaks to try. Inside 6-ft I like to take the putter back and then pause (don't knock it until you try it) and THEN accelerate thru the ball. I also use Dave Stockton's advice and look at the line (not the ball) I want the putter head to trace. It's like painting the ball into the hole. A face-balanced putter supports this style best. Works for me. Lots of 1-putts. I do recommend cross-handed putting for two reasons (Dave Pelz agrees) the right hand's fine motor skills are on the top of the club which controls aim and the straight left hand only adds solid stability. Finally, I agree with the other comment regarding grip pressure: Light enough hold the club but not influence the direction it travels.
Thankyou for those tips, it's great information that is hard to get from coaches and other videos 👍
Dear mr Short Game, Thanks ever so much for the bend over tip. I have improved my putting since implementing your advice. Wish i had got this instruction sooner.
Best regards Carl-Fredrik 🇸🇪
Love the 6th tip......thanks Matt
great tips brother!
Thank You Well Done!
I can't like this video enough! Great tips!
This was a great video, thank you for the tips!
Excellent tips Matt. Engaging, to the point and smart advise as ever.
The only element I might add is to stand a suitable distance away so that the alignment line on the ball appears online so you can trust it and not try to redirect as approaching the ball.
Thanks Matt
I love your videos thanks for your advice
Thank you for your comments on putting the tips helped me yesterday and as far as tiger goes in UA-cam golf he’s never done anything for me and I understood the perfect practice makes perfect not just go hit some balls tiger
LOVE the short back, accelerate through thought. I would add to it by thinking of pace when practicing one of the best tips I've heard in quite a while!
Hey Matt!
Been following you for a year now i think🤔
Juste wanted to say thank you!
I'm a pretty neat player (2hcp)
But i always struggle with the short game.
I practice and practice some of your tips. Getting from 1 upndown every two 18 holes, to 3 every single 18 holes!
I now hold my game with my short game (since my long game is top tier 😅)
All i needed you a putting tutorial, and this video may help me to get from 36-34 putts to 30-28 putts 🙏
Keep it going, love all your videos!
Best regards from France!
Legit 👌🏼
Mr SG: many many chapters on putting disciplines, drills etc. more putting chatter & philosophy is GOOD!
need this
Matt tried your putting tips today. I played nine holes and one putted 4 greens and left 2 other putts on the lip. No 3 putts. I will use this video as my putting video. Love the channel.
Come to my course and we will try to shoot under 60.
The guy that putts with straight arms is known as the best putter out there right now isn’t he?
The elbows in is a game changer.
If your backstroke is shorter than follow-through because your advice, that’s very tough to be consistent. Almost are great putters are the opposite, longer backstroke and thx to modern tech we now know most decelerate. Cam Smith, John Rahn, Tiger Woods, Brad Faxon… The the stroke ratio is 2:1 to about .6 back to .3 forward with total of about. .9. That’s the measured magic formula with slight variations.
MSG- what would you say about Crenshaw and Faxons strokes? They both took the putter back longer than their follow throughs. Both regarded as finest putters of there generation.
Do u use 34 inch?
“That Guy” should have been on the Ryder Cup Team!
Pick a spot 12-18" past hole and look at that. Never look at the hole. Bell curve says half of all putts will be short so move your target so 0-5% will be short (severe uphill putts...um no).
"We don't need to copy THAT guy." LOL😅
Thanks Matt! By the way, when did you get your PGA teaching professional certification?
Light grip with your hands.
Push it through on short puts
I don’t know why I am such a bad putter and I can’t seem to read the greens and speed.. but golf is a great game ( most of the time)
Pace off your putt. Always. 8 paces generally, for me, on a flat putt, means I bring putter back 8" (you should take 10 min on practice green to dial this in, sometimes 8" gives you 6 paces or 10). Use plumb bob to see break. Uphill putts need 30-40% less break and downhill 30-40% more.
Thanks for the tips👍🏼
I prefer to lock the elbows like Bryson. I don’t get those crazy 8’s in my putting stroke anymore
My elbows bent and in causes my putter to go toe up just a bit. But I make far more putts that way than uncomfortable and flat on the ground.
I'm the same. Stope me dragging them left
Dude put happy Gilmore in there 😂
Didnt mention most important tip of all, dont move head until ball is long gone. Looking at put to soon will cause a pull.
Tiger said “i dont watch 5 ft putts go in, i listen to them hit bottom of cup”.
what happened to the good good putter?
I wanna copy Bryson lol
First😀
Sometimes people are back eye dominate and have to look around their nose to see the path they created. So it's not that simple.
Does THAT guy like to wear a French hat by chance?
Approx 40% of our shots are putting at all levels, bad putting is brutal.
You do want to copy that guy he has the most stable stroke there is
Grip pressure is one of the most important things in a putt in my opinion. You could find your perfect line, line it up, take a perfect practice swing. But if your grip pressure changes at all in your stroke, you will miss by a mile.
