My name is David and with my dog Lefty we live full time in our converted ambulance RV. I made this change to my 'standard' life and you can too! Like, subscribe and comment - Lefty would appreciate it - he wants the adventures to keep coming!
The Campulance is a 2002 Ford E450 Marque Commando 164 Class III ambulance powered by the Ford 7.3l Powerstroke diesel engine and a 4 speed transmission. Lefty is a 65lb Staffordshire Terrier (best I can tell) that came from the Verona Street Animal Shelter in March 2014 at the age of 9 months. We have been living full time in the campulance since July 2019.

I started watching your videos a few days ago because I watched a more recent video about you helping a stranded woman in her 70s who was having trouble hitching up her trailer. At least, I believe it was a more recent video. So, I went to your playlists and started watching your very first videos and I swear I said to myself, "This guy is a completely different person." Nomadic life looks good on your and I hope that now, Saturday evening, October 30th, 2021, you are feeling even more "at home" in your rig. I am loving your videos and hello to Lefty, too! =^..^= Sam.

I can't see why anyone would leave a rude or nasty comment on your channel. You are a very nice and caring person who has this channel to help others. Those kind of people are bitter and don't have a life, so they envy yours. I wish you all the luck in your channel, and keep doing what you love best. I agree with the others, you have unwound and will continue to do so. One of these days, we might even hear you start laughing out loud more. 😉. It was fun to see Lefty playing in the park with your daughter’s dog, his 4 legged BFF. Those leaving hateful remarks are probably trolls, hopefully not a subscriber!

I loved the AZ to NY drive. It was my only “ on the road” video so far but it’s my favorite even more than saving old ladies. ( I can say that cuz I am one). I’m so happy for you and your detox from corporate America. You should probably change this title to how my “Campulance” saved my life.

To summit up when I was younger another owner operator has said to me no your truck. And course once I bought my first truck I got to know it and now I feel very comfortable about the mechanics of it how it’s running
So the more you do it into your campulance you got to know your truck and that makes a world of difference. Takes a lot of fear out of the unknown

I just watched this video again. When I saw it two years ago, I started thinking that my pup and I could actually get to travel and really relax. I looked at all the different types of RVs and for my needs at this time decided to buy a travel trailer (and truck). Jack and I started our journey in April of 2023 and in the seven months since have put 7,500 miles on our trailer. We traveled from Maryland across the country to explore the Pacific NorthWest for several months and visit with family. We are wintering in Arizona in an RV park and learning how to really relax. Thanks David (and Lefty) for showing how even an old guy (me) with his dog can have a great life on the road.

Love, love, love, this vlog...one of my favorite quotes is "You will never get it done and you will never get it wrong." I probably have only been watching your channel for a year but you have inspired me to watch your older videos. That shot of Lefty sleeping melted my heart because he looked so content with his circumstances. And always remember that self-exploration can be as satisfying as the rest of your journey. As I vacillate between go or stay this video was definitely encouragement to go :).

Yep, it changes you. I lived in my RV for 4 years and when I started back in 2016 I drove to Wakefield Misouri to see my son and grand children, stayed with them for a couple of years living in my RV on the property. Your righ becomes your home on wheels you can leave and go where ever you want no packing schedule for a flight out of a airport motel reservation none of that stuff. Just food, gas, food for the animals and you, no rent, no electric, etc Regular maintence on the rig tires every 2-3 years. Glad to see you are better ajusted and look forward to traveling. Take care I'm watching your Fleet Fixes & Repair videos. 3nd one done. Stay safe and as always, "Enjoy The Adventure." I did 🤠👍✌

I firmly believe that completely ignoring a-holes in the comments is crucial. I know that's easier said than done, but it's important. It makes it look like you're thin-skinned. Lots of UA-camrs make this mistake.

Or just people they’re unhappy with himself. In any of your videos I didn’t see any reason to say anything negative. If I disagreed I just didn’t react to it. A very LOUD hissy fit and the girl in the car beside me told me that " it's okay, everything will be okay" very calm and made me realize what a nutjob I was being!! Can't wait to get some of that driving ZEN and LIFE zen you're achieving.

Who else is giving a "thumbs up" THEN watching the video? Thing about nasty people and their nasty comments, they are simply projecting -- they really hate themselves, and they make hateful comments because their life is pathetic and in you they see an ideal that cannot achieve because they are shit. When you read a nasty comment, smile, that's someone from the other end of the happiness spectrum letting you know you are doing it right! It's a whacky sort of kind of almost compliment.

I like you had a fairly stressful job as a Project HVAC Coordinator for many years at a very large High Tech manufacturer and loved it until people were seeing that I was good at my job so they loaded up their work on me and I always had about 300 projects until I got fed up. I was waking up at 1-2 am every night thinking about work so that's when I decided to retire and never looked back. So much happier!!!

David, What it all cum's down to is, "you have found your comfort zone in life". It takes everyone different times to come to this realization in one's journey in life. All the other events & accomplishments you have made have now all cum full circle & that is GREAT! No one is built the same way, we may have similar likes & dislikes, but when it all cum's down to the reality of life, we are all unique & special & gifted in our own ways. For myself I live for the comradery & sincere friendship with another. Throughout my whole Professional Life, I was in the Publics Eye & thousands of other people & when I was not, I was a very grounded person & only enjoy the Comradery & Sincere Friendship w/Another. For past 4+ years been flying Solo. I yearn for the day this all changes. Like you David, you went about get'n all your Ducks in a Row & chosen UA-cam to be your extended Personality & Outreach In Life & it cum's with a Return in many different factors, Acceptance, Income, Rewards & I am Somebody, that have become your Comfort Zone with Lefty. I might say is also a Great Mascot for your UA-cam Channel. Yes Pup's Are UnConditional Love 24/7 Always. With your UA-cam Channel you are in Control of your life & what you share & experience. You can turn the Camera On & Record & you can turn the Camera Off. You edit what you want seen & heard & what you don't want seen & heard. How I have always looked at & lived life, "There are 2 Consenting Adults & there are Criminals In Life". There are others who enjoy Giving Pleasure & others who enjoy being Pleasured. The make up of the Sociological Factors in the Human Life Experience are 10 fold. When we find what best is our Comfort Zone we feel Grounded with Ease in Living. You give great reality, mechanical issues are a given to happen. There are going to be Negative People. Some people get thorns under our nails but thankfully there are Tweezers to remove them & the next day all gone. You & Lefty are always Welcomed to cum to my Mountain & Homestead 24/7. Plug into the Electrical & Internet Network & Enjoy all the Nature has to offer. Always, Tommy :-)

Hello my friend, I can totally relate with you on this specific issue. I was in the same predicament about 2 years + ago. I was working for corporate America Insurance Industry. Before the beginning of many changes, redesign I, II, III, Reorganization I, II, III, IV and so on we were just doing fine, plugging along and worked my 8 hours a day management job. About 25 years later, they started seeking CEO replacements outside of the company. Next thing we know, we were going through tremendous change, less employees, customer satisfaction survey, employee satisfaction survey and so on. It was horrendous, stressful, working 16 hours a day, high blood pressure, rush, rush, rush…etc. Snapping on my kids and sometimes I don’t even have the time to have conversation with my wife. In my case I had to reapply for my job over a dozen times. We really just didn’t have any directions what so ever. Our manager before I decided to retire was just not a very pleasant HUMAN to work with. Sometimes, I would get a phone call very early in the morning and she was just tearing me apart. Before she gets off the phone she will asked me questions about our conversation on how it went, what I have learned to improved, how to deliver it to my people on so on. Well my very best friend decided to retire after 42 years. In my case, I thought I am not ready to retire as of yet but when I started losing my memory due to the horrendous environment and unfriendly management/executives, I decided to listen to my best friend and retired after 43 years. I told my wife that I just retired and let’s get out of this state. Moved to another state, retired, recuperated from my lost of memory AND MY BLOOD PRESSURE IS 100% BETTER, have time with my family, children and grandchildren. I am a happy camper and I am doing what I like best. For the people that are still in corporate America . . . Let me tell you something . . . There’s a good life after leaving them corporates. I am a good example of of it and I thanked my best friend for convincing me that I will able to afford to retire and I am just going to be fine. Take care and always be safe my friend. Sorry about for the long commentary. Retired from Pahrump Nevada.

What I find out by watching all these UA-cam videos i subscribe to is all types of people who are doing there own thing. Keep living your life out on the road because those people like me live vicariously through your daily lives. It is nice to know living in a space for 7 months and going to a house like you are visiting is a huge house that your not accustom to. It is nice to know you crave what your used to structure wise. Glad I joined your channel.

You are less than 10 years younger than me, but we both come from a similar life pressure. Glad you are getting to see what has been wrong. I was an Intelligence support for Maggie Thatcher and spoke frequently with Ronald Regan and Gorbachev. I have fought many wars and mission planned many nuclear airstrikes. So high stress, been there. But a job there was no possibility of talking things through. Too easy to think you are doing good only to find you are not living at all. Yep I have PTSD, but mental illness happens to many of us. Loving yourself and allowing time to find its own pace. Letting go has to be rediscovered. Be honest to yourself, be happy, be safe.

Dave great segment. I was checking out your battery and terminals. I have a 2011 F-350 SUPERDUTY 6.7 That I special ordered new. I replaced the batteries recently and I went with a battery that I've been using for a long time you probably have heard about it it's called Optima. They make 3 different types depending on your application. They are gel batteries unlike the common flooded lead acid batteries, these batteries can be mounted anywhere at any angle. They are not affected by heat and cold like lead acid and they can take extreme impact vehicle abuse. The battery could be perfectly dead in the dead of winter for two days, let's say from leaving your headlights on and you could jump it and fire up your vehicle and it will be fully charged, in most cases in less than 30 minutes. They even have a battery that is for vehicles that sit and are not running but have a heavy current draw. I had an Optima last me 15 years, used in a police package Crown Vic. My son had one in his Thunderbird. In the dead of winter, 20 degrees, he went home at 2:30 in the afternoon, he left a set of external halogen fog lights on, when he came out the next morning, before the sun came up, he couldn't understand why a certain part of the yard was all orange. He round the corner and realized he left his lights on. He got into the vehicle, shut the lights off and it fired right up. There is something to be said for a great battery and terminals. Just thought I would share that with you. Keep your outstanding adventures going and we will follow along as best as we can. All our best Kevin and Julia, Port Republic, Maryland

Those survey companies should be shut down!!! That crap has destroyed the employee/customer relationship. The place I worked (quitting this week) always had a great team, great work environment, patients were happy for the most part. We got raises every year and complaints were handled face to face with management. THEN they started this customer service 'survey' which asked questions that were blatantly baiting people to find fault with everything from the way the place smelled to how hard it was to find our location!! If we did not get an "excellent" on any and all questions, it was a negative, or a big fat ZERO. EVERYONES raises are based on this, so if someone gave the person in the other department a 1, everyone is affected! What happened to just calling management and talking to them if someone treated you badly? I refuse to complete any survey of any kind, because it affects people that have nothing to do with any negative thing that might have happened. I am glad your company shut that down, and I hope that all the others figure it out and do the same. on the flip side, I am retiring in two days and I hope to see ya on the road maybe...

Happy to hear that you have mellowed down. Sorry though that some people have to leave such horrible posts. I dont understand people like that and why they do that to others. That is the one thing that hesitates me on possibly starting a youtube channel myself, the haters. Ty for being who you are and sharing your journey.

I love listening to your channel. Sounds to me like you are a caring, conscientious and competent person with a strong work ethic. I would label that previous work life as too much stress. I am a nurse in health care and cannot stand the stress or being treated unfairly. Glad you got out!!!! I am in Canada and hope to hit the road soon with all my 4legged loved ones. It takes a lot of courage to sell and change your trajectory. Onwards we go!!

what a great share, and the more I see of lefty, well! he's just too darn adorable, my happy place is the beach, or rivers any place where there's water, I want to take my mini van and do a hot spring tour in bc, have you thought of a book, you have a way of sharing on a gut level, where as some people need help with that, and I know about stress I have a high needs special needs son who is amazing, being in nature is so healing but I think it takes time, sometimes along time to deprogram ourselves, we live in a difficult world I believe, people like you and bob my hero`s sharing your humanity, and your obvious love of animals ,keep on sharing with us..thanx..kaz

I was in a similar career it was very stressful. I was injured a few years back on the job in a freak accident that resulted me being 100% disabled. The first couple years it was hard to except. As Americans we attach our identity and self worth to what we do for a living which I never knew about myself . This last two years I realized my career didn’t define who I am . I’ve excepted the new me and started seeing of blessings of my new life. I’ve always been interested in the nomad life style for many years . I’m hoping in the future to be able to something similar to you if I can do it . If not I may look into a nomadic life traveling outside the country after things open back up. I like following your videos it gives me something to reach fore in the future . I hope the positive comments out weight bad comments. From what read they do . Safe travels to you and lefty.

Over the last couple of weeks I've gone back to the beginning of this channel and I noticed every few videos you did seem more and more relaxed and taking things in stride. I've enjoyed venturing along with you and Lefty, keep it up. As far as the trolls, there gonna be there and try to detract from an otherwise enjoyable adventure. Keep that "duck's back" attitude and let it roll off. I hope to meet you on the road when I finally have a chance to get out there.
