- This Hyundai 8000 SELR back up diesel generator seemed to fit all our needs, but how loud is it? How does it start and what comes with the box.
As we get power outages where we are in the country side, we though it may be a good idea if we got a back up generator.
If you want to see my other channel that is completely unrelated to this one then you can do so on this link:

Yes a switch from one to the other is whats needed. Like a boat battery switch
Considering it. We've always got power problems here due to UK Power Networks. They're not a good DNO. Constant underground cable faults, overhead cable faults, brown outs etc. In 2020-21 I saw 6 power cuts, one of which lasted 9 hours. Thanks for the review, I wanted to get this particular model because I don't like the idea of storing petrol and diesel keeps much longer and when it's about to go bad, I can chuck it in the car too.
A "brown out" sounds terrifying tbh 😂
Thank you for this video - I was on the brink of buying one of these - but now I have heard the noise it will be no good for what I need - (Urban Living) thank you
Did you find an alternative?
Hi next time you update get a four pole Genny as the motor will run at 1500 RPM and not at 3000, cheers
Interesting video. Is it water or air cooled? We all know what you’re like with water cooled Diesel engines!!
Haha. 🤣🤣🤣. Definitely air cooled... All I can say is thank goodness it isn't a Nissan!
Great video! Could you please tell me what the OD (outside diameter) of the exhaust pipe is? I’ve recently ordered one but have to Waite till December for delivery, meanwhile I can prepare to extend the exhaust. Thank you.
Hey there looking to get one of these, how has it been? Thanks
Great. No problems. I did have a flat battery once but only coz I hadn't used it for a while. A
Was it easy to service it after the running for 20 hours?
Thanks for this. Mine arrived yesterday. Thinking ahead, how do you catch the used engine oil when performing an oil change? Slide a low-profile collecting pan under the unit and let the oil drip down in to it? Seems rather messy but I cannot see an alternative method.
My question exactly. I came to this vid whilst searching for a "how to" drain the oil on this thing. Also, does it have an oil filter??
@@nigeltooby7681 The oil filter is the brown long plug / pipe he shows you at the beginning in the service kit - if you are not able to get anything under it to drain the oil - consider ising a syringe & pipe down the filler neck it will get 95% of the oil out
are you excited for the new year of vine growing?
That thing would wake up the dead lol
Ive got one and have to say they are garbage , im sure they are made in china and badged hyundai as you see the same generator with different badges, mine breaks down all the time and smokes a lot , they really are unreliable .
Do you want to sell it then ?
we do have one like that generator but a different brand, they're all the same except the a kw, ours was reliable after an overhaul and and a battery replacement, starts like a charm with no problem
Yes rebranded Chinese junk.
This is rebranded Chinese junk and it's absolute garbage, we bought one and after an absolute saga ended up returning it for a full refund.
Why? What happened?
