MAHINDRA's NEW SCORPIO Roothy's First Impressions
OK, so the latest Pik Up has proven itself to be a tough and reliable vehicle, but now Mahindra's entered the world of class, comfort and performance with the new Scorpio. Before you start having a go, you need to go try one. This car, this 4wd, is so damned good it's not funny - as to longevity only time will tell but there's not much I could fault after a good look underneath.
The market launch in Australia of the ALL-NEW Scorpio-N is scheduled for April 2023.
Designed at Pininfarina, Italy and Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS), Mumbai and engineered by the teams at Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) near Chennai and Mahindra North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in USA, and manufactured at the state-of-the-art world-class facility at Chakan, Pune, the All-New Scorpio-N is truly a global product.
Tough yet sophisticated, the All-New Scorpio-N is a head turner with a bold and imposing design and commanding driving position. It boasts of premium interiors and comes loaded with a host of advanced modern features and latest technology. The All-New Scorpio-N is a 5 Star Global NCAP rated vehicle and is powered by 129kw / 400 Nm Turbo Diesel engine with 6 speed Aisin Automatic Transmission. In keeping with its adventure capabilities, it will be offered with true 4×4 capability.
True 4×4 Capability featured on all Australian specification Scorpio-N Variants include:
Body on Frame Ladder Frame Chassis
Rear Wheel Drive / Part Time 4×4
Shift on Fly 4×4 between 4WD High and 2WD
Rear Axle with Mechanical locking differential
Electronic Brake Locking Differential
4XPLOR Intelligent 4×4 System with selectable Terrain Modes

After spending a year travelling India and Sri Lanka where Mahindras are everywhere, they’re a bloody tough truck. They take a flogging and the locals don’t treat them kindly or respect any GVM limits!
I've been watching these overseas for quite a while.
They look great with a bull bar (same as the Pikup), snorkel and some good off road tyres.
Given the money, it happily buy both the Pikup and the Scorpio and put them to the test.
I'd probably get both for less money than a stock Hilux!
41k for this and 36k for pick up, so 10k more than a hilux but honestly yea these are extremely good value
It's interesting to see Mahindra carving a niche globally like Royal Enfield has done in motorbikes. Both are legendary Indian automobile manufacturers!
Yep, and as an RE owner I see plenty of similarities too. Mahindra tractors already dominate the world market and their vehicles are heading the same way!
@@JOHNROOTHROOTHY both Enfield and Mahindra are not just motor brand they are emotion here in India...it feels amazing that our India is doing great internationally too❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳

Gee that’s a handsome looking car.😂
Mahindra diesel engines were more reliable than Suzuki diesel engines
The sound of diesel hatchbacks of Suzuki used to sound like Tractor
Suzuki never made a diesel engine...😅

May I know if it is hard to maintain compared to other SUV's?
@@nyg4090 it's way cheaper.
@@jyotirmoyhandique-7332 Have you been able to achieve the claimed mileage of this SUV on city and highway drives? How is inside of the car in terms of noise, Is it a very quiet cabin? thanks in advance.
@@nyg4090 well I'm planning to own this wonderful car soon. Mileage is around 12 km/l in cities and around 16 km/l in highways (diesel), speed around 100kmph. Mileage may vary depending on the riding style and condition. High speed stability is wonderful and way better than the old scorpio and won't disappoint you in terms of handling and ride quality. Cabin is quite silent and there is no vibration when in idle but there is a bit of engine noise when pushed hard which enhances the feel for speed. In fact u would enjoy driving this car in both cities and highways no matter what the road or traffic condition is and also can enjoy some serious offroading if u opt for 4x4.
Proud owner 🤣🤣 Australia valo ko chu bana bhai. Ghatiya 👎 sales dhek india me Mahindra ki Nowhere
I wanted a honda pilot but sadly it is not available in india, so the closest one to it is this car and its damn good!
Hi all
I am from India. and having Scorpio classic and Scorpio N. ❤❤Love Mahindra Tough and Best
this is going to turn the 4x4 boys on their heads, looks good
Impressive. Few other reviews have mentioned a knock or thump from the backend when you load the throttle up or kick down a gear
Today, i feel Tata and Mahindra make better compelling cars in India, than even the Europeans. Global ncaap ratings are off the charts for both.
After driving them I totally agree - only sceptics and those peoplem who haven't tried the latest Mahindras make complaints.
Is their auto low range compression better than s11 pikup auto?
Anushman Bishnoi @Anushyuman did an excellent off-road review pointing out the the overhangs on the rear of this car are too big to do serious offloading! I think it should be limited to light off-roading, Fourtuner is a better car for serious off-roading, plus there is better availability of after-market and spare parts alongside the added reliability of a Toyota!
Value for money
Mahindra make solid machines!!!
This SUV is called "The Big Daddy Of All SUVs" in India 😎
Spec,s ? Can it tow ?
Sri Lanka ❤ Mahindra 🇱🇰
Great car at very value price :)
I wonder how the aftermarket will support it
There’s already a bunch of quality products under development that I know of under the Ryebuck brand. You’ll see them by end of year at least.
Looks good Roothy !
Whats the interior like ?
I’m not used to plush interiors but this is leather and lovely.
@JOHNROOTHROOTHY
Thanks for the review. May I know
how much mileage did you get from this car on highway and busy city drive? Amd what's after service of Mahindra in Australia like ?
Thanks.
@@JOHNROOTHROOTHY You prefer a peasant basic interior LOL
@@amuxpatch2798 if you buy your car based on interior alone
.... You are insane... Get help
I have one in the driveway, A Z8,
After coming from a 2009 Subaru forester.
It’s the interior that’s most lacking for a family hack, they have a tiny centre console, tiny glove box that will only hold the owners manual and nothing else, one single cup holder, door pockets are a backward step from the Subaru that holds a large cup and has room to spare, the dash centre info display next to speedo is very small font and hard to read.
The third row rear seats are annoying taking up a lot of room, even the old XUV500 has the last seat row that fold flat into the floor when not in use.
The Z8 is also missing the side steps, if I had my time over again I would get the Z8L just to have side steps.
It’s sad that I am coming from a 15 yo car and has a lot of features I am going to miss in the drivers compartment of our new Scorpio.
But the Scorpio will do things that our Forester could never do, tow 2.5 ton and get great fuel economy while doing it.
Ive got a 2WD 2016 Mahindra XUV500 W8 manual 6Sp that I've lifted with mud tyre's and just come back from doing the Bloomfield track....cant wait to upgrade to this Scorpio
Got to get some muddies for mine - the rear diff lock keeps saving the day so far!

Once you drive a good Auto off road, you'll never want to go back to manual. Auto does 99% better...
I've only seen autos so far - here anyway.
Go for Mahindra major 4*4.. Off roading videos..
This car is for Indian people for Indian roads. Your roads are much better than Indian ones. So this vehicle should be more than your expectation😊.
I agree that MOST of our roads are pretty good but once you get away from the cities and coast in Australia we have huge distances of really rough stuff!!
Hi All, I bought a Scorpio-N 4xplor in September - the vin indicates made in January 2023. It has a loose steering issue which Mahindra SA is busy investigating. I spoke to another person with the same problem and their Scorpio-N was also made in January 2023. Are there any members here who have a similar issue and their vin number starts with MA1TK4YTTP6A With the 10th letter P indicating the year 2023 and the 12th letter A the month. It is a feeling of a loose component on the steering while traveling at low speeds over rough terrain. Could you please comment if you have a vehicle with the same problem and vin?

Hi Roothy
First or runner up? LADA Niva 4x4?

I liked the Ladas and they did awesome things off road. You need to learn different machines to get the most out of them n
Roothy what’s the towing capacity like?

My Mahindra Scorpio-N has just been taken back to the Centurion Dealership for the 9th time in three months. The service I have received from @mahindrasa and @mahidracenturion has been shocking. My advice would be to read up on the company's service records and the steering rack issue on this model.

Wait till you test drive the THAR( if it arrive in your country)
Hanging ou - we tested one here a year or more ago and it was awesome, but Jeep went to legals over the look - the only way they could beat Thar apparently!!!
Mahindra cars are rough & tough.
But this scorpio n has only 187mm gc...one should be very careful while driving offroad, fibre DEF tank is even lower which can get damaged.
200mm gc would've been great.
We're looking at all sorts of modifications for serious off road over here - look for the RYEBUCK brand soon!
Bruh...wish we Indians would someday reach financial parity with you guys where this car is a budget option. This thing here comes as luxury and I wish I could one day be able to afford it.

Mahindra make tough vehicles
Looks a bit low to the ground.
Look up Mahindra Thar or Roxor
The previous 4x4 scorpio did not perform well as the toyota fortuner, ford endeavour, isuzu dmax or even its compact sibling the thar on off-road tests in india. Maybe the Australian version has better upgraded systems on it. The soft sprung front suspensions causes the vehicle to bump on its chins.
If you want a cheap suv with lesser off-road capabilities which you will be driving mostly on the highways then it shouldn't be an issue.
Ground clearance is a bit low, when compared with Toyota, maybe because Mahindra as a brand are pushing Safety in their products, this Car has 5 stars in Global Ncap & also the same on XUV 700.
Mahindra should launch their most advanced car XUV700 a car which changed Indian automobile😊
They have just done that here - and it's bloody fantastic! It'll take a while before the locals understand they have such good vehicles!

Didn't these just get a 0 ANCAP safety rating?
It got 5 star GNCAP safety rating, but as ANCAP requires some specific ADAS features to be there in every car sold in Australia, it got 0 stars. Mahindra can just add those adas features and get a 5 star rating.
@Aslam Khan but as it is, right now, it has a 0 rating....
@@mickvic-justlivin9304 Correct as of now it would be awarded 0 stars for lack of driving assist features such as AEB, blind spot assist and lane assist. To be honest not sure why Mahindra Scorpio N did not include those features to begin with it is not that difficult a feature to add on.
Both the cars I drive now would have a zero ancap rating. People in the know don't really care. Mahindra aren't looking to satisfy that end of the market anyway.
