It's great seeing what I do everyday on UA-cam. 20 year collision tech here. What we do is so much more than pulling a dent with a toilet plunger and slapping bondo on it like most people assume or think. 😀
Kyle, you'll appreciate this. At 4:30 today I was at a point where I could go home for the weekend or start on an aluminum body F-150 bedside, I ground my first spr at 4:35 and at 5:45 I was putting my last rivet in and clamped my last Wurth clamp for panel bond areas to go home for the day. Booya baby gravy

Thanks for your videos. I am learning to fix my own car. What is the purpose of black adhesive patch on the inner side of replacement quarter panel?
In some videos you welded reinforcement metal patch under quarter panel butt joints. In this video you didn't have it. When do you need to place it?
Why body adhesive is different for the gas tank area (white) and fender lip? Thank you a lot.

First of all, it is a pleasure to see such good work. However, it would be better if you could restore the quarter panel. Since it doesn't make any sense to change a genuine part of a car when there is not much to do.

Lol you are going to tell Kyle what to do. The right call is to replace the quarter. Also there is more involved then just how the technician or the shop wants to repair something. The insurance company usually dictates that. As an example if you add too much repair time to a panel and insurance company sees it will be cheaper to replace it they will say you must replace it.

I wouldn't want my quarter panel be replaced over minor damage like this. Too many potential problem zones have been created now. From rust, to water collection, to inconsistent gaps (albeit small), to unequal/not same seam sealer beads. Just too small damage in my opinion to justify quarter swap

    • @johnnyshd8250

Amen bro. All the welding that corrosion will start no matter what you do. More mud in it from sectioning than repairing it. Plus it is only a VW which has the curse of the devil as far as reliability.

I can see you don't have sufficient knowledge as a buckle in a panel is more of a problem, if you wish to correct it with a pull and filler you're cheating your customer, a swap with the correct procedures should make a life time repair

Can't believe you replaced that panel for that little of damage
I've seen some adjusters and shops pull some strings
Shops making a ton of money and slipping off the adjuster a chunk of change for going along with it
And people wonder why insurance rates are so high.

Not me I've been doing body work 45yrs
Seen butcher shops and adjuster's rip off the public
      Also I was hired by
Farm Bureau to go behind adjusters and shops to uncover their scams That cost the public millions of dollars a year.
So for you Morton educate yourself or play the game.
My comment was to educate the public
You don't have to use a direct repair shop.
Ask the shop for a invoice of parts used and a visual of damaged parts that were supposed to be replaced.
Stay in contact with your insurance throughout the repair process , Ask if there has been a supplement estimates
And demand to see the damage before that repair has been done and invoice for those parts , Supplement estimates is where they get You , Supplement estimates
And so called repairs are done without the customers knowledge
And in Alot of cases are fabracated / meaning there is no damages But the insurance company still payed out As Long as they have an adjuster to ok it
      So go figure that out
      Moron.

Sounds like you work with a pull and fill shop, the structure weakens when there's a buckle replacement is necessary, review the video all procedures were done correctly as to the manufacturer with all data the only thing done differently was the sheet metal screws but even still this is a quality repair

      @@erikcervantes1389
You have no idea what you're talking about 😂
1, this is not considered a structural.
2 , the screws were used for alignment
      and later removed.
3 , if you're gonna go through the trouble to change the panel , Why not section out the inner panel behind the wheel tubb that was bent up / but was covered up by the new panel.
4, at the start of the video you can hear him say , He caused the buckle himself while doing the pull-- which does happen sometimes , But could have been pdr or repaired with less filler than he uses changing the panel.
5 , and if you're worried about structural integrity ? If you'll notice he butt welded the panel in on the flats then filled over it with body filler .
I'm not kicking the repair , He does Alot better than most shops I've seen.
What I'm saying is he created more work than necessary , Which cost the insurance company, In return cost the customer.
There's no way in hell I would have replaced that panel for that little damage.
      Do you understand now ?
