When you think about it, Batman is actually the heart of this team. After the others are beaten by the Doom Patrol, he drags WW and GL to safety, gives an inspirational speech, and he helps GL fight off Parasite’s influence. Oh, and he recognized that Blockbuster’s weakness was his head, so he’s the brains of the team too, but it’s just fun to see a Batman who is such a team player instead of s broody loner.

Stan Lee may have co-created the original X-Men alongside Jack Kirby, but both of them did not create all the others that came after Lee and Kirby left the title in 1966 and 1965 respectively. Similarly, I'm pretty certain there are some people out there who think that Shigeru Miyamoto created Pokémon just because it's a Nintendo franchise, even though Miyamoto only mentored the actual creator Satoshi Tajiri at the time the Gen 1 games were made and had no other involvement with that franchise whatsoever.

This is my favorite of the Stan Lee Just Imagine series, and Linkara's discussion shows why: the heroes are quirky in personality and design but they work well together. So the inspiration for Phase One of the MCU was these books, introduced each hero in a solo adventure then team them up to stop the underlying threat built up in each story.

The Green Lantern's reaction to the exploding car reminds me of that moment from Sam and Max: Hit the Road.
Sam: (holding time bomb) Max, where should I put this so it doesn't hurt anybody we know or care about?
Max: Out the window, Sam, there's nobody but strangers out there
Sam: (tosses the bomb out the office window and a thundering explosion is heard) Hope there was nobody on that bus
Max: Nobody we know at least.

Yeaaaah, the Flash seems to have gotten the short stick character-wise here -- those jokes are really just kinda painful. But it's certainly an interesting outing, and I do like the twists and turns the story takes along the way! Especially with even the World-Tree getting in on the action, defeating one villain through the power of peace and love. Nice!

I remember the series. Interesting take and some of them are used in the DC Multiverse(s) Or variations thereof. It was fun seeing how THE comic book mind would go about building his own team from the story blueprints for the charachter. Different enough to be interesting. Just similar enough to work as a reimagined version that we will recognize. Like it or not as you please, but thank goodness we have it.

This Batman is actually inspired by, and shares a name with, a guy called Wayne Williams, and in both cases they were accused of very serious crimes by the police and insisted they were innocent.
Unfortunately the actual Wayne Williams was accused of the Atlanta Child Murders and he was guilty as sin, and is a notorious serial killer. Stan chose poorly.

I've got the German version of that name as my last name, so I'm somewhat familiar with it. There's a list of Stranges at en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strange_(surname).

God bless Stan Lee. For all of his faults and foibles when it comes to writing modern comics, you gotta love all the eccentricity and energy he puts into writing his stuff. Sure, some of the dialogue is weird and/or uses outdated terms, but you can't fault him for making interesting ideas. I mean, I personally would've NEVER considered making Batman a masked wrestler of all things! That's just how creative that man was. RIP Stan Lee. May your legend live on in both your fans and other writers.

You know, after watching Justice League 1x16-17, 'Legends', I can't help but see a similar tone and premise Stan Lee's Justice League has with the Justice Guild of America in that two parter. The idea of the Justice League meeting a parallel counterpart of themselves, seeing how different yet similar they are, and the tragedy of how short their time as heroes was before they came to an end.
