Zombicide western : "We won't do native-americans zombies because that would be offensive" Zombicide white death : "Mongolian zombies and necromancers ! Gengis Khan Abomination !"
Tbf, modern America is the problem with that. It is okay to be racist against whites and Asians to the point they are actively discriminated against. But other groups are protected classes that you might as well avoid. Native Americans are one of them. So I do not blame CMON for this one.
The stretch goals really seem to diverge from the theme of the core box as well. Almost like they started with an eastern European/Slavic/Viking mix and then at some point in the process decided they needed to add a bunch of Chinese mythology. It wouldn't be so bad if the Asian characters were dressed for the cold to match the rest, but they really seem out of place. I would actually be tempted to use them more with Black Plague and Green Horde, and use some of the BP/GH survivors that are wearing furs or cloaks in White Death. Just seems like they kind of got wires crossed on their overall design with this one.
Feels like they couldn't be bothered to do the research on weather-appropriate Chinese and Japanese clothing when they had Dynasty Warriors designs to crib on: Shirtless Huang Gai, Da Qiao with a staff, etc. It's just layering wool (less embellishments, same style) and adding fur, nothing complicated!
That's because the stretch goals are literally just them dumping a bunch of unused art from other games into this one. That's why it feels so disjointed. If you actually look at the art for some of the animal characters you can see that everything about them is human shaped and proportioned except the head. And even at the head they didn't try to blend it in with a neck, they jus stuck an animal head on a person's body with no regard for even basic anatomy.
It's CMON Kickstarter exclusive stretch goals. They're shoving whatever they have lying around into those slots because it's not going to retail, so it doesn't need to make sense. The only weird thing is that none of them have been pop culture references yet.
We have Black Plague and really enjoy playing it, we back Undead & Alive have enjoyed playing the Western theme. Never felt the urge to back Marvel and am not inspired to back this one. Am looking at picking up some of the Black Plague expansions on the used market.
I don't like the art direction in White Death, much like I didn't like it in MD2. Don't like the anime style. Don't like the furries. Not interested in the Chinese theme. The entire thing feels very lazy and just a cash grab.
How would Okko Chronicles - cycle of earth be as a alternative? It is also winter Asian zombie themed but with a consistent art direction and way cheaper on top.
I don't regret backing Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth because it looks much better than Zombicide's rip-off. Art is far better because it's done by the artist who draws the Okko comic, game looks more interesting than defending one giant wall, there's far fewer heroes to play, and it just has a better Asian vibe than Zombicide.
I was hoping for an Oriental theme for Zombicide but this is kinda half-assed unfortunately. If Okko Cycle of Earth is anything close to the greatness of Okko Cycle of Water then it will blow White Death outta the water.
The shipping killed it, £37 sterling from the UK hub for the core game. Maladum all in with all add ons is £10 sterling, with other hubs around the world offering almost the same equivalent shipping, shipping crisis? Bullshit crisis!
White Death, more like White Noise. I wish that they had had the creativity and courage to make something like a Vampicide and work out a way to do several building floors.
CMON? Creative?? Don't hold your breath. No reason for them to do anything remotely creative when they can keep churning out the same re-hashed cheap game and convince people to absurdly overpay for it.
from the teaser trailer I was expecting this to be Zombicide crossed with B-Sieged. So I was a little disappointed to see it's just based on a wall that just cuts through the map. I'm hoping there will be more tiles to be build a full castle/ fort that can be attacked from all sides (but I guess that would need a huge map)
People are focusing too much on the animals but can be justified by the fantasy aspect of it. The issue to me is that they intentionally named this white death knowing people would expect game of thrones theme and we got Asia heavy. Like the heroes might be cool for their own game but they don't fit in the BP/GH theme, hell they don't even fit in the white death theme. I'm a Zombicide simp and even though I went all in Marvel Zombies I was ready to back this one but the minis have really made me reconsider if I need another zombicide.
Right so many were-human people in general fantasy already kinda silly to complain about. I also expected a more Eastern Europe/GOT take on the game, but what I wanted was a Feudal Japan Zombicide. I can't say I am upset so far. Hoping for a Standalone expansion like Zombicide Invader - Darkside for this game that is Japan Focused. Fingers crossed.
You are 100% spot on in your take on this recent campaign. The problem can be easily summed up by a single word: complacency. When a company becomes too big for its boots (or britches), laziness sets in, creating campaigns like White Death. The company has reached a point where it will still turn a sizeable profit regardless of what project it puts out there. It is a trait prevalent with all big-brand names spanning almost all forms of consumer products. It is frustrating, but it is what it is, and it can only be changed once something comes along and throws a spanner in their complacent machinery. I'm sure White Death will be a good game, but what the campaign page says to the backer is, "You want it? Then buy it. Otherwise, move along". Complacency is a terrible characteristic of business practice.
Yup, they totally phoned this one in. Not surprising. Just disappointing. Then again, I'm not a fan of CMON, after their abysmal treatment of backers and their inexcusable shipping prices.
Looks like someone at CMON saw the Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth KS campaign and decided to try and do the exact same thing. Funny thing is, Okko Chronicles: CoE does it better, and it's currently open for late pledges.
That's my debate, already have TGW and have UDoA and MZ so not sure if this will be different enough to warrant backing it. Then again I'm at the mercy of content creation sometimes and have to back just because.
okay yes, I see what you mean... and I kind of agree, but actually.... I would label this the worst zombicide ever (for me personally!) due to the following: Oops, they'll do it again - i.e. bury me under a mountain of survivors and the casual abomination, instead of upgrading the components that will hit the table on a regular basis: the regular zombies (alternate sculpts), tokens (3d terrain, chips, etc), and some cool items.... since green horde I really dislike this bording at outright disgust (the worst yet was massive darkness 2) then, well okay, this is very personal taste: the theme is not my cup of tea. This feels like running after the OKKO band wagon. if there would be a pledge tier without stretch goals - at this moment, I would happily do it. Why am I pledging at all? Good question. I want the tiles, the rules, the initial survivors including lacuna coil and the guardsmen and probably the initial zombies. With a little luck I will be able the sell all the stretch goal junk minis to someone who will cherish them and lessen the amount of money I invest in this. But, there is even an increasing chance I will drop put of this entirely. They develop the zombicide franchise in a direction I just don't like.
That barbarian guy you mentioned in 18:55 is not Mongolian, that'a Lapu-lapu, a Filipino hero. I get the argument about the "cold not in mind", but I'm not sure if he could have been recycled from another IP. Researching a Filipino hero for an Asian-themed Zombicide seems legit to me. Although, yeah, he's shirtless because he's a Southeast Asian character. There's no snow here. So we should put a coat on that mini?
I backed it before I opened the campaign page. I’m glad to see it will be less then 150 shipped to me. I may cancel elder scrolls. To not have too many games (I already have too many games) At least zombicide I can pick up 2 copies and sell one to break even.
@@siriactuallysara That's exactly why CMON overcharges for shipping, because people do what you are talking about and buying 2 pledges to sell for shipping.
@@Gamebent1 Probably... it's something I feel like I should consider doing. Just buying big CMON games and selling them for profit. It doesn't really hurt anyone because its crowdfunding; it's not like you're buying an extra PS5 which DOES prevent someone else from getting one. Just somehow still feels icky to me. I don't like price gouging people even if I can get away with it.
I would guess that they are selling zombicide to the same people. Looking at backer #s, the outliers are Green Horde and Marvel Zombicide. But the backer numbers are the same by and large (For Zombicide) . I imagine that there are people with a ton of Zombicide sitting in a closet. I'm curious to see backer #'s on this campaign
CMON fucked up because I am still trying to gather resources to max out my Marvel United backing, since I have a kid now who's into superheroes, and they launched this. The problem is if KS completionists like me had to not only purchase everything for Marvel United (and I will likely miss a few things that I'll have to pay outrageous amounts; like 150 dollars for a four mini expansion) and are still in the process of paying for MU. Now, me as a Z:BP completionist already has to pony up more cash prior to the end of this campaign? That's bonkers if you want a large customer base that purchases all of your products. Lesson from this? CMON needs to space out their MAJOR campaigns. Where a major campaign is a product that they intend to produce endless expansions for. I feel slighted as a CMON loyalist by punishing me for my extra-loyalism of onboarding a second entire line of products.
Never played it. Campaign did not explain how to play. I have been curious, but this campaign did not satisfy my curiosity about how it plays, so I passed. Also, I don’t find the “shipping” cost realistic (extremely overpriced), but just a money grab that may increase once the pledge manager is launched. My lack of trust about “shipping” costs is my current reason to walk away from all CMON campaigns. Trudvang Legends was my only true back and I got a refund, less “fees”. $1 pledged Cthulhu Death May Die but didn’t pull the trigger. For me, CMON is something I consider buying at retail only or secondhand.
My biggest problem with this campaign is not being able to buy the add-ons without pledging for the base game. I want the TMNT for BP/GH but I do t want the base of this game.
Perhaps you are just used to the idea once the video starts. It's literally all about how this one isn't as good, their worst attempt yet at the campaign, etc. Or perhaps you expected yelling and shouting? :D I do try to not do that nearly as much as I used to.
I am not feeling this Zombicide, and I have everything Zombicide to date. I’ll probably keep my base pledge but only because I can use BP and GH heroes with it. Not feeling the heroes in this newest iteration at all so far.
I hear ya. I've got Marvel Zombies already, and honestly, I feel like I'm content with just that one. I've played (don't own) other Zcides and they all felt adequately similar to MZ (to me personally) that I'm good with just one.
This just seems like they are combining Indian, Chinese, and some Japanese fantasy all into one. Weirdly all the random soup of things makes me want to almost back it.
I kinda don't see where they have a choice. My preference would have been a Pure Japanese Feudal Zombicide (My favorite flavor). However, how fair is that to the rest of Asia. In GH and we have Asim as a clearly Arabic themed character. So it is silly to think the world is only borrowing from Western European Fantasy. The uproar about the animal characters I also don't understand. Because China surely doesn't have any Monkey King type characters in their lore...Journey to the West. On top of that most fantasy settings have Gnolls (Hyena People), Lizardmen (Lizard People) Rakshasa (Tiger/cat people) Werewolves (Wolf People) I could go on. From CMON's perspective If you get the chance to make one single Asian themed game of Zombicide and want to be inclusive to all the great lore of Asia, you have to include many things. Japan, China, Mongolia, India etc. Not all will get many characters but a nod to them with a survivor or two feels right to me. I just don't see any reason to be upset about those inclusions or to think that wasn't the plan all along.
not that random....HInduism, and Bhuddism are major factors in all three cultures do you think Journey to the West was solely limited to China?....the core set for white death is very "mongol Horde" theme, and of course there's a great big Wall...they've been including a lot of oni, kitsune, and other figures as well.
challenge accepted :D! The Theme for the stretch goals was Asian themed thus the heavy focus on asian characters. The abominations/zombies/monsters are not just some angels, but much rather taken from the asian mythology. Amaterasu is thus not just some angel. So yeah, thtat example was not accurate :) HOWEVER, I do agree on the rest.
It is funny to consider them passing unused assets on to other games. Reminds me of those documentaries on 80's toys that saw star wars figure parts retrofitted for other toy lines and retheming established Japanese robot toys for the US market.
I played the trailer and my wife and some said “Buy it buy it!!!” so I’m backing it cause my family is why I play games. That being said so far not super excited about the campaign.
Not for me, I will stick to Black Plague - this has a TON of replayability already. I am all for the shiny new stuff but blimey CMON knows how to milk an IP for money.
That's one nice thing about Marvel Zombies. That they clearly didn't use recycled art from previous games. You can't argue they used recycled art from Marvel United either, because the art styles were obviously very different.
No arguments at all on the issues with how the KS is listed. I agree with you and they clearly have this aimed at milking the current owners of Zombicide. The mention about the winged characters being leftover designs from MD2 I don't think has any merit. Amaterasu is the Japanese Goddess of the sun. Wings with eyes on them is lore based. Tengu also has wings. Many creatures in lore have wings these are clearly lore accurate (Or close) to what they should be. Google search is your friend. The fact that some of the heroes are not cold weather doesn't bother me either. The Hindu/Malay/Japanese characters for example need to look lore accurate more than fit the setting. Also how do you know there won't be an expansion that takes place in a warmer climate added later. I am hoping for a full standalone expansion for Japan like Darkside for Invader was.
If people would stop backing this crap from CMON, they would be forced to change how they do things. People can spend their money on whatever they want and if they enjoy this game more power to them. Personally, I won’t purchase anything made by this company.
I also detest CMON's business practices and Kickstarter exclusive bullshit, but their games are among my favourites. Best in class for Ameritrash, imo. I just wish they offered storage solutions to organize the million minis and expansion boxes
I know I'm gonna get a lot of hate for going against the general theme of this video. Amaterasu is not an Angel. She is the Goddess of the sun in Asian (Japanese) culture. So I think she does fit into the general theme of Eastern mythology the game is trying to portray. That's just my two cents
oh I know who she is, but this is certainly not very Japanese themed. They took the effort to change the names and do some mild alterations but I still think there's a reason we have shirtless barbarians and angel like beings in this Zombicide filled with obviously original stuff that has a very Mongolian feel to it. They stand out to me pretty strongly at least. But yeah we'll never know unless someone uncovered the early stuff like the dragon from MD2.
I'm not as off put about the Asian themed stuff they've added, as I am that the art style and whatnot almost screams (as you pointed out) Massive Darkness 2, my little theory is that MD2 was originally going to be very heavy with Asian folklore, but instead decided to go with christian religion (or however you'd word that), and the dropped ideas were recycled for Zombicide.
How much is christian religion embedded into MD2? I'm interested in the game, but I don't want to play as a fucking holy warrior or go on any quests for god. I'd rather smite christians.
@@Gamebent1 I don't really get that feeling from it. It has angels and demons, and a few as survivors, but both are enemies in the game so it is more like they are both the problem. It is more like the Christian flavor of angels/Demons with some Greek myth thrown in with the ferryman and Hades than anything to do with game play themes. Nothing to worry about there.
Personally I'd say Amaterasu (the one with wings) fits the theme as she's a Japanese goddess (supposedly the original ancestor of the imperial bloodline) and there's a lot of Japanese stuff here (kinda surprised that with the theme we haven't seen a yuki-onna yet).
It's a mix of Chinese and Japanese influences, which makes sense given Japanese culture developed from (suspected) Han culture. Fun idea to have a mix of both here at any rate.
@@traversal6881 Also some Indian (Asura, Rakshasa, Rama) and SE Asian islander stuff (Lapu Lapu is the ruler from the Philippines who killed Ferdinand Magellan, the toyol is an undead child from Indonesian/Malay folklore, and a bomoh is Malay shaman/medicine man).
UK Shipping and VAT on a base pledge is going to be nearly the same cost (~100USD) as the base pledge. Quite glad this is not that appealing to me (also, haven't even taken the shrink wrap off Green Horde yet).
I'm so burnt out on Zombicide I'm 100% happy with my mass market copy of Heroes Resistance. I've sold my undead or alive, Green Horde, and my Invader stuff because it's just too big and bulky for the gameplay experience. HR is a small box and still scratches the same itch for 4 players. The only way I will support another Zombicide is if they make a Pirate Zombicide. Simply because I've wanted one since Black Plague.
I really got into board games after the first fantasy Kickstarters, and picked up a lot of the promos after. Was excited to be able to back one. I love the fantasy setting, and appreciate the Mongolian, Chinese, Japanese characters. But the page is pretty lackluster and the art style is a little off... I'll still back, because the new mechanics interest me, but was a little disappointed with what was presented at the start.
Have every one but the super hero Zombicide. Was excited to see they went back to Black Plage when the KS started. Passed when I saw it was not a mesh with the other two. It was Far East rather then European.
You had me until you made your comics analogy. The comics told really good stories first, and when the gender changed from someone like Thor to Jane Foster there was years of buildup that made sense when the mantle changed. Might apply more to MCU versions I agree
this was going to be my intro into zombicide, but the pledges seemed just meh. so I'll just put my money on the thinning veil instead. great video btw!
Right...but their stretch goals are pretty must just more plastic and don't do anything but make people feel like they're getting something "extra" to justify the crazy high price. Also $100's more in cheesy expansions coming to fomo you out of even more $$$
I fall into the category of a new zombicide player. I wanted to try black plague, then they released marvel zombies. I love the ip, so I figured why not back it?!? Did single wave shipping and I am still unsure if I am going to like the game or not. Compared to other campaigns I have seen, this is definitely on the lazy side of effort to attract players to back it. Great video!
I feel your assessment is very accurate. Back in Green Horde I believe there was color text in some of the character bios and maybe even one of the instruction manuals that alluded to all the survivors gathering in Elven Kingdoms for a last stand against the Necromancers. I thought that would be the next chapter giving us a nice trilogy ending the series. It looks like however they've taken assets from game ideas like an Asian Zombicide, much like their Western theme slapped fantasy Zombicide on it along with some anamorphic characters to make it seem more D&D and hopefully make it sell better. So instead of a three part series they've pried in another "Chapter" hoping to gain extra from the fantasy brand. My thoughts. P.S. Really enjoy your channel .
Probably because they want to have a part 4 as fantasy is one of the most popular ones. This seems like a filler one. They will then release a Final one in a few years.
I just checked out the Kickstarter and came here to see what you said. To those who think it's thematically incoherent, there is one region I could see basing this off of: Siberia. Unfortunately, there aren't really indigenous Siberian influences yet and probably won't be. A shame, because a zombie mammoth--whose preserved remains are found throughout the region and who figure prominently in much indigineous folklore--would be awesome.
Who need this game? I don't get it. Do people really are hot about the xth Zombicide Game and really want to play it? I have 1 to get People into Boardgames, ok, I would understand 2, to have 2 different Themes, but why more? I mean, do thos people also buy 10 different monoply because it is so much different if you play darth vader or pokemon than normal meeples?
Hoping the stretchgoals add something to give context for the Asian inspired survivors lack of clothing. Though having played Dynasty Warriors there are levels in the snow and they are clothed that way still.
I thought this is going to be more about the gameplay of White Death, though I can't argue with a lot of your points regarding the campaign itself. I also have to agree with you and others who have criticized the mismatch of theme which is blatantly obvious and quite irritating. However, I'm intrigued by the castle defense style of this one, which is why I was looking for some opposite viewpoints on the gameplay to help me decide... because in the end, how many Zombicide games can I have? I backed this one at a $1, so eventually I'll need to decide.
I find it kind of funny that you are making the same progress with the video titles. Now you are not even trying to put the game name into the title of the video so you making it harder for new people to find your channel based on zombicide search result. (Also it is harder for us to search back a video we want to share)
Also your video honestly wasn't that negative. Heck, it was actually very positive and is to CMON's benefit! The message I feel like most people would walk away with after watching you, is, "Don't be fooled by the crappy low effort campaign page. Zombicide is a great game!" So if anything, your video was positive in its own way!
Great take KOA. Here I am the dude over here who has never played or seen MD2 but have heard of it. Now I see the direct comparisons and you are spot on. As for the game, it looks really really fun. But for the guy like me who has all of BP/GH & UDA with some Marvel Zombies coming. When is it to much? So of course I will do my normal approach. Drink a bunch of bourbon when pledge manager is about to close and hope there is money in the bank account.
Every zombicide game is the same, with very small tweaks to mechanics that don't affect the core gameplay that much. If you have marvel zombies coming then you are set for zombicide.
My game group likes Fantasy. My friend bought Black plague, I backed Green Horde, we skipped on all the rest. I'm hoping this is the last Kickstarter I back as I'm running out of storage space and I have such an overabundance I can't paint anymore miniatures within my own foreseeable life span.
LOL! :D I think most people should have 1-2 zombicides they like the theme of available. They are a great casaual game to play (with that bourbon even). But yeah, do you need another? Up to you of course :)
If you want to see a compagny that just stopped making original title games, look at Daily Magic Games. They just put the name ''Valeria'' to every mecanic they can find. I love Valeria Card Kingdom, but at this point, they use the name every game. Their last original game was in 2019... They even had a KS for 3 differrents games named Valeria...
This is for black plague fans. I got Marvel, I don't want more, and certainly don't need it no matter how different/ good it is! Marvel seems good enough and one of the best evolutions of the game. The only people that kinda get screwed are those with zombicide content that has inferior rulesets.
I’m not that into the theme. I’m supposed to believe all these characters are from the city of Wintergrad???? Most of these survivors don’t even look like they would last in the cold winter for more than 5 minutes. I was really hoping for something that would have blended well with BP and GH. I wish they just branded it as Zombicide East Asia…perhaps something catchy like ZB: Red Curse.
Amateurish, the one you referred to as an angel is actually a cornerstone of Japanese mythology. She is the hodess of the sun and recycled plastic. I do see this interpretation is reminiscent of hellscape. Now is this because of the mindset of the artist or just the one that didn't make the stretchgoals?? Its hella cool, ergo I don't care. 🎉 I agree that this campaign isn't written with the new gamer in mind. I also don't think cmon cares. Us ks addicts listen to the content creators and do the research. New gamers more likely get hooked like you did, playing someone else's copy. Keep in mind, IMHO, while this edition can be played stand alone, it is mostly an expansion/update to zombicide fantasy. I'm considering backing based on renewing black Plague. While premium priced at least I have confidence they will deliver. Damn, I said that about petersen games and mythic games. Sigh.....
My biggest critique of CMON is something you mentioned at the end: original IP games. I wish CMON would make more original games again, not from an IP.
Me too! By all means print the Zombicide cash cow to keep your business healthy, but I feel creatives need an outlet so giving them something new to draw and design would be really good for them, and for us!
I could not agree more, this campaign was clearly just a lazy attempt to throw whatever they had lying around into a game knowing that slapping Zombicide on it would sell. I expect that they were developing a Chinese themed Great Wall Zombicide originally and someone in marketing decided that this needed a close tie in their other popular Zombicide theme with the Fantasy games rather than having it stand alone more like Undead or Alive. Therefore, they just tossed the winter theme onto it after the fact.
That is a pretty common thing to do, come up with ideas or concept art, including for a specific purpose, but not use it for the project you started with, but put it on the back burner to use for a new project. Even using those ideas to start a new project. I don't think it is a bad thing to do that. I know that Yoshi from Mario and a lot from various The Legend Of Zelda games.
Pros and cons to that for sure. Like anything, I believe nuance is key. Things like the oriental dragon showing up in a demons vs angels game I feel is neither though sadly. They've made their products "catch all" affairs where anything goes and it robs it from any sort of cohesive tone or feeling.
I find it confusing that they are now offering evil-looking enemies as "survivors." That's what happens when you just mash shit together without any thought of coherence.
Sure they will. I Love the total war videogames and before Warhammer they focused on western europe as setting. Then they've done 3 kingdoms in an chinese setting, I read a lot of comments that europeans don't like it, I don't bought IT myself. But is was the most sold Game from the franchise. Cmon doing the same with Zombicide now.
With all of Invader and the Marvel one hopefully arriving later this year, I cannot see justifying another full Zombicide game, even one that looks cool.
Masters of the Universe is one of CMON’s games that’s also great and feels like a lot of passion went into it. But Zombicide feels so lazy and lacking heart now, especially this one.
Plus, they only have 1 channel showing the gameplay. Quackalope seems like a nice guy but he’s not anyone I watch (especially for KDM- bra Mithra rocks!). They should have a few more channels showing gameplay
it's a bit early to be giving crap reviews when they haven't even finished releasing the stretch goals or supplimentry stuff yet. it's comatible with Black Plague/green Horde, lots of new sculpts..it's going to be fun.
In the cards they include abomination cards for the few MD2 Abominations that came with the MD2 campaign, but only those Abominations Banshee, Hugbear etc.
Michael, this sounds like one of them "I'm posting negative stuff to get more views because that works better than my real fanboy positive feelings" I applaud your business saviness. 😂
You guys would easily tell if I'm phoning in stuff. Yall aren't dumb. And I'd show my true colors at some point over the years if it's all for show. Zombicide holds a special place in my heart. As I said, it's what got me into this hobby. So it's sad that less will have that opportunity because they didn't bother making it easy for them to discover the game more. Considering now it's officially made hundreds of thousands less day 1 than Green Horde, and compared to the almost 200 comments here agreeing I'd say I'm not the only one either. It's fine to disagree, but you can disagree without saying I must just be faking my opinion.
Silver Tiger13, this sounds like one of them "i'm posting negative stuff to make it seem like I'm edgy because that works better than actually watching the video." An alternative is that you could actually watch the video, check out the KS page, and see that what he's saying is correct. The entire campaign is phoned in, none of the minis are actual minis, there's very little explanation as to the new gameplay, there's no indication as to crossover with BP/GH except you can use some of the zombies from them in White Death. There are already way too many survivors, the survivors don't have a coherent theme, many of them are dressed for beach weather despite the frozen wasteland, etc...
Laziest campaign, not necessarily their worst game yet. The theme is questionable, tile art is bland and uninspired. Regardless, the amount of actually cool looking heroes/abominations unlocked so far is more than all of previous Zombicide kingdom combined. I will be going all-in.
Alot of the characters dont seem to be fitting with the themed setting. Cold frozen tundra, but wearing shorts and sandals, or shirtless. Its a zombie game with magic and stuff; i get it, but come on. This looks like cmon bought someones unused sculpts from another game.
@@talex-de didnt say they were wrong. Nobody is. Looks like a fun tower defence zombicide. Just noting the obvious. Many of the sculpts look like they were meant for another game. Or the sculpters started these before all the details of the game came out.
Zombicide western : "We won't do native-americans zombies because that would be offensive"
Zombicide white death : "Mongolian zombies and necromancers ! Gengis Khan Abomination !"
hahahahaha
Great point
Tbf, modern America is the problem with that.
It is okay to be racist against whites and Asians to the point they are actively discriminated against.
But other groups are protected classes that you might as well avoid. Native Americans are one of them.
So I do not blame CMON for this one.
I’m already looking forward to the pirates themed zombicide that I am predicting will come next.
You mean Black Plague that came out years ago?
....I would buy that....😂
Lets hope they get "ye banished privateers" on board then as an extra like lacuna coil.
or victorian age, as well.
@@MatteoFiorelli I'd be down for a Steampunk zombicide
The stretch goals really seem to diverge from the theme of the core box as well. Almost like they started with an eastern European/Slavic/Viking mix and then at some point in the process decided they needed to add a bunch of Chinese mythology. It wouldn't be so bad if the Asian characters were dressed for the cold to match the rest, but they really seem out of place. It's CMON Kickstarter exclusive stretch goals. They're shoving whatever they have lying around into those slots because it's not going to retail, so it doesn't need to make sense. The only weird thing is that none of them have been pop culture references yet.
Glad it's not just me who thinks they've crammed sculpts from another, Chinese based game in to this one.
Okko is a vaaastly superior game. They aren't even close as far as I'm concerned.
Thank you!
They quoted the price of the game ($110) to ship to me. Hard pass.
The animals are the best imo other than the brute box and the tmnt (even though shredder looks like crap).
Zombicide is the Madden of board games.
Bullseye! 🎯
Fifa
100%
COD
Except those other games are good 😂
I backed this because I love Dynasty Warriors. Those minis are worth it by themselves.
The thing with quackalope is I can't see wtf they're doing in their playthroughs. Compare that to like rolling solo or rhado or something.
100 %, no offense to the guy, but I can't stand his playthroughs when I'm trying to learn how to play a new game.
I love one stop coop shop and Rhado.
Yeah
Love One-Stop Co-op Shop
Yup, they totally phoned this one in. Not surprising. Just disappointing. Then again, I'm not a fan of CMON, after their abysmal treatment of backers and their inexcusable shipping prices.
Looks like someone at CMON saw the Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth KS campaign and decided to try and do the exact same thing. Funny thing is, Okko Chronicles: CoE does it better,
and it's currently open for late pledges.
Okko is a far superior game!
I love that you're a metal head. I saw Lacuna Coil open up for Megadeth years ago in Chicago. Great show
man I really hoped this would be my first ZC, but this is a hard sell. Looks like CMON played to much The Great Wall from AR.
That's my debate, already have TGW and have UDoA and MZ so not sure if this will be different enough to warrant backing it. Then again I'm at the mercy of content creation sometimes and have to back just because.
okay yes, I see what you mean... and I kind of agree, but actually.... I would label this the worst zombicide ever (for me personally!) due to the following:
Oops, they'll do it again - i.e. bury me under a mountain of survivors and the casual abomination, instead of upgrading the components that will hit the table on a regular basis: the regular zombies (alternate sculpts), tokens (3d terrain, chips, etc), and some cool items.... since green horde I really dislike this bording at outright disgust (the worst yet was massive darkness 2)
then, well okay, this is very personal taste: the theme is not my cup of tea.
Did my usual $1 pledge… I’ll decide later once everything has been revealed (including actual shipping)
That’s a good strategy. I might start doing that.
Thanks for the Townsfolk Tussle reminder. Passed the first time around - won’t make that same mistake again. Just backed!
I bet you'll love it :)
@@TheKingofAverage cheers, mate 👍
It is good for folks that dont have black plague / green horde as their first fantasy zombicide
We thought we weee getting Game of thrones Zombicide and instead we got Kung Fu panda Zombicide! Easy pass for me…
hah!
The rise of the Furries 🤣
Oh it looks like a japanophile Furrie edition - rolls eyes.
I'm loving this new zombicide kick so far
I like the winter theme, I'm a Dynasty Warriors fan, I'm sold.
How about:
1- Post Pandemic Economy
2_ Asian theme that might turn off some return backers
3- Overabundance of previous Zombicdes.
Woah that is crazy to not have an original game in quite a while.
Save 10% on *everything* from Into The AM: www.intotheam.com/save10koa
Most of the Furries are female. Wonder who they're selling that too.🤔🤣
Bro animal people aren't the same as furries as much as that is funny to say
@@DatcleanMochaJo it is a name to signify what I pointed at. It's human body with fur in them and a head/mask.
Totally agree! I was very surprised to see how sparse the campaign page was when I backed.
I backed it before I opened the campaign page.
I’m glad to see it will be less then 150 shipped to me.
I may cancel elder scrolls. To not have too many games (I already have too many games)
At least zombicide I can pick up 2 copies and sell one to break even.
@@siriactuallysara That's exactly why CMON overcharges for shipping, because people do what you are talking about and buying 2 pledges to sell for shipping.
@@siriactuallysara You can easily double your money by selling one copy?
As always super provocative headline followed by totally tame coverage
Perhaps you are just used to the idea once the video starts. It's literally all about how this one isn't as good, their worst attempt yet at the campaign, etc.
Or perhaps you expected yelling and shouting? :D I do try to not do that nearly as much as I used to.
@@TheKingofAverage :D I really did expect just that. My man KoA calming down with age, hu?
I am not feeling this Zombicide, and I have everything Zombicide to date. I’ll probably keep my base pledge but only because I can use BP and GH heroes with it. Not feeling the heroes in this newest iteration at all so far.
I hear ya. I've got Marvel Zombies already, and honestly, I feel like I'm content with just that one. I've played (don't own) other Zcides and they all felt adequately similar to MZ (to me personally) that I'm good with just one.
Looks like a lotta fun!!
So yeah, thtat example was not accurate :)
HOWEVER, I do agree on the rest.
YES! Lacuna Coil is amazing... Heav is a Lie is quite good, but i really love Trip the Darkness.
Ah yes another fantastic selection! Dierbium is another of my top plays :D
Check back in 3 months...same game, different hats plus a $60 parrot expansion
@@michaelmueller260 🤣
I really got into board games after the first fantasy Kickstarters, and picked up a lot of the promos after. Was excited to be able to back one. I love the fantasy setting, and appreciate the Mongolian, Chinese, Japanese characters. But the page is pretty lackluster and the art style is a little off... I'll still back, because the new mechanics interest me, but was a little disappointed with what was presented at the start.
You might want to check out Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Earth. Zombicide White Death is a blatant ripoff of that game, but Okko does it better.
@@Gamebent1 Okko is a Dungeon master vs players game isn't it? 1 vs many? It looked good, but no one wants to be the 1 in my group so I skipped it.
After I saw the hodgepodge of art styles and the overall setting, I cancelled my pledge. Just not my cup of tea.
I was like "oh another Zombiecide game?" Saw the minis - the Furries, I instantly went "Nope" and moved on lol
Zombicide was my gateway game too...😅
Love it :D
this was going to be my intro into zombicide, but the pledges seemed just meh. so I'll just put my money on the thinning veil instead. great video btw!
Fantastic choice! Better to back a company that's doing something actually creative, not just same old mass market crap.
To be fair, the campaign just started. Things will be unlocked over time and more pledge levels will be revealed.
Thanks for the coverage! Totally awesome.
They’re just milking the cash cow for all it’s worth.
LOL! :D
I think most people should have 1-2 zombicides they like the theme of available.
The people who still back it are the problem, big companies will always try to do the least effort when allowed
Zombiecide The Furries Adventure
Also note they hired to the biggest hype man in the hobby…a CLEAR SIGN to STAY AWAY.
I agree that this campaign isn't written with the new gamer in mind.
Sigh.....
The Japanese goddess of the sun looks a lot different and is not a zombie angel!
This game's got more furries than Disney's Robin Hood.
More furries please❤
My biggest critique of CMON is something you mentioned at the end: original IP games. I wish CMON would make more original games again, not from an IP.
Me too! By all means print the Zombicide cash cow to keep your business healthy, but I feel creatives need an outlet so giving them something new to draw and design would be really good for them, and for us!
Great shirt! Still holding out hope waiting for a DBZ miniatures board game!!!
I want to paint DBZ minis!
Zombicide Ball Z of the Dragon
Dude, the game has new a few new mechanics and awesome new mini's!!! I'm sold. Going to go back this now!
No worries, and I hope it's great! This is only about the campaign structure, not the gameplay :)
Therefore, they just tossed the winter theme onto it after the fact.
not to mention they aer just lumping anything "oriental" into the same bucket like it's all the same.
You going to come over and play with me when it arrives?
That'd be fun!
its zombicide asia edition and if word spreads to china they will get a bunch new customers. hopefully more as they lose here.
That's already a lot of Zombicide! I got Marvel Zombies all in, but that is more than enough for me.
I wish I backed the original Black Plague. It’s really weird to include bunny people.
The games I see most for sale at used game markets are zombicide
Masters of the Universe is one of CMON’s games that’s also great and feels like a lot of passion went into it. But Zombicide feels so lazy and lacking heart now, especially this one.
Plus, they only have 1 channel showing the gameplay. Quackalope seems like a nice guy but he’s not anyone I watch (especially for KDM- bra Mithra rocks!). They should have a few more channels showing gameplay
it's a bit early to be giving crap reviews when they haven't even finished releasing the stretch goals or supplimentry stuff yet. it's comatible with Black Plague/green Horde, lots of new sculpts..it's going to be fun.
not a review of the game itself, which I'm sure plays great like all the other Zombicides :) Campaign only here.
Did you just see the oriental nun samurai? Someone had too much magic mushrooms…
No one uses the term "oriental" to refer to Asian people any more.
the furries are what made me give up on this game! No way I ever sit to play a zombicide if there's a man-bear-pig character in it...
Love the furries. Man-bear-pig. Great idea❤😊
I have to admit, Black plague is my favorite Zombicide game and when I saw this I said nope, it just looks rubbish.
BP is crazy fun!
Will it crossover with MD2? Like BP and GH.
In the cards they include abomination cards for the few MD2 Abominations that came with the MD2 campaign, but only those Abominations Banshee, Hugbear etc.
I just want the lacuna coil heroes.
Silver Tiger13, this sounds like one of them "i'm posting negative stuff to make it seem like I'm edgy because that works better than actually watching the video."
An alternative is that you could actually watch the video, check out the KS page, and see that what he's saying is correct.
I get your point, it’s a smart criticism
Yeah...looked at the campaign and thought...'meh'. Seriously, it's so lazy it's almost offensive.
8917 backers as of today cannot be wrong 🙃
@@talex-de didnt say they were wrong. Nobody is. Looks like a fun tower defence zombicide. Just noting the obvious. Many of the sculpts look like they were meant for another game. Or the sculpters started these before all the details of the game came out.
There’s a reason the share price is in the toilet.
@TheKingOfAverage can you please do a video on black box games and their adventure in neverland campaign?
