I know Latina/o is an ethnicity and not a race but Sylvia didn’t go around calling herself white and it’s a given that the white latino experience is different than a white person not of latin origin
I'm sorry
@@maxinea.sakaki4151 you don’t have to apologize? I figured someone else would bring it up since one person did so I just wanted to address it
@@solarsaber I could say all the reasons i get so triggered but is not the right moment or place to do so and is a lil off topic kind off.
Thank you so much @solarsaber for all the content you post it makes me feel happy every time you upload I’ve been subscribed to you for 3 years now hope your doing good happy pride month everyone 😊
Thank you for acknowledging this fact. We get a lot of awkward and kinda messed up comments. I laugh it off but in hignsight it’s like “why??”. I am the whitest in my immediate family with 60% Spaniard blood. My sister is much darker skinned then myself. We have had people ask my mom if we come from different fathers (note: they didn’t know my mom to be asking something this personal!) and ask us if one of us was adopted. I’ve also been told I look “too white to be Puerto Rican”. And stereotyped too, lol. People really don’t know about how Latinos work and it’s kind of saddening. There can be white hispanics. We are all heavily mixed between Spanish, Natives, and African. People need to educate themselves. So yes, the white hispanic experience is very different.
as a white lesbian, im greatly disappointed this hasnt been taught to me or many, many others. thank you so much for making this video and teaching me this amazing queer and black history. i wasnt expecting a lesson but its an incredible one that i needed :) its also very stupid that people get mad over the black lesbian flag. its just celebrating your identity and who you are as a person, as well as remembering and continuing to support powerful queer women of color!!
This is very I'mformative I love learning about the history.
Being a lesbian is not an identity, it's actually ourselves
I keep hearing it "isn't it men's mental health month?" whenever I bring up pride month... and people just don't know why we have pride month, rlly sad. So glad that you made a video talking about the topic. Also, I had no idea there was a Black lesbian flag!
Isn't mens mental health month is in march tho? I though its eitther in march or october
@@eksprolek2924 conservatives like pretending to care about mens mental health in order to blast queer people, but they couldnt give less of a shit. the cisheteronormative patriarchy they want to be cultural hegemony is vile and performative, and only harms the men that cant express their emotions as a result of it. despite that, theyll use mens mental health as a distraction from actually addressing any part of it. "women cant be oppressed because male suicide rates!!" fails to acknowledge the realities of patriarchy. turns out the stereotypes we hold men to are actually more responsible for men being depressed than a fictional cabal of feminists manufacturing fake oppression, or something. and dont even get me started on how they use the suicide statistics not of cis men, but trans women. for some reason when trans people have an elevated suicide risk its because of innate mental illness, but when the same happens to men its a societal problem? gee, i wonder why that could be! (the answer is, of course, that being a man is a mental illness and thats the only reason they would ever commit suicide)
tl;dr, they dont care about men's issues, they just dont want to think about anyone else
I think women’s history month is March and Black History Month is in October (or in February if you’re in the USA)
According to google Men’s Mental Health month is in Novemver
Me neither. I will say as an asexual that I’m not found of the flag that represents asexuals. I just don’t like the design to be fair
@@kvjbreaker7054 Um, you sure you replied to the right comment- this says nothing about the ace flag-
the black lesbian flag is seriously the prettiest flag EVER
THANK YOU SO MUCH for making this video, I see so many people complaining that the progress flag implies that trans and poc queer people "weren't included in the rainbow flag" and it annoys me to no end, yes, the rainbow flag represents everyone, but at a time where trans and poc people's rights are so under attack, we need to drive attention to that fight, and remind other members of the LGBTQ+ community that if it weren't for trans poc people we wouldn't be where we are in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights in the first place
Tysm for this vid, I really admire you and all your work
true!!!
@@Stop-what do you not have things to worry about other than queer people knowing their own history and being aware of the importance of poc and trans people in the fight for the rights and freedom of groups that have all throughout their history been oppressed and discriminated against?
Those who do not know their history are doomed to repeat it
@@Stop-what You do realize calling queer people delusional is the reason they're depressed right lmao
@@Stop-what Imagine hating on others for things they can't control, must suck lmao
@@Stop-whatQueer people already existed when the Roman empire was a thing btw. Being bi was actually the norm back then so the idea that being gay is a new thing that was invented in the 20th Century is stupid lol.
So far UA-cam comments haven't been feeling respectful with Pride. I'm glad this comment section is nice. The other comment sections have been very Homophobic. Happy pride month y'all and remember Pride month is EVERY month. BE Safe.
No it's because the youtubers are deleting the comments who speaks against them
@@theforest8882 I mean from other places like from news channels talking about a woman burning a pride flag. People in the comment section praised the person.
Two words, psychological polarization
@@theforest8882 getting your comments deleted for being a queerphobic shithead in what's supposed to be a safe space for queer people is not bad
And that my friend is why I stay on those vids rather than others
as a nonbinary lesbian furry, THANK YOU for this! HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!
May I ask how you can be a lesbian and non-binary at the same time? Sorry I’m just not really sure what exactly non-binary means 😭
@@MillieDuu non-binary means you don't identify as either gender -- being a lesbian just means that I, a afab person, prefer female-presenting partners. how I personally identify/present has no bearing on who I prefer ^__^
@@tatterpixie oh! then im a lesbian non binary too :)
@Alaska could you just leave me alone?
@Alaska I know im not I just don't know my gender yet, i identify with no gender for the time being because I am uncomfortable with some other pronouns
As a Native American, trans masc, pan dude, thanks for the info! I had a brief idea of how this month came to be but I didn’t know the names of anyone, thank you for the video!

Definitely a good informative video. Happy Pride month Venus!
Black queer women and trans women were pretty much the heart of pride and the leading force in gaining rights for gay men and women.
It is so sad that so many people still don't realize this. I have come across so many racist queer people and transphobic gay people.... but like, if it weren't for black women and trans women, none of use would have the rights we have today!
Also, yeah i almost never meet a furry who isn't queer. I myself am trans and on the ace spectrum

Wow! I just learned so much! Thanks for this video! And happy pride :D🌈
Hello venus,I used to (and still do) watch your videos when I was smaller, the explanation was amazing, and I’m glad someone explained it!!! I love all your content by the way, and wish you good luck in your future progress !!
Thank you so much for the education on Pride Month!! I had no idea about literally everything that was mentioned in your video! Imma share this video with all my queries furry friends now because knowing this is important! uwu
Thank you for this! I’m a straight furry but I didn’t know much about pride history and found this video very interesting. Progress has been made, but the rights need to be protected. Thanks for this video and love from New York ❤

Sad depressed day
Thankyou so much for posting the history of pride month in such a way that isn't overly wordy and is easy to understand, as someone who is yet undiagnosed with adhd (but probably does have it) its really helpful to have a video like this which actually manages to keep my attention for longer than a few minutes or seconds, you did a great job making it easy/easier for me to mentally process! Though i'm still in the closet, i'm really happy for those who are out of the closet and are able to celebrate their pride freely, y'all keep goin' strong! Pride is something to be celebrated every month of the year, not just in June, and i'm so happy that people are finally making content which is positive towards lgbtqia+ people for once, its quite a relief that things are starting to get cleared up here. I can't really say this many other places safely, so I guess i'll say it here: I am a proud asexual, nonbinary, and questioning pan, bi, or pyro mantic person! All of my proud siblings I wish good luck on their journey, and I look forward to the day where I cna finally feel safe to express who I truly am!
My friend who’s 11 recently became a furry. Last year he created a lot of costumes and masks and stuff like that! He’s such a good inventor and he definitely deserves to be a furry and anything else he wants to be! He is the most creative person I’ve met in my class EVER!
Does anyone know of any Mexican or indigenous native American people who contributed to the queer rights movement I could learn about? God that was a very long sentence lmao.
I'd love to learn about people like me who helped push us to where we are today! I rarely hear about anything regarding my cultures , so I don't know where I'd begin :(
That too
Thank you for going over this topic, because I am questioning myself and what I may be. I didn’t know much about this topic and this was a simple yet informative video. I love your content and I think that what you do is amazing!
A great starting point for me to learn about pride month and the history of stonewall was reading a book called Stonewall by Ann Bausum. Since then I've learned so much more by listening to diverse voices in the LGBTQ+ community and reading other books, too. Happy Pride 🌈🏳️🌈
I didn't knew that was a thing until now (well I actually did knew because of a documentary but I think it's still a really important part of pride month history in general).
Really great video, love to watch your stuff!

Thank you solar! I didnt know quite a lot of this but now i do and i understand a lot more about pride month and the use of black pride flags now!
Thanks for this video this helped me understand a bit more about why, as a gay man why we have a pride month and my mom has been asking me about it since i came out to her.
Im glad you're talking about this. Too many people don't know how it all started and ive noticed people my age disrespecting thr elders of the gay community.
I didn't know much about pride month until recently. Im a straight fur, but i still respect those who are part of LGBTQ+

Have you heard of this HBOMax show called POSE??
Between my gay older brother and him showing me that series, I never would've learned about this history and what our black Kings, Queens and Rulers did and how they fought for this.💕

This is such a genuinely inspiring video and I feel way more people should see this.
I'm not a person of colour myself so I've never faced these struggles personally, but I've seen the effects of prejudice (even still today) minority communities face and believe that more people should be educated on this part of history
I CAME AS SOON AS I GOT THE NOTIFICATION! Love your vids solarsaber
Happy pride month solarsaber!
I just wanted to thank u for this informative vid bc I never actually knew how pride month was started, and I hope more ppl will be informed of the struggle that black women apart of the lgbtq+ community went through to give us the freedom and rights we have today. I also hope that more poc apart of the community will find more comfort in expressing themselves and being who they are regardless of the judgment and hate they receive.
Tyyy for the history!!! Also btw as an agender I feel like one day someone will ask me "What's your gender?" "I'm agender" "What gender"

Even as a black transmasc person, I haven’t heard of the majority of the people you named. I’m glad I clicked on this video. I feel like I should have known this by now… I also find it strange people would care about whether there is a black lesbian flag. Being more inclusive doesn’t take away from anyone, and it’s not their decision to make anyway.
Thanks for introducing me to the black lesbian flag. Need that for future reference. :)
Also, I haven’t watched you videos in a while, but I love your new fursona. It gives a black coded feeling, and I love it.

I like to see Pride as a time of celebration of who we are, but also a time of remembrance of the people who helped the community to get as far as it did just to get our rights and be appreciated and I’m glad my view wasn’t too far off!
I literally hate history because it’s hard to remember , but this is very informative and interesting , and I thank you for that ! Seriously- I do .
