Gargoyles: Goliath & Xanatos | Robot Chicken | Adult Swim

The bird poop isn’t much of an issue considering Gargoyles just shed their stone skin every night when they wake up.
Still, the thought of it takes away some of the gravitas from this badass animated show.
All part of xanatos' plan.
OMG I never even thought about that until now.
I thought Xanatos intentionally did not attack Goliath in daylight due to his own sense of honor (or in his words, "such a waste"). In fact, Xanatos liked Goliath quite a lot, so much so that G was the best man for X's wedding.
Indeed he did. He had a high respect for Goliath.
Ah, yeah, the wedding which had no ulterior motives for inviting Goliath.
The Wedding was only a dirty trick that he arranged with Demona and Fox to steal Goliath’s half of the amulet
Xanatos was never an "enemy" of the gargoyles. His machinations just usually did not align with their sense of justice. But for the most part even Xanatos realized they did for the city. More importantly he saw them as assets. He used them when needed and could learn a lot from them in building his empire.
@@vullord666 It wasn't just that. He found Goliath very interesting, because X knew that Goliath is neither dumb nor naive about the modern world, and yet, despite seeing all the dark sides of humanity and gargoyles alike, Goliath still stuck to his own principles of morality. X found that to be very very fascinating.
Kind of funny how Patrick Stewart was one of the notable few Star Trek cast members who DIDN'T do a voice in Gargoyles when it first aired. But here he is as if to redeem himself by playing the main character "Goliath" (albeit in some weird toy-based "cool armour" schlock)
Yeah I’ve looked up the cast of gargoyles multiple times. And at one point I asked myself, “Is there anyone they didn’t get from Next Generation to be on Gargoyles?”😂
Edit: Avery Brooks who played Nokkar (S2EP35 - “Sentinel”) was on Deep Space Nine. Seems like all Star Trek actors were fair game.😂
Guess they couldnt find a Goliath of the first toy waves.
They shouldn't have underestimated the demand for them
+Rafael Pereira It's funny to think the Robot Chicken creators must be scouring auction sights looking for collectibles and action figures.
+Nyrufa they in fact do scour website, auctions, and vintage stores for toys. They even feel terrible about having to destroy them to make them functional in the shows animation.
The staff even got a letter from one toy collector who was forced to sell them thanking them for buying the toys knowing they would remain collectors item, not knowing the eventual fate of the toys.
V Guyver Well that's depressing!
Nyrufa well only if your a collector. it's a noble sacrifice for the sake of comedy, much like the sacrifice of our childhoods for a pure dark comedy.
Goliath voiced by Patrick Stewart. Don't get me wrong: I don't hate it. I'm just in awe of it.
+CitizenKahne1992 odd since most of the TNG staff voiced other characters in that same cartoon series.
They wanted Stewart but his pay grade was above the show's budget.
Robby Bevard yup, but they instead got the awesome John Rhys-Davies.
sucks
CitizenKahne1992 How appropriate that they picked a TNG actor. One of the few that wasn't ALREADY a voice in Gargoyles.
Gargoyles was one of the best cartoons ever.
Yep until Disney ruined it and cancelled it after season 3. Liked both early seasons more. I like the concept.
I agreed with you gargoyles is one of the best cartoons I just wish they put it back on TV again
@@jenmarin4876 disney+
Agreed up until the Goliath Chronicles.
Although I will admit, i gave it a shot and watched it on disney plus, i liked the first episode, but after that.. i just couldnt get into it. I was kind of upset they didnt use the actual goliath chronicles intro theme for that season, and used the season 1 and 2 intro.
@@ghostwarrior3878 you haven't canceled your Disnazi+ yet?
I love how Patrick Stewart does the voice of Goliath here.
So I guess we can add him to the list of Star Trek: The Next Generation actors associated with Gargoyles.
Holy shit, you're right!!
Not only TNG, but also some were from DS9 and even Voyager!
Him and Whoopie cost to much
Should be noted Patrick Stewart was originally considered for the role of Goliath, Macbeth and King Arthur. However, Stewart's agent commanded a high salary. Greg Weisman and his crew thought of asking Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis to pressure Stewart's agent into lowering it down. Ultimately, they decided not to because they realized it would have been unfair to both Frakes and Stirtis. Stewart eventually did voice Goliath in a Robot Chicken.
Nathan Frakes was Xanatos
If only they had got the original voices of Xanatos and Goliath. This would've been even funnier!
+aderose They were busy doing other things.
+Frank G Oh you mean conventions?
+PeanutButterZombie00 Disney movies and Halo. But yes the other one just conventions
i bet Keith David would've been up for replaying Goliath
The irony is that the voice was still from TNG.
Shitting all over my childhood.
literally
+darkdowngrade what the fuck did treys brides eat and also karma is a bitch
+leo larose metaphorically
childhood is not a real thing... read smart stuff
+SwordMasterTala "Childhood" means the time one spent as a child, which is a real thing, figuratively speaking.
+177SCmaro
figuratively speaking... thats better
I would just like to point out just how crazy it is for gargoyles to slumber perilously on the edge of building's.
Could be crazier, real gargoyles are waterspouts, so they could be hanging horizontally off the wall!
That's because Gargoyles irl are meant to ward off evil spirits/demons more than physical enemies. Who in there right mind is going to climb all the way to the roof of a cathedral to break in!?
It's even funnier when you realize just how many TNG actors were in gargoyles
Seems, Patrick Stewart wanted also to join, but Agent said - Sorry Mr Sewart, you are too expensive for this show.
Sad tho, he could play Merlin or Prospero.
0:35 I don't know why I laughed uncontrollably when he slipped off the ledge. It shouldn't have been that funny but I lost it. 🤣
That's the same Goliath I had as a kid. He didn't have all that metal on him in the cartoon. It was some sort of steampunk line of the toys.
+Space Alien Hula Bunny Chronicles me two only mine doesn't have wings. must've lost them
+virus4812 I can't remember if I still have mine but I think I had only one wing.
+Space Alien Hula Bunny Chronicles Haha me too, but he did have some steampunk accessories.
You just know that as soon as NECA releases their version of Goliath, and as soon as Seth Green and his Bros at robot Chicken can get their hands on it, you just know that they're going to try their best to recreate this.
Looks like David forgot that speech of his about revenge being "a sucker's game" when he decided to take care of his old foe personally.
Of course he could've easily killed goliath in his stone form, the point of defeating goliath at full strength is for pride and strength
@@PatZalatoris This is what people don’t get about the show. Through most of the show Xanatos simply wanted to be powerful. What better way to prove his power, than to defeat the greatest warrior he knows of?
@@johnnyringo2670 l saw a theory video about xanatos real motives that makes perfect sense, to me and it explains why he doesn't just destroy the gargoyles at the very least it explains one of the reasons why he didn't destroy them which is just him needing the gargoyles to test his weapons on which is back up by the fact that xanatos always records all the times he faught the gargoyles so eather he does that in order to learn from his mistakes or he's just reviewing how well his weapons did against the gargoyles.
This must be part of the Goliath Chronicles.
Series Consideration That does explain all the pigeon shit.
Oh shut up it wasn’t even that bad, and that wouldn’t work cause Xanatos was already good by then and that was since season 2
@@namesdontmattergaming2756 Imagine being this mad over *checks notes* a cartoon from 25 years ago. It's a joke, dude. Relax.
@@NickPiers 5 years, and I recently watched all of gargoyles for the first time and every person keeps saying chronicles sucks
@@namesdontmattergaming2756 I'm talking about the Gargoyles cartoon itself, not Robot Chicken, which is 25 years old. And Goliath Chronicles DOES suck as a whole. There are some decent bits in there, but it loses a lot of what made the first two seasons so great. Specifically its creator Greg Weisman.
I honestly don’t believe Xanatos would ever want to do sever harm to Goliath . He’s too valuable of resources and a wonderful enemy to duel like a Joker to Batman
I don’t know about never hurt him, but yes, Zanatos doesn’t do it at least because he enjoys the fight, he know he could easily destroy them in their sleep, but where’s the fun in that?
Goliath was the very first superhero kind of character I became a fan of as a child. And one of the very first cartoons I started watching regularly. Bu this sketch has me rolling because I never thought of the pigeon situation hahaha!
that was why Xanatos never attacked during the day...
I think that it would've been funnier had Goliath awoken to being covered in bird poop, and his reaction to it
My only complaint about this sketch is why they got Keith David and Jonathan Frakes to reprise their role
I still own that toy of Goliath, it's in a box in my closet basement though...........until now. I'm going to play with it now.
+Frank Reynolds RUM HAMM!
+TORRiD am sorry!!! Rum Hamm!! Am sorry!!!!
I'm getting weird sexual vibes here.
Lucky!!!!
I'm pretty sure the pigeons claim this victory
I guess this was a draw. Speaking of draw, I loved the art of Gargoyles.
David Xanatos finally defeated Goliath.
But then he met his own "downfall" as well.
At the cost that he screwed him self over or should I say...slipped himself over to his doom!😆😆
And himself. Which is very ironically fitting
But at what cost...in pigeon guano?
I mean...he defeats Goliath all the time though...that's sort of the appeal of his character...
Felt like they could've done more with this skit.
+geardog24
No shit right? Had it been Brooklyn there would have been rape involved.
There wasn't enough room next to all the bird poop! 😂
Patrick Stewart ?
Awesome... Do it again!
Yeah Patrick Stewart, the only person from STTNG who wasn't in the original show. I can't help but wonder if this was someone's way of apologizing to PS for not inviting him to the voice over party?
+Peter Stellenberg kieth david was way better
+Abiy BattleSpell I heard that Keith David's voice is so sexy that he can impregnate any woman just by talking to her and he is not allowed to publicly speak unless he is accompanied by Gilbert Gottfried .
+MUMUMUMUist This is true. Keith David is arguably the Chuck Norris of voices.
+177SCmaro Also, Christian Bale is another who comes close
I like xanatos, he was a complex villain that wasn't necessarily evil.
Xanatos wouldn't do that he was a dick not evil and he wanted Goliath to know he'd beat him
TimeWarner: Batman the Animated Series is the most sophisticated and exciting cartoon on TV today!
Disney:Hold our chenin blanc.
Well Gargoyles had every other Star Trek actor do a voice, might as well bring Stewart in...
just realized - Xanatos is like a gothic Lex Luthor
Yeah, it's almost like Batman the Animated Series and the Adventures of Superman were so insanely popular in the 90's that Disney made Darkwing Duck and Gargoyles in that style to draw in some of the same fans...
Patrick Stewart awesome, but Keith David lending his voice would of been priceless XD
Really bizarre that Patrick Stewart is covering for Keith David.
If only Xanatos had been wearing his flying gargoyle mech suit.
I was kind of hoping he would break free of the stone form, which would've likely remove the shit itself. Just to mess with our expectations.
Well those pigeons have been eating food from hot dogs stands at central park all.
So it makes sense they have extensive diarrhea.
One of my favorite childhood shows of the 90s
This only reminded me how much I wanted a Goliath toy as a kid...
Honestly, I think Goliath waking up to find pigeon shit all over him would have been funnier.
Robot Chicken taking everything that you remember from childhood and adding fart and jokes to them since 2005!
Well Patrick Stewart was captain Picard and his 2nd in command voiced xanatos so Goliath just proved who was ... NUMBER 1!... HA
Yep, Karma's the shit. ;D
Memories. But really Xanatos was never cruel. He wouldn't be wasteful enough to kill someone in their sleep
You’re right David Xanatos. It was easy…TOO EASY !
Xanatos would never kick a sleeping gargoyle off the ledge like that. Also, why couldn’t they get Jonathan Frakes to voice him since they got Patrick Stewart.
I have the full DVD series of Gargoyles
I knew daytime stone sleep was a liability. it's an absolute disadvantage for the gargoyles, it may recharge and heal them but still.
It saddens me they didn’t get Jonathan Frakes or Kieth David to do the voices.
I never actually thought of the gargoyles getting shit on by day
A graphic example of why Shale hates pigeons from Dragon Age: Origins :D
They finally got Patrick Stewart for Gargoyles.
This would have been infinitely funnier if they had Jonathan Frakes voicing Xanatos for this bit.
Well, another Star Trek actor voicing a Gargoyles character
Not sure what's more amusing from a TNG fan standpoint: Picard covering for Keith David, or Seth Green covering for Riker.
It's funny because Patrick Stewart is voicing Goliath here and Will Frakes voices Xanatos in the Cartoon (along with Troi as Demona and Brent Spiner as Puck).
As this Xanatos learned the hard way: never break the Rules of Engagement.
I only hope when Gargoyles gets revived, Patrick Stewart can finally voice a character on the show with rest of his TNG colleagues.
Fun fact: before Keith David,Patrick Stewart was was originally meant to be the voice of Goliath. However, Disney couldn’t afford him at the time
If that was really Xanatos, he would’ve had some hypermeta gambit to deal with the pigeon shit.
Ahh Sir Patrick Stewart.... Thou can do no wrong ❤️
Xanatos knows he could just smash them, but he doesn't want to. If he did, he couldn't use them as pawns in his schemes. And despite how often they foil his plans, or maybe because of it, he has a great deal of respect for the gargoyles, or at least goliath.
Wait a minute... If Keith David was able to do voice work for robot chicken in the past, like the voice of the train robber stealing Thomas the tank engine, why couldn't they use him again for Goliath?
Because the meta-joke of Patrick Stewart voicing a Gargoyles character was too good to pass up, I bet.
Patrick Steward was one of the few Star Trek TNG actors who didn't ever voice a character in Gargoyles. Rumor is that he had been the first choice for voicing Goliath, but Disney couldn't meet his price. If that is true I am grateful because I can't imagine Goliath voiced by anyone besides Kieth David.
Maybe Keith David had a scheduling conflict
Guess it was a city time for Xanatos
Well, there is a reason the Gargoyles roost above a police station. If Xanatos survived the fall, he would have just been immediately arrested for vandalism, on his second strike, and would probably be institutionalized for insanity. Fortunately, actual Xanatos isn't that dumb and is a far more interesting character.
As it turns out. Slipping on bird poop was all according to Xanatos' grandscheme all along.
I keep envisioning a Gargoyles movie with this gag in it. Maybe not as extreme as this sketch was but the same joke more or less.
If that's not one way to ruin your childhood, I don't know what else would.
The justice has been made.
The mixed happiness and disappointment of a Robot Chicken teaser only seconds long.
Xanatos was too prideful to kill him like that.
I guess Goliath was very pleased to discover they invented showers
I think the lesson here would be not to exploit the weakness of heroes because their luck will enable them to have the last laugh.
Jesus...they couldn't pull off a decent Goliath or Xanatos voice? Now about the pigeons, I'm reminded of a strip from the webcomic Collected Curios. "Sorry 'bout that, Tonto. We been eatin' cherries. Looooootta cherries."
Xanatos may have killed Goliath but at the cost: he screwed himself over or should I say...slipped over to his death!!😆😆
Ita tie! Ding! Ding! Ding! You go Patrick Stewart!
Patrick Stewart voices this Goliath. Jonathan Frakes voiced the original Xanatos.
Then Xanatos sh*ts on Goliath. PIKARD SHOULD KILL RIKER!!!
But what about Troy?
thecommenter67 And Worf, he was in it too.
+stufaman Yeah, nearly the entire main cast of TNG ended up doing primary or guest characters on the Gargoyles show. i loved it!
nispelsm I forgot, Brent Spiner played quite a part in it too.
lol, Patrick Stewart voicing for Robot Chicken is epic and he's not even credited for this one.
That ending was so funny there those birds just shitted everyone's childhood I feel bad for those that have seen this from their childhood show, imagine the look on kids face after Goliath got shitted on, and thrown off the building.
This is one of my favorite shows ever but I also have a sense of humor
Xanatos accounted for slipping on pigeon shit and it helped 18 other plans.
Guess that might explain in part why the gargoyles were at the top of the world's tallest building, it wasn't just that curse thingy ;-)
I still love you Goliath.
Who knew getting stoned and sleeping all day would be a weakness?
Darn you R-C. I spent a whole day rewatching the whole show. Thanks.
Goliath was the one playing speed chess all along.
Surprised they couldn't get Keith David for this. They had him for a sketch once before.
0:19 Bird Shitters alert.
In MGS 2 sons of liberty I slipped of the oil rig because of bird crap. After that I got the infinite ammo bandana and the stinger missile launcher and proceeded to rid the sky of every pigeon and seagull I could find. Even after the other NPCs started calling me an inhumane sicko.
Most epic final showdown ever 😂
At least Goliath didn’t suffer like Turbo Teen.
Goliath learns the dangers of getting stoned.
Instant karma for Xanatos.
Hm I remember Xanatos being a bit tanner than that lmao
And that lady's and gentleman is one of are childhood memories
I have that toy! Minus the wings. What was up with steampunk Goliath?
While that could happen, that problem was addressed on the show where Elisa guarded them during the day.
+BloodManticore24 A 9mm wouldn't do shit against experimental power armor that is designed to withstand anti-tank rounds.
+Frank G Well, that's true. So the conclusion is that Xanatos was not very practical.
The irony. Patrick Stewart was one of the few TNG cast members not on the Gargoyles cast.
The ending was instant karma lol
I think Xanatos wouldn't have resorted to attacking the Manhattan Clan in their sleeep
No he wouldn't have. He'd consider it a waste.
