I prefer it when artists change their artstyle a lot because it means they’re pushing themselves to improve. I don’t understand why some beginner artist are so pressed on sticking with one artstyle tbh 🤷🏻♀️
Edit: to be clear I’m not saying that having one art style doesn’t mean you aren’t improving. But you’re more likely to improve quicker if you constantly push your self and excitement with your artstyle at least from my experience.
i'm an artist that's almost obsessed with having an art style. well that said, i've been trying to find a style for almost four years now. i think the main reason why we want to have a distinct syle is so that one glance at an artwork, you can already tell that it's our art and also our portfolio doesn't look confusing. idk. that's just me and some other artists i know.
Not necessarily. Staying in one art style is not ‘playing it safe.’ Artists improve even when they stay in the same art style. If they don’t change art styles, that doesn’t mean they aren’t pushing to improve. That just means that they want to ‘perfect’ their style so that they can expand the amount of things that they can draw. Most beginners want to stay in one art style because they want to find their ‘unique style.’ Beginners want to stay in that style because they either want to keep their own vibe or they want to improve in the one style rather than branching out without even one style down. Now, I am not against artists that change their art styles at all, I am just trying to give reason to why artists start in a style.
@@megasike3334 I get why artists become obsessed with creating an unique art style, but art is so fluent and is changing a lot, so are people. I feel like many create their own style by painting A LOT and find unique ways to express themselves. It can be certain subjects expressed through different mediums, but also a certain use of a medium, certain colours, that are always used, brush strokes (in traditional art) etc. It's not limited. But I feel the definition of "unique art style" is so limiting nowadays that it seems to limit improvement in younger artists, that try to force themself to something that might not suit them. Art is just such a unique way to express yourself... it's wonderful.

I have several art styles but they are all very similar, the only difference is that some are more simple. I found my art style and I try to do others, but it's just hard.

That's understandable, wanting to explore other art styles like that. (Heck, I've been going through different art styles since high school.) I think it's nice, being able to see something new like that, keeping your audience guessing what they're gonna get with every video. It's exciting and, Den, if I'm being honest, it's just one of the many things that set your channel aside from the rest. I say keep doing what you're doing! You're amazing at what you do and I say that if it makes you happy to flip from style to style, I say go for it! I'll keep watching and I'm sure your other 1.42 million subscribers will too. Keep being you, Den!

My art style is super inconsistent too. But I’m still learning and I’m trying to not have pressure to box myself in in one style. There is nothing wrong with having tons of art styles! It’s cool

It hurts to watch this. A single finger on my dominant hand is “broken” for days and can’t even draw even if I wanted to.
I love all of ur art styles! They all are a little bit different, but over all stay consistent and distinct at the same time, and they keep things interesting and fun!
Honestly, having a consistent art style is probably something I could never achieve. It always changes all of the time. I draw one thing one way and the next time i draw it's completely different.

What I love about CypherDen is that everytime I’m watching her video, it feels like I’m watching a MAP.
This is honestly so relatable to me .. i sometime get the boredom feeling of having to draw in the same style in a overwhelming way because i also wanted to try other art activities and it git stressful to the point where i didnt know where to start anymore!
I am also struggling with my art style it is sometimes difficult to get out of my comfort zone but I recently changed the eyes because I’m happy with it! I hope my art style improves!

Seeing your art, I think you should learn to make cleaner lines and I think the circle head doesn’t fit the arstyle really well. You should also kinda work on the colors and anatomy (it doesn’t have to be perfect a human figure, I think chibi proportions work well). Despite that, your art is still very cute, keep up the good work! :D

I think that its actually fun to watch CypherDens art style change as whenever I watch her video, I see her improve more bit by bit. She does sort of have an art style but little bits about it change everytime she makes a video so ye. Keep up the good work!

I actually think you’re doing it right- art style is a tool to evoke emotion and story, it shouldn’t be a brand. Industry animators are expected to have a wide range in their artistic flexibility so that they can work on a multitude of projects.!art style diversity is a good thing!

This literally sums me up. At first I was frustrated as to why I can't stick to one category for literally anything then I realized forcing myself into a box made me bored and hate what I do. This encourages me to be open to the endless possibilities of creativity. Thank you Den.

I can actually relate to this a lot. I used to change my art style all the freaking time because whenever I saw something I thought looked cool I wanted to try it myself. But when you’re doing a webcomic it might be pretty jarring when the very next page is so different from the previous one. I like to think my art is more consistent now (although it will inevitably still change as I improve), but I still wanna leave room for experiments and some flexibility if I can, because like you said, it’s just so fun!
Oh this is an easy one. Because the concept of a style is just a personal choice, that actually has the potential to limit creativity! Draw how your hands want you to feel that day! Let your heart's art shine!
Why did this come up when I searched up “The Owl House” I’m not complaining but I’m confused as hell
i use more than 1 visual style because different projects have different restrictions:
UI icons look different from game sprites look different from 3D models. even 3D models for animation look different from 3D models for games.
but there's not just restrictions that are set in stone by the needs of the project; i also have to choose a lot of the restrictions, like: ¿do i use lines and/or lighting, what texture and width do lines have, how do eyes look like, how are heads shaped, how saturated are the colors, how do limbs move?, and many more.
i can't choose a visual style, but i must choose the restrictions and then the visual style just comes.
ngl this is sooo valid, i really love ppl who has the ability to animate stuff in many and vast art styles like dangggg how do u do that

I always go through these art style phases. I’ve gone through, anime, Lavendertowne, currently Apselene, and some drawings just look really similar to other artists’ styles.
Sometimes it takes a lifetime to find an art style that you can draw consistently as well, I love that you constantly change your style

I think it’s pretty unique for you to keep changing your art style. Not a lot of animators I know about stray from their own style of drawing. I think what I’m saying is that animating in different styles not only helps you adapt to other animation styles depending on how you want your characters to move around, it also shows that you don’t have to be restricted to just one art style. Again, not a lot of animators I know have gone out of their comfort zones to write in a completely different style like you do. I admire that. Even though I’m not an artist and what I’m saying might not make sense, but I hope I made you feel happy today.

This is actually inspirational. Because, i struggle to find an “art style” and i keep trying to only do a certain art style, and thinking about “i shouldnt like that art style” or “i should like this art bc of jrjdjehbd” when in reality it’s okay to try different styles and find what you like, and no one is forcing you to like one thing and dislike another. After all it’s just art and everyone has their own opinions about art. Domics actually talked on the subject of liking things in one of his vids and if you need advice his vid is good it’s called “liking things” so it’s good to check out.
