I tend to shy away from shows that feature bipolar disorder. They all tend to portray in a very binary way -- people are either on their meds and fine or off their meds and "crazy." There is a lot more nuance to the disorder than the media portrays, and a lot of different treatment options and coping strategies out there. I enjoyed this show, but its portrayal of bipolar disorder is problematic.
@@bysarahalexander4426 100% I thought that I was crazy when I was diagnosed because of things like mixed episodes and low distress tolerance. All because I'd never seen anything other than type 1 mania portrayed to the max in media. I thought oh yeah type 2 is being shown, this is great. Yeah no of course we're still crazy and dangerous. I think Ian on shameless U.S. is the only 3d look at bipolar I've seen on a show. They show that he can be completely fine on medication and he knows what to watch out for. Also, Euphoria does a good job but it's a background thing. Sorry for this long ass reply, I'm just really passionate about this. I was misdiagnosed for a long time because I didn't match up to what I saw in media.
Also, to anyone out there, you do not need to disclose. You are not crazy, you are not guilty of anything and you are just as valuable as those around you.
Yeah, it's not all numb from meds or nutso. It's being impulsive and blaming it one others, it's feeling tired for no reason, it's going a week fine, and then crashing, or going on a high and regretting that coffee you had in the morning because it hasnt worn off and it's making you dizzy. But then sometimes you'll be normal, for ages.
I love that she seemed to make the message specific to the people that she loved and cared about. Carol makes it out to be like a death sentence for her but I think she's starting to figure out that it's not and I think Justin and Dasha are helping her through that. Serena also doesn't help matters I think she's a spoiled little b**** sorry but after everything Kat's done for her you think she'd be more grateful. I understand she's a teenager but still, it's not like they have a mom. Kat's the one who's been holding that family together. I'm kind of wanting Justin as their relationship develops to be like hey we need to change this in order to make you better. I really don't think Justin isn't going to put up with Carol. He is protective of Kat right now when he gets more involved think he's going to step up. I would say Kats done an amazing job compared to Carol she doesn't let it control her life like Carol does. I've always said that there's a lot of comparisons between her and Carol but you can see how different they are and how much better person she is. Kat is kind, loving and put the people she cares about first. I can't wait till the new network picks up the show for a second season.

@@rickmorty2244 well obviously I would have done so had my friend mentioned what network it was given the covid thing maybe they change their mind or we'll just have to wait longer. I was just excited that it was even being picked up again. And a lot of people don't like the same stuff I do we're family and friends are concerned. I have told them about it as well.

Gotta love how this show makes Bipolar Disorder sufferers seem dangerous or like they have to disclose.
