I don’t know how I’ve never found your channel before! Great recommendations. I just found a copy of the Haar and I’ve never heard anything about it. It just looked cool so I grabbed it. Great to hear it’s worth the read. Thank you! Congrats on 2k!!
Whoooo congrats on 2k! So well deserved :) I love these recommendations a great collection of ones I've read, some that I've heard of, and a few brand new ones- so fun and just the perfect collection for spooky season! 🎃🎃🎃
Thank you so much 🥰 I tried to recommend a mix of books, so hopefully there is something for everyone and not just the really popular ones. I'm so excited for spooky season! 👻🧡
I know its divisive, but I really loved Nothing But Blackened Teeth, by Cassandra Khaw. It follows a group of friends who have a lot of dramatic history together, and some strained relationships gathering in a house to tell ghost stories, following a cultural tradition. A very interesting, spooky, and short read! And its nice to see some eastern asian representation in horror instead of the usual american and european that is so common in this genre.
Interesting - I've heard mixed things about that one but you make it sound really good! I might have to try and squeeze it into my ever growing TBR. Thanks for the recommendation 🧡
Congrats on 2k! oooh, just added you let me in to my kindle (it is on kindle unlimited!) Thanks for making me aware of this one. The Haar is one of my favorite reads of the year so far!
Congrats on hitting 2K, that is awesome! Thank you for the recommendations. I have really been getting into folk horror lately and some of these books definitely give off those vibes. Lure sounds very intriguing, added to my tbr. Sorry, unpopular opinion but I enjoyed We Have Always Lived In The Castle way more then Haunting Of Hill House. Reviewed and gave it 5 stars. I've just had a live chat with John about David Sodergren, definitely one of my new favorite authors. Great video!
Thank you so much! I've also been getting into Folk Horror this year and have enjoyed everything I've read so far. I think it's going to be a new favorite sub-genre of horror. Oh interesting, I haven't read "We Have Always Lived In The Castle", but it is on my TBR. I hope I enjoy it as much as you! Yes, I watched your live stream with John 😊 You had some really interesting discussions. I need to read more from David Sodergren! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Hey Ellie, you covered some great books and what a perfect way to finish the video, everyone who likes horror should read The Haar. A couple of my favourite shorter horror stories are The Pram by Joe Hill and The Wehrwolf by Alma Katsu which has a fantastic audiobook. Wonderful video as always, take care 🙂
Yes! The Haar is fantastic. Thanks for the recommendations. I've actually been looking for a good audiobook, so I'll check out "The Werewolf" Thanks for watching 🧡
It was a fun novella. Cottagecore and horror... who knew those two things could work together! Thanks for the recommendation. I do love strange books 😆
I hope you enjoy horror if you do give it a try. I also recommend the authors Grandy Hendrix and T Kingfisher because they use a lot of humor in their horror books which makes them less scary! Thanks for watching and commenting 🧡

I recommend The Strangers by Taichi Yamada and Come Closer by Sara Gran.
Thanks for the recommendation 😊🧡
My favorite short horror story is "A Short Stay in Hell" by Steven L. Peck. 🥰
Ooh I haven't read that one. I'll have to look it up! Thank you 😊
Bloom has to be good. Just look at that cover! I highly recommend Strega. It's not horror, just very strange. It reminds me of the film Suspiria.
It was a fun novella. Cottagecore and horror... who knew those two things could work together!
Thanks for the recommendation. I do love strange books 😆
I haven’t tried Horror yet but maybe I’ll start with a short book. I’m a scaredy cat.
