@Butterfly Moon It requires round the clock observation and care. My father started cooking Cans on the stove after he opened them. He forgot about using a pot! It almost started a kitchen fire! 🔥 My mother started becoming forgetful and did start a Grease fire 🔥 on the Stove! And the kitchen Wall was starting to smoke! I barely succeeded in shutting off the Stove and diffusing the situation. And it’s a minor miracle, I didn’t burn 🔥 my forearms badly. The coils were glowing bright orange. It was getting out of hand and I panicked. We almost had to run out and call the Fire 🔥 Department. But by the time they would show up, half the house would be burning down. So we really dodged a bullet! But just barely! So I know all about the dangers of mental confusion and forgetfulness! It’s horrible!
@Delise I do too! I have experience with Dementia from my father and forgetfulness from my mother. My mother was cooking and went to watch TV and forgot about the stove. It started a kitchen grease fire 🔥 that almost burned the house down. I barely succeeded in shutting off the stove and the handles melted and burned. It’s a minor miracle that I didn’t get third degree burns on my forearms when I shut the stove off. The kitchen wall was starting to burn. 🔥 But then it calmed down and we had to open the windows and doors to get the smoke out. Then I painted the kitchen walls over later on. It was a scary experience and we almost had to run outside to get away.
John is about my age, '58 vintage and the 1960's is when we were kids, life was definitely more organic and raw then, but you managed to enjoy yourself in a way not available today.
I’ve loved this guy since the 70s. He says it how he sees it which what more people could do nowadays. Some people don’t realise how intelligent and articulate he really is, plus his sense of his humour is infectious. I’ve lived a rebellious life since thanks in part to Mr “Rotton” ❤️
I come from the Caribbean islands. I am into reggae from that time John Lydon is talking about. Reggae is my favourite music genre. I know those record shops in Finsbury Park and the Rainbow Theatre. I saw the famous Bill Grundy show with the pistols. I wasn’t a Punk but I just like to listen to John Lyndon in conversation talking about that history.
He IS punk rock.... a total individual man... back in the day I thought he just hated everything, which to me as a young rebellious teen was fantastic...... over the years I learned much more about him, he has such a quirky, broad, open view on music.... he had such a humble but interesting upbringing....& all the rest. When he formed PiL it was a revelation to me. I could go on & on & ON about him...... bless his lovely soul❤ thankfully I had the privilege of seeing PiL playing live a few years ago, great gig, good times..... xxx
Bollocks was straight punk rock to me and their sound was unmatchable. John’s lyrics and delivery were pure snot, Jones had the tone and Cooky in particular being a life long influence in the area of drum work. Brilliant stuff really.
THE BEST FRONTMAN OF ALL TIME!! There is nobody that even comes close to Johnny's stage presence. He is by far the most interesting and intelligent musician of our generation. If there was ever a musician that I would love to meet and discuss history and conspiracy with it would be Johnny. He truly knows what he's talking about and he is no nonsense.
What a caring gentleman John is, most people couldn't cope with someone with altzimers, shows how much he loves his wife, I've still got pil metal box, never mind the bollocks, still play them, your a good man John, heart of gold, ✊👍
How could you not like John Lydon, he's the real deal, what you see is what you get. He broke the mould with the pistols back in the 70s and was treated with contempt by the establishment who in actual fact were the frauds.... John Challenged the b+s and gave young the confidence to express themselves. He never pretended that they were brilliant artists but instead challenged what was perceived to be artistic. Always remained true to himself and always entertaining ..... his contribution to music and culture is very much underrated.
First time Ive seen John so relaxed and respectful in a long time, usually every interview I see hes scowling at the interviewer or at the other guests haha
I've never had much time for John until now. What a great interview! Fascinating to listen to his early influences. My heart goes out to him amd his wife. Dementia is a very challenging condition to live with.

Brilliant! Saw PIL in the early 80's and Pistols on all reunions bud sadly slightly too young in 76/77. He IS Punk Rock and totally addictive. Really nice person and although he is anti the forthcoming Pistol series I am looking forward to it. I saw him on the recent "evening with" tour in Clacton and was not at all disappointed. Johnny Rotten is a genius!!
That was 35 minutes of my life that was thoroughly enjoyable. John is one of life's delights and his frankness and sheer honesty is totally refreshing in a world full of spiders and snakes. Surely the word "original" was created for this man... I loved his reference to Quintessence. Saw them I think at the old Green's Playhouse in Glasgow in the early '70s. I thought they were taking an awful long time to tune up, until it dawned on me that, "Holy crap, this is it..." Haha! :))
I could listen to John Lydon for hours .... and in fact I have and enjoying it. He is so interesting and a great sense of humour. I would love to see his album collection.
I was 14 in 1977 and I grew up in Nottingham and my older sister went out with the first punk in the city. He gave me tapes which I put on my tape recorder and pressed to my ear. I fell in love with the Bollocks album, and sincerely it changed my life. 40 years later I work in innovation, education and Africa and India and beyond, and I use the punk ethos to break down barriers to new thinking in totally different environments. I even mentioned the book "Anger is an Energy" to group of Tanzanian school children, as a must read or at least understand a couple of years ago. Thanks Johnny. I owe you one!!!
It all becomes clearer, those who were around in the mid '70's how the establishment were clearly becoming rattled by the SXP'S, John Lydon is sensitive and honest despite the on stage persona which to many appeared at the time to be threatening and antagonistic... many more should listen to this man and be pleasantly surprised.
Quite easily one of my fav artists. He was so far ahead of the curve when he came onto the scene, changing music 4 times with his first 4 albums. From Nevermind the Bollocks to Flowers of Romance. Still wish we could’ve heard Commercial Zone as intended but still enjoyed This is What You Want. Even his mid 80s-early 90s albums were solid (album being the highlight in that bunch), and his solo record being highly under appreciated. The 2 modern PiL albums are also awesome too. Highly recommend his books as well.
John's vocals and lyrics on Bollocks are fierce and poetic. No way was he doing it just to get laid. I get sad when they ask Steve about the Pistols and all he talks about is the # of birds he shagged back then. Whatever - Bollocks is still one of the greatest albums of all time.
He's looking great! He's also a wonderful human being and one of our best poets as far as I'm concerned. Anger is an energy: the best thing I ever heard when I was a kid in the early 80s. I was already angry - didn't know why, but that song sort of focused it in some way. It turned the name of an energy I was feeling - anger (or maybe puberty ;) - into something else, something more constructive or just more connected to thought maybe. I really can't explain it, but I've always been grateful to him. And God bless him for being so devoted to his wife on her final journey. Would that all of us could be so damn lucky in our final years.
What a dude! Absolutely every single interview he has ever done is a pleasure to watch. Every. Single. One! Also, love Johnny for how much he loves German band Can (The Can).
He was always good with words I had a shop called Smutz in the world's end but got a bit carried away with eastern products! I saw John in the supermarket in the world s end, he picked up a frozen chicken and staring at me said,"food for thought" all these years later I am still thinking. Great to hear Bruce Smith is drumming, Southampton will be good.
I'm not even a Pistols/PiL fan but love his interviews and the fact he was married to Nora for so long and adored and cared for her the way he did is so admirable.
Bless Jon for being such a devoted carer for Nora combined with his archetypal contribution to punk rock, refreshingly blunt anecdotes & for being our most prized English eccentric & national treasure...😎
John Lydon a great Arsenal supporter (supporting the local team). I was born in the Chelsea area, then the family moved to London East close to West Ham FC. However, Arsenal supported my sporting projects when I was young. On a serious a note, looking after a spouse with Alzheimer's during the pandemic (my heart goes out to him).
One evening in Laurel Canyon, Ca just before Public Image Ltd was to perform at the Olympic Auditorium John and my little Danish grandmother were sitting in front of the our fireplace drinking tea. Grandma had no idea who he was and said she just wanted to comb his hair. He couldn't have been lovelier. The most surreal moment of my life.
The Sex Pistols 🔫 crashed into my 15 year old life like a fucking ROCKET 🚀 & Lydon's searingly intelligent 'social commentary' lyrics sung with such sarcastic bliss - will never be forgotten ! As relevant today as ever. Beautiful. No group will get near Never Mind The Bollocks. Best album ever made imo. Not everyone will agree but it's how I feel. Cheers.
Two days ago I had a bit of an argument with the missis, when I stated that NMTB was as important an artistic statement as 'The Velvet Underground & Nico' - too many parallels for a comparison not to be drawn. She initially baulked at my suggestion... five minutes (and a few persuasive arguments) later she was in agreement. p.s. Listened to Kendrick's new album last night, middle of the night... now that boy is a fine poet!
I was 14 when a school mate took me along to Leicester Square to see a band, second one I’d ever seen. We watched a line of the strangest people I’d ever seen, by miles, troop on into the church hall. Then the bouncer on the door called out to us, “you coming in lads? It’s free.” Johnny strolled onto the stage and said “hello c***s.” And I watched in disbelief as the world changed in front of me.
The more I see and here from Johnny the better he gets I've watched the pistols series .but can't stop thinking how much better it would have been with John's input great guy

My father started cooking Cans on the stove after he opened them. He forgot about using a pot! It almost started a kitchen fire! 🔥
My mother started becoming forgetful and did start a Grease fire 🔥 on the Stove!
But then it calmed down and we had to open the windows and doors to get the smoke out.
One of the few musical artists I genuinely have a real love for. A refreshing banter.
Fantastic interview. Thanks for those first three albums John (in particular)
I could go on & on & ON about him...... bless his lovely soul❤ thankfully I had the privilege of seeing PiL playing live a few years ago, great gig, good times..... xxx
Punk….. 🤔 The pistols were really a 70’s pub rock band with trendy street clothes…. The production and musicianship was too good for DIY punk
He truly knows what he's talking about and he is no nonsense.
here here 🥳🥳
Love you John...Great human being...Brash but honest.,..It took years to understand you....thank god we did...
fantastuc interview. my admiration for John increases every time I hear him speak
I could listen to John all day. Such a charismatic, intelligent, fun and top, top bloke.
Always an interesting and very honest interview when John Lydon is involved.
Love him forever and ever, great man, absolute musical hero and a big big heart
First time Ive seen John so relaxed and respectful in a long time, usually every interview I see hes scowling at the interviewer or at the other guests haha
Johnny is such a smart guy with integrity.I also love his vocals. He has an unconventional voice but it is full of character, passion and intensity.
I've never had much time for John until now. What a great interview! Fascinating to listen to his early influences. My heart goes out to him amd his wife. Dementia is a very challenging condition to live with.
Wooo thanks a bunch for this interview 😊 I absolutely adore Lydon. I could listen to him all day! Always waiting for a new one to pop up. Great conversation, guys, easy flow. 👌
Total Love, Respect, and SUPPORT to John Lydon ! YOU ARE THE FUEL !!
Have memories of tramping through snow to the outside toilet in the middle night. Tilley lamp burning to stop the cistern from freezing. The joys of living in Camden during the 50's and 60's.
John lydon ,my mum had alzimers disease, to see a loved one go from the head of my family to a bed stricken feeble old lady ,was to much to bear ,you are staying with your wife .....my upmost respect to you sir 👍
My mum lost her fight for life in 2019 ,gone but Never forgotten.
Love you mum .
Peace out ,respect ✌
Absolutely brilliant .....John you are a true legend, you are honest, funny and in my book a national treasure ...you take care :-)
Brilliant guitarist. God bless that John knew what he wanted and got the band he wanted. And on the day it is what it is. Much Love ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Nice interview. Seems at peace
John, you are a true human being in the strongest sense of the word. Love to you and yours. Stay strong.
I could listen to John Lydon for hours .... and in fact I have and enjoying it. He is so interesting and a great sense of humour. I would love to see his album collection.
One of my 3 or 4 favorite artists of all time, can't wait to see what PiL will come up with
The man I could listen too all day. Thanks for this lads.
This wasn’t long enough we need a part two.
I could listen to John talk for ages X so interesting and funny too💜wish him and Nora all the best🙏
It’s rock n roll m8…. Don’t take it too seriously….. Steve just enjoyed himself
'Not so bad after all' - a brilliant way to finish. Nicely interviewed.
Johnny, please play in the US! I want to see you again with PIL.
With you all the way John, can't wait to see you guys!
I'm not even a Pistols/PiL fan but love his interviews and the fact he was married to Nora for so long and adored and cared for her the way he did is so admirable.
I love John Lydon and I wish him and his wife all the best ! Great amazing person , love from Portugal.
Absolutely love johns taste in music.
I have those lp records too😊
A very insightful and naturally flowing interview. Well done all involved.
John has a fantastic eclectic taste in music, A great raconteur as well. Excellent interview chaps.
I love how after every one of John's talking points he finishes with a moral of the story statement.
Happy days!
Totally agree but people like or dislike and that's anything in general
Public Image by PIL is a brilliant song too, excellent music and lyrics.
The gift gods given us...Such a man of integrity and wisdom. People talk a lot about this sort of stoic stuff and never live up to it but Lydon does.
A very witty guy is John and has always spoke his mind, love the way he has always had zero tolerance for bullshitters..this was a great interview!
He'd be a shoe in for Pirates of the Carribean or Harry Potter :)
The more I see and here from Johnny the better he gets I've watched the pistols series .but can't stop thinking how much better it would have been with John's input great guy
Now a redo of Cliff Richard’s devil woman as a duet with John would be defo interesting!!
this is so genuine
totally not scripted
owning my own clothing in 1970s london
shopping records, buying clothing, live performances
being named john in uk naming system in the 70s brilliant!
I could listen to him talk forever!
Very interesting interview, looking forward to seeing P.I.L. in Leeds in June.
Great interview. Very interesting to hear John's recollection about Holloway and Finsbury park, I too was born there. Great man.
May the roads rise with you forever, Johnny.
