    i always said fuel consumption is depending on horse power, transmission, rear end gear ratio, weight being pulled , plus speed, old saying big horse power -means big fuel bills,, tall gear , tall RPM , heavy load, heavy fuel,, tall mountain, tall fuel bill, little hill, little fuel,, get my drift,, a friend of mine told me once before a 20% dead head is not a bad dead head ,so if you run 2ths miles loaded a 400 mile deadhead is not bad,, so if you run west look to run at least 400 or a little better to get you a better paying load

      Man, you couldn't pay me enough money to run a Paccar branded piece of equipment. I used to work on trucks before I went driving them. Paccar is one of the worst for poor engineering design choices, and problems because of said design choices.

    63mph cruseeeee controll

  • @JosephArata
    @JosephArata Рік тому +2

    Doing 65 MPH instead of 70-75 MPH does effect your fuel cost, substantially. Even 60 MPH in the Midwest on flat country roads actually can save you time/miles. Great example is the interstate road construction in IL and IN.

    • @JosephArata
      @JosephArata Рік тому +1

      @@mattbuchholz6837 If any of your miles include Appalachian or Ozark mountain mileage, you can expect to get less mileage regardless of speed. Pulling uphill even not loaded 76k+ effects fuel mileage. It's just less noticeable the lower your GCVW. That's why there's all these LTL wackos doing 75 MPH in the mountains downhill and 68 uphill. Most of them are running 30,000 LBS or less in their trailers so it's like they're not even loaded. Heaviest I've been is 78,600ish and Climbing the Appalachians in either WV, VA, or TN is like a 30-35 MPH ordeal for me going uphill in 8th or 9th with the DT12 trans and DD13 400 HP rating. I average about 6.5-6.7 if they have me haul heavy through the Appalachians.
