So Chris Perkins from WOTC pronounces "Zhentarim" the same way as I do, while the game and some other more official type sources do not. What is the verdict here?! I really like your lore videos. Say here's a video idea: I'm really starting to get into the D&D lore because of your videos, so why not make a video about which books to buy and read in order (narrative driven books, notrule books)?
I've always found it interesting how one can read novels and assume your own pronunciation on a name like Zhentarim and then meet other people to talk about it later and discover they've a different interpretation.
I'll have to watch this later, but I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving, you all get to spend it with your favorite people, and there's lots of good food 🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃🦃
Always been a big fan of Shadowdale and always ran campaigns in Dale lands that usually ended up in Myth Drannor. You should make a video on the Harpers.
Thanks, Wolf! Just if you are going to make a video on the Harpers at some point, I think it's important to mention that some central characters in BG1&2 (as well in some other D&D based games and more) were actual members of the Harpers Happy Thanksgiving
My BG3 character will be a Dwarf Paladin of Bane, and you just gave me the perfect backstory: A former Zhentarim agent who was cast out following the Banedeath. Timeline wise it could make sense as the banedeath is in 1361 DR and BG3 is set in 1492 DR, and dwarves can become at least 350 years old.
BG3 is in 1494 because it has been established that Descent Into Avernus is a prequel to BG3 and is set in 1494, otherwise BG3 would be the prequel instead.
That was pretty good, I knew a lot about them since they have been in so many DND CRPGs they are the most interesting of the factions to me even if as a player I tend to be drawn more to the Lord's Alliance. Still really cool.
They did and it was called the Manshoon Wars. This occurred after Manshoon had lost control of the Zhentarim for good. Didn’t have much of an affect on the organization itself.
I think the pronunciation differs on localisation. Brits would say Zen-ta-rim. Americans might say Zen-tar-im. So I don't think there is a defined right & wrong. Also I think in the game some voice actors also say "Ze-hen-ta-rim, pronouncing possibly silent H. I've noticed across multiple titles that voice actors are often given the liberty to pronounce words however they read them regardless of how it's properly spoken. It gives a sense of authenticity to each individual by how accents change on locale. (Actually Brits would say Zen-tar-im too if they were of the southern, posh persuasion lol)
is AOC even going to come out :) No offence to the devs, I'm sure they wanted to do what EQNext wanted, but i fear they ove extended their capacity. In short I'm not even sure that sunch an MMO woul be playable on modern systems. As for the lore video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ / ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Now tell us about the Red wizards , the pricks that took in "interns" from Earth
Verify with WOTC. So you edit and redo Segments or the Whole 9 Minutes. Minor Efforts to be "The" Informed Authority on this RPG for PC/Console/Tabletop Players.
Chris Perkins pronounces Zhentarim the same way as I do, while the game and some other more official sources do not. This makes it fairly confusing. WOTC is not always consistent themselves. "Minor efforts" is not really the best word choice here. I spend tremendous amounts of time and effort on these types of videos, and changing something like this (a pronunciation) would have required me to redo the entire voice over, which then leads to having to redo the visuals, animations etc. For some perspective, I typically spend 10 plus hours of time on videos in the lore category and if I am lucky I will get $20 in return and a handful of subscribers (this is my livelihood). I do appreciate all of your support on the channel! but I wanted to respond to this and make it clear that I didn't simply shy away from having to give some extra effort here, there's more to it than that.

You too!
Wait let me bring my mug of tea, cause I love tea and WolfheartFPS' videos ;)
Hahah love this
Ohhh these guys are the gangstas! Gotchya! Mahalo!
Played the original Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale. You have me so hyped for this game! Thanks for all of the videos.
Awesome! & thanks great to hear.
I’ve been saying “zen-TAR-im” for as long as I’ve been playing. It’s fine.
It seems as if Chris Perkins from Wizard of the Coast does too, so maybe I will continue with my old ways haha

Harpers might be next up in the series! We don’t encounter them as NPCs in early access but there’s evidence of their presence all over the game
Another great Lore video. Thanks, man.
Thanks for watching Brandon!
Great video! Can't wait to hear what you have to say about Ashes of Creation, Wolf!

Good idea thanks Darken!

Definitely very interesting
Appreciate these law videos mate please keep'em coming!
Will do thanks!
Well I've always pronounced it the way you did, but I never really thought about it.
It might actually be correct or just simply not matter. There actually seems to be some official sources that are undecided themselves.
I discovered this channel through the rose vocal cover you made.
Damn man that’s awesome. That was like 8 years ago hahaha
Zhent said like sent just with a z.
Tar like tar, the black stuff.
Imm.
Zhentarim.
Love your lore videos.
Thanks Plesch!
Thought all the clones had a mass battle as they all feel hatred for each other?
They did and it was called the Manshoon Wars. This occurred after Manshoon had lost control of the Zhentarim for good. Didn’t have much of an affect on the organization itself.
So much lore!
It's too late! Haha, love these videos. Thank you.
I am looking forward to ashes of creation

Happy thanksgiving
Zhents for life
hell yeah
Hey, thanks a lot for these lore videos. Do you think you could make one on the society of Brilliance?
Good idea! Thanks for watching.
Your pronunciation is the same as my gaming group's pronunciation. So keep it.
Haha ok well I think I am going to keep it. It seems like many of the official sources for D&D are not even consistent in their pronunciations 😂
I always say Zintar-im
Do you write books?
