Thank you so much thus was very helpful. I didnt know whether i could switch through presets with a double tap tempo button, that being the only sticking point for me. I’m completely sold on it now.
*edit* at 9:31, the Insert Position is the other way around - Pre and Post describe the placement of the amp in relation to the HX One, not the HX One in relation to the amp. Put your Drives on Post and your Delays on Pre.
Thank you for the clarification. I still struggle to understand how to save presets pre or post. It would be really stupid if one must decide where to use the HX One within the signal chain and this choice could not be made on preset level.
@@laszloszecsenyi9677 Some of the settings in the menu automatically save on a preset level - if you look in the Settings View Options in the manual, you can see whether the setting is applied Per Preset or Global. Input Gate, Impedance, and Pre/Post are going to automatically save with your preset, pretty much everything else is global. This means that pre/post will stick to whatever you had it assigned to when you saved the preset.
I saved a modified comp in the 001 spot, vital distortion.. the name I chose sticks when I go to presets but when I select it, it comes with some random distortion widths distortion parameters not the Comp. I will return this if I can’t save my edits. Thanks for this video. Helped a lot with learning about the pedal
Pretty much - everything the M5 can do is built into this unit, but it's also been expanded in pretty much every direction, save for the physical size.
very fine and detailed summary of the manual. Well done! One question: can I use the on/off button as a momentary switch, for example to use the tremolo only the the switch is pressed?
I'm trying to save a model called 'Rez Synth' as a preset, but this isn't possible. Why is that? When I hit save it shows a different preset (In my case Muntant Filter 005)
One thing I can’t seem to find anywhere online, will it send midi clock messages to other pedals without the use of an external controller like the other helix models? For example, can I use the tap on the hx one to set the midi clock for my timeline?
MIDI Clock isn't something I've messed around with, but the Owner's Manual says the following: HX One does not transmit MIDI for any of its own actions, but will pass incoming MIDI control and MIDI Clock out via its MIDI OUT/THRU and USB MIDI ports.
Hello Kai. I have one of these on order at present. Would you be able to advise if the Flux feature can be used to change an octave up to an octave down, when using the octave? Thanks. Phil
It can! Flux can control any parameter - I would recommend using a “Wham” block for this so that the sweep is smoother, if you do it with the regular pitch blocks it’ll step through in semitones
I'm curious if the midi in and out can be run into the Stomp and used as a normal block in the chain. This way it would allow for different presets to go right into different effects on the unit.
Stomp automatically sends preset change messages - if you switch to the 5th preset on Stomp, it’ll switch to the 5th preset on the HX One too. Just gotta set up the order of your presets to sync between the two units
The PC app can’t edit the parameters or the choice of effects - it’s essentially just a list of presets, which you can rename, import, export, backup and reorder
is it possible to determine min and max values for parameters to control with an expression pedal? just like you control the bar underneath the knobs on the eventide h9
Thanks for the overview Kai. Did you mention that the stock presets have to be over written to save eg a user defined effect parameter and that the PC app cannot be used to edit effect parameters? Cheers
I did mention that there are no user slots by default and that you need to overwrite the Factory Presets, but I didn't cover the Line 6 Librarian app. It's true that it can't be use to tweak parameters or settings for effects, though you are able to rename, reorder, import and export presets from the Librarian.
@@keithb5612 I think I've just figured out why there's no empty slots - since it's a single effect unit, there is no option to load a blank block. Therefore, all of the "Blank" presets would still have some effect loaded onto them. I do think I'd like a desktop editor, especially for batching presets into pre/post for the 4CM routing.
The modern Line 6 M5 - I like the functions, i like the form factor but the price makes it uninteresting. If it was 100-150, I'd say it's a must for every pedal board.

I need to repeat to myself, I don't need this pedal 😅
Oh, just wait until the review 🤯
You dont for over 300 bucks you should be able to use multiple FX in one preset. What a waste of money this is

Hi thank you very much for this informative video! I was jsut wondering does this pedal have preset strat model sounds ? thank you!

Unfortunately not, I would’ve loved that though!

Can anyone run that damned line 6 central? I get an error asking me to not run it with administrator privileges, but I'm not, which is weird! Help?

Would this work for djng mixing? BPM detection?
Can I combine gate and some effect or it allows only on “pedal” to be used at the same time?
There's a noise gate in the global settings, this can work with any other effect
How do I use headphones
Since the HX One doesn’t simulate amps and cabinets, you’ll want to grab a device capable that does, and plug the headphones into that instead
Nice video, cheers. Don't suppose you came across a momentary footswitch setting?
There isn’t one, at least not at launch. Really hoping they add it

Is this only possible with the HX family? I have an Ampero 2 Stage and my HX One is about to arrive. Thanks :)
Out of curiosity can the PC app be used to organize and edit the effects/parameters/pedal settings?
The PC app can’t edit the parameters or the choice of effects - it’s essentially just a list of presets, which you can rename, import, export, backup and reorder
One effect at a time? No drive+delay+rev, for example?
That’s correct

Yes you can, sort of.. You'll have to assign the min and max values as your Flux control, and use the expression pedal to sweep the Flux.

You need to calculate for inflation - the M5 launched at £170 in 2011, which is £238 in today's money. The two units sit around the same price.
