SUPER IMPORTANT UPDATE. I lowered the monitors an inch and raised the print an inch and a half. I can now see the whole thing when I'm sitting at my desk. Crisis averted.
No yelling/fast talking, crazy edits, text everywhere and yet this is an extremely entertaining video. Love your work Nick. One day I will have one of your prints hanging on my wall. Keep it up 🤘🏽
two of my favorite folder collection in youtube, one is called ''photography'' where i add photography videos, and another folder called ''funny'', i usually add your videos to both 😂😂👍👍
Just a normal guy making prints that you just want to look and stare at. It makes you feel that what you are doing is exactly what you should be doing. Love it man, great job!
i can't believe that every time you pint one of your photos to hang on your walls, i get just as much excited as you, IF NOT MORE. unbelievable tnx for the great videos man you have no idea what you mean to us around the world
I made a book a few years ago with a bunch of images I took in three days and it's one of my favorite projects. The images were fun to take (if you want enough photos to fill a book in three days you have to abandon any sense of perfectionism) and the book was really satisfying to put together.
I noticed some Polaroids on your desk in this video. I don't know if you'd find this interesting or not Nick but last week, while going through a box of old photos I came across one I'd taken with the original Polaroid SX-70 at their introduction/training event in LA making that photo (I believe) 50 years old this year. Polaroid had set up different subjects to shoot. I picked a bowl of fruit and some beaded jewelry. The fruit image showed colors that are still saturated with brilliant yellows and reds with deep blacks.
prints are where they are at!!! never did digi my whole life but now that I can do digi negs and make darkroom prints...I AM ALL IN...got to love prints!! Thanks for sharing.
every time i see one of your vids about printing i'm telling myself that now is the right time to finally install my printer. NOW really is the time though. :D
As a person who just had twins in December 2022, I appreciate the *cough* analogy *clears throat*. Thanks for the entertainment today. I was thinking about this photo over the weekend, and now another video of yours featuring this photo. I'm all about this photo. I watched the video of you taking it, and I've still got questions. Thank you.
Nick, this is my Saturday morning routine: turn on my capuchino machine make me a Latte, sit down in front of my computer and watch your video, weekend accomplished! Thanks. I have the same problem with too many photos and a few walls... My plan is to print 4 of my super favorites photos, hang one on the wall, and then when the next season comes, I will take down the print, and store it, put the next print on the wall. Then every season I'll have something different on the wall. (BTW, those 2 photos in this video are my favorites)
I just picked up a used Canon ip6820 printer for $40 because I wanted a printer again, as I miss what you describe. Can't print anything that size, but it will print up to 13x19 borderless. What you said, makes me realize I made the right decision. Buying a used printer is definitely risky, but it worked out fantastic, as it printed with no issues after just one cleaning run. Came with a new complete set of Canon ink, worth more than what I paid for the printer. Yee haw!
I just so connected to what you’re saying at the end of the video, seeing a print of your own work is just satisfying. It is so satisfying I invested a 44inch pigment printer at home. And just sharing my prints with my friends. My work is just not meet the standards to sell😂 but still, just so satisfying. Love your work! Another great frame 🖼️
UA-cam gets me. New Nick Carver video? Top of the list in the app. “Why, yes, UA-cam, I do in fact want to watch this video before finishing that Thomas Heston video. Thanks for asking.”
Absolutely love these photo to print to hanging on the wall videos. Useful, informative and entertaining segment and an absolutely Gorgeous photograph and Sumptuous print. Beautifully done.
I love that photo! I prefer the matte finish too. You've got a lovely studio. I caught a glimpse of some oranges in the background in one shot. That's really cool that you have your own mature fruit trees.
WOW. I'll stick with your last comment, “ Go get yourself some prints... you need it and you don't even know it..“ You make me remember why I chose to be a photographer.. I fully agree with Joshua Rhea's comment about it's a good day. Saludos desde Mexico City.
Lovely work Nick. That image, printed, is (makes that French-style 2 finger kiss thing) sweet. I second what you say about getting prints made - it's the ultimate proof of the pudding, and so damn satisfying to see your best work writ large.
Hey Chris I love watching your videos on my TV. When you display the print image you should use a 15% gray background instead of white to better see the image. Even though the white border is not that prominent it can impact the way your eye sees color. When viewing images, it’s always best to look at them against a neutral gray background. Thx Nick.
You just gave us a clinic, Nick. Outstanding... and the French "Je ne sais quoi" aptly descibes that indescribable feeling you captured near video’s end, however briefly it remains. As good as the original video was when you shot the image, this was icing on the cake. Thank you.
I'm old enough (70) to remember when Kornelius started to pin his panorama's to the store's walls. I saw his printing business grow and grow. His shop is still there while dozens of others in OC bit the dust. I think his store must be coming up on it's silver anniversary soon.
Ah, the satisfaction of seeing that final piece. Awesome! Thanks for that great tip on applying the lustre lamination. I love pearl paper, yet really hate the glare that can distract from the viewing experience.
I love seeing my images printed too. I recently bought a Canon pro 200 to start printing my images, that's gonna get interesting (and expensive). I always appreciate you videos, thanks for making them.
Always a good day when you post. I totally agree with you about printing. Blessed to have a bessler 45 beast of an enlightener chilling in the basement
I went on a road trip across the US with my brother (Miami to Seattle). I got a 4X6 photoalubum made up and it's one of my prized possessions. Seeing you do a proper book would be amazing
Loving your videos Nick. About to plunge into making prints, too, so inspired. And as I'm in OC, will use your recommended vendors/partners. Enjoyed the shoot video of this print, too.
100% agree with you about making prints, it is my favorite part of the process too - I can loose days in the darkroom working on just one or two large prints. Phones and computer screens are awesome of course but nothing like a massive physical print!
Very very enjoyable video Nick -it’s your fault I’m going to perches your model 6x17 camera you have taken many great photos but the other one in your office is my favourite.
Great vid Nick. Your enthusiasm and knowledge shine through. Both those prints look amazing and really capture something both simple and complex at the same moment. Thanks for uploading this.
Absolutely phenomenal composition, print, and video documenting the process - loved every second of it and I'm itching to print my own work again now :) Would be great if you could kind of show us the cost as well - I can't imagine this stuff is cheap.
Great video, had some laughs along with it. Unfortunately, I'm not so lucky to have such incredible professional printing services where I live. Looks like that right there is the best of the best. Love the image too, especially printed out at that size.
Love the video and love that process for the big boy. Cracking job. I've been wondering about that framing method for ages now! I'll probably forget again by the time I get around to printing a photo though.
Interesting point about sense of accomplishment with building physical objects vs digital content. Digital creates can be every bit as demanding to produce as a fabricated object, but there is definitely a distinct feeling of having an end result you can physically hold and give to someone else that digital/virtual content doesn't possess.
Pro tip (framer here): put a D-ring on each side of a wide frame like that and skip the wire. Then put two hooks in the wall, spaced apart the same as the D-rings, and it will never tilt or shift on you. Always perfect! You did a nice job cutting down that frame. I have a V-nailer if you need to borrow it. :)
Hi Nick thanks for all your great videos, I'm 72yrs and brought up on film, from 120 roll film to 35mm, much perfare 120 I have an old 6 x 9 ensign 820 one I used in my teens lol, question have you ever used that format, if so could you share
SUPER IMPORTANT UPDATE. I lowered the monitors an inch and raised the print an inch and a half. I can now see the whole thing when I'm sitting at my desk. Crisis averted.
Thank goodness. That was eating my brain.
I could see that coming!
Yep. First thing I wanted to shout was “Too low!”
Thank god, I was talking to you saying 'it's too low!' Love it though man!
I can sleep tonight thank you
No yelling/fast talking, crazy edits, text everywhere and yet this is an extremely entertaining video. Love your work Nick. One day I will have one of your prints hanging on my wall. Keep it up 🤘🏽
Thank you! I may be a little too slow-paced and dry for some folks, but I'm glad a few people are cool with my video styling.
@@nickcarverphoto Not dry at all and so funny that the hardest part was hanging the dang thing!
Never change! Your style is wonderful.
I rarely finish watching that editing style that has become ubiquitous on youtube unfortunately. Agreed, his video production style is great.
The amount of knowledge you just casually drop makes my head hurt. God I’m impressed by you.
two of my favorite folder collection in youtube, one is called ''photography'' where i add photography videos, and another folder called ''funny'', i usually add your videos to both 😂😂👍👍

My God, the technical value of this videos documenting of the many processes, is exactly my thing.
👏 💯
i can't believe that every time you pint one of your photos to hang on your walls, i get just as much excited as you, IF NOT MORE.
unbelievable
tnx for the great videos man you have no idea what you mean to us around the world
I would absolutely adore a Nick Carver photo book!!!!!!
Wow, I had no idea how many steps there are in the film-to-print process! I love seeing how things are made so this was really fascinating!
Love how you turned what could be a very dull topic into a fun, entertaining and informative video. Nice work man
Was not expecting to laugh out loud at a woodworking saw joke coming into this video.
Awesome work!
When I yell "HARBOR" you yell "_________"

Would love to see a scan of that polaroid. Would be cool if you upload it to a photo sharing site for us to see!

Said it a million times, but this is my favourite channel. Never stop!

This image along with " The Liquor Store " are my favourite Nick Carver's photographs.
Beautiful print mate, looks great on the wall. I'm sure we'd all be on board if you put out a book!
Right.
Excellent. A perfect blend of art and entertainment.
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this process!

Not only did I learn a ton, but your personality really comes through in these videos in a way I feel like it didn't used to. Thank you!

Damn this looks amazing! Never saw your youtube channel before and now instantly fell in love with your work. Keep it up man!
Beau travail photographique et d'encadrement, superbe!!!
Brilliant. My self I like the way gloss paper makes the colours look
Nice surrealistic look with these hoppers in the sky 😊
I loved that photo the moment I saw it on the other video! I haven't printed in like a year, nothing like it!
Absolutely love these photo to print to hanging on the wall videos. Useful, informative and entertaining segment and an absolutely Gorgeous photograph and Sumptuous print. Beautifully done.
Watched that while print prepping and I could not agree more. Make prints of your work!
I love that photo! I prefer the matte finish too.
You've got a lovely studio. I caught a glimpse of some oranges in the background in one shot. That's really cool that you have your own mature fruit trees.
Thanks! And yeah that tree is older than me. Makes for fantastic orange juice.
That's a gorgeous print Nick, Love the image, the process and the video, top stuff!
Wow ❤️ amazing, both you and winner 👍 awesome story and cool story... Massive respect to both of you 😀
So true... you gotta print and you don't even know it. Thanks for another great video Nick.

Your Bauer joke sealed the subscription. Very nice info too. Love the subject.
Haha man some people are just made to be in front of the camera. You got the gift. Sick print too. 👌🏻
As soon as I get moved and have the appropriate space, I am ordering that print. Hands down my favorite piece!
Lovely work Nick. That image, printed, is (makes that French-style 2 finger kiss thing) sweet. I second what you say about getting prints made - it's the ultimate proof of the pudding, and so damn satisfying to see your best work writ large.
Thanks for scratching my Nick Carver itch buddy. It was driving me crazy. Beautiful FN print man. I love it.

Beautiful print...thanks for showing the process from start to finish. Wall-mounting tip...try using a french cleat.
I am always inspired watching your videos. The print looks awesome!
BEAUTIFUL! Really love that photo. ❤
I definitely need to print my stuff out. Your vids are inspiring to get my act together thank you!
Phenomenal print. That turned out unbelievably well. You got a mighty fine eye Nick!

Excellent video Nick! I love seeing your process. Thanks for the video.-super funny too as always!

Wow Nick that's a real gem you have there congrats. Please make a book......
I love seeing my images printed too. I recently bought a Canon pro 200 to start printing my images, that's gonna get interesting (and expensive). I always appreciate you videos, thanks for making them.
Beautiful! Love the image, love the framing. This is where great images belong.
Thanks for showing us your process and thoughts about. I learned a lot. Keep them coming. Love the print also.
Thanks for sharing. I learned about printing. Bonus, I remember the video when you made that photo so this finished the story for me.
Always a good day when you post. I totally agree with you about printing. Blessed to have a bessler 45 beast of an enlightener chilling in the basement
beautiful work! really enjoyed to see the process behind it.
One of my VERY favorite recent images/ prints from you. Absolutely stunning.
In my opinion, this photograph may well be your very best yet.
I went on a road trip across the US with my brother (Miami to Seattle). I got a 4X6 photoalubum made up and it's one of my prized possessions. Seeing you do a proper book would be amazing
Good entertaining story Nick. Enjoyed the journey, and agree 100% with you on the intrinsic value of a print.
Loving your videos Nick. About to plunge into making prints, too, so inspired. And as I'm in OC, will use your recommended vendors/partners. Enjoyed the shoot video of this print, too.

Although I don't get to do it that often, that is what I like about painting you get the physical object in your hand/on the wall at the end.
That print is wicked cool! It looks like a piece of art deco furniture.
great video! just subscribed- love your sense of humour-"You'll make it to "Bauer one day kid" lol
I love your videos man. And, your work is phenomenal. Keep it flowing.
Oh man that looks good. The Lustre lamination is a great idea, not a fan of the super glossy look either. Great stuff Nick 👍
Very interesting, Nick. A book would be fantastic as I personally would like to see much of your work in tangible form like that.
Laughed my way through this video, needed to replay it to actually learn something. time enjoyed wasted is not wasted time.
Absolutely phenomenal composition, print, and video documenting the process - loved every second of it and I'm itching to print my own work again now :)
Would be great if you could kind of show us the cost as well - I can't imagine this stuff is cheap.
Love these printmaking videos. I’ve been contemplating decorating my office and parts of the house with prints but just struggle pulling the trigger.
Great video, had some laughs along with it. Unfortunately, I'm not so lucky to have such incredible professional printing services where I live. Looks like that right there is the best of the best. Love the image too, especially printed out at that size.

That’s awesome Nick! Hope all is well!
Thanks, Juan!
nothing bether than a video of Nick carver and a good beer
Excellent choice! Love that image.
I would love to see an entire episode (or online course) covering your scanning and post workflow.
Interesting point about sense of accomplishment with building physical objects vs digital content. Digital creates can be every bit as demanding to produce as a fabricated object, but there is definitely a distinct feeling of having an end result you can physically hold and give to someone else that digital/virtual content doesn't possess.
Great video with a lot of helpful information. Inspired me to make some prints with my 6x9 negatives using your scan to print techniques. cheers
Love the expertise! You are a artist
That turned out great! I especially like the brown tones on the railcar.
Not exactly the vocabulary of artistic analysis, more like the considerations in buying a pair of sneakers.
@@johnsmith1474 I'm sorry I let you down, John. I was only attempting to let Nick I enjoyed the video. Thanks for input
that is an amazing looking print! love it
Looks fabulous and three dimensional. Thank you for sharing.

Fantastic video Nick and always learn something from you.
Great video Nick. Informative and entertaining. Love your work Sir.
Beautiful...just beautiful...
Love your art and your energy Nick. Keep it comin man!
Great video! Love the commentary! Entertaining!
Would like to see some photography outside of the US, don't know if you had plans to do that at some point
