  • 3 Wheels Inline Skates hit the streets of Toronto. The Flying Eagle Drift with Flying Eagle Speed Frames and Valkyries wheels make for an unusually swift roll...but are they maneuverable?
The Flying Eagle three wheel skate set up is from www.flyingeagle... Area rolled is Kensington Market, Queen Street West, and King Street west.
    Camera used GoPro4 Black; amzn.to/2jPLpdk
Remember, the best skater will pad it out when in doubt.

Watching your videos are one of the reasons I skate everyday and I love it so much. Ive only been really skating for 6 months. Before that it was just a once a month thing. I watched your video in December and it restored an old love for skating I will have forever.

I recently bought the 125mm powerslide mega cruisers for my f6 falcons from ProSkatersPlace T.O 110mm and up really helps with the bumps and vibrations of Canadian roads. a lot less leg and foot fatigue on long skates

Bill, love the vids, just found your channel today as I do the same as u. We're about the same age too. I saw my first set of rollerblades from a rep from the newly formed rollerblade company at hockey camp when I was 16 in 1986. My parents ordered me a pair for Christmas that year and I was on the waiting list because they were taking pre orders. You should've seen the looks I received from people on the street in 1987 while I was skating in the streets with rollerblades. 30 years later I'm still flowing. My family doesn't quite get it (on a recent family vacation to San Francisco I woke up early every morning to skate the city). But I showed them your videos today and said, "see this is what it's like and why I love it so much" I think they kind of got it, but they still think I'm crazy...they're probably right.
Thanks for the inspiration to keep rolling, only an aggressive urban skater knows and can relate. My bucket list items include traveling to major cities to tear it up.

Rolling in 86 is super early adoption...I'd only heard rumours of the new 'roller skate' back in 86 or 87. Good call fitting a rip into your San Fran trip; looks like an epic cityscape. It's great to hear your fam thinks your a little weird; nobody wants to be around the boring. Keep me updated on your impressions of cities rolled!

I'm skating now on Megacruisers 3x125mm and I love the speed and smoothness of the ride :) great that you've tested the 110mm set. I think there's just a little diffrence betweeen 125 and 110mm although I dodn't have a chance to skate on 110mm, just tried it in the shop. Bigger wheels are great but for those, who can skate (and stop) at least on an intermediate level.

    • @blackyraypatrick9041
      @blackyraypatrick9041 2 роки тому

its definitely a big difference (1.5 centimetres). But not only the size of wheels matters. Also the Frame lengh.
I came from Skating with 4 wheels. From skate to skate the size went bigger and bigger. But wenn I got my first 4x90 wheels I loved the speed but was missing agility while skating.
3x110 on a really short 243 frame became my sweetspot.

Thanks for this video. Trying to decide on ordering online (no more inline shops in Chicago) to go from 4X80's to 3X 100's or 110's. I have a very small foot so options are limited due to EU sizing. This helped though. Chicago and Toronto terrain look the same. Although we have the lakefront path...so I'm thinking after 17 yrs on 4X80's you have inspired me to order the 3 wheelers! Thanks. J

I love the 3 wheels! I have the Powerslide mega cruisers and live in an area with terrible pavement. They smooth out the terrain really well. If you want to increase your skate collection and enjoy cruising, these are a great addition.

does 3 wheels are les vibrating than 4? what wheel size di you prefer?

    • @bojyles
      @bojyles 8 років тому

As to vibration, I feel like that is more of a quality of skates, frames and wheels combination as opposed to just the wheels.
I've only tried the 125mm wheels on the Megacruisers and 150mm on my old rollerblade coyotes. Otherwise I've only skated wheels in the 70mm range. I'd like to try some 100mm or 110mm on the Megacruisers.

I love supersonic. I have got it on F6 boots and they can resist a lots of falling tricks.(they are more resistant than seems. Also can skate offroad with them. You can get high speed easily and they are a little bit more stable than 4wheels 80mm (243mm) in vertical positions. Obiously, horizontal stability looks not so much as 4wels (80mm). If you like skiing and the high speed (like me),i think they are a really good option.

Got one little question, how long do those 87 a last in comparison to 82 a? And say that for example you skate 2 hours every day with the style like shown on the video, how long would wheels last for you before they need totall replacement?I know it depends on the wheels but tell me your average, out of all the wheels. I would really appreciate that info. Anyway, keep it up !

This was an even nicer production than some previous ones, good job!!!! I would only like to listen different music more often, as when you used "Destructoid" from MK2 which made the video much better. Regarding the 3 wheels, I don't really like how they look like at all, but they must be tried for sure!!! Anyway, take care with those fast P.S. on 3 wheels!!!! I've got Doop Swifts. After always destroying the inside linings with my feet somehow, I've grown tired of replacing perfectly good skates just because the linings are gone... Hopefully with Doops there will be replaceable parts to purchase when they do break. My experience with Rollerblades, K2s, etc is that you can never find a part to purchase once they break.

superb video! im lookin at your frame on a skate website, but it's all for 110mm wheels. do you know off hand if flying eagle makes a frame for 125mm wheels. i ask because my town has some major bumps and i want crazy speed. i bet it'll be kinda wobbly at first, especially with racing shoes (little ankle support). My buddy has "Powerslide-Imperial-Megacruiser-125mmWheels", and she LOVES them but I prefer the look of the FlyingEagle frames you're wearing.

Hey, so cool! Was this the day we almost met up this week? I just got the Flying Eagle Supersonic frames and some 105mm wheels this summer. I have run them on my Twisters a few times and really like it. It has made pathway skating fun again for me! But I took them off and put the regular 4X80mm set-up back on my boots for our recent Toronto trip. Those are some insanely rough but interesting streets you roll. I rolled some of them this week but not as well and certainly not as fast as you. I will share a video soon!

Hi Bill Awesome video as always. Your videos are just getting better and better.I was very curious to hear you take on the new 3 wheel setup. I have been using the powerslide 3 wheel 125mm setup for a while and Its faster but I am not convinced its better. Even looking at your video, you look a little unstable with the 3 wheelers. Your videos with your on the 4 wheels shows a lot more positive movements and skating.I have a similar view. I am not sure if the 125mm is better. Although my average speed is faster my initial speed is slower. Also I fell more in control and positive with my 4x90mm setup.Anyways just wanted to hear you take on the 3 wheeler. So feel free to comment as you get more familiar with the 3 wheel setup. Thanks Anyways dude. You Rock!

of course. especially if the frame is shorter due to its smaller amount of wheels.

    great video, really liked it!
i was thinking about this three wheels setup because i want to buy some doop swift 4.
first i like how easy it seams to use them (a bit like a skateboard: stepping in and go)
and the bigger wheels (110) are great for the city i think. faster, and probably less exhausting.
does someone have any experience with this skate?

110 mm is great for city skating and you will feel your skates become lighter due to the 3 wheel setup. Been using the setup for my FE F7 with the FE Supersonic (black) for months. The only thing that you have to be aware of is the speed, but after a few hours of skating you'll get the hang of it.

I'm looking to buy a triskate frame and wheels. Some of the frames the middle wheel is more towards the back and others it's dead center what's the difference?

Stability and Mobility after the wheels are a bit worn out but you can skate on both perfectly. Its more a fact of being used to something than a real performance changer.

I would image powersliding and maneuvering would be easier if the middle wheel was in the center of the skate, so that it acts as a pivot point. Not sure what the point of the 2 wheels being more toward the back other than that most of the human weight is supported by the heel and not the toes.

The reason why this frame has the center wheel ( and is more rigid) in the back is for Speed slalom for example, where you have to put most of your weight in the back of your skates, in order to turn your foot faster. these frames are being more and more used in competitions.

Powerslide have a new frame coming out soon that has even positioning of the 3 wheels on 243mm frame. Trinity Pro R. its not out yet as far as i know. Not sure what will feel better under foot, 2 heel wheels or even positoning?

they were definitely ok for it.
Great Hybrid skate for people wishing to get more support than on a fitness skate but still a comfortable boot.
