  • The prototype of a surf lick since 1989
James Calvin Wilsey was the dude who was key to the recording of the song that would make Chris Isaak an international star- Wicked Game.
He wrote and played this haunting guitar intro on a 1962 Stratocaster and a Fender pre CBS Deluxe Reverb Amp.
It‘s one of the greatest guitar pieces ever !
    Goosebumps

Sounds great! Any tips for how I might be able to play this without a whammy bar? All I can think is to start with a bend and release, but that open shape at the end wouldn’t be quite so simple

      Hey, thank you
You can start the first notes just like I did.
I just don't hit the strings with my right hand but do a tap and yes, as you say, bend and release.
I also pressed the strings behind the saddle to create the tremolo effect. You would have to use your playing hand, especially your index finger, up to the saddle after the chord has been played and press the strings there with your finger. But too many strings are difficult to press at once. Maximum 2.
