    Happy to enter in this debate.
    I never became a surgeon with a target of earning. And I knew the hardship. However, while doing M.ch i know the immense possibilities as well as the limitations of our other competitors viz ENT and plastic ( both are not equal plastic being a superspecialist branch). Success has different meaning for everyone and maxillofacial are coming through the challanges by improving our skils and undergoing more rigourous training. 3 years of MDS cannot expect to break easily into Circles of plastic surgey we need bit experience and slowly it will come.
    By the way esthetic surgery has no limits in how much you can make. If you want to earn 50lakh be good enough that you can get so much. If we are good we will get. We need more avenues to sharpen our skills and then there is no limit.

      U being a stalwart in maxillofacial surgery and probably the first one to recieve an Mch degree , how is the current scenario sir. How can we establish ourselves different from the crowd.

    • @sameerpandey14
      @sameerpandey14 Рік тому +1

      @@joeljoseph4125 We are already different from others. For example concept of occlusion is very loosely understood by other specialities. We work in mm measurement ranges. However use of microscopes should become more common even for all routine dental tooth preparations. And the training can be more exhaustive. Once in surgical field we need to carry the dental part but become more involved in medical setup. At this point since what we do is authorised by DCI and comes under NMC too it's a matter of time only that both authorities should recognise us and our training. Patient dint know about your skills they here your names and come and with name our qualification is also noted. We need specialization training. An oncosurgeon does only mailgnanacy. Head and neck surgeons usually avoid tympanoplasty or cochlear implants. We need new pathways of training from recognised institutes. Private hospital fellowships are not taken with very much weightage. Again it will be great if such fellowships are recognised by DCI/NMC.
      OMFS is here to stay but we need to evolve now, better late than never.
      Omfs should form the path were DCI and. NMC both become unison in our syllabus, skills so that in Medical colleges as per NMC guidelines we become a separate speciality and not a dentistry dept. In AIIMS we are already evolving fast and being noted of. There are challanges, but there is huge scope.

      @@kaizendental private practice consultations we do get, but that's not for what we do oral surgery, we need hospital setup in true sense to practice maxillofacial surgery, extraction any general practitioner can also do, as Maxfax we need more job opportunities as ENT n plastics r our competitors, they get paid upto 1lakh per month in hospital, n omfs don't even get recruitment..
      I know many Maxfax , doing jobs in dental corporates for just 35k per month for the survival

    • @kaizendental
      @kaizendental  Рік тому +2

      You are saying since you can't commit you are not getting that salary.
      First, are the hospitals wrong in asking a bond? They have to secure their consultants.
      Second, once you commit there are opportunities. And that will come with patience.
      Third, those who are starting at 35k might be just starting out. And is 35k not going to increase? Starting salary has no correlation with earnings growth.
      Third, we are doing MDS after BDS. Should we be comparing with ent? Who do it after MBBS.
      Yes, there is bias against females. Won't disagree with it. But there is scope, is something which i feel. Hoping to have this conversation with you 10 years from now when you will be doing really well and will agree osmf has scope🙂..
