Yup, you just want the pain to go away. There's an old movie from the 40s or 50s called 'I wanna Live'. The movie is based on real life events about a woman that was executed for murder which most people believe she didn't do. Her friends kinda hung her out to dry. Anyway, that line is famous from this movie. I don't want to die, I don't want to live, I just want the pain to go away.
Being a recovering addict with mental illness this song makes me cry, I feel like they looked into my soul and made this song.

I love how they used Zendaya for the last part of the song. It just fits with the story so well because in the beginning she wanted to give up, and her singing she wants to keep fighting and trying is just so beautiful and hopeful. We need more hope in the world, especially now.

This encapsulates the entire season, the struggle, fight to survive and continue on & the ending was a beautiful touch 🦋 it’s been playing on repeat
That’s a really good way to explain the second season 🖤 I know everyone says they wanted more but I think it encapsulates that purgatory in between struggle and trying to get what you want;, and how that process can be absolutely miserable. There’s beauty in it, but it never feels like it when you’re still fighting to move forward.

The last line gets me everytime "Hey Lord, I'm on my way" because depending on what you take from the song it could either mean that they're on the way to breaking out of that cycle they have found themselves in or that they've given up and they're on their way out.

My mom died of fentanyl overdose around the time I started watching this show. When this song played in particular, I felt like I knew everything she had ever felt in her 10 years of drug addiction. Where I once hated her and what her addiction had done to ME, I finally acknowledged what her addiction did to HER and my heart broke in a million pieces. She never had the chance to get clean when I know that's all she ever wanted.

There’s something so utterly gripping in their different deliveries. They both sound tired, but he sounds like he’s been doing this for an eternity, he knows the ups and downs like the back of his hand. He’s tired, but he still knows what’s coming. She sounds tired in a broken way. She doesn’t know what’s coming next, doesn’t know what to expect. She’s fighting to survive, but can feel her head slipping below the surface. They’re both so hauntingly beautiful

This song brings so much pain yet relief through tears because it is a surrender to the Lord for Him to take our burdens. The scene of Zendeya in church and the comfort of the hug was a beautiful picture of what happens when we come to God. And her speaking to her dad was her speaking to God and Him showing her that He loves her and welcomes her back into His embrace.

I think this song perfectly captures an aspect of what it is like to be suicidal. One that many people can't bring to understand. Which is that these people really try their best to win their battles. And when all proves futile literally say, I'm tired. I've been trying. I like that this song recognizes that. Most people think it's that they've given up when in reality they just don't have anything left to give

I have been for a while. I've been suicidal for almost two years now. It's difficult. And so I just want to tell you to be kind to yourself. Do not put too much pressure on yourself. People don't realize the struggle of even leaving your bed in the morning. Or how merely drawing breath feels like a war. So take life day at a time. Do your best and appreciate yourself for even the tiniest bit of progress you make. It could even be as simple as laughing or affording to smile. Most importantly, sit with the negative emotions. Feel them. Don't drink, sleep, eat, exercise them away. FEEL. It's the best and fastest way to healing. All the best on this journey. Know that you aren't alone ❤️

for me it's "Hey lord i wanna stay" because in this particular situation those are rare words and they are so so meaningful and it took thought, consideration, tough love, and a deep look at herself for her to get to the point of wanting to live and be better
My mom died Feb 20th 2020. At 19 I was in a downward spiral of alcoholism, sitting on my bed at 22 a few months back I was drunk out of my mind and listening to music. This song came on and I bawled, I had been so tired for so long and didn’t know. The alcohol was masking it but this song let out all my emotions that I had bottled up since my mother died. I have since been 2 months sober and have rekindled my relationship with God. 2:19 are the lyrics that stood out to me the most because I would ask myself this constantly and the answer is yes. Broken, fragile, depressed, anxious etc is it enough for God. He takes you as you are, he heals you and comforts you in your times of need, he stops raging storms from passing over you. Seek him in your time of need and your prayers will never go unanswered. Bless all those who are going through tough times right now. 💜

This song perfectly captures the emotions behind depression. The want to hang on but just being so tired that it honestly feels like you’re at the end of your rope. Pleading with forces out of your control hoping that something will click. It is a constant fight against something no one else can see. Also the last lyric is so open ended, on my way to death or to getting better? I honestly love this song to pieces. It captures that desperation, fear, and numb tiredness that grips and tears at sanity.

I was so determined to leave this world. had my mother found me a minute later, I would never have thought the pain I felt in that moment could be so perfectly captured in a song. I was 13, telling the lord "I'm on my way" Truth is I sometimes crave the darkness that lays over you like a blanket as your last breaths leave your cold body but the darkness ,the void feels so warm, warmer than life. I can never convince anyone to stay cause when you're ready to leave you're ready but sometimes the light hits the broken pieces of your soul and you glow, you become glorious, sure you aren't whole, nor unbroken but everything beautiful comes from pain. and that's okay

I love how she comes to God with her struggles and is finally completely honest, saying she is tired, saying she is trying and then she finds her hope in God as she says she wants to stay. There is still hope. This is a beautiful depiction of when you go to God with your struggles, He will give you new strength
I don't agree. Finding comfort in someone high above, caring for you, doesn't happen to everyone. What about people with trauma caused by religion? The people religion tells you are sinners? My mental health is deeply impacted by all I've been taught as a kid. I feel worthless, because of religion. I feel like I'm not supposed to exist. I feel wrong. If I had the guts I'd not stand here today. All because my parents ended up basically telling me, every fiber of my being is to be wiped away. My mental disorder, my mental illness, my sexuality, is to be wiped away very soon. I don't know who I'd be without my mind as it is. My personality is a mix of all my experiences and how my brain works due to my disorder. I don't want to be me, but having a mighty being wipe it all away would be like truly admitting that I'm not good the way I am. I might be struck down in the end of this world, by God himself, is what I've been told. Even if it's not God himself who let it be written in the translations of the bible, even if he didn't cause the hatred towards my kind, why would he let it be for so long? He's betrayed us. Others have put their trust in him and have been killed anyway. There is no hope for me. If this is how it's always been, then he'll only view me as a sinner. I don't expect mercy, if he even does exist.

Just know God is always waiting for you. God said to come as you are- you could be a murderer, a rapist it doesn't matter, God will always accept you as long as you ask him to. As a believer when I first started praying it felt like I was talking to myself but I reminded myself to just have faith in God and be patient. Also faith without works is dead. This means you yourself have to work for what you want. So maybe going to therapy or venting or finding a healthy way to cope will aid along your healing. God can do anything and you can do anything through him. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and to change and heal you. Again I'm sorry for the trauma you've been caused. Just know these people typically aren't good representatives of God. We are supposed to love you as we love ourselves, it's wrong for them to say things like that to you about your sexuality. ~ I freaking felt this on a personal note. Everyone is going through some hard times right now, whether u'd like to admit it or not. But this song shows that even though there are times that show that u might wanna kill yourself, you wanna stay and u wanna keep on living no matter how crazy it is. That's the glory of music people. This song means so much too me, I’ve dealt with a drug addiction for the last 3 years or so, and i relapsed at new years after being clean for 7 months. I was actively using without telling anyone for the past few months. Tomorrow ill be sober for a whole week, which is the longest I’ve been in a while. The lyrics are just written so beautifully and i just have a feeling the song understands me and my problems.
For anyone that’s struggling too, just know that it’ll be alright and that it’s fine to take a minute to breathe sometimes❤️

This song hits me deep. For years I have been dealing with depression, anxiety, letdowns, bad breaks, and I was even having suicidal thoughts. Specifically Zendaya’s part, when she sings, “Hey Lord, you know I’m trying” resonated within everything I have faced, and continuing to face. Anyone who is going through it, know that you are special, and you have a purpose. Believe me when I say that you are loved, unique, and you are more of importance than you think. Stay strong, I love you. You are amazing.

Depression is so heavy at times but no one can see the anchors slowly pulling you down.
Every day you struggle to keep your head up, so you don't drown, we try our best, through the storms and waves but you eventually get tired.
Sometimes the sun shines bright and the sea is still it gives you hope that maybe it's all over but there is always the dark clouds in the distant, you pray, you beg, you scream on the top of your lungs and cry and hope that maybe someone will come help you, take you somewhere save.
But it doesn't always happen, so you close your eyes and let the waves wash over you and with your last breath.. you let go.
