Statements like "Don’t hire Indians, Pakistanis, etc." and asking for too many tasks upfront, like creating Loom videos or researching the company, without even guaranteeing an interview, seem unfair. In today’s market, candidates often apply to 100-200 jobs just to get 5-10 callbacks, and with so many ghost listings, these time-intensive requirements add to the burden. My suggestion is to give everyone a fair chance by explaining any hesitations about hiring from certain groups and allowing them to address these concerns. A simpler process, like a quick phone call or a 15-minute interview before requesting tasks, would be more reasonable. This approach ensures candidates are judged on merit rather than being excluded due to biases or overly demanding initial requirements. While your process may work for you, these are some pain points many candidates face when applying for jobs.
