Out of the potential Oscar nominees for 2025 that I am yet to watch, "The Brutalist" is HIGH on my list above everything else. I already feel like I am going to LOVE this.
Honestly, I'm so happy to see Felicity Jones in a great movie, an award contender one. It's been quite a while since the last time she did movies like this
Coincidentally, I was thinking that this movie delivered on the promise of Megalopolis. But the tone and execution of both films is interesting to observe. Megalopolis cost 120,000,000 and it looked like a made for basic cable movie from 1995. The Brutalist to as only $10million and it looked and felt like it could be the rookie on a team consisting of The Conformist, 1900, Heaven’s Gate, Once Upon a Time in America, and even There Will Be Blood.
Hi Austin, Not sure If you have seen A complete Unknown yet. But what are you're thoughts on Chalamet vs Brody for Best Actor? After watching this Review i believe my question has already been answered somehow, but they seem to be the favourites currently 🤔
Mannnn, Coralie Fargeat, Denis Villeneuve and Brady Corbet need to have a big boxing match to decide who’s the best directing achievement of the year they were all absolutely COOKING 🗣️
For me this year is awesome.... - Anora - The Brutalist - The Wild Robot - Heretic - Nosferatu - The Substance - Dune: Part Two - Sing Sing - Transformers One - Juror #2 - Sonic The hedgehog 3 - Longlegs - Furioza: A Mad Max Saga - Strange Darling - Smile 2 - Inside Out 2 - Late Night With The Devil - Civir War - A Real Pain - Kingdom Of The Planet Of The Apes - Challengers - Conclave - A Complete Unknown - Alien: Romulus - A Quiet Place: Day One - The Fall Guy - Wicked - Speak No Evil - Monkey Man - Twisters - Terrifier 3 - Flow - It's What's Inside - Gladiator II - Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - Deadpool & Wolverine - Abigail - Oddity - Rebel Ridge - September 5 - Nickel Boys - Didi - Carry On - The Shadow Strays - A Different Man - Saturday Night - The First Omen - Bad Boys: Ride Or Die - Woman Of The Hour - Caddo Lake - Blink Twice - How To Make Million Before Granma Die - The Apprentice - Hit Man - Kill - Kind Of Kindness - My Old Ass - Fallout - The Penguin - Arcane S2 - Shogun - X Men 97
@davidmckesey7119 not every movies lol, i dislike lot of movies this year aswell... - Joker: Folie A Deux - Megalopolis - Madame Web - Kraven The Hunter - Night Swim - Afraid - Tarot - Borderlands - Megamind vs The Doom Syndicate - Atlas - Beautiful Wedding - Rebel Moon - Part Two: The Scargiver - The Exorcism - I S S - The Strangers: Chapter 1 - The Crow - Uglies - The Exorcism - Damsel - No Way Up - The Garfield Movie There are mid movies like... - Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire - Kung-Fu Panda 4 - Moana 2 - The Lord Of The Rings: The War Of The Rohirrim - Mufasa: The Lion King - Salem's Lot - Venom: The Last Dance
I just saw it. The cinematography, the score and the performances are absolutely first rate. Once we got to Part 2, I felt it lost something and felt like the rush to the epilogue was way too jarring. The second half of the film was a big disappointment.
3 hours and 30 minutes With a 15 minute intermission. Maybe I'll leave after the intermission and then watch the second half tomorrow Thank God for A List 😂
It’s much much different 3.5 hours in a theater in the age of people having to look at their phones every five minutes is much different than watching three episodes of a show in the comfort of your own home, where you can pause/play at your own luxury That’s just the world we live in now (sadly)
@ Okay, but also what about Avatar: Way of the Water? That movie is over 3 hours long, it came out in this decade and yet it made over 2 billion dollars. I mean after all, it’s James Cameron, can’t go wrong with him
I was at theMovems churchattemding the mass ceremony on Monday. The Father led the congregation through a series of chants and responded. It I am surprised they still have not got to the corr of bringing the spirit of the deity into the body. And they still do not tealise the rapture has started. Very surprising these people. They have a very parochial deterministic view of how one'stjrir own religious denomination should go forward I know a lot of expats are leaving as they feel rach vulture does understand fully another person"s culture so there is a lack of buoyancy in social life in Singapore.
There’s no way you sat down and watched Conclave and thought that the character was trans at the end😂. It’s actually impressive that the ending completely went over your head🫠
3.5 hours!? Ugh, I guess I won’t be watching it, then. I’m done with unreasonably long movies. That’s why I still haven’t seen Babylon, Napoleon, Killers of the Flower Moon (all 3 should’ve been 140 mins tops), and The Little Mermaid (should’ve been 100 mins tops) remake.
@ At some point in the era of streaming, Hollywood became more lazy or unconcerned about editing down movies to a tolerable time. Maybe they felt people choosing to watch more movies at home meant runtimes didn’t matter as much anymore, or they wanted to increase minutes watched, but it tried my patience for too long. In no universe should any Disney movie about a Little Mermaid be 135 mins long, and even for movies where the genre is used to excuse it, they DECIDED to make the movies that long. They need to provide a good reason why Babylon (etc.) needed to be over 180 minutes. As for Scorsese, he clearly lost some of his discipline after Netflix let him make The Irishman as long as he wanted because now he seeks out studios that will let him do the same. Killers of the Flower Moon (etc.) should not be as long as a LOTR movie, and no I don’t need to watch it to say that. It’s a matter of principle for me at this point. If you want to make a 3 hour long historical based movie, make it a TV series instead like The Underground Railroad on Prime Video.
@@trayntp so you’re saying you prefer not to watch anything that isn’t presented in episodes/parts. I guess your attention span is really different than most others. Best of luck with The Godfather films or Oppenheimer then (to just name a couple of three hour classics).

It is offensive that films as great and special as "The Brutalist" compete with mediocrities such as "Emilia Perez".
Correct haha
Emilia is hard to watch. Subtitles while watching la la land type singing and acting is hard. I needed a dub to be honest
That’s awards season for you
And yet Felicity Jones is gonna get overlooked because Emilia Perez. I hope she still makes it to the Oscars
@@Erasureeraser despite how much you hate Emilia Perez, you can't deny that Zoe Saldana is the saving grace of that movie and is actually *the* lead.
What amazes me is how good it looks, and it cost like 9 million? Just amazing.
Yeah phenomenal

Who cares how much it cost?

I’ve seen 7 out of 10 of the nominees at this time. This is my pick for Best Picture. Absolutely brilliant and beautiful. Brody is fantastic.
Going to have to watch this whole thing after I see the film. It’s one of the few films that I want to watch before I watch your full review
The Brutalist is an epic masterpiece.
Watching it when it comes out over here in Canada. Can’t wait.
Bring back the categories for the scoring
Beautifully shot movie that made me feel sad the entire time
The brutalist is the true front runner imo, great vid
