nah I don’t think is THAT competitive… queer has mixed reviews and craig didn’t win the golden lion at venice; sing sing is a flop at the box office and coclave same thing of queer. I think the battle will be chalamet vs. brody

@@tonyg76 I don't think it will matter. It will bomb at the Box Office no matter what. But I believe that its top 2 for Best Picture. Golden Lion puts Room Next Door back into the race.
@@jurney3478 Sing Sing still has a shot to win. Any one who likes dramas (general audiences pre 2010) will love it. So when comes back to theaters in January and is on MAX it will be an audience favorite. It can win SAG and WGA and maybe PGA since The Brutalist is less producer friendly. Anora could only win GG Comedy and WGA. Brutalist could win GG Drama, Critics Choice, DGA and maybe Bafta depending how popular Conclave is there.
@@nicholasjoseph8297 Maybe. But Box Office seems to be important lately in the Oscars race and not sure the general audience will respond well to a three and a half hour movie. I know the runtime is already a red flag to me.
I just saw it at NYFF. I love this film. One of my favorite films of the year. Everything from the cinematography, the score, costumes, production design and etc. I see it being a film that people talk about for years to come.
I get LAWRENCE OF ARABIA vibes in terms of runtime and scope. I re-watched it recently (but first time in a theatre) and that film's majestic scale was palpable. I think this is a major contender especially for Director.
You guys are the first ones I have heard hating on Guy Pearce's performance, almost every review I have read says he's the highlight performance of the film.
Hey . What do you think about second part of the movie? Particularly the shift in Guy Pearces character. It seemed out of character for Buren and his previous relationship with Laslo to change so drastically. It’s like a metaphor for power of capitalism that crushes everything that it wants…but it seemed too forced. I don’t know…I liked the movie a lot, but also feel like the second half after the intermission became too melodramatic and flashy in contrast to more subtle first part… In the first half Buren clearly respected Laslo, as a person and professional, was strict and open with him, entrusted a very personal project dedicated to his mother…and then suddenly he does what he does…
If The Brutalist were to win Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor it would be the 3rd film in a row to win a leading acting role and a Supporting acting role. If were to win Best Actor and Best supporting actress it would be the first to win since my left foot and if jones goes for best actress it would be the first to win since as good as it gets
Great review lads! Really appreciate when reviews out of festivals are intentionally very vague about anything that would work better as a surprise, even if they’re not spoilers so to speak ❤ Keep it up
We need a deep into Adrien Brody career because how do you go for a couple years in b films then suddenly give an epic performance everyone is raving about. As if the last 15 years were all a simulation
I'm suspicious. So many are just saying it's so great but... I'm thinking they like it because they agree with something being said.... I don't know if you guys would be interested at all in reading my take on the film? Currently I may have written the longest review of the film yet (not that that really counts for much, I admit.) It's on Letterboxd, and I could drop a link in a comment under Brother Bro's review.
@@ClassicalMusic2002 I am replying and posting a link but the comment doesn't stay up, it seems. You could find my Letterboxd profile by searching my name Lorcan_oBrien. Sing Sing is the BEST MOVIE of the year and deserves nominations in most categories. The movie was shot on 16 mm film, in 19 days, with a very small crew. The DP, Pat Scola should be nominated for an Oscar for cinematography because the visual look, the lighting, the film choice, all created the naturalistic atmosphere to tell the story. Accompanied with Bryce Dessner's score that sells the beautiful scenes and intimate facial expressions. And kudos to the director, Greg Kwedar, who allowed dialogue to be ad-libbed at times, which created the emotional essence throughout the film that tugs at your heart. The cast deserves best ensemble because 90% of the cast are the formerly incarcerated men that participated in the RTA theater program while in Sing Sing and that authenticity shines. And what can you say about Coleman Domingo.... he deserves the Oscar this year, his performance is perfectly understated, and he allows the other men to shine because this is their story. Well Done!! Also, Clarence Maclin and Paul Raci both deserve best supporting nominations. Their performances tie the strings that pull the film to its brilliance. Best movie overall in a very long time and well worth the emotional journey.
Feel kinda bad saying this but feedback is a gift. Is this the Brother Bro channel or The Oscar Expert channel? I like Brother Bro but he’s been droning on for 5 minutes into the video now not really saying anything substantial and I’d like to hear more from the Oscar Expert.
I mean they're trying to review a movie without providing any plot details or spoilers so there's a limit to how much substance they can provide in a review.
Could this be the second Oscar for Adrien Brody in a film called “the ___ist”?
can’t wait for him to complete the hat trick with “the sexist”
it’s a romcom about how much he hates his wife (played by judi dench, who wins supporting actress with 4 minutes of screen time)
Nothing brings the best out of Adrien like being a Somethingist

To anyone has seen it, how many % of the movie is in English?
Maybe 60-70%. It's mostly in English. Some people in my screening said they had trouble with the accents, but I didn't really.
Best supporting actress is going to felicity Jones.
Meh
